Kamala Harris, vicepresidentskandidaat voor de Democraten, geeft aan dat China ook onder Biden te maken zal hebben met een koude oorlog

Kamala Harris moet blijkbaar bewijzen dat China niets hoeft te verwachten van de VS mocht Biden verkozen worden tot president...... Daarbij zou zij de eerste vrouwelijke vicepresident zijn en dan nog eens 'gekleurd' ook, waarbij ze 'natuurlijk moet laten zien hoe hard ze wel niet kan zijn' en niet onder zal doen voor Trump en zijn vicepresident Pence....... 'Zoveel verschillen' de Democraten van de Republikeinen.........

De handelsoorlog van Trump tegen China is intussen uitgegroeid tot een koude oorlog waarbij de VS het nodig vindt om haar marine spierballen te tonen in de Zuid-Chinese Zee, alsof die direct grenst aan de territoriale wateren van de VS.........

Kortom wat veel deskundigen al hebben voorspeld en zoals je hier al vaker kon lezen: Biden is amper een alternatief voor Trump, waarbij men zelfs het racisme van Trump overneemt........

De wereld heeft ontspanning nodig en die zal Biden niet bieden, deze oorlogsmisdadiger is zelfs van zins nog harder op te treden tegen China, Rusland en landen als Venezuela en Iran......... Met name China moet het ontgelden in de praatjes van Harris, waar nog harder tegen China optreden (dan Trump) betekent dat er maar één mogelijkheid overblijft: een militaire aanval op deze kernwapenstaat.......

CODEPINK heeft een petitie opgezet waarmee men Harris oproepen te stoppen met haar agressie tegen China..... In de VS bestaat nog steeds haat tegen China en Chinezen, zoals bij ons in het begin van de Coronacrisis, waarbij in de VS nog steeds regelmatig geweld wordt gebruikt tegen deze mensen, ook leven ze al generaties lang in de VS..... Agressie vanwege het 'introduceren door China van het Coronavirus', haatzaaierij die Trump in elke toespraak minstens één keer gebruikt..... (Trump is dan ook hoofdverantwoordelijk voor de haat tegen deze bevolkingsgroep.....) Harris beschuldigt Trump van racisme, echter haar haatzaaierij tegen China helpt niet de agressie in de VS tegen mensen van Chinese komaf te temperen, integendeel!!

Het is in het belang van de hele wereld dat de VS stopt met haar agressie tegen China (Rusland, Iran en Venezuela), die alleen maar kan leiden tot oorlog inclusief de gebruikelijke enorme aantallen burgerslachtoffers en vernietiging van infrastructuur, onroerend goed, industrie en maar al te vaak landbouwgebieden...... Bovendien zal zo'n oorlog leiden tot kernwapengebruik waarna het leven op deze planeet wel eens tot een eind kan komen......

The hate and lies from the Biden campaign toward China are driving racism and sinophobia and must end now.

Last week, a Japanese American jazz pianist and recent first-time father, Tadataka Unno, was subject to a brutal racist attack by a group of eight young people at a New York City subway station. The 40-year-old suffered serious injuries, including a broken collarbone, and it is still unclear whether he will ever be able to perform again. His safety, livelihood, and sense of belonging in his own neighborhood were taken away from him. During this grotesque attack, Unno heard the group repeatedly calling him “Chinese.” This attack demonstrates in no uncertain terms the danger of promoting “tough on China” rhetoric, which is why we’re calling on Vice Presidential nominee, Kamala Harris, to help end the aggression towards China.

We are deeply concerned about the rising trends of racism, xenophobia, and sinophobia in our country. The brutal attack suffered by Unno is just one example. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, members of the Asian American community have been increasingly subjected to horrifying acts of violence and hatred. This anti-Asian sentiment has been egged on by President Trump’s insistence on calling COVID19 the “China virus” or worse yet, the “Kung Flu,” and other attacks on China. It is also fed by the disparaging remarks towards China coming from the Biden campaign, such as referring to China’s President Xi Jinping as a “thug.”

VS oorlog tegen terreur vervangen door militaire bedreiging van Rusland, China en Iran

Eve Ottenberg schreef op CounterPunch een artikel waarin ze betoogt dat de VS de oorlog tegen terreur (NB met VS ondersteuning van terreurgroepen als ISIS...) heeft vervangen voor het bedreigen van Rusland, China en Iran (en Venezuela*) met militaire actie......

Met haar leger, marine en luchtmacht** tart de VS de regimes van Rusland, China en Iran, alsof het om regimes gaat die op het punt staan om een oorlog te ontketenen tegen de VS.......

Trump zei in zijn vierde toespraak tot de VN dat China de grote agressor van de wereld is, terwijl hij zichzelf en de VS prees als vredestichters, voorvechters van mensenrechten en een natie die het beste voor heeft met de wereld....... Uiteraard kan iedereen zien die een klein beetje energie steekt in wat de VS alleen deze eeuw al heeft gepresteerd op dit gebied, dat het tegenovergestelde het geval is...... Deze eeuw heeft de VS met hulp van haar oorlogshond de NAVO (dus ook met hulp van Nederland) ruim meer dan 2,5 miljoen mensen over de kling gejaagd in illegale oorlogen, geheime militaire (CIA) acties en standrechtelijke executies van verdachten en waarbij meer dan 90% van de slachtoffers die werden vermoord niet eens werden verdacht.... 

Voorts is de VS een grote schender van mensenrechten en dat bepaald niet aleen in eigen land, zie bijvooorbeeld de steun voor bloedige dictaturen in Latijns-Amerika, of zelfs het vervangen van democratische gekozen presidenten voor rechtse dictatoriale schoften.... Wat nog te zeggen over de claim dat de VS het beste voorheeft met de wereld, terwijl de werkelijkheid laat zien dat de VS het beste voorheeft met zichzelf en daarvoor zelfs andere landen aanvalt......

Ottenberg betoogt terecht dat de VS met haar agressie, zoals de sancties tegen Iran en China, de banden tussen Iran en China heeft doen veranderen in hechte economische en vriendschappelijke banden*** en dat voor een tijd van minstens 25 jaar!! Volgens Ottenberg waren die hechte banden er ook zonder de VS wel gekomen, echter dat betwijfel ik toch enigszins, zeker gezien de omgang van China met de Oeigoeren, al wordt die omgang in het westen zwaar overdreven en aangezet met een hele berg leugens, echter zonder de agressie, of beter gezegd terreur (bestaande uit illegale sancties en militaire agressie tegen Iran) van de VS lijkt het me sterk dat deze regimes hechte banden zouden hebben aangeknoopt.......

Lees het artikel van Ottenberg en onthoudt wat ze te zeggen heeft, immers de VS is op een uiterst gevaarlijk pad beland en daar zal het met de Democraat Biden, mocht hij de presidentsverkiezingen winnen, niet van afwijken, sterker nog: Biden heeft al beloofd dat mocht hij winnen, de VS militaire actie zal ondernemen tegen Venezuela...... (vergeet niet dat Biden al een enorme oorlogsmisdadiger was, voordat Trump in beeld kwam.....)

Provocation on the High Seas: U.S. Naval Adventures Near the Shores of Russia, China and Iran

The war on terror is slowly ending. The U.S. military will try to keep bases in Iraq and Afghanistan, but with most troops gone in the next few years, the lives of the few who remain will be at constant risk. Pressure will mount to get those soldiers out. But Pentagon bureaucrats and brass are masters of institutional infighting, and, apparently, ignoring presidential orders they don’t like, so who knows how that will turn out? One thing is sure: the military’s focus has shifted, from the Middle East to Russia and China. That means U.S. soldiers and materiel will continue to be in places they shouldn’t, in ever greater numbers, namely the Black Sea and the South China Sea.

Lest you fear that peace might break out in the Middle East, there’s always the possibility of a U.S. assault on Iran. That chance greatly increased with the Trump regime’s monumental blunder of smashing the Iran nuclear treaty. Trump clearly thought his high-handed rejection would cow the Iranians. He was wrong. In an apparent rage, he ratcheted up sanctions, threats, insults and then – an assassination, the logical conclusion of which was war, had Trump not come to his senses. Since then things have cooled down a bit, though not enough to stop the Trump regime from interfering with Iran’s oil trade with Venezuela or from making preposterous accusations about Iranian plots against the U.S. ambassador to South Africa, an official with no relation to Iran, known mostly for her business in expensive handbags and for donating to Trump.

What the idiotically bellicose U.S. policy toward Iran – including the recent U.S. push for more sanctions – has mainly achieved is a warm embrace between Iran and China. And that’s not a matter susceptible to piracy on the high seas – the preferred U.S. approach to tankers taking Iranian fuel to Caracas. Nor will wild charges about planned assassinations of obscure, random U.S. bureaucrats affect this relationship. The Trump regime has blustered, threatened, insulted and caused the great Iran-China friendship to sink deep roots and blossom. It probably would have anyway, but Trump surely deserves credit for nourishing it.

As Time reported on July 29, Iran is negotiating a 25-year deal with China, with “billions of dollars worth of Chinese investments in energy, transportation, banking and cybersecurity in Iran.” There also could be “weapons development and intelligence sharing and joint military drills.” In short, this $400 billion deal is huge and alarm bells are ringing frantically in Washington. They shouldn’t be. If the Trump regime had been paying attention, they would have seen this coming, because it’s the logical outcome of their absurd hostility to both countries.

But then, cultural illiteracy regarding Iran is a feature of Republican policy in the Middle East. After all, the Bush regime invaded, conquered and destroyed Iraq – war crimes whose main beneficiary was Iran, which had no love, to say the least, for Saddam Hussein and was more than happy to cement its brotherhood with newly ascendant Iraqi Shia. This is the sort of stuff any high schooler could have alerted the Bush regime to in advance. But alas, the GOP’s geopolitical geniuses had no use for even high school wisdom. To ensure we all got that point, the Trump regime quickly pounced on one of Obama’s few decent and intelligent moves in the Middle East – the Iran nuclear treaty – and shredded it.

Still, the U.S. military’s focus has shifted. That shift started with Obama’s odious “pivot to China.” According to Chinese State Councilor Wang Yi, quoted by Russia Today, U.S. intervention in the South China Sea is “the main driver of militarization there.” Currently several countries in the region claim territory in the South China Sea – China, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Brunei. Some of these claims overlap, thus causing disputes, RT reports. The U.S. stirs the pot with its “freedom of navigation” military patrols. Naturally this intervention has led to incidents between the Chinese and U.S. militaries. And worse could happen any time. China regards the South China Sea as its backyard and the U.S. presence there as a provocation. After all, how would Washington react to Chinese military patrols in the Gulf of Mexico? That is the territorial equivalent of what the U.S. does to China, though Washington refuses to recognize this in its quest for global dominance.

It’s the same with U.S. aggression in the Black Sea, where the target is Russia. In August, the U.S. held military drills in the Black Sea, known, in the not too distant past, as the shores of Russia. Earlier, Andrei Krasov of the State Duma Defense Committee told the Interfax agency: “The actions of American reconnaissance aircraft will not remain without reaction.” 
Indeed, in late July, Russia reported intercepting an American reconnaissance flight over the Black Sea. Two much of this sort of stuff could lead to war.

So what we have here is the U.S. fishing in troubled waters. NATO has already nearly surrounded Russia, which now boasts supersonic nuclear weapons. In response, Trump recently revealed that the U.S. has some sort of secret “super” weapon. Which only makes the Black Sea brinksmanship more dangerous. Both adversaries are armed to the teeth. To make matters worse, Trump has ripped up all nuclear treaties with Russia except START – and that is at death’s door.

A war with either Russia, China or Iran would be catastrophic, as anyone with a brain knows. Nor would it solve any of the myriad disasters currently besetting the U.S.: an out-of-control pandemic, with more fatalities than any other country in the world and no end in sight; economic collapse, with tens of millions jobless and millions facing eviction and homelessness in a few months; a climate taking revenge on fossil fuel capitalism by burning up large swaths of the globe, including the American West Coast; other human-induced, climate change, extreme weather events elsewhere in the U.S., like the currently soggy Gulf Coast; the rise of violent, over-armed, know-nothing, radical right-wing vigilantes; racial unrest. And those are just the big, obvious monster weeds in the American front yard. 
Washington should take a page from Voltaire and tend its own garden. Forget about the Black Sea, the South China Sea and the Gulf of Oman. Now is not the time for new conflict. Because as every school child knows, never is the only time for nuclear war.

*   Ottenberg noemt Venezuela niet, echter dit land mag in deze vooral niet vergeten worden, zeker als je ziet dat alleen al door de VS sancties tegen dat land, meer dan 50.000 mensen om het leven zijn gekomen, ofwel vermoord door VS terreur!!

*** Hetzelfde geldt voor Rusland en China, die door de agressie en sancties van de VS in elkaars armen zijn gedreven.

De VS houdt al een paar jaar oorlogsschepen in de buurt van de Zuid-Chinese zee, zo zou het nu weer een paar 'supervliegdekschepen' in de buurt hebben en dat alles tegen 'Chinese expansie' (ha! ha! ha! ha!). China heeft niet voor niets wat rotseilandjes in deze zee geclaimd, zeker als je ziet dat de VS een groot aantal militaire bases rond de oostkant van China heeft ingericht, inclusief in Zuid-Korea......* De VS stelt dan ook zoals gezegd en volkomen hypocriet dat China expansie politiek bedrijft in de Zuid-Chinese Zee, terwijl de VS zelfs op veel grotere afstanden van de eigen territoriale wateren eilanden heeft geclaimd, zoals Hawaï (totaal belachelijk dat dit VS grondgebied is, dit is niets anders dan een smerig koloniaal overblijfsel!!).

Het is niet meer dan logisch dat China een groot deel van de Zuid-Chinese Zee claimt, al was het alleen al als buffer tegen de grote aanwezigheid van VS bases rond die zee en alle marine manoeuvres van de VS in die zee....

Hier een afbeelding waarop een aantal militaire bases van de VS zijn te zien, bases die ingezet kunnen worden in een oorlog tegen China en/of Noord-Korea, in totaal zou het om meer dan 250 VS bases gaan (let op de basis onder het woord China, dit zou een basis in Vietnam moeten zijn, zie nogmaals: *):
 

Een ander eiland, of beter gezegd eilandje dat zich bevindt tussen Hawaï en Japan is een 'geheim eiland', geheim wat betreft de VS basis op dat eiland met de naam 'Wake-eiland'. De VS is bezig de militaire basis op dat eiland, waarop ook een militair vliegveld, fiks uit te breiden...... Dit eiland zou buiten het bereik liggen van Chinese en Noord-Koreaanse raketten...... Alleen dat feit al geeft aan dat de VS werkelijk rekening houdt een oorlog tegen één van deze twee landen te beginnen.......

De VS dat zo vaak de vuilbek vol heeft over het bewaren van de stabiliteit, waar het andere landen beschuldigt deze stabiliteit te ondermijnen, terwijl het zelf illegale oorlogen begint die elke stabiliteit in de regio van zo'n oorlog totaal destabiliseert,...... Neem dit soort uitlatingen tegen Iran, dat nooit een expansie oorlog is begonnen, terwijl de VS in de buurt van Iran, alleen deze eeuw maar liefst 3 illegale oorlogen is gestart....

Onbegrijpelijk dat andere westerse landen als makke schapen, of beter nog als debiele schapen achter de VS aansjokken en deze uiterst agressieve terreurentiteit keer op keer haar gang laten gaan, dat heeft sinds het eind van WOII aan ruim meer dan 22,5 miljoen mensen het leven gekost, waarvan in deze eeuw ruim meer dan 2,5 miljoen (massamoorden waaraan ook andere NAVO-lidstaten, tevens VS hielenlikkers zoals Nederland hebben deelgenomen.....)......

Satellite Images Show US Airfield Expansion At Secretive Island Outpost Just Outside Chinese Missile Reach

Considered one of the most strategically important unincorporated US island outposts in the world, Wake Island is also among the most restricted territories claimed by the US (also claimed by the Marshall Islands), given it remains a key American military outpost located about halfway between Hawaii and Japan.

It has historically served as a vital staging ground for US aircraft operating in the Western Pacific and as a remote line of defense, and is more recently witnessing military build-up as part of the US Navy's “pivot toward the Pacific” — especially given rising US-China tensions and the controversial presence of two US supercarriers in the disputed South China Sea.

Fresh satellite imagery republished by The Drive shows significant expansion to facilities, including to the airfield, which has a nearly 10,000 foot runway. Military publications have previously note that  "Wake is the only 10,000-foot runway for a 4,000-mile stretch of Pacific Ocean."

The report details that images "The War Zone obtained from Planet Labs dated June 25th, 2020 shows that substantial improvements to the base have occurred recently. Based on archival satellite imagery, the major expansions to the airfield began early this year and are still underway today."

America's remote outpost deep in the Pacific, situated roughly between Japan and Hawaii, Wake Island serves as a reserve airfield should American airpower have to fallback from the far reaches of Western Pacific during a peer state conflict.

New satellite imagery that The War Zone obtained from Planet Labs dated June 25th, 2020 shows that substantial improvements to the base have occurred recently. Based on archival satellite imagery, the major expansions to the airfield began early this year and are still underway.

The new satellite images shows the large eastern apron area's big expansion, as well as an enlarged secondary apron area on the west end on the runway. The runway itself has been completely rebuilt.

But Wake Island would be out of reach in any rapid conflict with either China or North Korea, which would target nearer bases up to and including Guam with long-range cruise missiles.

   

Thus Wake Island would be considered a first line fall-back position in any hot war with major US enemies in Asia. Conscious of this, it appears the Pentagon is busy rapidly improving the remote atoll.

De Trump administratie doet niet anders dan China demoniseren met leugens en beschuldigingen waarvan het doel wat mij betreft duidelijk is: China manipuleren, nog meer dan Trump met de handelsoorlog tegen dit land al heeft gedaan. Uiteraard is e.e.a. ook bedoeld om de totale chaos te verbergen van de Trump administratie wat betreft het beleid op het Coronavirus..... 

Waar Trump China eerder de hemel in heeft geprezen wat betreft de aanpak op het Coronavirus, heeft hij die uitspraken (veelal gedaan op Twitter) omgeruild voor het demoniseren van China, waarbij hij de Coronavirus uitbraak in de VS de grootste aanval ooit op de VS heeft genoemd.... Tel bij het voorgaande Trumps uitspraak op dat China en alleen China verantwoordelijk is voor de uitbraak van het virus in de VS en je kan concluderen dat Trump China beschuldigt als het land dat de grootste aanval ooit op de VS heeft gepleegd, een niet alleen volkomen gestoorde redenering maar ook een uiterst gevaarlijke uitspraak.......

 

En zie wat Trump in 2009 over het handelen op een 'pandemie' door Obama durfde te zeggen:

De VS heeft niet alleen een groot aantal militaire bases rond de (noord- en zuid-) oostelijke grenzen van China, maar vaart ook af en aan met haar marine door gebieden die China terecht tot haar territoriale wateren rekent, zoals een flink deel van de Zuid-Chinese Zee..... 'Erger' zoals sancties die de VS illegaal heeft ingesteld tegen landen die niet wensen te worden geabsorbeerd door deze uiterst gevaarlijke terreurentiteit, sancties die bijvoorbeeld in Venezuela al aan bijna 50.000 mensen het leven hebben gekost, sancties die een economische oorlog vormen en derhalve als grootschalige terreur moeten worden veroordeeld, sterker nog die illegale sancties vallen zonder meer onder het begrip: misdaad tegen de menselijkheid!!

Johnstone stelt dat we in een Derde Wereldoorlog zijn beland die zich op 'slow motion' voltrekt, waarbij de westerse reguliere media de grote propagandisten zijn van deze oorlog..... China is in the news every day now. Today here in Australia we're pretending to be offended because a Chinese tabloid published the accusation that our nation is a "giant kangaroo that serves as a dog of the US", even though we all know that's completely true and we should be flattered that at least they said "giant". Before that we were getting indignant over a hefty barley tariff in response to our facilitation of America's global anti-China spin campaign, which it turns out Washington screwed us on.

Anti-China sentiment has been thriving in Australia, aided by our Murdoch-dominated news media, State Department-funded think tanks explicitly geared toward manipulating the China narrative, and of course our own deep-seated racism and xenophobia. Because of its geographical location, the US military/intelligence asset conventionally known as Australia has been a major focal point for the US-centralized empire's propaganda campaign against the most powerful unabsorbed nation in the world.

China is in the news constantly now, and it's not because of any virus. It's not because of Hong Kong, it's not because of Uighurs, it's not because of intellectual property violations or any of the other scattershot, unrelated hodgepodge of excuses you're being fed as to why the Chinese government must be regarded as the latest Actual Hitler all of a sudden.

China is in the news all the time because of imperialism.

To understand what's going on with China and why the "news" media keep punching you in the face with stories about how awful it is, you really only need to grasp two basic points:

Point 1: We are in the middle of a slow-motion third world war between the US-centralized power alliance and the nations which have resisted being absorbed into it.

A loose alliance of nationless oligarchs who use governments as weapons have secured control over a large empire-like cluster of nations with economic and military might loosely centralized around the United States. In order to gain more power and ensure its ongoing hegemony, this oligarchic empire must keep expanding by absorbing more nations and brutalizing them if they resist. China is by far the most powerful of the unabsorbed nations, followed by Russia at a distant second and Iran at a distant third.

Nuclear weapons make another hot world war undesirable, so this one takes the form of resource control, economic warfare, staging coups, arming oppositional militias to use as proxy armies, expanding military presence in key geostrategic regions under the pretense of fighting terrorism, and "humanitarian interventionism", with old-school full-scale ground invasions used only as a last resort, and only after manufacturing sufficient international approval to ensure the continued cohesion of the empire-like power alliance.

But the end goal is the same as that of a conventional world war: to beat the other side into submission and compliance. And, in this case, absorption into the imperial blob. After the fall of the Soviet Union, the prevailing orthodoxy in US power structures became that the US must maintain unipolar hegemony at all cost to maintain a "liberal world order" (even if it means abandoning "liberal" values whenever it's convenient). From that point on the agenda has been global domination and the slow, suffocating subversion of anyone who gets in the way.

Point 2: Propaganda is used to move this world war along.

In a conventional war each side has clear military objectives that everyone understands, and the weapons are naturally moved around in accordance with these objectives. In this weird slow-motion world war, nobody understands what's going on besides the major power players and those who are paying very close attention. The various agendas against the governments of Iran, Venezuela, Russia, Syria, China etc appear different and unrelated when looked at individually, and indeed you will see different political factions supporting some of these agendas but not others. The only thing unifying this slow-motion movement toward the destruction and absorption of all unabsorbed nations is carefully constructed propaganda narratives.

The way these unifying propaganda narratives operate is simple. It would never occur to rank-and-file citizens that a nation on the other side of the planet that's pretty much just doing its own thing needs to be sanctioned, subverted and brought to heel, so the imperialist oligarchs who own the political/media class make sure everyone is fed custom-made narratives according to their own ideological echo chamber to prevent any domestic inertia from being thrown on these agendas. Once there's sufficient agreement that Saddam/Gaddafi/Morales/Assad/Maduro/whomever must go, the campaign to subvert, sabotage and absorb that government can safely be escalated.

If you can understand points one and two, you can understand everything that's happening with China, and everything that will continue to happen. Propaganda narratives will be rolled out with increasing aggression which have the long-term goal of alienating China from its allies, hurting its economic interests, and preventing its rise to true superpower status and creating a multipolar world.

And the funny thing is, none of this is necessary. Westerners have been deliberately propagandized into believing that China wants to take over the world and will do so unless kept in line by the United States, who has surrounded China with military bases in an act of extreme aggression that the US itself would never tolerate from any unabsorbed government. But if you really grill people on how they know that China wants to take over the world, you'll find they don't have any substantial evidence for it.

They'll tell you that China has an authoritarian government which persecutes ethnic and religious minorities, wrongly claiming that this means they want to take over the world and inflict the same on everyone else. They'll tell you China has sought to expand control over some directly adjacent territories, wrongly claiming that this means they want to dominate the planet militarily like the US currently does. They'll cite evidence which shows China is seeking to become a superpower and create a multipolar world (something China openly admits) and wrongly claim that this is proof that they are seeking to dominate the world with unipolar hegemony. They won't be able to produce any actual, hard evidence that China is trying to take over the world and censor your internet and take away your rights, because no such evidence exists. It's a completely empty belief arising from aggressive narrative manipulation.

"One myth I think really that needs to be dispelled is that somehow China is aiming to replace America and going to run the world, and it's not," said Chinese venture capitalist and social scientist Eric Li on the John Pilger documentary The Coming War on China. "First of all, the Chinese are not that stupid. The west, with its Christian roots, are about converting other people into their beliefs. The Chinese are not about that. It's just that--again, I'm not degrading the western culture, I'm just pointing out the inherent nature, the DNA of two different cultures--the Chinese two thousand years ago built the Great Wall to keep the barbarians out, not to invade them."

I'd say this is a reasonable summary. After European nations tried to conquer the planet just a few generations ago in the name of spreading Christianity and "civilization", we're projecting our sick vestigial colonialist values on a nation whose culture never drove it to such madness.

Arresting people for future crimes is called "pre-crime", and it's the stuff of dystopian horror fiction. Violently dominating an entire planet because another country might hurt yours in the future is called "US foreign policy", and it's the stuff of mainstream news punditry.

Violently dominating the entire planet for all eternity on the vague suspicion that another country wants to do the same to you is not sane, and is not an option. Unabsorbed nations should be allowed to remain unabsorbed, absorbed nations should have their sovereignty restored (or in Australia's case granted to it for the first time since its existence as a nation), and America should begin acting like a normal country. The notion of "pre-crime" is the purview of dystopian horror fiction when applied to individual people, and there's no reason we should find the prospect of attacking and destroying for hypothetical future offenses any less insane on an international scale.

There was never any reason for the coronavirus to be made into an issue of international conflict when it could just as easily be an issue of international collaboration, and indeed collaborating is what we should all be doing, with this virus and with everything else. Let's end this weird slow-motion world war and move toward sanity.
