Venezuela: geen westerse media aandacht voor proces tegen een geheim agent van de VS

Kwam gisteren een wat ouder bericht tegen van MintPress News (d.d. 26 februari jl.) waarin wordt gemeld dat de reguliere westerse (massa-) media geen aandacht hadden voor een proces in Venezuela tegen een geheim agent uit de VS.... Wat mij betreft niet opzienbarend, daar we al op zoveel manieren hebben gezien hoe partijdig die media over Venezuela berichten. Neem alleen al de economische situatie in het land, de westerse media en politici hebben telkens weer het gore lef te stellen dat dit aan het beleid van Maduro ligt.....

Met geen woord rept men dan in de westerse politiek en reguliere (massa-) media over de illegale sancties (zonder VN resolutie) van de VS, Canada, Groot-Brittannië en de EU, de werkelijke oorzaak voor de economische ellende in Venezuela...... (moet je nagaan: die politici hebben zich zelf achter die sancties geschaard.....) Deze zogenaamde onafhankelijke media zullen hun eigen regeringen niet afvallen, al zeker niet als het om een socialistisch land gaat en wellicht erger nog: dan zouden ze hun eerdere eigen zwaar gekleurde berichtgeving onder de loep moeten leggen en moeten toegeven dat men het bij het verkeerde eind had en dat doet men tegenwoordig niet meer..... (hoewel, er is één uitzondering*) Zie wat dat betreft de berichtgeving in die media over de illegale oorlogen van de VS tegen Afghanistan, Irak, Libië en Syrië, alle aangegaan op basis van leugens en dat weet men in die media dondersgoed, echter niet één rectificatie van de eerdere overgenomen leugens, die tot deze illegale oorlogen hebben geleid......

Matthew John Heath, de geheim agent van de VS, werd in september vorig jaar gearresteerd toen hij zich buiten de Amuay en Caroin olieraffinaderij bevond. In zijn bezit: een machinepistool, een granaatwerper, C4 explosieven, een satelliettelefoon en een grote hoeveelheid 20 dollar biljetten..... Verder was hij in het bezit van een bewijs dat hij een CIA agent was zodat hij een andere agent kon laten zien wie hij was zonder achterdocht te wekken......  Uiteraard ontkende Heath alle aanklachten. 

Eerder was er sprake van sabotage in dezelfde olieraffinaderij: in 2012 brak er brand uit in deze raffinaderij daarbij kwamen 55 mensen om het leven, uitgebreid onderzoek toonde aan dat er sprake was van sabotage..... Je behoeft dan ook niet te vragen waarom Heath zich ophield bij deze raffinaderij....... (bij het stilleggen van deze raffinaderij zou er een nog groter gebrek komen aan brandstof >> met dat soort zaken, zoals de illegale sancties hoopt de VS het volk zo ontevreden te krijgen dat ze het vertrek eisen van president Maduro.......)

De VS heeft geen woord vuil gemaakt aan deze zaak, ondanks de beschuldiging van Venezuela dat de VS ook achter deze mislukte aanslag zit, niet vreemd als je ziet dat de VS sinds Hugo Chavez aan het bewind kwam een fiks aantal keren heeft geprobeerd de boel in Venezuela te saboteren, Chavez te vermoorden, opstandelingen heeft opgeleid en bewapend en ga nog maar even door.... Volgens behoorlijk wat mensen is Chavez uiteindelijk inderdaad vermoord in opdracht van de VS, hoogstwaarschijnlijk met een CIA actie...... De VS heeft nadat Hugo Chavez in 1998 president werd, Venezuela dan ook aangemerkt als vijand.....

De VS heeft in 2019 de fascistische psychopaat en VS bipslikker Guaidó aangesteld als president van Venezuela, hij zou oppositieleider zijn, echter toen men hem 'president maakte' was hij goed voor zo'n 2% van de stemmen en nog steeds is zijn partij klein in Venezuela, de grootste oppositiepartijen moeten niets van hem hebben...... (en dan durft de VS te stellen dat het zich nooit met verkiezingen elders bemoeit.... ha! ha! ha! ha!**)

Media Completely Ignore American Secret Agent’s Trial For Terrorism In Venezuela

(MPN) — Unless you read the local Venezuelan press, you are unlikely to know that an American secret agent is currently standing trial in Venezuela on charges of terrorism and weapons trafficking.

Matthew John Heath was arrested in September outside Amuay and Cardon oil refineries in possession of a submachine gun, a grenade launcher, C4 explosives, a satellite phone and bricks of $20 bills. The Venezuelan government also alleges that he was found carrying a small coin or badge that CIA employees use to prove their identity to one another without raising suspicions. On Wednesday, Heath pled not guilty to all charges.

Situated in Falcon state in the west of the country, the Amuay and Cardon facilities are the largest refineries in the oil-rich nation, considered an enemy of the United States since it elected socialist president Hugo Chavez in 1998. The facilities have been the site of controversy before: in 2012, a fire at the plants killed 55 people; after conducting hundreds of interviews with experts and witnesses and carrying out over 200 inspections and technical tests, the Venezuelan government claimed that the evidence of sabotage was “overwhelming.”

A Spy Falls

A former marine, Heath is also widely reported to have been a CIA agent, serving the agency as a communications operator between 2006 and 2016, at which time he took a job at security firm MVM (for obvious reasons, the CIA does not confirm or deny the identity of its staff). Although MVM is technically a private company, it was founded by three former Secret Service agents and continues to work closely with Washington. According to business directory Dun & Bradstreet, the firm “provides security staffing and consulting services, primarily to U.S. government entities.” Indeed, the only clients listed on its website are American government agencies. “Need a secret agent?” begins its description of the company.

There is not a hint of this, however, on MVM’s public-facing website, which describes the organization as merely “providing extensive domain expertise in the areas of counter-narcotics, criminal and civil investigations, public safety, and national security.” MVM’s 800 employees, it states, are here to offer “professional and administrative services, … informational technology services, … and mission solutions.”

This follows a broader trend of the U.S. government outsourcing clandestine operations to private contractors — a process that ensures there is less accountability and public scrutiny, as well as one that keeps its more controversial actions at arm’s length. “A lot of what we do today was done covertly 25 years ago by the CIA,” said Allen Weinstein, cofounder of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), an organization that funds pro-American groups worldwide.

Radio Silence

One might think that a supposedly innocent American citizen on trial for terrorism inside a hostile enemy country, facing decades behind bars in Venezuela’s notorious prisons, would spark a nationwide media furor — especially as Heath claims that he was tortured while incarcerated. But far from it. In fact, there has been zero mention of the case in national U.S. media this week, including nothing in The New York Times, CNN, MSNBC, ABC News, The Washington Post, Fox News, or USA Today. This is striking, as the news was published on the largest newswire service, Reuters, meaning that virtually every outlet in the West must have seen it and could freely republish it themselves or use its material for a story.

Virtually the only Western media outlets touching the story were local news stations in Tennessee, Heath’s home state. Yet none of those outlets mentioned Heath’s alleged background as a secret agent, nor the incriminating items in possession of which he was arrested, rather presenting him as a completely innocent victim of an authoritarian regime. Few even offered an explanation as to why, amid a raging pandemic, he would leave the U.S. and go to Venezuela of all places. NBC affiliate WBIR Channel 10 was the only exception, claiming he had traveled there to gain “more boating experience,” a defense that is unlikely to convince many Venezuelan prosecutors.

The State Department, which rarely misses an opportunity to denounce Venezuela’s Maduro government for human rights transgressions, has also been largely silent over the case. Its entire comment on the situation amounts to one tweet from spokesman Ned Price, in which he tepidly asks Venezuela for a “fair trial.”

Limited Hangout

The deafening silence from Washington and from corporate media suggests that Heath was indeed in Venezuela on official business and that the government has made a conscious decision to cut ties to him, leaving him to his fate so as to not draw more attention to its own actions. Kicking up a storm of protest would entail inviting far more scrutiny upon itself and potentially losing any plausible deniability that it is not engaged in a campaign of international terrorism against the South American nation.

The United States has been carrying out a decades-long push for regime change against the Venezuelan government, supporting coup attempts, funding and training political movements, and propping up self-declared president Juan Guaidó as the country’s rightful ruler. In January, the U.S. lost its most powerful ally in the cause, as the European Union chose to stop recognizing Guaidó after he lost his seat in the Venezuelan National Assembly in recent elections.

Earlier in the year, the U.S. was similarly caught with its hand in the cookie jar, after two former Green Berets led an amphibious invasion on Venezuela with the goal of shooting their way to the presidential palace and installing Guaidó as dictator. The attempt failed spectacularly, and few of the heavily armed fighters managed to even make it to land, the event quickly being dubbed Donald Trump’s “Bay of Piglets.” Trying to defend themselves, the American mercenaries implicated a number of key figures, including Trump himself, as well as former Blackwater CEO Erik Prince. The coup plotters even claim they met at the Trump Doral resort in Miami. Then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo put out a half-hearted denial, claiming only that “there was no U.S. government direct involvement” in the botched coup attempt.

Heath’s case is the latest in a series of U.S. cloak and dagger moves against the Caribbean nation. Whether he is found guilty or not, it appears that he will be receiving no help from the U.S. government. When things go wrong in espionage, you are apparently on your own.

Opvallend dat een aantal van de voorgestelde zaken die deze drie terreurstaten wensen te nemen, precies de zaken zijn waar het westen Rusland van beschuldigt....... Het zijn bovendien ook handelingen die de VS al vele malen eerder heeft gebruikt tegen landen die haar niet welgevallig zijn.... Neem alleen al het gelul en hysterie over 'fake news' ('nepnieuws'), met het voornemen van de drie eerder genoemde terreurstaten, ook het nieuws te manipuleren, laat men daar zien dat men dit middel al eerder heeft ingezet..... Op zich geen nieuws, immers er zijn voorbeelden te over van liegen door bijvoorbeeld de geheime diensten van de VS, al is het erkennen van deze nieuwsmanipulaties elders, door deze drie staten, wel degelijk nieuws!

Saudi Intelligence Met with Trump Admin and Mossad To Discuss Iran Sabotage and Assassinations

A plan to use private intelligence operatives to sabotage Iran was developed by Trump confidant George Nade and Joel Zamel, an Israeli known for his “deep ties” to Israeli intelligence and security agencies.

WASHINGTON – A new report published in The New York Times has revealed that top Saudi intelligence officials with ties to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), in meetings with figures close to the Trump administration and Israel intelligence, expressed interest in using private contractors to “sabotage the Iranian economy” and to assassinate top Iranian officials.

The plan to use private intelligence operatives to sabotage Iran’s economy had been developed by George Nader, an American-Lebanese businessman close to Trump and the United Arab Emirates (Nederlands: VAE) and a convicted sex offender, and Joel Zamel, an Israeli known for his “deep ties” to Israeli intelligence and security agencies. The plan, at the time of the meeting, did not include the assassination component, though the Saudi officials present sought to probe whether such acts could be included in the campaign.

The Times noted that both Nader and Zamel “saw their Iran plan both as a lucrative source of income and as a way to cripple a country that they and the Saudis considered a profound threat.” The plan was said to involve operations like “revealing hidden global assets of the Quds Force; creating fake social media accounts in Farsi to foment unrest in Iran; financing Iranian opposition groups; and publicizing accusations, real or fictitious, against senior Iranian officials to turn them against one another.” The two met with Saudi officials in early January 2017 in order to secure funding for the plan, which they estimated would cost around $2 billion.

Both Nader and Zamel are now witnesses in the investigation led by Robert Mueller into Trump campaign practices and alleged collusion. It is unclear how Nader and Zamel – who are connected to the United Arab Emirates and Israel, respectively – fit into Mueller’s inquiry, which has been publicized as focusing largely on alleged collusion with the Russian government.

Nader and Zamel had enlisted Erik Prince – the former head of the private military company Blackwater (now Academi) and Trump adviser — in their efforts to secure Saudi financing for their plan. In their discussion with Prince, Nader and Zamel were informed of Prince’s “own paramilitary proposals that he planned to try to sell the Saudis,” though the details of Prince’s proposals are unknown.

However, during the meeting, Saudi intelligence officials were apparently more interested in using private companies to assassinate “Iranian enemies of the kingdom [Saudi Arabia]” than in sabotaging Iran’s economy.  

During the discussion with Nader and Zamel, Saudi Maj. Gen. Ahmed al-Assiri inquired specifically whether the plan could include the assassination of Qassim Suleimani, the leader of Iran’s elite Quds Force, and other senior Iranian officials. Notably, al-Assiri has been named the man allegedly responsible for the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey in early October. Al-Assiri is also known for being a close confidant of MBS, who was deputy crown prince and defense minister at the time of the meeting.

Al-Assiri’s interest in a privatized assassination scheme was met tepidly by Nader and Zamel, who offered to consult their lawyer on the matter. Although their lawyer promptly rejected the idea, Nader, eager to please the Saudi officials whom they were seeking to win over, nevertheless told al-Assiri and the other Saudi officials present that a London-based company run by former British Special Operations troops might consider the contract for such high-profile assassinations. The Times stated that it was unclear which company Nader had suggested.

Though their ambitions to use private contractors to assassinate top Iranian officials did not receive the response they had hoped, Saudi officials reportedly told Nader and Zamel that – while they were interested in the plan – it was so “provocative and potentially destabilizing” that they wanted the approval of the incoming Trump administration before financing the campaign.

Was part of the plan enacted?

Though it is unclear whether the plan drafted by Nader and Zamel was ever enacted, there is some evidence suggesting that aspects of their plan as well as al-Assiri’s separate, privatized assassination plan were ultimately enacted in some form.

For instance, in early June of last year, the CIA created a “new mission center” in Iran that focused on fomenting domestic dissent and gathering intelligence, as well as on “covert action.” That mission center has been headed by CIA officer Michael D’Andrea, a close associate of former CIA Director John Brennan and a convert to Wahhabi Islam. After D’Andrea was appointed to head the center, former CIA case officer Robert Baer told Al Jazeera that “All I can say is that war with Iran is in the cards,” given that D’Andrea’s aggressive anti-Iran approach was well known within the CIA. Notably, the center’s activities fit with aspects of the Nader/Zamel plan aimed at revealing key Iranian government assets through intelligence gathering and covert ops.

Furthermore, the aspect of the Nader/Zamel plan that sought to create fake social media accounts to foment unrest in Iran was ultimately enacted through the creation of an Albania-based “troll farm” of fake anti-Iranian government accounts that was managed by the Iranian terror group MEK. That “troll farm,” according to an Al Jazeera report, had been used by the MEK to orchestrate what appeared to be a wave of support for the group and its anti-regime message toward the end of last year, when Iranians took to the streets to protest adverse economic conditions largely caused by a mixture of domestic legislation and intense pressure by Washington.

As MintPress reported at the time, many of those social media trends had been fueled by fake accounts, or bots, that behaved in an automated fashion and amplified messages through swarm-like behavior such as retweeting, liking, and republishing videos and articles posted alongside hashtags such as #FreeIran and #IranRegimeChange. Many top officials in the Trump administration, including John Bolton and Rudy Giuliani, are close to the MEK and its leader Maryam Rajavi. The MEK has also been supported in the past by Saudi Arabia, Israeli intelligence, and the U.S. military.

In addition to the aspects of the Nader/Zamel plan that appeared to have been implemented, Iran has recently accused “foreign regimes” and U.S. allies in the region, particularly Saudi Arabia, of plotting terror attacks within Iran. For instance, in June of last year, a pair of terror attacks in the Iranian capital of Tehran were blamed on Saudi Arabia by the Iranian government.

In a statement at the time, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps noted:

This terrorist action, coming one week after the meeting of the president of the United States with the leader of one of the region’s reactionary governments (Saudi Arabia) … shows they are involved in this savage action.”

Daesh (ISIS), which Saudi Arabia is known to fund, officially claimed responsibility for the attacks.

More recently, a terror attack in late September targeted an Iranian Veteran’s Day parade in the city of Ahvaz, killing 25 – more than half of whom were civilians. After the attack, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stated that “those who give intelligence and propaganda support to these terrorists must answer for it.” Rouhani’s comments were followed by a tweet from Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, who asserted that the attackers were “terrorists recruited, trained, armed and paid by a foreign regime,” but did not elaborate. He blamed regional countries and their “U.S. masters” for the attack, adding that Iran would respond “swiftly and decisively.”

Outsourcing assassination

Furthermore, it seems that some Gulf countries have used private military contractors for assassinations since al-Assiri first suggested the idea in the January 2017 meeting with Nader and Zamel. However, instead of targeting Iranian officials, the tactic has been used in Yemen.

A report published last month by Buzzfeed detailed how Green Beret, Navy SEAL, and CIA paramilitary veterans had been hired by the U.S.-based security company Spear Operations Group to serve as the “private murder squad” for Emirati Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed (MBZ), assassinating prominent Yemeni clerics and political figures who had run afoul of the crown prince. At the time MBZ’s “private murder squad” was active, Saudi Arabia’s al-Assiri was overseeing intelligence operations in Yemen in coordination with the UAE.

Whether these tactics were influenced by the January 2017 meeting of al-Assiri, Nader and Zamel is unclear. However, the details of the meeting and the recent efforts by the U.S. government and its Middle Eastern allies to foment regime change in Iran clearly show that these governments are willing to use the dirtiest of tactics in order to topple Iran’s government and clear the way for U.S. hegemony in the Middle East and beyond.

Eric Prince (oprichter Blackwater en oorlogsmisdadiger) wil oorlog in Afghanistan privatiseren.....

De smerige en uiterst gewelddadige superpsychopaat Eric Prince, oprichter van privé terreurleger Blackwater, kreeg bij tv zendgemachtigde MSNBC de kans, zonder enige kritiek, zijn vuige oorlogspraatjes te spuien....... Prince wil de oorlog in Afghanistan overnemen van het Pentagon en belooft daarbij succes, een gedachte die goed viel bij het beest Trump, zeker gezien 'de resultaten' van de oorlog die daar de laatste 17 jaar zijn geboekt*. 

Volkomen terecht merkte Stephen Miles van 'Win Without War' op, dat Prince in Den Haag terecht zou moeten staan voor het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC), al geldt dit ook voor een fiks aantal politici en hooggeplaatste militairen, de CIA, NSA en ga nog maar even door....... 

Prince is als directeur van Blackwater, na fiks wat smerige oorlogsmisdaden omgedoopt tot Academi (ha! ha! ha! hoe verzint hij het??) en is als zodanig één op één verantwoordelijk voor de moord en/of verminking op/van een groot aantal burgers in o.a. Irak en Afghanistan........ (waar men in de westerse reguliere media liever niet over spreekt....) 

Lees het volgende artikel van Jake Johnson, eerder gepubliceerd op Common Dreams en door mij overgenomen van Anti-War en zie hoe  de geesten in de VS langzaam maar zeker worden klaargemaakt voor oorlogsvoering door bedrijven als Academi...... Als dit gebeurt en er worden daarna bovendien warbots ingezet**, is het hek helemaal van de VS 'oorlogsdam.....' (een dam van ongeveer 5 centimeter hoog...)

Durden wijst op het steeds harder slaan op de 'oorlogstrommel' in mediaorganen als MSNBC, waar deze media oorlogshitsers als Prince en anderen hun gif laten spuien, oorlogshitsers die bijvoorbeeld aandringen bij Trump een volledige oorlog tegen Syrië te beginnen.... Terwijl i.p.v. de oorlog tegen de Taliban in Afghanistan te intensiveren met een psychopathisch huurlingenleger, deze oorlog eindelijk te beëindigen, totaal wordt genegeerd door die mediaorganen..... Een pleidooi onder andere gedaan door Stephen Miles van 'Win Without War', die kortweg stelde dat i.p.v. de oorlog te privatiseren, het beter is deze te beëindigen', een waarheid als een koe zoals je begrijpt.

(CD) — Amid reports that President Donald Trump is “showing renewed interest” in Blackwater founder Erik Prince’s plan to hand the war in Afghanistan over to a private army led by an “American viceroy,” MSNBC on Friday happily gave the notorious war profiteer a cushy platform to make his nonsensical and dangerous pitch to the president almost entirely unchallenged.

“Shame on MSNBC for giving Erik Prince a megaphone,” Stephen Miles, director of Win Without War, wrote on Twitter following Prince’s interview with MSNBC‘s Andrea Mitchell. “He belongs in The Hague, not spewing his warmongering for profit filth on television.”

Highlighting the failure of both the deadly “conventional” approach the U.S. has taken in Afghanistan over the past 16 years and Prince’s plan to continue the war for profit, Miles went on to suggest an option that—for obvious reasons—Mitchell and Prince both ignored, one that is virtually never aired on corporate media networks like MSNBC.

“What if—hear me out—instead of privatizing the war in #Afghanistan, we ended it,” Miles wrote. “Crazy, I know.”

Prince’s appearance on MSNBC came shortly after NBC News reported that Trump is growing increasingly impatient with his own administration’s strategy and looking toward Prince—the brother of billionaire Education Secretary Betsy DeVos—for possible alternatives.

“When Prince’s plan had Trump’s attention in 2017, it had the backing of his former strategist Steve Bannon and the president’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner,” NBC reported.

In recent meetings, Trump “has pressed his advisers about Afghanistan progress” and expressed interest in Prince’s plan to privatize the war, NBC noted, citing anonymous administration officials.

As usually happens when Prince makes his periodic appearances on corporate news shows to tout his opportunistic, for-profit war plan, critics were quick to highlight his horrendous track-record and argue that his plan to privatize the war in Afghanistan would lead to even less oversight and more bloodshed.

* 17 jaar lang is de oorlog in Afghanistan gaande (...) en als de VS en de rest van de NAVO niet vertrekken uit Afghanistan, kan het nog jaren, of zelfs decennia duren voordat de oorlog is afgelopen.... Moet je nagaan: Afghanistan is door de Nederlandse regering (al onder Rutte2, dus onder mede hoofdverantwoordelijkheid van de PvdA) veilig verklaard voor de terugkeer van vluchtelingen..... Wat een enorme rotschoft moet je zijn, om alleen al iets dergelijks te suggereren..........

** Die warbots worden al ontworpen en klaargemaakt voor productie, waarbij een drone in feite al een warbot is, de menselijke vinger aan de knop van drones die worden uitgerust met kunstmatige intelligentie (AI) zal spoedig verdwijnen, daar te veel dronepiloten geestelijk doordraaien, nadat ze weer vrouwen en kinderen hebben vermoord, die niet eens verdacht waren.....
