Donderde gisteren van m'n stoel toen ik de tekst van een Care2 mail onder ogen kreeg, daarin het bericht dat een Franse rechtbank op de eis van de Franse dierenbeschermingsorganisatie Société Protectrice des Animaux (SPA) heeft geoordeeld dat het stierenvechten niet verbiedt daar het 'te populair is.....' De SPA wil volkomen terecht een eind maken aan dit barbaarse en uiterst bloedige 'gevecht....' Het is voor de stier geen gevecht, immers niet om gevraagd, maar pure verdediging en een strijd uit doodsangst.....
Paarden zijn ook vaak slachtoffer van deze openbare martelingen van dieren.........
Ongelofelijk dat 'rechters' tot een dergelijk besluit kunnen komen, alsof we gvd nog in 1560 leven!! Deze zogenaamde rechters gingen nog verder en veroordeelden de SPA tot het betalen van de proceskosten van € 3.000,--........
Het is als het oordelen dat een bepaalde moord 'populair is onder het volk' en daarom niet wordt vervolgd...... Het is overigens maar de vraag in hoeverre dit stierenvechten nog populair is onder het Franse volk en kan me niet voorstellen dat niet minstens 80% van de Fransen hier schoon genoeg van heeft en een verbod wenst.....
Schunnig genoeg oordeelden de 'rechters' dat stierenvechten niet eerlijk is en dat de dieren sterk lijden onder deze vreselijke dierenmishandeling (al durfden deze rechters de laatste woorden niet te gebruiken), echter de lokale traditie is belangrijker dan een eind te maken aan deze barbaarse en bloedige 'cultuur uiting......'
Bij het zoeken op dit onderwerp zag ik dat de EU tot eind vorig jaar rond de 130 miljoen euro uit de landbouwsubsidies gaf voor deze schoften traditie..... (ofwel ook jij en ik hebben vele jaren lang meebetaald aan deze dierenmishandeling.....) Landelijk gaat er nog steeds 570 miljoen euro naar de psychopaten die achter deze schunnige dierenmishandeling staan en deze mogelijk maken......
Er moet een eind komen aan het martelen van dieren: lees en teken de petitie ajb en geeft het door!! (de petitie is gericht aan het Franse parlement dat een eind kan maken aan deze vreselijke dierenmishandeling)

A French court said this animal torture sport was too popular to be banned. Stand up for the animals and end bullfighting, now!
A court in the south of France just decided the gruesome "sport" of bullfighting can continue on. Despite the fact that the judges acknowledged bullfighting is cruel and subjects the animals to "significant suffering," they concluded that local traditions in Nimes were too important to be "disrupted." In fact, they went even further, claiming: "we should retain the local tradition." Not only did the local court uphold and protect bullfighting — it also billed a French animal welfare organization €3,000 for bringing the case to trial at all!
Laws already exist banning animal cruelty, and they state that perpetrators can be punished by as much as €30,000 in fines and even two years in prison. Judges stated these anti-cruelty laws don't apply to the case of bullfighting because of its popularity. But according to polls, the tide is turning against this practice in both France and the rest of the world. Luckily, multiple members of the French government are trying to make this matter right. Let's stand with them. Sign the petition to tell the federal government of France to step up and ban bullfighting nationwide!

Courts in the south of France have just decided the gruesome "sport" of bullfighting can continue on — because apparently the popularity of "local traditions" in Nîmes was more important than preventing cruelty against animals.
An
animal welfare organization, the Société Protectrice des Animaux (SPA),
had tried to stand against bullfighting in court, arguing that there
was no sufficient rationale for preserving bullfighting that could be
more important than protecting animals' wellbeing.
The local magistrate court disagreed.
Luckily, there's a way to overturn this. Tell the federal government of France to step up and ban bullfighting nationwide!
Laws
that ban animal cruelty already state that perpetrators can be punished
by as much as €30,000 in fines and even two years in prison. But judges stated these anti-cruelty laws don't apply to the case of bullfighting
because local Nîmes traditions are too important to be "disrupted." In
fact, instead of levying fines against any of the bullfighting
perpetrators, the SPA will be required to pay €3,000 for bringing the
case to trial at all!
Interestingly, the judges did accept that
bullfighting is unfair to the animals and subjects bulls to "significant
suffering." Yet because bullfighting might potentially be
"interest[ing]" to "a sufficient number of people," the court concluded:
"we should retain the local tradition."
Well that's bull****.
In
fact, the tide is turning against bullfighting in both France and the
rest of the world. Several years ago, in 2018, a poll conducted in
France showed that around 74% of the public disapproved of bullfights
when they resulted in animals' deaths.
Luckily, some members of
the French government are already hard at work to make this matter
right. In January of this year, multiple MPs came forward to suggest
removing bullfighting from the protected category of "traditional"
events. So far, though, this bill is not scheduled for a vote.
It's
time for the French government to get with the times and promote animal
welfare. Sign the petition to ban all bullfighting in the country of
France!
