Aantal daklozen in Groot-Brittannië onder Tory bewind meer dan verdubbeld

Terwijl de politieke leiders die er toe doen in Groot-Brittannië (GB), zijne kwaadaardige hufterigheid Boris Johnson, de premier, plus grootschoft en oplichter Keir Starmer van Labour, die zich gedraagt als een Tory politicus, over elkaar heen buitelen over 'het succes' dat men Brexit noemt (terwijl beiden eerder tegenstander waren van die Brexit), wordt een belangrijke groep met opzet vergeten, de daklozen en dan m.n. de wat men in GB 'rough sleepers' noemt, mensen die zijn overgeleverd aan de elementen...... Volgens The Guardian zijn er 320.000 rough sleepers in GB, maar reken gerust dat dit aantal veel groter is........

Het aantal van deze daklozen is de laatste 5 jaar onder Tory bewind meer dan verdubbeld, mensen die een sterk kortere levensverwachting hebben dan de gemiddelde Brit: 30 jaar korter, dus niet de 75 jaar voor mannen en 73 jaar voor vrouwen, maar respectievelijk 45 en 43 jaar.......

Raechel Swindon schreef een artikel over deze zaak en maakt zich flink pissig over de gelogen cijfers die de overheid gebruikt als het om daklozen gaat.....

Zeker Starmer moet zich de oren van de rotkop schamen, immers hij heeft met hulp van een flink aantal valse Labour politici en de media (inclusief de zogenaamde onafhankelijke BBC) de verkiezingen gestolen van de echte Labour leider Jeremy Corbyn (ten voordele van de Tories) dit met de smerige leugen dat hij antisemiet zou zijn, een aantoonbare smerige leugen die ook de media buiten GB herhaalden, ook al had men alle mogelijkheden om deze leugen door te prikken...... (ook de media in ons land herhaalden deze leugen, inclusief de zogenaamd onafhnakelijke NOS.......)

 

'Gewone daklozen' in GB......

Corbyn is een politicus die zich wel deze enorme ellende aantrok en daar een eind aan wilde maken, zoals hij ook een eind wilde maken aan het feit dat dagelijks meer dan 4 miljoen kinderen met honger naar school gaan, waar ze de eerste maaltijd van de dag krijgen (waardoor ze 'uiteraard' het onderwerp van spot zijn van hun klasgenoten....). De Tories en eerder Labour o.a. onder de zware oorlogsmisdadiger Tony Blair, weigerden (en weigeren) iets aan deze zaak te veranderen, door de werkloze ouders een inkomen te geven waarmee ze hun kinderen fatsoenlijk te eten kunnen geven.....

Wat betreft het voorgaande moet nog opgemerkt worden dat het werkelijke aantal kinderen dat honger lijdt nu veel hoger moet zijn, waarschijnlijk zelfs bijna 5 miljoen..... Nog erger: door de 'lock downs' werden en zijn scholen gesloten en deze kinderen moeten nu dus hun schoolmaaltijden missen.....

En nee, het is niet 1821 maar 2021.....

The Rough Sleeping Crisis Is A Moral Emergency - Made By The Tories

While the Covid-19 pandemic continues to seize control of the news agenda, and Tory Prime Minister Johnson and Diet Tory Leader Starmer thrash it out over who can be the most Brexity - which is rather bizarre for a pair of closet Remainers - the domestic agenda hasn’t just been overlooked, it has been completely and utterly abandoned. 

The most obvious example of this neglect from the political class can be found sleeping in shop doorways, multi-story car parks, allotment sheds, and just about anywhere that might provide some short term shelter from the elements.

The UK has seen a fair amount of snowfall over the last few days, and the forecast ahead suggests temperatures will be hovering around freezing for a while yet.

Be in no doubt, the rough sleeping crisis was out of control before the arrival of Covid-19. In fact, consecutive Conservative governments have more than DOUBLED the number of people sleeping rough.

Since the global turn to austerity in 2010, every country that introduced significant austerity has seen its economy suffer, with the depth of the suffering closely related to the harshness of the austerity.

The ideological austerity that dominated elite discourse five years ago has now collapsed - to the point where hardly anyone still believes it - but the consequences of the huge cuts to public spending are still very real.

Rough sleeping is the most brutal form of homelessness, but we still do not have a clear picture of how many people are forced to sleep on our streets throughout the year. This is because the government get their numbers based on counting the number of people seen on one night alone. It’s just a snapshot.

This cannot and will not accurately reflect the real scale of the problem.

While the government claimed some 4,266 humans are sleeping on our cold streets, figures gathered from local councils and homelessness charities indicate the true numberis around FIVE times higher. 

I don’t know why, but I tend to invest more of my trust in established charities than I would ever consider investing in establishment politicians. 

Back in April, Robert Jenrick, the Secretary of State for Richard Desmond, boldly claimed:

“Our plan to protect rough sleepers has resulted in over 90% being offered safe accommodation”

This was following the government’s ‘Everyone In scheme’, launched in March by Jenrick, which gave emergency funding to help rough sleepers self-isolate in hotels and other housing during the height of the pandemic.

That 90% sounds impressive, doesn’t it?

It also makes you wonder why consecutive Conservative governments hadn’t already dealt with the rough sleeping crisis. If a vast majority of people sleeping rough could be housed, or at least offered housing, with such apparent ease, why didn’t David Cameron, Theresa May and Boris Johnson do something about it before?

All three of them have made the crisis demonstrably worse.

When Boris Johnson was Mayor of London he promised to eliminate rough sleeping in the capital city, by the year 2012, just in time for the Olympics. Instead of eliminating it, he doubled it.

The 90% figure touted by Jenrick is entirely false, of course. 

Reports of people sleeping rough INCREASED during lockdown. Does this suggest 90% were either housed, or even offered adequate accommodation? No. 

 

Figures from homelessness charity Streetlink showed alerts by members of the public about people sleeping rough soared by 36% year on year between April and June 2020, reaching 16,976. The rise was particularly pronounced in London where there was a 76% increase, making up a shocking 71% of all alerts.

Does this suggest 9 in 10 of people sleeping rough were offered some form of accommodation?

No. Of course not.

The criticism of the government's blatant figure-fiddling also came from the Office for Statistics Regulation, who slammed ministers for a lack of transparency by quoting figures without publishing supporting data. In other words, chatting shit without an iota of supporting evidence - bog standard for this lousy government.

 

Beneath all of this data and deception are human beings. Mothers, fathers, sons and daughters, children - it could be absolutely any one of us.

We - and I mean all of us that have compassion for our fellow humans, regardless of politician persuasion - cannot just turn a blind eye to these levels of destitution and suffering.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t walk past some poor soul, huddled up in the doorway of a vacant shop, shivering cold, without feeling like a little bit of me is dying on the inside.

There were an estimated 778 deaths of homeless people in England and Wales registered in 2019, an increase of 7.2% from 2018. That’s nearly fifteen deaths, every single week. This colossal number of tragic deaths has more than doubled over the past 5 Tory years.

  GGGVD!!!!!

It is heartbreaking that hundreds of people were forced to spend the last days of their lives without the dignity of a secure home. This is a moral emergency and none of us can continue to stand by - we need urgent action from the government.

In 2018, the average age at death of people sleeping rough was just 45 for men and 43 for women. This is more than 30 years lower than the average age at death of the general population of England and Wales.

I’ve done a bit of research, and homeless charity Crisis UK kindly offered me a little bit of advice on what YOU can do to help people sleeping rough.A national emergency requires a national response.

•Finally, one of the most important things you can do is simply stop and talk to someone. Rough sleeping can be an isolating, devastating experience – a shared word could make all the difference.

A representative from Crisis UK told me:

“The other question we're often asked is about giving money directly to people rather than buying them food. We leave the cash issue to an individual's own discretion but suggest they ask the person if they'd like a coffee etc before getting them one.

We've also found recently that people have started carrying around vouchers for places like Greggs and handing them out instead of cash. Right now, with so many cashless transactions happening, it's a handy alternative to finding spare change.”

I have read some devastating stories putting this piece together. Can you even begin to imagine what it would be like bedding down in the sewers, with the rats, for FOUR MONTHS?

I have read so many stories that you simply wouldn’t believe to be possible in a country of such vast wealth - a country that is home to more than 150 billionaires.

This is a national scandal, a national emergency, and by god does it need a national response, because the rough sleeping epidemic already has a vaccine, and it is called “a home”. This disease has been left untreated for way too long. 

It is a stain on the consciences of every single one of us.

Shops, offices, and houses lay empty up and down the land, while human beings are freezing to death on our streets.

Do you have to be a socialist to find this morally repugnant?

I sincerely hope not.

I’m going to finish up with this little poem that I found that was created by a person sleeping rough, named as Jacob.

“All I got is this bag

Tattered and so frayed

One pair of socks to call my own

No place for my head to lay.

Beg for money to buy my foodNo fork or knife, man this is crude

I wish I knew what I could do

I should slam a six of booze.

People passing in fine business suits

As if I am not here

“I am a man!” I want to shout

This life is hard to bare.

There is no job to be had

So I sit and hope for better things

I organize my tattered bag 

Whatever it takes to not feel sad.

We can, and we must put an end to the rough sleeping emergency.

VN beschuldigt Lib Dems in GB van een inhumaan bezuinigingsprogramma dat miljoenen mensen en kinderen heeft getroffen

Dit bericht lag al te lang op een berg concepten en ik had het eigenlijk voor de EU verkiezingen willen publiceren, daar met de kennis van het hieronder opgenomen artikel de Britse liberaal democraten, ofwel de Lib Dems, een klap zouden krijgen tijdens die EU verkiezingen, echter daar was geen sprake van, integendeel de partij steeg van 1 naar 15 zetels.....

In het hieronder opgenomen artikel geschreven door James Wright en gepubliceerd op The Canary, aandacht voor een rapport van de VN Mensenrechtencommissie (UNHRC) waarin de vloer wordt aangeveegd met de bezuinigingsmaatregelen van de regering Cameron en dan m.n. de rol van de Lib Dems daarin: het mogelijk maken van deze bezuinigingen.....

Philip Alston, de speciaal rapporteur extreme armoede van de VN stelt dat het resultaat van deze bezuinigingen bestaan uit de volgende zaken die 14 miljoen Britten hebben getroffen: honger, dakloosheid en een fikse verkorting van de levensverwachting....... Het was al langer bekend dat meer dan 4 miljoen kinderen in GB dagelijks met honger naar school moeten...... Het is voor deze kinderen een grote vernedering om op school pas te kunnen ontbijten, een ontbijt en later een warme maaltijd die de ouders niet kunnen betalen..... Natuurlijk is dat ontbijt ook een bron van pesterijen tegen die kinderen..... 

Het is ronduit schandalig dat de opvolgende Britse regeringen die ouders niet meer geld uitkeren zodat ze zelf hun kinderen te eten te kunnen geven..... Deze Britse regeringen zijn 1 op 1 verantwoordelijk voor de situatie waarin deze arme gezinnen verkeren en dan durfden deze regeringen (als de huidige) te stellen dat die ouders extra geld niet zullen besteden aan voedsel voor hun kinderen....... Nogmaals: schandalig!!! 

Wright stelt dat deze bezuinigingsmaatregelen er met name verantwoordelijk voor zijn dat men voor de Brexit koos, echter daar stel ik wel wat vraagtekens bij...... Een flink deel van de arme Britten zijn bepaald geen aanhanger van Ukip, de partij die pro-Brexit was, simpel door het feit dat zij ofwel gekleurd zijn, dan wel dat ze behoren tot de nieuwe Britten, de Oost-Europeanen, die tegen een schandalig laag inkomen het zware werk doen in GB, een groep op wie Ukip bij voortduring inhakt, daar zij 'de banen van hardwerkende Britten hebben gestolen......'

Wat mij betreft is het zoveelste bewijs dat neoliberaal beleid leidt tot grote armoede, ja zelfs honger en een stuk lagere levensverwachting in de onderlaag van de maatschappij......... 

Vergeet niet dat in ook in Nederland rond de 4 miljoen mensen tegen, op of onder de armoedegrens moeten leven, dat is 3 keer in armoede leven en dat is vooral voor de kinderen in die groep, rond de 600.000 (en niet 400.000 zoals het CBS je wil laten geloven), een traumatiserend leven..... Immers zij worden op school herkend door hun leeftijdsgenoten, daar het hen aan veel zaken ontbreekt en de school de reisjes e.d. voor die kinderen zelf moet betalen, daar de ouders simpelweg geen geld hebben..... Overigens ook wordt in Nederland al gesproken over kinderen die zonder ontbijt naar school gaan......

Veel van deze kinderen worden gepest op school, tel dat op bij het ontbreken van zaken die voor leeftijdsgenoten van hen de normaalste zaak van de wereld zijn (zoals op vakantie gaan) en het is niet moeilijk te bedenken dat deze kinderen getraumatiseerd zijn dan wel raken...... Daarnaast is er in gezinnen die in armoede moeten leven veel vaker ruzie tussen de ouders, die bij god niet weten hoe ze de touwtjes aan elkaar moeten knopen...... (het is dan ook volkomen imbeciel te denken dat deze kinderen later gaan studeren, zeker niet nadat het meer dan walgelijke asociale leenstelsel werd ingevoerd met hulp van 'GroenLinks')

The UN gives the Lib Dems a massive headache just a day before the EU elections

The UN has given the Liberal Democrats a massive headache only a day before the EU elections, which take place on 23 May in the UK.

“Tragic” policies

The Human Rights Council report, released on 22 May, states that “policies of austerity introduced in 2010” have had “tragic social consequences”. Witsh the Lib Dems gaining support through Remain protest votes, this report may serve as a stark reminder. As part of David Cameron’s coalition, the Lib Dems enabled an austerity regime that, according to UN special rapporteur on extreme poverty Philip Alston, has “crystal clear” results:

14 million people living in poverty, record levels of hunger and homelessness, falling life expectancy for some groups, ever fewer community services, and greatly reduced policing, while access to the courts for lower-income groups has been dramatically rolled back by cuts to legal aid.

“Ideological prospect”

Lib Dem leader Vince Cable was secretary of state for business in David Cameron’s coalition government. Speaking about the report, Alston continued:

The imposition of austerity was an ideological project designed to radically reshape the relationship between the Government and the citizenry.

UK standards of well-being have descended precipitately in a remarkably short period of time, as a result of deliberate policy choices made when many other options were available.

Alston also said that Brexit has “become a tragic distraction from the social and economic policies that in the meantime are shaping” Britain. And the Brexit vote might not have happened if the Conservatives and Lib Dems hadn’t brought us austerity. District-level analysis from the University of Warwick actually indicates that “slightly less harsh” spending cuts from the Conservative / Lib Dem coalition could’ve swayed the referendum result. On top of that, the Lib Dems promised an EU referendum (in the event of further EU integration) in their 2015 manifesto and then voted Cameron’s proposal for the 2016 poll through parliament.

The Lib Dems, enablers of austerity and Brexit, are now chasing Remainers in the EU elections. But voters should not forget the recent history of the party. This UN report is nothing short of a stark reminder.

Er wordt al wekenlang reclame gemaakt voor uitzending van de Britser film: 'Brexit: The Uncivil War'. Een film waarin men de achtergrond van de Brexit schetst.....

Uiteraard zal men weer met het cliché komen dat de Brexit een product is van fascisten en oude seniele mensen..... (terwijl het maar de vraag is of een nieuw Brexit-referendum niet dezelfde uitslag zal geven.....)

            

Beter had men een film gemaakt over de echte onbeschaafde oorlogen waar Groot-Brittannië keer op keer aan meedoet, zoals de illegale oorlogen tegen Afghanistan, Irak, Libië en Syrië, waarbij intussen meer dan 2,5 miljoen mensen werden vermoord en waarvoor de opvolgende Britse regeringen wegens oorlogsmisdaden al lang hadden moeten vastzitten......

Illegale en uitermate onbeschaafde oorlogen die de Britse belastingbetaler ook nog eens een enorm kapitaal aan belastinggeld hebben gekost, terwijl er 'zeer beschaafd' 4 miljoen kinderen dagelijks met honger naar school gaan, waar ze dan hun ontbijt krijgen....... De opvolgende Britse regeringen, ook Labour, hebben voor deze hulp gekozen en niet de ouders meer geld gegeven zodat ze zelf hun kinderen te eten kunnen geven voor ze naar school gaan, 'uitermate beschaafd', zoals je begrijpt.....

Het laatste geldt al helemaal als je nagaat dat die opvolgende 'beschaafde regeringen' door wanbeleid een enorm aantal werklozen hebben gecreëerd, waaronder de ouders die hun kinderen zelfs geen ontbijt kunnen geven........

Theresa May hoort in de gevangenis, aldus ex-Tory lid Reynolds

Een prominent Tory-lid, journalist en leider van de 'CLEAR Cannabis Law Reform campaign group'*, Peter Reynolds heeft zijn lidmaatschap van de partij opgezegd en steekt dit bepaald niet onder stoelen of banken.

Lees zijn relaas, waarin hij May als premier zonder mandaat en misdadiger afschildert, een misdadiger die 'in het openbaar' zou moeten worden gestraft.........

Het neoliberale beleid van May en haar regering is desastreus, zeker voor de grote onderlaag in Groot-Brittannië, een onderlaag waarvan meer dan 4 miljoen kinderen al jaren met honger naar school moeten, waar ze te eten krijgen...... Je gaat als inhumane neoliberale regering natuurlijk niet zorgen dat de ouders meer geld krijgen, zodat ze zelf hun kinderen te eten kunnen geven, 'stel je voor........'

Normaal toch, dat die kinderen met een trauma komen te zitten, dat ze hun leven lang niet meer kwijt raken.....? De armoede moet natuurlijk wel als afschrikwekkend middel op grootte worden gehouden, zodat de arbeiders braaf hun werk tegen een veel te laag salaris blijven uitvoeren, niet gaan staken, waarbij ze de kans lopen ontslagen te worden en ze ook in armoede kunnen wegzinken........

A prominent Tory’s resignation letter is the most delicious thing you’ll read this week

A journalist and prominent member of the Conservative Party has handed in his resignation. But instead of going quietly, he has made his feelings known publicly. And he pulls no punches, saying Theresa May should be “led in chains out of Downing Street and placed in stocks in Parliament Square”.

A rather liberal Tory

Peter Reynolds is a journalist and leader of the CLEAR Cannabis Law Reform campaign group. He previously worked as Creative Director for PR firm Saatchi & Saatchi, and wrote a weekly column for The Independent. But Reynolds is also a vocal member of the Conservative Party, writing about party policy and general politics.

On 31 August, he used his blog to publish his resignation letter from the Tory party – following months of criticism of May’s leadership.

“Farcical” May

Reynolds reproduced his emailed resignation, which you can read in full here. It began:

“After the disastrous handling of the EU referendum result, the ludicrous decision to appoint one of the most incompetent and out-of-touch ministers as Prime Minister and her farcical election performance, I have been wrestling for some time as to whether to renew my membership.”

He went on to call May an “authoritarian bigot” with “no mandate” and “no respect”. He also took aim at the cabinet, saying:

“It is also self-evident that all other minsters are too weak, cowardly and neurotic about their own jobs to do anything to stop her.”

Prepare your rotten tomatoes 

But he also gave a critical appraisal of how May and her cabinet are dealing with Brexit, saying they have:

“failed entirely to plan for a leave vote and they have dithered, waffled, dodged and tripped up again and again, achieving absolutely nothing in the period since the result.”

He concludes that May has “wrecked” Brexit and “damaged Britain irreparably in the process”. He says this has left the UK in a “tragic and diminished state”. And he also thinks May “richly deserves” a punishment for her failings:

“ if I had my way Mrs May would be led in chains out of Downing Street and placed in stocks in Parliament Square to endure the humiliation she so richly deserves.”

Oh, Jeremy Corbyn!

But while Reynolds’ email is blistering, it’s his previous appraisal of the Conservative Party more broadly which could give May food for thought. In an article called Has There Ever Been A Worse UK Government Than This?, he points to multiple failings going back to David Cameron’s era which have led the Tories to the weakened position they’re in now.

He asserts in the piece that May is a:

“fake Tory, an authoritarian bureaucrat with big government, nanny state instincts, daughter of a high Anglican priest stuck in some 1950s delusion of what Britain is today.”

But at the same time, he notes that:

“a socialist activist but a man with integrity, courage and vision has stolen our place. Jeremy Corbyn provides more leadership in the UK than the entire Conservative cabinet put together. He was magnificent at Glastonbury, seizing the hearts and minds of not just the young but the young at heart – seizing the future! Where is the Tory alternative?”

Not unusual

Reynolds’ views come as the latest opinion polling gives Corbyn’s Labour a five-point lead over the Tories. So the PM would do well to have a read of Reynolds’ criticisms. Because as it stands, her party is looking more and more fragile by the day. And the views of this rather ‘liberal’ Tory could well ring true with the public.
