Op 11 en 12 juni heeft Israël alle het internet afgesloten in de Gazastrook....* Nadat Israël al meer dan 200 Palestijnse journalisten heeft vermoord in de Gazastrook, is het nu dus ook voor gewone burgers onmogelijk geworden om nog beelden van de op hen nog steeds uitgevoerde genocide de wereld in te sturen. Met de aanval op Iran op 13 juni (kan geen toeval zijn) kon dit alleen maar betekenen dat Israël de genocide in een hogere versnelling zou gaan uitvoeren, immers alle ogen waren gericht op de oorlog van Israël tegen Iran.... Alle pogingen om internettoegang te repareren worden met geweld tegengehouden door de beestachtig moordende militairen van het Israëlische fascistenleger....
De Palestijnen zitten niet alleen zonder voedsel en zonder schoon drinkwater, maar ook zonder elektriciteit, zonder brandstof (bijvoorbeeld voor het koken van voedsel of vervuild water en het uitvoeren van operaties enz....), zonder ziekenhuizen, artsen en verpleegkundigen, zonder journalisten en tot slot zelfs zonder de mogelijkheid om beelden de wereld in te sturen over de gruwelijkheden die op hen worden uitgevoerd door de beesten van het Israëlische leger.... En nog willen velen in het westen niet erkennen dat Israël een genocide uitvoert op het al zo verdrukte Palestijnse volk.... Op 10 juni jl. hebben Canada, Groot-Brittannië, Noorwegen, Nieuw Zeeland en Australië 2 ministers uit het psychopaten kabinet Netanyahu op de sanctielijst gezet vanwege het geweld tegen Palestijnen op de West Bank, waaraan men fijntjes toevoegde dat men 'uiteraard' voor de volle 100% achter Israël blijft staan (en wapens zal blijven leveren aan deze walgelijke fascistische staat.....) Met deze actie proberen de genoemde landen hun bevolkingen zand in de ogen te strooien, alsof ze zich wel zeker het lot van de Palestijnen aantrekken, echter daarmee de aandacht van de genocide in de Gazastrook afleidend, daar in dat concentratiekamp veel meer Palestijnen worden vermoord. Bovendien zou je als argeloze burger kunnen denken dat wat er op de West Bank gebeurt, veel verder gaat dan wat er in de Gazastrook gebeurt..... Hoe achterbaks moet je zijn, ongelofelijk!!!
Het was Caitlin Johnstone die het bericht over het platleggen van het internet in de wereld bracht, terwijl de reguliere westerse media vooral veel aandacht besteedden aan gewonden en een enkele dode die zijn gevallen in Oekraïne...... Waar onze NOS, zoals de Duitse staatszendgemachtigden met geen woord spraken over de 120 vermoorde Palestijnen, die alleen al in de laatste 24 uur tot 13.25 u. op 12 juni werden vermoord, dit nog naast een veel groter aantal gewonden, waar voor de meesten van hen zelfs geen behandeling mogelijk is.... Nee, de berichtgeving uit Oekraïne gaat voor alles en daarbij doet men het voorkomen dat Rusland met opzet burgerdoelen bombardeert, terwijl westerse journalisten, 'deskundigen', rechtse denktanks als het HCSS en Clingendael en de NAVO weten dat Oekraïne raketten en ander oorlogstuig heeft opgesteld tussen de huizen in dorpen en steden..... Bovendien haalt men met opzet drones en raketten neer boven bewoond gebied, waardoor de brokstukken veel schade aanrichten en waardoor mensen om het leven komen, zo kan men Rusland verder demoniseren....
Het is te vrezen dat met het afsnijden van het internet door Israël de laatste fase van de genocide op de Palestijnen is ingegaan......

Het kan niet toevallig zijn dat Israël daarna Iran heeft aangevallen (en een dag of elf bleef aanvallen), ofwel Israël heeft de genocide op de Palestijnen in een hogere versnelling gezet (en is dat blijven doen), daar alle aandacht was gericht op de aanvallen op Iran. Vergeet niet dat Israël ten eerste meer dan 200 journalisten heeft vermoord in de Gazastrook, ten tweede elke toegang blokkeert voor buitenlandse journalisten om in de Gazastrook hun werk te kunnen doen en ten derde nu dus ook de kans voor Palestijnen in de Gazastrook onmogelijk heeft gemaakt om beelden naar buiten te brengen....

Vandaag was het weer bingo op de Duitse radiozenders WDR 5 en Deutschlandfunk. Veel aandacht voor de Russische aanvallen op Oekraïne, maar geen aandacht voor wat er afgelopen nacht in de Gazastrook is gebeurd. Althans tot vanmiddag voor 13.30 u. >> toen had men op WDR 5 een correspondent uit Tel Aviv aan de lijn, deze vertelde over een Palestijnse familie, die achter hun gebombardeerde huis een tuintje hadden gemaakt waar ze tomaten en aubergines telen. Dit melden is belangrijk volgens de correspondent, daar er verder alleen maar ellende is te melden uit de Gazastrook..... Vlak voor het eind van dit onderdeel toch nog even aandacht voor de doden die dagelijks vallen in de Gazastrook. De presentator eindigde alsnog met het 'verheugende nieuws' over het tuintje van de Palestijnse familie....

Op 7 juli jl. meldde Haaretz dat het IDF de laatste 24 uur minstens 105 Palestijnen heeft vermoord en er 356 (ook ernstig) heeft verwond. En vergeet niet dat er veel van de gewonden zullen overlijden vanwege een gebrek aan behandelingsmogelijkheden. Het Rode Kruis meldde dezelfde dag dat het sinds de uitdeelpunten van het GHF werden geopend 2.200 Palestijnen heeft behandeld voor 'wapenwonden' in een veldhospitaal in Rafah en reken maar dat dit lang niet het gehele aantal door wapens verwondde Palestijnen is.... Het gaat hier volgens het Rode Kruis vooral om jonge mannen en jongens, maar ook peuters, vrouwen en ouden van dagen behoren tot deze verwonde Palestijnen..... Op vrijdag 4 juli jl. heeft de VN Mensenrechtenorganisatie (UNHR) gemeld dat er sinds de GHF voedsel uitdeelt 613 Palestijnen zijn vermoord, die ofwel stonden te wachten op voedsel, dan wel in de buurt waren van humanitaire konvooien. Intussen kan je alweer minstens 200 vermoorde Palestijnen optellen bij dat totaal van 613.....
En dan te bedenken dat de Palestijnenslachter en genocidepleger Netanyahu liep te slijmen bij Trump dat hij het Nobelcomité een brief heeft gestuurd om Trump de Nobelprijs voor de vrede toe te kennen.... ha! ha! ha! ha! Deze gevaarlijke corrupte moordenaar en psychopaat is dus ook nog eens ordinair knettergek!!!

verloor mijn stad tijdens de Maccabi Tel Aviv-rellen. Meer dan ooit
werd duidelijk dat mensen zoals ik op geen enkele bescherming of
steun kunnen rekenen.
Dagenlang hielden Maccabi Tel
Aviv-hooligans huis. Zongen mij en anderen ter dood bij wat ook mijn
monument op de Dam is. Mijn Nederlandse familie waren verzetshelden

z’n ‘integratiecrisis’. Partijen van rechts tot links dienden
de meest discriminatoire moties in, die klakkeloos werden aangenomen
en dus door ieder toekomstig kabinet kunnen worden uitgevoerd -

De
Maccabi Tel Aviv-rellen waren bewust door Israël uitgelokt. Wie het
vele beschikbare videomateriaal analyseert, ziet duidelijk hoe
leiders van de militante groepjes hooligans - d.w.z. (voormalige)
IDF-soldaten - hit en run-acties uitvoeren. Stokken en palen worden
uit de grond gerukt, waarna de knokploegen omstanders aanvallen. De
hooligans keerden zich daarnaast herhaaldelijk tegen de politie. De
politierapporten beweren echter dat er door de Maccabi Tel-Aviv
supporters goed werd ‘meegewerkt’.
Onze eigen Amsterdamse
jongeren werden binnen mum van tijd opgespoord en berecht. Maar de
politie staakt het onderzoek naar de Israëlische relschoppers. De
reden? De beelden van de GVB blijken al gewist.
De digitale
recherche is bij grote incidenten direct aanwezig om mogelijke
camerabeelden en digitale bewijslast veilig te stellen. Maat toen
niet? Online staan honderden beelden van meer dan haatzang bij de
metro. Er zijn genoeg getuigenverslagen. Bewijslast dat voor het
veroordelen van jonge Amsterdammers wél genoeg bleek.
Vandaag
word o.a. het onderzoek naar het functioneren van de
Politie
eenheid Amsterdam
gepresteerd.
Braaf deed de
NOS
verslag.
De Politie was goed voorbereid, maar had alleen geen rekening
gehouden met ‘de rol van sociale media’ en ‘de korte
geweldsuitbarstingen’ die plaatsvonden ‘door mannen op scooters,
fatbikes en in taxi’s’. Zo wordt reactionair geweld, bij het
uitblijven van bescherming door de politie, tot aanleiding gemaakt.

Veteran journalist Peter Oborne eviscerated the BBC this week over its shameful reporting of Gaza—and unusually, he managed to do so face-to-face with the BBC’s executive news editor, Richard Burgess, during a parliamentary meeting.
Oborne's remarks relate to a new and damning report by the Centre for Media Monitoring, which analysed in detail the BBC’s Gaza coverage in the year following Hamas’ one-day attack on 7 October 2023. The report found a “pattern of bias, double standards and silencing of Palestinian voices.” These aren’t editorial slip-ups. They reveal a systematic, long-term skewing of editorial coverage in Israel’s favour.
Oborne was one of several journalists to confront Burgess. His comments, filmed by someone at the meeting, can be watched below.
Oborne makes a series of important points that illustrate why the BBC’s slanted, Israel-friendly news agenda amounts to genocide denial, and means executives like Burgess are directly complicit in Israeli war crimes:
1. The BBC has never mentioned the Hannibal directive, invoked by Israel on 7 October 2023, that green-lit the murder of Israeli soldiers and civilians, often by Apache helicopter fire, to prevent them being taken captive by Hamas. The Israeli media has extensively reported on the role of the Hannibal directive in the Israeli military’s response on 7 October, but that coverage has been completely ignored by the BBC and most UK media outlets.
Israel’s invocation of the Hannibal directive—essential context for understanding what happened on 7 October—explains much of the destruction that day in Israel usually attributed to Hamas "barbarism", such as the graveyard of burnt-out, crumpled cars and the charred, crumbling remains of houses in communities near Gaza.
Hamas, with its light weapons, did not have the ability to inflict this kind of damage on Israel, and we know from Israeli witnesses, video footage and admissions from Israeli military officers that Israel was responsible for at least a share of the carnage that day. How much we will apparently never know because Israel is not willing to investigate itself, and media like the BBC are not doing any investigations themselves, or putting any pressure on Israel to do so.
2. The BBC has never mentioned Israel's Dahiya doctrine, the basis of its "mowing the lawn" approach to Gaza over the past two decades, in which the Israeli military has intermittently destroyed large swaths of the tiny enclave. The official aim has been to push the population, in the words of Israeli generals, back to the "Stone Age". The assumption is that, forced into survival mode, Palestinians will not have the energy or will to resist their brutal and illegal subjugation by Israel and that it will be easier for Israel to ethnically cleanse them from their homeland.
Because Israel has been implementing this military doctrine—a form of collective punishment and therefore indisputably a war crime—for at least 20 years, it is critically important in any analysis of the events that led up to 7 October, or of the genocidal campaign of destruction Israel launched subsequently.
The BBC’s refusal even to acknowledge the doctrine’s existence leaves audiences gravely misinformed about Israel’s historical abuses of Gaza, and deprived of context to interpret the campaign of destruction by Israel over the past 20 months.
3. The BBC has utterly failed to report the many dozens of genocidal statements from Israeli officials since 7 October—again vital context for audiences to understand Israel’s goals in Gaza.
Perhaps most egregiously, the BBC has not reported Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s biblically-inspired comparison of the Palestinians to “Amalek”—a people the Jews were instructed by God to wipe from the face of the earth. Netanyahu knew this clearly genocidal statement would have especial resonance with what now amounts to a majority of the combat soldiers in Gaza who belong to extreme religious communities that view the Bible as the literal truth.
The hardest thing to prove in genocide is intent. And yet the reason Israel’s violence in Gaza is so clearly genocidal is that every senior official from the prime minister down has repeatedly told us that genocide is their intent. The decision not to inform audiences of these public statements is not journalism. It is pro-Israel disinformation and genocide denial.
4. By contrast, as Oborne notes, on more than 100 occasions when guests have tried to refer to what is happening in Gaza as a genocide, BBC staff have immediately shut them down on air. As other investigations have shown, the BBC has strictly enforced a policy not only of banning the use of the term “genocide” by its own journalists in reference to Gaza but of depriving others—from Palestinians to western medical volunteers and international law experts—of the right to use the term as well. Again, this is pure genocide denial.
5. Oborne also points to the fact that the BBC has largely ignored Israel’s campaign of murdering Palestinian journalists in Gaza. A greater number have been killed by Israel in its war on the tiny enclave than the total number of journalists killed in all other major conflicts of the past 160 years combined.

The BBC has reported just 6 per cent of the more than 225 journalists killed by Israel in Gaza, compared to 62 per cent of the far smaller number of journalists killed in Ukraine. This is once again vital context for understanding that Israel’s goals are genocidal. It hopes to exterminate the main witnesses to its crimes.
6. Oborne adds a point of his own. He notes that the distinguished Israeli historian Avi Shlaim lives in the UK and teaches at Oxford University. Unlike the Israeli spokespeople familiar to BBC audiences, who are paid to muddy the waters and deny Israel’s genocide, Shlaim is both knowledgeable about the history of Israeli colonisation of Palestine and truly independent. He is in a position to dispassionately provide the context BBC audiences need to make judgments about what is going on and who is responsible for it.
And yet extraordinarily, Shlaim has never been invited on by the BBC. He is only too ready to do interviews. He has done them for Al Jazeera, for example. But he isn’t invited on because, it seems, he is “the wrong sort of Jew”. His research has led him to a series of highly critical conclusions about Israel’s historical and current treatment of the Palestinians. He calls what Israel is doing in Gaza a genocide. He is one of the prominent Israelis we are never allowed to hear from, because they are likely to make more credible and mainstream a narrative the BBC wishes to present as fringe, loopy and antisemitic. Again, what the BBC is doing—paid for by British taxpayers—isn’t journalism. It is propaganda for a foreign state.
Watch the video above to see how Burgess responds. His answer is a long-winded shrugging of the shoulders, a BBC executive’s way of acting clueless—an equivalent of Manuel, the dim-witted Spanish waiter in the classic comedy show Fawlty Towers, saying: “I know nothing.”
Other lowlights from Burgess include his responding to a pointed question from Declassified journalist Hamza Yusuf on why the BBC has not given attention to British spy planes operating over Gaza from RAF base Akrotiri on Cyprus. “I don’t think we should overplay the UK’s contribution to what’s happening in Israel,” Burgess answers.
So the British state broadcaster has decided that its duty is not to investigate the nature of British state assistance to Israel in Gaza, even though most experts agree what Israel is doing there amounts to genocide. Burgess thinks scrutiny of British state complicity would be “overplaying” British collusion, even though the BBC has not actually investigated the extent or nature of that collusion to have reached a conclusion. This is the very antithesis of what journalism is there to do: monitor the centres of power, not exonerate such power-centres before they have even been scrutinised.
Labour MP Andy McDonald responded to Burgess: “To underplay the role of the UK is an error.”
It is more than that. It is journalistic complicity in British and Israeli state war crimes.
Here are a few key statistical findings from the Centre for Media Monitoring’s report on BBC coverage of Gaza over the year following 7 October 2023:
The BBC ran more than 30 times more victim profiles of Israelis than Palestinians.
The BBC interviewed more than twice as many Israelis as Palestinians.
The BBC asked 38 of its guests to condemn Hamas. It asked no one to condemn Israel’s mass killing of civilians, or its attacks on hospitals and schools.
Only 0.5% of BBC articles mentioned Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine.
The BBC mentioned “occupation”—the essential context for understanding the relationship between Israel and Palestinians—only 14 times in news articles when providing context to the events of 7 October 2023. That amounted to 0.3% of articles. Additional context—decades of Israeli apartheid rule and Israel’s 17-year blockade of Gaza — were entirely missing from the coverage.
The BBC described Israeli captives as "hostages", while Palestinian detainees, including children held without charge, were called "prisoners". During one major hostage exchange in which 90 Palestinians were swapped for three Israelis, 70% of BBC articles focused on those three Israelis.
The BBC covered Ukraine with twice as many articles as Gaza in the time period, even though the Gaza story was newer and Israeli crimes even graver than Russia ones. The corporation was twice as likely to use sympathetic language for Ukrainian victims than it was for Palestinian victims.
In coverage, Palestinians were usually described as having “died” or been “killed” in air strikes, without mention of who launched those strikes. Israeli victims, on the other hand, were “massacred”, “slaughtered” and “butchered”—and the author of the violence was named, even though, as we have seen, the Hannibal directive clouded the picture in at least some of those cases.
As is only too evident watching Burgess respond, he is not there to learn from the state broadcaster’s glaring mistakes—because systematic BBC pro-Israel bias isn’t a mistake. It’s precisely what the BBC is there to do.

International stößt der israelische Militärschlag auf ein geteiltes Echo. Während US-Präsident Trump das Vorgehen Israels lobt, üben zahlreiche arabische Staaten harsche Kritik am Vorgehen Netanjahus. Die Bundesregierung solidarisiert sich dagegen mit Israel und erkennt dessen Recht auf Selbstverteidigung an, nachdem sich zuvor die Tonlage zwischen Berlin und Tel Aviv aufgrund des Vorgehens im Gazastreifen verschärft hatte.
Präventivschlag oder politisches Kalkül?
Die internationale Atomenergiebehörde IAEO in Wien hatte Ende Mai darüber informiert, dass der Iran inzwischen genug hoch angereichertes Uran besitze, um Atomwaffen herzustellen. Israels Premierminister Netanjahu rechtfertigt sein Vorgehen damit, jetzt sei der letzte Zeitpunkt gekommen, um Irans Atompläne zu stoppen. Stimmt das? Oder liegt es vielmehr daran, dass das Mullah-Regime inzwischen massiv geschwächt ist? Verändert sich das geopolitische Kräfteverhältnis zu Ungunsten des Iran? Und welche Rolle spielen die USA unter Donald Trump, der den Mullahs mit schwerwiegenden Konsequenzen gedroht hatte, wenn sie bei den Atomverhandlungen nicht einlenken würden?

Gaza’s Hospitals ARE The Target

It’s a relatively well-known fact that Israeli forces have attacked the overwhelming majority of hospitals in Gaza and have launched hundreds upon hundreds of strikes on medical services in the enclave.
Whenever anyone mentions this fact publicly they’ll get Israel apologists babbling about “human shields” and absurdly trying to claim that there are Hamas bases in all the hospitals. But these talking points are invalidated by the fact that we’ve seen multiple reports from doctors documenting Israeli forces actually entering hospitals they’ve attacked and destroying all the individual pieces of medical equipment in those facilities, one by one.
The latest of such reports appears in the Greek outlet Efimerida ton Syntakton from a specialist surgeon named Christos Georgalas, who was at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza from April to May of this year.

According to machine translation, Georgalas calls Israel’s onslaught “a war mainly against children,” and describes horrific injuries that Israeli munitions have been inflicting upon young Palestinians.
Georgalas also describes repeated Israeli attacks on the hospital where he was working, which include the following:
“A Spanish colleague told me that when the Israelis came to the hospital where the MRI machine was, they tried to destroy everything. But the MRI machine is a huge machine. It’s like a car. Even if you shoot it, it can be repaired. So they brought in a specialist engineer to permanently destroy it. Because even if a bomb went off next to it, it could still be repaired. They had to bring in a specialist who knew the heart of the machine to make it non-functional. And that’s exactly what he did last February.
“In our hospital, the Israelis went through the wards that were the incubators and systematically broke them one by one. The incubators with the crowbar! This has been recorded by my colleagues. The hospital where I worked was occupied by the Israelis for two months, in February and March 2024. The doctors who had remained in the hospital were tortured. They were lined up one by one and beaten. A total of around 80 of them were kidnapped. Of these, we do not know where 40 are or if they are alive. They killed many on the spot.”

Because Israel has been blocking journalists from entering the Gaza Strip, doctors have largely become the de facto reporters on the ground there.
We saw another report documenting Israel’s pattern of systematically destroying individual pieces of medical equipment back in February of this year, this time at the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza. Doctors Without Borders emergency coordinator Caroline Seguin reported the following:
“There is no health system anymore in the northern part of Gaza. Kamal Adwan hospital has been razed, while Al Shifa, Al Awda and Indonesian hospitals are seriously damaged and only partially functioning. We were utterly shocked to observe that in Indonesian hospital every medical machine seemed to have been deliberately destroyed; they were smashed to pieces, one by one, to make sure no medical care could be provided anymore. You have to ask: What is the motivation of such action? These machines are made to save people’s lives, mothers, fathers, children. It’s devastating to see the state of these hospitals.”
In April of this year Seguin’s report on the Indonesian Hospital was corroborated by an emergency physician named Clayton Dalton, who wrote the following for The New Yorker:
“Sultan led me upstairs, to the I.C.U., where wind blew through broken windows. He wanted to show me something that he had discovered after Israeli forces left the hospital. He pointed to a cardiac monitor near a wall. It appeared to have a bullet hole in its screen. Next to it was an EKG machine whose screen had been smashed.
“We entered a large storage room in the corner of the I.C.U. which was crammed with medical devices: ultrasound machines, I.V. pumps, dialysis machines, blood-pressure monitors. Each had apparently been destroyed by a bullet — not in a pattern one would expect from random shooting but, rather, methodically. I was stunned. I couldn’t think of any possible military justification for destroying lifesaving equipment.”
Indeed, there is no possible military justification for destroying lifesaving medical equipment. They were destroyed so that they could not be used to save lives. Israel has been systematically destroying Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure with the goal of making it uninhabitable, so that the territory can be seized by Israel.
That’s three separate accounts describing Israeli forces systematically destroying medical equipment in Gaza, from doctors who’d stand nothing to gain from lying about such a thing. The evidence is too overwhelming to deny.
There were no Hamas fighters hiding in the MRI machine. There were no tunnels in the incubators. No arms stockpiles in the EKG machine. Israel has been lying about Hamas hiding in hospitals this entire time. Hamas was never the target. Hospitals are the target. Healthcare is the target. That’s established far beyond any reasonable doubt by now.

This is the end. The final blood-soaked chapter of the genocide. It will be over soon. Weeks. At most. Two million people are camped out amongst the rubble or in the open air. Dozens are killed and wounded daily from Israeli shells, missiles, drones, bombs and bullets. They lack clean water, medicine and food. They have reached a point of collapse. Sick. Injured. Terrified. Humiliated. Abandoned. Destitute. Starving. Hopeless.
In the last pages of this horror story, Israel is sadistically baiting starving Palestinians with promises of food, luring them to the narrow and congested nine-mile ribbon of land that borders Egypt. Israel and its cynically named Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), allegedly funded by Israel’s Ministry of Defense and the Mossad, is weaponizing starvation. It is enticing Palestinians to southern Gaza the way the Nazis enticed starving Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto to board trains to the death camps. The goal is not to feed the Palestinians. No one seriously argues there is enough food or aid hubs. The goal is to cram Palestinians into heavily guarded compounds and deport them.
What comes next? I long ago stopped trying to predict the future. Fate has a way of surprising us. But there will be a final humanitarian explosion in Gaza’s human slaughterhouse. We see it with the surging crowds of Palestinians fighting to get a food parcel, which has resulted in Israeli and U.S. private contractors shooting dead at least 130 and wounding over seven hundred others in the first eight days of aid distribution. We see it with Benjamin Netanyahu’s arming ISIS-linked gangs in Gaza that loot food supplies. Israel, which has eliminated hundreds of employees with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), doctors, journalists, civil servants and police in targeted assassinations, has orchestrated the implosion of civil society.
I suspect Israel will facilitate a breach in the fence along the Egyptian border. Desperate Palestinians will stampede into the Egyptian Sinai. Maybe it will end some other way. But it will end soon. There is not much more Palestinians can take.
We — full participants in this genocide — will have achieved our demented goal of emptying Gaza and expanding Greater Israel. We will bring down the curtain on the live-streamed genocide. We will have mocked the ubiquitous university programs of Holocaust studies, designed, it turns out, not to equip us to end genocides, but deify Israel as an eternal victim licensed to carry out mass slaughter. The mantra of never again is a joke. The understanding that when we have the capacity to halt genocide and we do not, we are culpable, does not apply to us. Genocide is public policy. Endorsed and sustained by our two ruling parties.
There is nothing left to say. Maybe that is the point. To render us speechless. Who does not feel paralyzed? And maybe, that too, is the point. To paralyze us. Who is not traumatized? And maybe that too was planned. Nothing we do, it seems, can halt the killing. We feel defenseless. We feel helpless. Genocide as spectacle.
I have stopped looking at the images. The rows of little shrouded bodies. The decapitated men and women. Families burned alive in their tents. The children who have lost limbs or are paralyzed. The chalky death masks of those pulled from under the rubble. The wails of grief. The emaciated faces. I can’t.
This genocide will haunt us. It will echo down history with the force of a tsunami. It will divide us forever. There is no going back.
And how will we remember? By not remembering.
Once it is over, all those who supported it, all those who ignored it, all those who did nothing, will rewrite history, including their personal history. It was hard to find anyone who admitted to being a Nazi in post-war Germany, or a member of the Klu Klux Klan once segregation in the southern United States ended. A nation of innocents. Victims even. It will be the same. We like to think we would have saved Anne Frank. The truth is different. The truth is, crippled by fear, nearly all of us will only save ourselves, even at the expense of others. But that is a truth that is hard to face. That is the real lesson of the Holocaust. Better it be erased.
In his book “One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This,” Omar El Akkad writes:
Should a drone vaporize some nameless soul on the other side of the planet, who among us wants to make a fuss? What if it turns out they were a terrorist? What if the default accusation proves true, and we by implication be labeled terrorist sympathizers, ostracized, yelled at? It is generally the case that people are most zealously motivated by the worst plausible thing that could happen to them. For some, the worst plausible thing might be the ending of their bloodline in a missile strike. Their entire lives turned to rubble and all of it preemptively justified in the name of fighting terrorists who are terrorists by default on account of having been killed. For others, the worst plausible thing is being yelled at.

You cannot decimate a people, carry out saturation bombing over 20 months to obliterate their homes, villages and cities, massacre tens of thousands of innocent people, set up a siege to ensure mass starvation, drive them from land where they have lived for centuries and not expect blowback. The genocide will end. The response to the reign of state terror will begin. If you think it won’t you know nothing about human nature or history. The killing of two Israeli diplomats in Washington and the attack against supporters of Israel at a protest in Boulder, Colorado, are only the start.
Chaim Engel, who took part in the uprising at the Nazis’ Sobibor death camp in Poland, described how, armed with a knife, he attacked a guard in the camp.
“It’s not a decision,” Engel explained years later. “You just react, instinctively you react to that, and I figured, ‘Let us to do, and go and do it.’ And I went. I went with the man in the office and we killed this German. With every jab, I said, ‘That is for my father, for my mother, for all these people, all the Jews you killed.’”
Does anyone expect Palestinians to act differently? How are they to react when Europe and the United States, who hold themselves up as the vanguards of civilization, backed a genocide that butchered their parents, their children, their communities, occupied their land and blasted their cities and homes into rubble? How can they not hate those who did this to them?
What message has this genocide imparted not only to Palestinians, but to all in the Global South?
It is unequivocal. You do not matter. Humanitarian law does not apply to you. We do not care about your suffering, the murder of your children. You are vermin. You are worthless. You deserve to be killed, starved and dispossessed. You should be erased from the face of the earth.
“To preserve the values of the civilized world, it is necessary to set fire to a library,” El Akkad writes:
To blow up a mosque. To incinerate olive trees. To dress up in the lingerie of women who fled and then take pictures. To level universities. To loot jewelry, art, food. Banks. To arrest children for picking vegetables. To shoot children for throwing stones. To parade the captured in their underwear. To break a man’s teeth and shove a toilet brush in his mouth. To let combat dogs loose on a man with Down syndrome and then leave him to die. Otherwise, the uncivilized world might win.
There are people I have known for years who I will never speak to again. They know what is happening. Who does not know? They will not risk alienating their colleagues, being smeared as an antisemite, jeopardizing their status, being reprimanded or losing their jobs. They do not risk death, the way Palestinians do. They risk tarnishing the pathetic monuments of status and wealth they spent their lives constructing. Idols. They bow down before these idols. They worship these idols. They are enslaved by them.
At the feet of these idols lie tens of thousands of murdered Palestinians.

liefst 48 procent van de Nederlandse bevolking is het eens met de
stelling ‘dat Israël in Gaza genocide heeft gepleegd’. Slechts
12 procent is het daar niet mee eens. Dat is een van de uitkomsten
van een opiniepeiling van
Motivaction in opdracht van PAX, Oxfam Novib, Amnesty International,
Save the Children, SOMO en The Rights Forum. Gisteren werden de
uitkomsten gepresenteerd.
Beleid
breed veroordeeld
Niet
alleen het Gaza-beleid wordt door de Nederlandse bevolking op grote
schaal afgewezen, blijkt uit de peiling. Een meerderheid van de
Nederlanders is bijvoorbeeld voorstander van een verbod op
handel met de illegale Israëlische nederzettingen in bezet
Palestijns gebied. De Nederlandse regering wil daar niets van weten.
Ook is een groot deel van de Nederlanders voor het volledig
stopzetten van militaire samenwerking met Israël.
Conclusie
De
uitkomsten van de nieuwe peiling bevestigen het beeld
van eerdere peilingen
dat het pro-Israëlbeleid van de regering in
al zijn facetten door
een grote meerderheid wordt afgewezen. ‘Steun voor het Nederlandse
Israël-beleid ontbreekt structureel’, concludeert
Motivaction.
Ook
binnen de traditionele pro-Israëlpartijen VVD, PVV en CDA staat
slechts een (kleine) minderheid nog achter het regeringsbeleid, bleek
uit de op 21 april gepresenteerde uitkomsten van
een Ipsos-peiling.
Protest
noodzaak
De
uitkomsten van beide peilingen dwingen de regering tot een radicaal
ander beleid. Maar het lijkt er niet op dat het kabinet-Schoof zich
iets zal aantrekken van de publieke opinie. Om die reden blijven wij
oproepen tot verzet tegen het regeringsbeleid. Bekijk

Humanitaire hulp dient gewelddadige belangen
Humanitaire hulp is een van de meest prominente en schandelijke middelen geworden waarmee internationale instellingen de gevolgen van militaire agressie proberen te verzachten. Israëls vermeende hulpconcept heeft het duidelijk niet beter gedaan. Nogmaals, Israëls aanduiding van de Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) kan worden samengevat als: verhongeren en vermoord worden, of verhongeren, ontheemd raken en mogelijk vermoord worden.
Tijdens de top van de Arabische Liga verklaarde secretaris-generaal Antonio Guterres dat de VN "niet zal deelnemen aan een zogenaamde hulpoperatie die niet in overeenstemming is met het internationaal recht en de humanitaire beginselen van menselijkheid, onpartijdigheid, onafhankelijkheid en neutraliteit." Guterres verwees hiermee naar de uitbreiding van de genocide door Israël – militaire operaties in de VN-retoriek – en die direct verband houdt met de rol van de Arabische Liga bij het verstrekken van beperkte humanitaire hulp.
De GHF staat onder toezicht vanuit Zwitserland, nadat de Zwitserse NGO TRIAL International twee stukken heeft ingediend om de naleving van de Zwitserse en internationale wetgeving door het particuliere bureau te onderzoeken.
Philip Grant, directeur van TRIAL International, verklaarde : "Het geplande gebruik van particuliere beveiligingsbedrijven leidt tot een riskante militarisering van de hulp, wat niet gerechtvaardigd is in een context waarin de Verenigde Naties en humanitaire NGO's de onpartijdigheid, middelen en expertise hebben die nodig zijn om deze hulp zonder vertraging onder de burgerbevolking te verdelen", aldus Philip Grant, directeur van TRIAL International.
Het ontslag van GHF-directeur Jake Woods zou om soortgelijke redenen hebben plaatsgevonden. "Het is duidelijk dat het niet mogelijk is dit plan uit te voeren en tegelijkertijd strikt vast te houden aan de humanitaire principes van menselijkheid, neutraliteit, onpartijdigheid en onafhankelijkheid, die ik niet zal opgeven", legde Woods uit.
OPINIE: Netanyahu speelt opnieuw de slachtofferkaart
Berichten in Ha'aretz onthulden een duisterder web van particuliere aannemers dat meer spreekt over militaire veteranen, zakenmensen en voormalige CIA-functionarissen dan over de daadwerkelijke zorgen over humanitaire hulp. Bovendien wordt de rol van Israël benadrukt als een actieve deelnemer aan het proces. Volgens de Israëlische ambassadeur in de VS, Yechiel Leiter, "hebben we samen met de VS – voornamelijk de VS – een bedrijf opgericht dat bestaat uit voormalige Groene Baretten die met USAID hebben samengewerkt en wereldwijd humanitaire hulp hebben verspreid, meest recent in Haïti." Een woordvoerder van GHF verklaarde dat het agentschap "een onafhankelijke stichting" is, maar het Ha'aretz -rapport stelt dat GHF geld zou inzamelen voor het logistieke bedrijf Safe Reach Solutions, dat samen met het particuliere beveiligingsbedrijf UG Solutions de hulp in Gaza levert .
Het vernietigen van het VN-hulpverleningsagentschap voor Palestijnse Vluchtelingen (UNRWA) verergerde de humanitaire ontberingen alleen maar. Tegelijkertijd, wat had de internationale gemeenschap werkelijk met UNRWA voor ogen, bij gebrek aan een politieke oplossing die gebaseerd zou zijn op dekolonisatie? Het humanitaire paradigma was altijd al zwak, en voor iedereen die betrokken was bij schendingen van het internationaal recht,bleek die zwakte een kracht voor grotere macht. Niet alleen voor Israël, maar ook voor zijn internationale handlangers, waaronder de VN.
We hebben uitgehongerde Palestijnen gezien, Palestijnen die werden gedood terwijl ze wachtten op hulp, en de meer alledaagse en pittoreske, maar dan op een macabere manier – foto's van Palestijnen die wachten tot hun schamele portie eten wordt geserveerd. Dit kan niet alleen worden toegeschreven aan de GHF – zoals bij alle andere Israëlische schendingen zijn er precedenten. En het precedent in dit geval komt voort uit het internationale humanitaire paradigma dat de Palestijnen al sinds het begin in de steek heeft gelaten. Humanitaire hulp zou tijdelijk moeten zijn, maar de internationale gemeenschap heeft Palestijnen gedwongen tot een permanente vluchtelingenstatus en, als gevolg daarvan, tot permanente ontvangers van een mislukt humanitair plan.
Tussen UNRWA en particuliere contractanten die zich voordoen als humanitaire organisaties, staat humanitaire hulp nog steeds alleen ten dienste van de ontwerpers en niet van het Palestijnse volk.

Vandaag publiceerde Follow the Money het artikel "Nederlandse universiteiten doen gezamenlijk onderzoek met defensie-industrie van Israël" van Fernande van Tets, Leonie C. en Zuza N. (The Investigative Desk).
Dit is
belangrijk. Het staat er niet zo expliciet, maar de enige conclusie
die je uit dit artikel kunt trekken is de volgende: Nederlandse
universiteiten werken, met subsidie van de European
Union (dus: op kosten van de
belastingbetaler), samen met Israëlische academische instellingen
aan de ontwikkeling van technologieën die naar alle
waarschijnlijkheid worden ingezet in de gen o cide op de Palestijnen.
Het zoveelste voorbeeld van een situatie waarin
nietsvermoedende Nederlandse burgers medeplichtig worden gemaakt aan
mensenrechtenschendingen.
Dit is wat mij betreft het
belangrijkste argument vóór het verbreken van alle institutionele
banden met Israëlische universiteiten en hogescholen. Zoals Maya
Wind beschrijft in haar boek 'Towers of Ivory and Steel' zijn alle
Israëlische universiteiten betrokken bij het systeem van
gewelddadige onderdrukking als gevolg van de Israëlische bezetting
van de Palestijnse gebieden.
Het argument, ook vandaag weer
uitgeserveerd in NRC
in een opiniestukje van Vrije
Universiteit Amsterdam-hoogleraar Mirjam
van Praag, dat Nederland Israëlische universiteiten absoluut niet
moet boycotten omdat het zulke fijne plekken zijn van progressieve
dialoog, gaat gewoon niet op. Het verbreken van institutionele banden
laat individuele samenwerkingen namelijk nog gewoon toe. En dat
Israëlische universiteiten zo ruimhartig zijn om ook Palestijnse
studenten en onderzoekers ook een kans te bieden? Het is pure
emotionele chantage: het toont aan dat hun deelname aan het
Israëlische onderwijs kennelijk volledig voorwaardelijk is. Het is
bovendien een potsierlijk argument: enkele tientallen kilometers ten
zuiden van die o zo liberale Tel Aviv University worden Palestijnen
dood gebombardeerd en uitgehongerd.
Het is overigens
belangrijk op te merken dat Mirjam van Praag niet uitsluitend staat
voor de academische vrijheid. Haar rol als lobbyist voor Israël kan
niet onopgemerkt blijven. In een interview in het Nieuw Israëlitisch
Weekblad van september '23 (voor 7 oktober 2023, ja) valt ze The
Rights Forum aan vanwege zijn #Woo-verzoek naar de banden tussen Nederlandse en Israëlische universiteiten door het als een daad van Jodenhaat te framen: "Dat was heel naar."
Een hoogleraar die onderzoek, dat leidt tot zulke belangrijke bevindingen als Follow The Money vandaag blootlegt, wil dwarsbomen om de belangen van een buitenlandse mogendheid te beschermen? Je zou kunnen zeggen dat die eerder een gevaar dan een asset is voor de Nederlandse academische vrijheid.

Wat betreft Jemen, het enige land dat zich vanwege de genocide op de Palestijnen militair verzet tegen Israël door schepen aan te vallen met als bestemming Israël, dan wel schepen van landen die Israël blijven steunenn , zie onder andere: 'Nederlandse reders, niet zelden belastingontduikers, eisen marine bescherming in de Rode Zee.....' Echter toen Biden MBS bezocht om tevergeefs te bedelen voor een verlaging van de olieprijs, gaf hij hem een een vriendschappelijke vuist alsof het zijn beste vriend was.....:
