Rashida Tlaib (lid huis van afgevaardigden VS) wordt gedemoniseerd vanwege haar steun voor het verdrukte Palestijnse volk

Vond vanmorgen een bericht van Rashida Tlaib in mijn elektronische brievenbus. Tlaib had zich eerder al tegen de meer dan belachelijke VS begroting voor defensie uh oorlogsvoering van houd je vast: 770 miljard dollar gestemd..... (toen Trump de defensiebegroting steeds verder verhoogde, waren veel democraten tegen, wat nu met de Democratische oorlogsmisdadiger Joe Biden in het Witte Huis blijkbaar totaal geen probleem is......) Toen Rashida tegen de jaarlijkse gift van 4 miljard dollar aan de Israëlische oorlogsmachine wenste te stemmen, werd er een voorstel gedaan om Israël bovenop dat bedrag nog eens 1 miljard extra toe te kennen.....

Rashida sprak zich als enige in het congres van Palestijnse komaf uit tegen het bevoordelen van de Israëlische regering, tegen de decennia lange illegale bezetting van Palestijnse gebieden en de systematische onderdrukking van het Palestijnse volk, waar zij het beest bij de naam noemde: apartheid...... Daarvoor werd ze door de beide partijen aangevallen dus zowel door haar partijgenoten van de Democratische Partij als door de leden van de Republikeinse Partij.......

Niet Israël werd veroordeeld voor haar grove mensenrechtenschendingen en bloedige onderdrukking van de Palestijnen, maar degene die het voor het verdrukte Palestijnse volk opnam, de slachtoffers van mensenrechtenschendingen, waar zelfs kinderen zonder enige aanklacht worden opgesloten in militaire gevangenissen en daar niet zelden worden gemarteld......

De Israëlische staat bevoordeelt de illegale kolonisten, steunt het stelen van Palestijns land door die kolonisten en daarnaast zelfs de terreur die deze 'kolonisten' uitoefenen tegen Palestijnen..... Deze kolonisten hebben vrijheid van beweging en samenkomst, rechten die de Palestijnen niet hebben.... 

De bewegingsvrijheid van Palestijnen wordt ernstig belemmerd door de 'muur' die Israël heeft opgetrokken op de door haar illegaal bezette West Bank, middels een groot aantal door het Israëlische bezettingsleger bewaakte blokkades...... Zo kunnen veel Palestijnse boeren hun grond niet meer bereiken, het water is voor veel dorpen en steden waar alleen Palestijnen wonen afgesloten door Israël (een misdaad tegen de menselijkheid!!) en zijn Palestijnen overgeleverd aan de willekeur van het Israëlische bezettingsleger, daar ze bijvoorbeeld bij de wegblokkades en razzia's van dat leger worden vernederd en beledigd..... Voorts worden er wekelijks Palestijnen doodgeschoten door het Israëlische leger..... Ofwel je kan rustig stellen dat Israël een etnische zuivering uitvoert op de West Bank......

Over watergebruik gesproken: ook voedsel moet voor een flink deel worden aangevoerd via Israël en zelfs die transporten worden regelmatig tegengehouden, wat overigens ook geldt voor medicijnen en medische apparaten...... 

Elk ander land dat zo met een minderheid zou omgaan, zou aan de 'wereldpaal' worden genageld, maar niet Israël, alsof de Palestijnen een derderangs volk vormen........ (niet alleen figuurlijk maar ook letterlijk!!!)

Ongelofelijk dan ook dat de VS dat keer op keer keihard liegt de grote verdediger van democratie en mensenrechten te zijn, zo durft om te gaan met Palestijnen, immers door het beleid t.a.v. Israël laat de VS weten dat de Palestijnen geen recht hebben op een normaal leven..... Overigens is Israël alles behalve een democratie, dat zou alleen zo zijn als Israël het Palestijnse volk als de Joden zou behandelen..... (alleen het gebruik van het woord Jood in deze is al genoeg om mij voor antisemiet uit te maken: te gek voor woorden!!) 

Rashida heeft e.e.a. vervat in een vraag om geld zodat ze haar eenzame en ongelijke strijd kan voortzetten, dus....

We keep hearing that there’s not enough money to cover needs like healthcare or housing for struggling communities here at home. But last month, the U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a whopping $770 BILLION defense budget.

I was already planning to vote no. Then, Congressmembers brought up a last-minute measure to give an extra $1 billion in taxpayer dollars to the Israeli military—on top of our annual $4 billion giveaway, which is by far the most assistance the U.S. provides to any country.

As the only Palestinian-American member of Congress, I spoke up against the Israeli government’s decades-long occupation and systematic mistreatment of Palestinians, calling it what it is: apartheid. But for recognizing Palestinians’ basic humanity, I faced attacks from my colleagues on both sides of the aisle.

Instead of condemning Israel’s human rights abuses, Democrats and Republicans in Congress are condemning me for simply pointing out these abuses.

In the occupied West Bank, where my grandmother lives, the Israeli government is supporting Israeli settlements that violate international law—displacing Palestinians from their homes through a process of ethnic cleansing.

These Israeli settlers live in the same territory as Palestinians, but are subject to Israeli civil law rather than military rule, use segregated roads where Palestinians are not allowed, and have rights Palestinians don’t, such as freedom of movement and freedom of assembly.

The Israeli government controls and often denies food, water, and health supplies for Palestinians—who have no say in this system.

This year, U.S. and Israeli human rights groups Human Rights Watch and B’Tselem confirmed what Palestinians have been saying for years: This discriminatory treatment qualifies as apartheid.

And as this reality becomes clearer to Americans, polls show that most Americans support treating Israelis and Palestinians as equal citizens. Most Americans and a significant majority of Democrats support conditioning U.S. funding of Israel’s military on whether Israel complies with human rights law.

The taboo against questioning U.S. support for Israel’s military is finally shifting. Now, people on social media can hear directly from Palestinians and see what’s happening on the ground. Palestinians are disenfranchised human beings suffering under an occupation that’s been going on for decades.

More Americans are recognizing that Israelis and Palestinians are equal people entitled to equal rights, and that everyone deserves safety. That’s why there’s a growing movement to ensure that U.S. tax dollars are not used to fund the Israeli military’s human rights abuses.

Unfortunately, people’s representatives in Congress are often out of step with their constituents. Many are unwilling to break with the status quo because they don’t want to take a risk, but I’m here to prove that standing up for Palestinian human rights isn’t a risk at all—and it’s what’s right.

Jake Johnson heeft op Common Dreams een artikel geschreven n.a.v. de miljardairs die hun beklag doen op beursvriendelijke media, zoals Leon Cooperman die zijn beklag deed op CNBC en daar niet alleen de Reddit subgroep demoniseerde, maar ook de plannen tot het verhogen van de belastingen voor de allerrijksten als het eind van de wereld voorstelde...... 

Keer op keer haalde deze superrijke oplichter 'The American Dream' aan (ook te horen in de video die ik in het bericht hieronder heb opgenomen), een leugen die het volk in de VS rustig moet houden daar men hen wijsmaakt dat iedereen miljardair kan worden....... (een variatie op de religieuze leugen voor mensen die een zwaar leven moeten leiden dat zij na hun dood naar de hemel gaan......) Niet vreemd dan ook dat zelfs veel arme mensen in de VS stemmen tegen belastingverhogingen voor de welgestelden, daar hen dit ook zou kunnen treffen als ze eventueel rijk zullen worden, vandaar ook dat Cooperman zonder enige schaamte het lef had om te fulmineren tegen voorgenomen belastingverhogingen......

Bernie Sanders heeft deze miljardairs de bel aangebonden en laat geen spaan heel van hun kritiek zo stelde hij o.a. dat de Democraten inderdaad de Wall Street miljardairs een eerlijk deel aan belastingen willen laten betalen om daarmee een economie te creëren die voor iedereen werkt!! As the ongoing GameStop saga sparked renewed calls for a financial transactions tax and other commonsense redistributive measures to tackle soaring inequality and Wall Street abuses, billionaire investor Leon Cooperman took to the airwaves Thursday to fume that the idea of compelling the mega-rich to pay their fair share is a "bullshit concept" and merely "a way of attacking wealthy people."

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a longtime proponent of raising taxes on billionaires like Cooperman, was not impressed.

"Yes. We will make Wall Street billionaires pay their fair share of taxes and create an economy that works for all of us."

Cry me a river," the Vermont senator tweeted late Thursday. "Yes. We will make Wall Street billionaires pay their fair share of taxes and create an economy that works for all of us."

A hedge fund manager who was charged with insider trading by the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2016, Cooperman is one of several industry big-wigs who has appeared on financial networks like CNBC in recent days to complain about the retail investors who banded together to send GameStop shares into the stratosphere, blowing up a ploy by short-selling hedge funds to cash in on the company's seemingly imminent demise.

Cooperman, whose net worth is estimated to be around $3 billion, sniffed that "the reason the market is doing what it's doing is, people are sitting at home, getting their checks from the government, basically trading for no commissions and no interest rates."

"I'm not damning them. I'm just saying from my experience, this will end in tears," Cooperman said as the investing app Robinhood abruptly restricted trading on GameStock and other shares, prompting members of Congress such as Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) to demand hearings and an investigation.

HuffPost's Zach Carter argued Wednesday that a financial transactions tax would be the "simplest solution" to an untenable status quo in which Wall Street titans are handsomely rewarded for engaging in "what is a mostly economically wasteful activity."

"We have plenty of roads and bridges to repair and a vastly outdated transportation system," Carter wrote. "Redistributing money from hedge funders in the Hamptons to a high-speed rail network or a national public housing program would do more for growth and productivity than all the shorts and put options in New York."

Google weigert vrouwenonderdrukkende app te verwijderen

Weer eens een gevalletje ongelofelijk.... Ongelofelijk dat Google en Apple daadwerkelijk een app hebben gemaakt waarmee vrouwonvriendelijke en slaven drijvende Saoediërs hun vrouw respectievelijk buitenlands 'personeel' (loonslaven) kunnen beletten om het land, of wel een hels leven te ontvluchten..... De app 'Absher' zorgt ervoor dat er contact is met het ministerie van binnenlandse zaken en er een waarschuwing wordt verstuurd zo gauw de persoon die gevolgd moet worden haar/zijn paspoort of identiteitskaart gebruikt, zo kan voorkomen worden dat vrouwen stiekem het land ontvluchten......* 

Zo was er er begin dit jaar een vrouw die Saoedi-Arabië was ontvlucht en zich opsloot in een Thaise hotelkamer, daar de Thaise autoriteiten op verzoek van terreurstaat S-A haar paspoort hadden ingenomen..... Gelukkig kwam zij weg na de wereldwijde belangstelling en verontwaardiging, daarmee ontsnapte ze aan een welhaast zekere executie in Saoedi-Arabië..... Vrouwen die nu gepakt zullen worden als zij proberen het land te ontvluchten, lopen de kans vermoord te worden, alles met hulp van Google en Apple........ 

Google en Apple zijn sinds de jaren dat ze ontstonden verworden tot machtige organisaties, zo machtig dat ze volkomen lak hebben aan wat hun klanten vinden over zaken als hierboven beschreven, men is nu eenmaal afhankelijk van hun diensten......

Gelukkig komt er langzaam verandering in, althans wat betreft Apple, meer en meer klanten laten de producten van Apple voor wat ze zijn en stappen over op een smartphone of computer van een ander merk......

Google is een heel ander verhaal, dit bedrijf is bijna monopolist wat betreft browsers (zoekmachine), althans er is m.i. geen browser die zo perfect werkt als Google, al moet ik daarbij zeggen dat ik op dit gebied maar weinig kennis heb en mensen die meer ingevoerd zijn, zullen het misschien niet met me eens zijn. Doet niets af aan het feit dat er miljoenen zijn als ik die gewoon een goed werkende zoekmachine willen gebruiken......

Google moet allang begrepen hebben dat het van de VS overheid niets te vrezen heeft op dit gebied, immers Saoedi-Arabië is een goede handelspartner van de VS (dat jaarlijks vele miljarden aan militaire apparatuur levert aan deze reli-fascistische dictatuur), dat bleek nog eens na de barbaarse moord op Khashoggi, NB een kleinigheid vergeleken met de genocide die dit land uitvoert in buurland Jemen, waar de VS zelfs aan meewerkt..... 

Overigens steunt ook Nederland de Saoedische dictatuur, onder andere met de verkoop van wapenonderdelen aan die meer dan achterlijke dictatuur (waar 'ons' koningshuis hartelijke banden onderhoudt met deze dictatuur, die wordt gevormd door het koningshuis in dat land.....)

Google bevindt zich intussen op het niveau waar de bankenmaffia al jaren staat: je kan het bedrijf niet straffen door 'à la minute' op te stappen na smeerpijperij, daar een overstap ingewikkeld en tijdrovend is, ofwel: we hebben te maken met machtsmisbruik!! Vandaar ook dat Google zich schikt naar de zittende VS administratie en de reguliere westerse massamedia met de strijd tegen zogenaamd fake news en nep-manipulaties, waarmee het censuur ondersteunt en valse propaganda als waarheid wordt aangeprezen......** (alleen al door bepaalde sites/blogs niet meer te tonen in de zoekresultaten....)

Apple gebruikt intussen het magere excuus dat het nog bezig is Absher te onderzoeken, alsof het niet allang duidelijk is wat de kleine Saoedische dictators kunnen uitvreten met deze app...... Kortom Apple wacht af of Google wegkomt met haar weigering Absher uit de Play Store te halen en als dat positief is voor Google, zal ook Apple de app niet verwijderen......

The tech giant said it conducted checks on Absher and concluded that the app did not violate any of its terms and conditions, so it will not be removed from Google’s Play store.

Both Google and Apple have faced criticism from US politicians and human rights groups for hosting the application.

Google did not comment on its decision when approached by Middle East Eye.

Absher is an application that helps Saudi citizens manage their passports, birth certificates and vehicle registrations through the kingdom’s interior ministry.

Under Saudi Arabia’s guardianship system, women are classified as “dependants” and require permission from their male guardians to leave the country.

The Absher app enables Saudi men to grant and revoke permission for their dependants to leave the country.

Saudi men can also set up a text messaging system via the app to notify them of when their “dependant” uses their passport to travel overseas. The guardian can then revoke permission to travel and stop them leaving the country.

Saudi sponsors of migrant workers are also given the same powers with their employees.

Condemnation in Washington

Last month, 14 newly elected members of the US Congress demanded Google and Apple remove the app, describing Absher as a means to “perpetuate 16th-century tyranny”.

“By sending a text notifying a male ‘guardian’ when a woman’s national identification card or passport is used at an airport, the app serves as [a] tracking device,” the Democrats noted in an open letter.

“Keeping this application in your stores allows your companies and your American employees to be accomplices in the oppression of Saudi Arabian women and migrant workers.”

The letter added: “With a few taps of his finger on an app offered on your companies’ app stores, a Saudi man can exert near total control over the livelihood of these vulnerable migrant workers.”

Notable signatories of the open letter include US House representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.

Apple, meanwhile, has said that it had not concluded its investigation of Absher.

Riyadh defended Absher and said it provides services for “all members of the society… including women, the elderly, and people with special needs”.

(MPN) — What unites Republicans and Democrats, a former Jewish terrorist, the Republican leader in the House of Representatives, Nikki Haley, Chelsea Clinton and Liz Cheney? A Muslim lady with a mouth and some opinions, apparently. Muslim Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has been the subject of bipartisan bullying that has reached a fever pitch since the lawmaker explicitly called out the number one Israeli lobby group in the U.S. — the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

Earlier this year, Omar made heads explode in the halls of power after she denounced the U.S.-backed coup attempt in Venezuela. Now, even the leader of her own party in her own chamber of Congress – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi – is joining a chorus of detractors accusing Omar of anti-Semitism for correctly characterizing the business of lobbying.

While this is not the first time that Omar has come under fire for criticizing Israel, the current saga began on Sunday when journalist Glenn Greenwald tweeted an article by the Israeli daily newspaper Haaretz that trumpeted calls from House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to “take action” against Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI). McCarthy did not specify which statements he opposed, but called the situation “equal” or worse than that of Rep. Steve King (R-IA) who was removed from his committee assignments by his party after he questioned when “white supremacy” had become “offensive.”

Tlaib and Omar are the first two Muslim women in Congress, while Tlaib is the first Palestinian-American. Both have supported the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, a nonviolent campaign to economically pressure Israel into compliance with international and humanitarian law.

MintPress News has previously covered dubious accusations of anti-Semitism against Tlaib after she took a stand against a free-speech-crushing bill favored by — you guessed it — the Israel lobby. Meanwhile, other lawmakers are attempting to block Tlaib’s planned delegation to the illegally occupied West Bank.

In response to the attack from the Republican House leader, ACLU Human Rights Director Jamil Dakwar quipped that Congressman McCarthy may “want to revive McCarthyism.”

McCarthy himself received $33,000 from NorPAC, “an AIPAC affiliate, in the last election cycle,” reportedthe online publication Jewish Worker. Meanwhile, McCarthy himself has been accused of spreading anti-Semitic tropes, warning that three Jewish, liberal mega-donors, including George Soros, were trying to “buy” the midterm elections, which were to take place the following day. That tweet has since been deleted.

But some powerful people with Twitter accounts took exception the the congresswoman’s identification of a pro-Israel lobby group as an entity that “is paying American politicians to be pro-Israel.” One is left to wonder what causes AIPAC doles out the contents of its propaganda war-chest for if not to influence lawmakers on Israel. The takeaway from this line of analysis is that money has no influence in politics, which is patently absurd.

Yet AIPAC’s own mission statement claims “AIPAC urges all members of Congress to support Israel through foreign aid, government partnerships, joint anti-terrorism efforts.”

Omar’s statement about AIPAC being self-evident, the remark riled the likes of former Trump Administration Ambassador to the UN and pro- Israel Nikki Haley, who once said, “When I come to AIPAC, I am with friends.” Haley’s pro-Israel track record at the international body prompted an Israeli cartoonist to satirize her departure with an image of a United Nations handyman telling Haley, who is packing her bags, that she forgot her “second flag” — an Israeli one. Israeli President Reuven Rivlin even called Haley a “true ambassador” for Israel.

Chelsea Clinton assured several on Twitter that she would “reach out to Omar.” When Omar agreed, saying “we must call out smears from the GOP and their allies,” Clinton agreed. That was until Ashley Goldberg stepped in, tweeting that Clinton “outright said there is a problem with antisemitism [sic] on both sides and Ilhan Omar clearly said she only cares about what she can do to depict it as only a problem with the GOP.”

FYI, it's possible to believe both that AIPAC has a pernicious effect on American politics and that Ilhan Omar's tweet invoked clear anti-Semitic stereotypes about how Jews buy influence.

But a cursory examination of the legacy AIPAC has left since it opened shop the DC speak even greater volumes. The lobby group is not itself run by Israel, allowing it to avoid registration under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, a law that forces foreign lobby groups to be more transparent. That’s because I.L. Kenen, the founder of AIPAC, created a “legal loophole by which AIPAC is defined not as a lobby for a foreign state but for Americans who support that state. It’s a critical distinction that makes AIPAC’s dominance over U.S. Middle East policy possible,” according to former AIPAC employee M.J. Rosenberg.

AIPAC continues its practice of using loopholes to further its agenda today. A recent documentaryproduced by Al Jazeera but censored by Qatar, which funds the outlet, showed how one fundraiser for a congressional candidate, organized by an unofficial “AIPAC group,” circumvented laws on maximum individual political contributions by pooling donors’ grants together and doling out the official donations evenly among participants.

And the organization’s sway over Congress is difficult to dispute. Promotional literature for the annual AIPAC policy conference in Washington has touted the idea that it would be “attended by more members of Congress than almost any other event.” Steve Rosen, a former AIPAC executive, would tell people that he “could take out a napkin at any Senate hangout and get signatures of support for one issue or another from scores of senators,” according to Connie Bruck in The New Yorker.

As AIPAC’s former policy director, Rosen and “Iran specialist” at AIPAC Keith Weissman met with Larry Franklin, a top Pentagon analyst working on Iran, prior to Franklin leaking a draft presidential directive “that proposed a tougher policy on Iran, which included consideration of covert action towards regime change,” according to Democracy Now. That document made its way into AIPAC’s hands, which passed it on to Israeli officials.

Former AIPAC President David Steiner was even forced to resign after audio was leaked of him bragging about how he was negotiating with Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign to appoint people to key posts in his administration. Steiner ultimately recanted and apologized to both AIPAC and Bill Clinton.
