De gang naar fascisme is wat betreft de westerse wereld bijna 'wereldwijd', terwijl buiten de westerse wereld Latijns-Amerika steeds verder naar (extreem-) rechts opschuift (zelfs in Brazilië met de linkse president Lula heeft rechts veel macht), verder kan je Modi, de premier van India, aanduiden als fascist, gezien zijn racistisch-nationalistische regering. Prabowo, de president van het land met de meeste moslims >> Indonesië, is zonder meer een fascist. Ook in Afrika rukt het fascisme op, de meeste landen in het noorden van dat continent hebben al decennialang rechtse dictators, die je als fascistisch kan wegzetten. Gunstige uitzonderingen in Afrika zijn de NB militair geregeerde landen Burkina Faso (met de geweldige leider >> Ibrahim Traoré), Mali en Niger*.
In Burkina Faso, Mali en Niger grepen militairen de macht om een eind te maken aan het westerse kolonialisme dat hun landen nog steeds teisterde >> het leegstelen van de genoemde landen van hun grondstoffen door bijvoorbeeld Frankrijk, waarbij Frankrijk in meerdere landen eigen militairen had gestationeerd, die na de machtsovername 'vriendelijk werden verzocht' het land te verlaten.
Wat betreft Latijns-Amerika moeten we niet vergeten dat de VS denkt daar de dienst uit te kunnen maken, nu onder Trump nog duidelijker zichtbaar dan in decennia eerder.... Ofwel de landen die nog een enigszins linkse regering hebben moeten vrezen dat ook aan hun leiding een eind zal komen, zoals in Venezuela, waar de huidige regering van interim president Delcy Rodríguez in feite is gecapituleerd voor de terreur van de VS en de oliemaatschappijen (zelf terreurorganisaties) uit dat land weer toegang kregen tot de Venezolaanse olievelden. (volidioot Trump beweert zelfs dat deze olievelden van de VS zijn....) Rodríguez is de vervanger van de door Trumps terreurtroepen op ongehoord schunnige manier afgezette en ontvoerde president Nicolás Maduro en zijn vrouw Cilia Flores.... De laatste is een vrouw die als haar man veel heeft gedaan voor de arme Venezolaanse bevolking en is een belangrijk lid van de grootste politieke partij in Venezuela >> Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela >> PSUV (Verenigde Socialistische Partij van Venezuela) Op de volgende foto van Flores is te zien dat zij is gemarteld door de laffe fascisten in de VS...... (geen reactie van westerse leiders op deze schunnige manier van doen):
De VS heeft nog steeds een deel van haar marine in de buurt van Venezuela en Trump heeft Rodríguez gedreigd te doen wat hij zegt daar haar anders hetzelfde lot wacht als Maduro en Flores.... Uiteraard is deze hele smerige illegale oorlog tegen Venezuela een waarschuwing voor andere landen in Latijns-Amerika (en de landen in Zuid-Amerika die daar niet toe behoren, zoals Suriname) zich te houden aan de fascistische dictaten van oorlogsmisdadiger, mede-genocidepleger, fraudeur, belastingontduiker en pedofiel Trump....
Wat betreft de VS >> er kan geen twijfel bestaan dat dit land fascistisch wordt bestuurd, waar Trump alle internationale wet- en regelgeving aan de vieze laarzen heeft gelapt en doet wat hij wil, neem alleen al de smerige illegale oorlog tegen Iran, die afgelopen maandag (9 maart 2026) volgens de BBC al aan meer dan 1.300 mensen het leven heeft gekost, ofwel die zijn vermoord door de VS en Israël, waarbij de VS zelfs een school voor meisjes heeft aangevallen waarbij meer dan 170 mensen werden vermoord, hoofdzakelijk meisjes van 7 tot 12 jaar.... De VS komt nu met diverse excuses, zo zou de school onderdeel zijn geweest van een legerpost, echter dat is jaren geleden en uit satellietbeelden van de VS van een aantal jaren geleden bleek al dat het hier om een basisschool voor meisjes gaat.... Hier een LinkedIn bericht dat ik over deze massamoord aantrof en waarin Scott Ritter aangeeft dat de VS de smerige tactiek heeft gebuikt om eerst de school te bombarderen en daarna toen hulpverleners en ouders te hulp waren geschoten de school nogmaals te bombarderen met een thermische bom, daarmee werden de overlevende meisjes en de te hulp geschoten ouders en hulpverleners vermoord (waaruit nog eens blijkt hoe vals het excuus is van de grootste terreurentiteit ter wereld >> de VS....):
Uiteraard kan de genocidale apartheidsstaat Israël niet vergeten worden, wat dit land flikt in eigen land, NB een bijna volledig openlijk uitgevoerde genocide en dat al bijna 2,5 jaar lang, is met geen 10 pennen te beschrijven.... Tel daar de vreselijke verkrachtingen, andere martelingen en executies in gevangenissen (die zijn te vergelijken met concentratiekampen) bij op en je kan niet anders dan concluderen dat Israël een zwaar fascistische staat is. Een fascistische staat die alleen het afgelopen jaar al 5 landen heeft aangevallen en vorige week de illegale oorlog tegen Iran is begonnen, daarnaast bombardeert deze fascistisch staat Libanon. Volgens Save the Children hebben Israël en de VS sinds de eerste bombardementen van hun illegale oorlog bijna 300 kinderen vermoord, ofwel in een 'normaal land' 10 klassen vol kinderen.... Daarnaast zijn rond de 800 kinderen (ook zwaar) gewond geraakt door deze walgelijke fascistische terreur.... Vergeet bij dit alles niet dat Israël een enorme gebiedsuitbreiding nastreeft, zo heeft het in het zuiden van Libanon gebieden illegaal bezet en daarbij vermeld dat dit wordt gezien als een bufferzone, ofwel dat gebied zal illegaal bezet blijven door Israël.... (met stilzwijgende toestemming van het westen.....)
Ook in de rest van het westen is het fascisme niet meer te stoppen, zo liet de Duitse bondskanselier Merz tijdens een conferentie van zijn partij, het CDU, bijna schreeuwend weten dat zijn partij een 'Màgga Partei' is (geschreven zoals hij het bijna schreeuwend verwoorde), waarschijnlijk weet hij niet eens hoe je het moet schrijven.... Opvallend dat men dit niet in politiek-satirische programma's nog eens liet horen, hoewel men daar zware kritiek heeft op Trump (met zijn MAGA pet op de psychopathische kop)..... Eerder liet Merz al weten een 'racist' te zijn met zijn uitspraak over het straatbeeld in Duitsland. Ook zijn oorlogszucht en die van zijn minister van 'defensie' (lees: 'oorlog') zijn van fascistische leest, zo hebben ze laten weten dat Duitsland het grootste leger van Europa moet krijgen, eens de wens van Hitler, die dat dan ook voor elkaar kreeg na 1933... Merz had eerder ook commentaar op de Duitse werknemers, die zouden lui zijn.... Ze moeten langer werken aldus Merz en hij wil de pensioenleeftijd ophogen naar 72 jaar...... Tja Merz, hoe was het ook alweer op de toegangspoorten van concentratiekampen in de nazi-tijd? Oh ja: 'ARBEIT MACHT FREI....'
In Nederland hebben we een rechts kabinet dat gezien een aantal zaken als vluchtelingen een fascistisch beleid voert en al even oorlogszuchtig is als Duitsland en andere NAVO-lidstaten, dit onder leiding van aartsleugenaar Rutte, SG van de NAVO, die het voor elkaar heeft dat deze staten binnen een aantal jaren 5% van het bruto binnenlands product (bbp) gaan besteden aan oorlogsvoering. (ongelofelijk ook dat meerdere NAVO-lidstaten meedoen aan de illegale VS-Israëlische oorlog tegen Iran, wat betreft Nederland met een fregat dat inkomende raketten en drones uit Iran moet tegenhouden als die zijn afgeschoten op Cyprus waar de Britten een luchtmachtbasis hebben, waarvandaan spionagevluchten voor Israël worden uitgevoerd......)
Rutte liegt ook hier weer dat het gedrukt staat met zijn praatjes dat die verhoging voor uitgaven van 5% nodig is daar we anders zullen worden overlopen door Rusland, terwijl het Russische leger niet kan tippen aan dat van de NAVO, de terreurorganisatie die niet alleen deze eeuw heeft meegeholpen aan meerdere illegale oorlogen van de VS, die aan meer dan 5 miljoen mensen het leven hebben gekost (ofwel die zijn vermoord), maar de afgelopen 15 jaar ook de ene na de andere oefening heeft gehouden, oefeningen ook op het binnenvallen van Russisch grondgebied.... Het is dan ook duidelijk dat de NAVO een oorlog wil beginnen tegen Rusland, daarvoor moet ook de infrastructuur in de NAVO-lidstaten worden gerenoveerd >> om troepen, tanks en ander oorlogstuig te vervoeren en te leiden naar wat eerder het Oostfront van de nazi's was..... En daarvoor wordt 1,5% van de genoemde 5% uitgegeven aan renovatie van de infrastructuur, de rest is voor oorlogstuig waarmee vooral aanvallen kunnen worden uitgevoerd..... Over oefeningen gesproken >> wat moeten Nederlandse militairen in Israël?** Oefenen op het onder de duim houden van minderheden? Hoe een genocide uit te voeren? Hoe gevangenen te martelen en te verkrachten? Hoe mensen behorend tot minderheden te beledigen, vernederen en desnoods te executeren op straat?
De afgelopen jaren zijn er een aantal berichten naar buiten gekomen waarin militairen en politiepersoneel in westerse landen als Duitsland worden beschuldigd van 'extreem-rechtse sympathieën' anders gezegd dat zijn fascisten, ook in Nederland is dit een paar keer gebeurd en reken gerust dat dit het spreekwoordelijke topje is van de ijsberg..... Overigens niet vreemd als je bedenkt dat een groeiend aantal Nederlanders en burgers van andere westerse landen het liefst de 'democratie' gesloopt zouden willen zien ten behoeve van 'een sterke man....'
Met alle censuur en andere maatregelen die in de EU worden genomen tegen de vrije meningsuiting en men zelfs het demonstreren moeilijk, zo niet onmogelijk wil maken, gaan we rechtstreeks richting een fascistische dictatuur.... Daarvoor heeft de EU onder andere de Digital Service Act (DSA) in werking gesteld, zogenaamd tegen 'de grote techbedrijven', terwijl men met deze wet iedereen kan aanpakken die niet het gewenste narratief volgt, zowel journalisten als alle andere EU-burgers, die zich niet laten ringeloren door de EU, noch door hun eigen EU-lidstaat.... Neem ook het invoeren van een digitale ID (dig. ID EU), dat samen met een digitale euro (CBDC) wordt opgenomen in een 'EDI-wallet' en waarmee men bij controle meteen ziet of iemand wel of niet is gevaccineerd en of deze zich verzet tegen EU-maatregelen en wetgeving..... Met deze 'wallet' wordt het nog makkelijker om iemand te depersonaliseren die zich verzet tegen de geldende status quo >> wat betekent dat je bankrekening(en) wordt geblokkeerd, je niet meer kan reizen en je zelfs uit je zorgverzekering kan worden gemikt... De EU-lidstaat met de strengste regels, bijvoorbeeld tegen het belachelijk maken van politici of zware kritiek leveren op deze figuren, kan elke bewoner van de EU laten vervolgen die haar regels overtreedt.... (dus ook als je in je eigen land dergelijke zaken wel mag zeggen of schrijven.....)
De maatregelen tijdens de C*ron*hysterie waren in feite één grote oefening voor het invoeren van een (fascistische) dictatuur en het onder de duim houden van de bevolking.... Tijdens die oefening ging ons leger haar boekje ver te buiten middels het LIMC, een onderdeel dat de Nederlandse burgers niet alleen digitaal in de gaten hield, maar ook illegaal data van burgers verzamelde..... Bijleveld, destijds CDA minister van Defensie, maakte daar veel te laat een eind aan.... Dit onderdeel bestaat nog steeds en 'god mag bij wijze van spreken weten' wat dit anti-democratische legeronderdeel nu uitvoert.....
Groot Brittannië mag uiteraard niet ontbreken, dit land is NB onder de 'sociaal democratische' premier Starmer verandert in een fascistische staat. Als in Frankrijk en Duitsland worden ongehoorzame journalisten gedepersonaliseerd en werden zelfs mensen van boven de 80 uitgemaakt voor antisemiet en terrorist en zelfs gevangengezet daar ze vredelievend demonstreerden tegen de genocide die Israël uitvoert op de Palestijnen.... Voorts spraken ze zich uit voor Palestine Action (PA), een mensenrechtenorganisatie die zich inzet tegen die genocide en waarvan een enkele leden rode verf tegen een paar staaljagers hebben gegooid, daar de Britse luchtmacht spionagevluchten uitvoert boven de Gazastrook (en nu waarschijnlijk ook boven Iran) voor de genocidale staat Israël. PA is daarom door de regering Starmer weggezet als terreurorganisatie.... Censuur is ook daar een gewone zaak geworden, terwijl dit thuishoort in een dictatuur!! Kritiek op Israël wordt daar als in Duitsland en Frankrijk weggezet als antisemitisme....
De reguliere westerse media hebben amper commentaar op fascistische maatregelen, het woord 'fascisme' gebruikt men het liefst helemaal niet, ondanks alle ellende die het fascisme in het verleden heeft gebracht.... Nee, het liefst kraakt men in die media de nadenkende medemens die zich op de sociale media uit over westers fascisme, af als dom, of als Kremlin-trol dan wel als complotdenker en eist daar niet zelden bij dat die media worden gecensureerd.... Waarbij men liegt dat er geweld wordt gepromoot op de sociale media, terwijl dat zonder meer strafbaar was en is.... Om maar te zwijgen over het brengen van fake nieuws en desinformatie door de reguliere westerse media, neem alleen al de berichtgeving over de illegale oorlogen die de VS deze eeuw is begonnen, ook nu verdedigt men de VS en Israël die illegaal een oorlog tegen Iran zijn begonnen en zaait men haat tegen Iran...,. Het nazi-monster Goebbels, destijds onder het Duitse nazi-bewind de minister van propaganda, zou trots zijn geweest.....
Kwam gistermorgen (12 maart 2026) nog een LinkedIn bericht tegen, wat aangeeft dat het EU-parlement, onder leiding van 'would-be' keizerin von der Leyen, heeft besloten dat EU-lidstaten nu vluchtelingen inclusief eventuele kinderen kunnen afschuiven naar 'terugkeercentra' (ook aangeduid als 'terugkeerhubs'), niets anders dan gevangenissen in landen buiten de EU..... Gevangenissen waar mensen kunnen worden vastgehouden zolang het een dergelijk land belieft. Vorig jaar heeft hare kwaadaardigheid von der Leyen overeenkomsten gesloten met autocratisch geregeerde landen in Noord-Afrika voor de opvang van vluchtelingen in dergelijke gevangenissen, die zoals snel zal blijken niets anders zijn dan concentratiekampen.... Ook kunnen EU-lidstaten besluiten deze mensen zelf op te sluiten, al lijkt me die kans erg klein, immers iemand in gevangenschap houden is duur... De vluchtelingen lopen een grote kans dat de leiding van dergelijke concentratiekampen contact zullen opnemen met de familie van deze vluchtelingen en geld van hen zullen eisen voor vrijlating, als dat geld niet komt is het gevaar groot dat deze vluchtelingen worden vermoord. Brussels' Censorship Regime
How Unelected EU Officials Built a Transnational Speech Police

On December 5, 2025, the European Commission imposed a €120 million fine on X, formerly Twitter — its first enforcement action under the Digital Services Act.¹ The stated violations had nothing to do with incitement, fraud, or child exploitation. The Commission objected to the design of X’s blue checkmark, the layout of its advertising repository, and its data-sharing arrangements with academic researchers.² In the bureaucratic vocabulary of Brussels, these constituted breaches of “transparency obligations.” In plainer language, the world’s most powerful unelected regulatory body had just demonstrated that it could extract nine-figure penalties from an American company for interface design choices that no European citizen was ever asked to vote on.
The fine, for all its size, was a warning shot. The DSA authorizes penalties of up to six percent of a company’s global annual turnover — a figure that, for the largest American platforms, runs into tens of billions of dollars.³ Ten of the nineteen platforms Brussels has designated as “Very Large Online Platforms” subject to the law’s most invasive requirements are American companies, including Amazon, Meta’s family of apps, Google, and Wikipedia.⁴ The architecture is unmistakable: a European regulatory apparatus with global jurisdiction over American-built infrastructure, enforced by officials whom no European voter directly elects, and backed by financial penalties severe enough to function as existential threats. The Commission insists the DSA is a “transparency” law. The machinery it has assembled tells a different story.
The Anatomy of a Censorship Regime
The Digital Services Act, which became fully applicable in February 2024, operates through a structure of cascading obligations that grow more coercive at each level. At its foundation lies a definition of “illegal content” so expansive that it functions as an invitation to suppress speech at will. Article 3(h) defines illegal content as anything that is “not in compliance with Union law or the law of any member state” — a formulation that means the most restrictive speech law in any of the EU’s twenty-seven member states can become the effective continent-wide standard.⁵ Germany’s NetzDG hate speech provisions, France’s memory laws criminalizing certain historical interpretations, Poland’s blasphemy statutes — any of these can furnish grounds for content removal across the entire bloc.
Above this baseline, the DSA erects an apparatus of “trusted flaggers” — government-approved entities, including NGOs and law enforcement agencies such as Europol, deputized to flag content for priority removal by platforms.⁵ Their notifications must be processed “without undue delay.” The platforms must then report to EU regulators what action they took in response. The incentive structure is not subtle: process the flags quickly and remove the content, or face questions from Brussels about why you failed to act.
For the largest platforms, the obligations escalate further. Articles 34 and 35 impose a duty to “assess and mitigate systemic risks,” a category that includes threats to “civic discourse,” “electoral processes,” and “public security.”⁶ The language is so broad that virtually any political speech disfavored by the Commission could qualify as a systemic risk requiring mitigation. The Center for Strategic and International Studies — hardly an institution of the populist fringe — has acknowledged that the DSA’s architecture creates structural incentives for platforms to remove more speech than the law technically requires, simply to reduce regulatory exposure.⁶ The Chicago Journal of International Law has warned that these incentives will fall heaviest on “political speech, criticism of political figures, parody, and pro-LGBTQ+ speech.”⁷
There is no meaningful check on this power. Appeals from Commission enforcement decisions must travel through the Court of Justice of the European Union, a process that takes one to two years and costs sums that only the largest corporations can afford. National courts cannot overrule the Commission’s interpretations.⁴ The entire edifice — the definitions, the trusted flaggers, the systemic risk obligations, the enforcement mechanism — was enacted by the European Parliament and Council, then placed in the hands of a Commission whose president is proposed by the European Council and confirmed by Parliament. No citizen of any EU member state cast a direct ballot for Ursula von der Leyen or any of the officials who now wield this apparatus.
From Theory to Practice
If the DSA’s architecture were merely theoretical, its critics could be accused of speculation. Subpoenaed documents obtained by the U.S. House Judiciary Committee have now closed that gap between design and deployment.
In July 2025, the Committee’s Republican majority published an interim staff report titled “The Foreign Censorship Threat,” based on nonpublic documents obtained under subpoena from major American technology companies.⁸ The documents include email communications between Commission staff and platform executives, and internal materials from a closed-door “DSA Workshop” the Commission hosted with platforms in May 2025. At that workshop, Commission regulators presented a hypothetical social media post — “we need to take back our country,” a phrase so common in democratic politics that it could have appeared in any campaign in any Western nation — and labeled it “illegal hate speech” that platforms are obligated to censor under the DSA.⁸
The Committee’s findings go further. Commission regulators explicitly told platforms at the workshop that “continuous review of global community guidelines” was a best practice for DSA compliance — a directive that, because major platforms generally maintain a single set of content moderation policies worldwide, means that speech restrictions demanded by Brussels are imposed on users in the United States, Brazil, Japan, and everywhere else.⁸ The Committee concluded that the Commission’s censorship efforts have been overwhelmingly one-sided, targeting political conservatives — a characterization the Committee offered as a documented finding, supported by the subpoenaed materials.⁸
The Commission’s reach extended deep into the electoral politics of its own member states. Internal TikTok documents submitted to the Committee revealed that the Commission pressured platforms to increase content takedowns ahead of elections in Slovakia, the Netherlands, France, Moldova, Romania, and Ireland, as well as the 2024 European Parliament elections.⁹ TikTok’s own staff expressed concern in internal communications about what they called the Commission’s “very informal approach” to Romanian election authorities, and warned about “unjustified removal of legal content (such as political speech).”⁹
Former EU Commissioner Thierry Breton established the tone before the DSA’s enforcement apparatus was even fully operational. In 2023, he publicly declared, “I am the enforcer,” and threatened to ban platforms from operating in the EU entirely if they failed to remove content he deemed illegal.¹⁰ Breton’s letter to Elon Musk in August 2024, warning that “spillovers” of American speech into the EU during a U.S. presidential campaign could trigger “interim measures” against X, was regarded as so nakedly political that it contributed to his departure from the Commission under pressure from von der Leyen herself.⁸ The episode revealed not a system of neutral regulation but a political apparatus in which individual commissioners claimed personal authority to determine the boundaries of permissible speech across an entire continent.
Romania: Election Theft in Bureaucratic Dress
The most dramatic deployment of this apparatus came in Romania, where the interaction between the DSA, intelligence claims, and judicial intervention produced what may be the first annulment of a democratic election in EU history carried out under the banner of “platform regulation.”
The sequence is worth reconstructing precisely. On November 24, 2024, Călin Georgescu — an independent populist candidate running on a nationalist, anti-establishment platform — won the first round of Romania’s presidential election with twenty-three percent of the vote, having polled in single digits weeks earlier.¹¹ The result stunned Romania’s dominant political parties and alarmed Brussels. On December 4, outgoing President Klaus Iohannis declassified intelligence documents from Romania’s intelligence service, the SRI, alleging that Russia had orchestrated a covert TikTok campaign using 25,000 coordinated accounts to boost Georgescu’s candidacy.¹¹ Two days later, on December 6 — forty-eight hours before the scheduled runoff — Romania’s Constitutional Court unanimously annulled the election.¹¹
The European Commission immediately opened a DSA investigation into TikTok, framing the annulment as vindication of the Act’s purpose.¹²
Then the official story began to unravel. Internal TikTok documents submitted to the U.S. House Judiciary Committee state that TikTok “did not find, nor been presented with, any evidence of a coordinated network of 25,000 accounts associated with Mr. Georgescu’s campaign.”⁹ By late December 2024, Romanian media — citing the national tax authority, ANAF — reported that the alleged TikTok campaign had actually been funded by another Romanian political party, not by Russia.¹¹ TikTok’s own internal communications expressed alarm at the Commission’s handling of the situation, warning about the platform being pressured into the “unjustified removal of legal content.”⁹
None of this mattered. The election was never reinstated. Georgescu was barred from running in the re-do election in March 2025.¹¹ In May 2025, the pro-EU candidate Nicușor Dan won the rescheduled contest.⁹ The Commission’s investigation into TikTok, meanwhile, has still not concluded — more than a year after the election it helped annul. Romanian MEPs have called the pace “unacceptably slow.”¹² The investigation’s function, by this point, is clear enough: it provided procedural cover for the annulment when the annulment was politically useful. Its completion is no longer necessary.
A democratic election in an EU member state was overturned on the basis of intelligence claims that the platform at the center of the allegations says it cannot substantiate, and that the country’s own tax authority traced to domestic political funding. The Commission weaponized unsubstantiated charges of “Russian interference” to nullify a result that defied the Brussels consensus, then launched an investigation it has shown no urgency to conclude. The bureaucratic vocabulary is impeccable. The substance is election theft.
Censorship in the Service of War
The DSA’s deployment against domestic political dissent is inseparable from the EU’s broader foreign policy trajectory under von der Leyen and her High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas. Kallas — appointed in December 2024 without any direct vote by European citizens — arrived in the role as the first sitting head of government placed on Russia’s wanted list, a credential that observers across the political spectrum described as signaling the EU’s intent to escalate confrontation with Moscow.¹³ ¹⁴ Under von der Leyen’s Commission, the EU has imposed seventeen sanctions packages against Russia. The most recent of these extends well beyond conventional economic restrictions.
On May 20, 2025, under Council Decision CFSP 2025/966, the EU broadened its “hybrid threats” sanctions regime to target individuals and entities accused of “destabilising activities.”¹⁵ The measures include asset freezes, travel bans, and the suspension of broadcasting licenses for media outlets deemed to operate under Russian influence.¹⁵ Among those sanctioned were Thomas Röper and Alina Lipp — German nationals whose work as bloggers and commentators critical of EU policy on Russia earned them designations under the same legal framework applied to GRU operatives and companies engaged in undersea cable sabotage.¹⁶ The Council’s official reasoning against Lipp states that she is “engaging in and supporting actions by the Government of the Russian Federation” through “coordinated information manipulation and interference.”¹⁶
In the months that followed, the regime’s reach extended further. In June 2025, the Council sanctioned Nathalie Yamb, a Swiss-Cameroonian activist and social media figure known across francophone Africa as the “Lady of Sochi” for a speech she delivered at the 2019 Russia-Africa Summit calling for an end to French economic and military dominance on the continent.¹⁷ Yamb’s activism centered on African sovereignty, the abolition of the CFA franc — the colonial-era currency still underwritten by the French Treasury — and the withdrawal of French military forces from West Africa.¹⁸ She had not, in any substantive sense, commented on the war in Ukraine or advocated for Russian strategic interests in Europe. Her offense was campaigning against French neocolonialism in Africa — a cause with roots decades older than the current confrontation with Moscow. The EU sanctioned her anyway, claiming she had “adopted Moscow’s language targeting the West and France in particular with a view to ousting them from the African continent.”¹⁷
The formula is revealing: opposition to French colonial legacies in Africa is reclassified as a Russian hybrid threat, and the activist who voices it is subjected to the same asset freezes and travel bans as intelligence operatives accused of sabotaging undersea cables. The CFSP framework’s stated purpose — countering Russian destabilisation of European security — becomes, in application, a instrument for punishing anyone whose dissent happens to align, however incidentally, with positions Moscow also holds.
Then, in December 2025, the Council added Jacques Baud, a retired Swiss army colonel, former member of the Swiss Federal Intelligence Service, and veteran of NATO and United Nations operations spanning three decades.¹⁹ Baud’s career included designing the first multidimensional UN intelligence unit in Sudan, heading small arms control at NATO in Brussels, and serving in peacekeeping doctrine at the UN’s Department of Peacekeeping Operations.²⁰ The EU’s stated rationale: he “acts as a mouthpiece for pro-Russian propaganda and makes conspiracy theories.”¹⁹ His actual transgression was publishing books and giving interviews in which he argued — drawing on his professional background in intelligence analysis — that NATO expansion contributed to the conditions for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. At the time the sanctions were imposed, Baud was living in Brussels. He received no prior warning. He learned of the designation from the press.¹⁹ Switzerland, his country of citizenship, explicitly declined to adopt the hybrid threats regime under which he was listed.²¹ The practical consequences for Röper, Lipp, Yamb, and Baud are identical: bank accounts frozen, freedom of movement curtailed, financial lifelines severed — all by executive decision of the Council, without a criminal charge, a trial, a conviction, or, in Baud’s case, so much as a notification.
The EU now claims authority under this sanctions regime to prohibit transactions involving digital and communications infrastructure linked to Russian “destabilising activities.”¹⁵ The definition of what constitutes destabilisation remains, by design, in the hands of the same unelected officials who define “illegal content” under the DSA, who determine what constitutes a “systemic risk” to “civic discourse,” and who opened a platform investigation to provide cover for an annulled election whose evidentiary basis collapsed under scrutiny.
Censoring domestic critics of EU foreign policy, silencing media outlets, freezing the personal assets of journalists and commentators, and accelerating arms deliveries to Ukraine are not separate phenomena occurring in parallel. They compose a single program. War mobilization has always required the suppression of dissent — the manufacturing of consensus through the elimination of visible alternatives. The EU has simply dressed the machinery in the language of “transparency,” “platform governance,” and “hybrid threat mitigation,” terminology so anodyne that it obscures what is being constructed: a continental apparatus for enforcing narrative conformity on four hundred and fifty million people, administered by officials accountable to no electorate, and exported through the “Brussels effect” to billions more.
What This Apparatus Is
The European Union has no democratic mandate to police speech. The Digital Services Act is a censorship infrastructure that enforces narrative conformity across an entire continent and — because global platforms maintain uniform content moderation policies — reaches far beyond it. When unelected officials can extract penalties of up to six percent of a company’s worldwide revenue for hosting political expression they disfavor, when they can furnish the procedural basis for annulling election results grounded in intelligence claims their own investigation cannot confirm, when they can freeze the bank accounts and restrict the movement of journalists whose reporting contradicts the approved narrative, the appropriate term is not “regulation.” The appropriate term is authoritarianism — practiced by committee, documented in official journals, and insulated from democratic accountability by the deliberate complexity of its institutional architecture.
European citizens who value their remaining freedoms of expression and assembly should demand the repeal of the Digital Services Act and resist the broader militarization of EU governance that the Act’s censorship apparatus is designed to serve. Americans, for their part, should oppose any domestic legislation modeled on the DSA’s framework and support legislative measures that protect citizens and companies from the reach of extraterritorial censorship regimes. The machinery Brussels has built does not defend democracy. It is engineered to ensure that democracy never again produces results that Brussels cannot control.

Deze journalisten mogen niet alleen hun beroep niet meer uitoefenen, maar hebben geen beschikking over hun bankrekening en kunnen derhalve de huur of hypotheek niet meer betalen, wat ook geldt voor hun zorgkosten en zelfs wordt het hen onmogelijk gemaakt om een sociaal leven te leiden, dus uitgaan. enz is niet meer mogelijk. Hulp aan deze mensen, zowel geldelijk als middels levering van levensmiddelen, kan worden bestraft met 5 jaar gevangenisstraf!!! Niet alleen Duitsland doet aan deze beroepsverboden annex depersonalisaties, maar ook Frankrijk en Groot-Brittannië, beschuldigen zich hieraan, dit onder leiding van de EU... In this piece Mr Ritter explains in excruciating detail how the US first bombed a school, and then as the surviving children huddled with their remaining teachers, and as parents rushed to the school in distress, the United States of America then dropped a thermobaric weapon that killed the survivors, their teachers and their parents. These were children at a girls primary school - so from ages 6 to 11 - 168 mostly kids were killed.
