Duitsland exporteert in EU verboden gif

Alweer een staaltje, je gelooft je ogen niet,. Kreeg afgelopen vrijdag 4 een mail van Pesticide Action Network (PAN) waarin aandacht voor de export van gif door Duitsland, het land waar 10% van de totale wereld landbouwgif productie vandaan komt. PAN houdt een lijst aan met zwaar gif genaamd: Highly Hazardous Pesticides, of: HHPs en de vraag of Duitsland in de EU verboden gif exporteert naar landen buiten de EU werd na onderzoek van PAN met ja beantwoord ......

Te schunnig voor woorden dat Duitsland en de EU export toestaan van gif waarvan jaarlijks miljoenen mensen ziek worden, zoals kleine boeren en boerenknechten (agrarisch assistent?). Dit terwijl men in Duitsland en de EU weet dat je er ziek van wordt, niet voor niets werd het gebruik van bepaalde soorten gif verboden in de EU.....  In arme landen is er vaak zelfs geen beschermende kleding voorradig die gebruikt moet worden bij het spuiten van gif.....

Er zit overigens nog een andere kant aan deze zaak: de consumptie van groente en fruit dat werd behandeld met deze gevaarlijke soorten gif...... Groente en fruit dat we kopen op de markt of in de supermarkt, komt voor een deel van buiten de EU en mag ondanks het gif op en in die producten gewoon worden verkocht in de EU-lidstaten.... Ach, de EU heeft besloten dat het kankerverwekkende glyfosaat (verwerkt in Roundup) nog 'n jaar of vijf gebruikt mag worden door landbouwbedrijven, waardoor je ook een 'lekkere krop sla' afgeladen met gif kan kopen in de supermarkt........ Het voorgaande mede met dank aan Bas Eickhout van 'GroenLinks' die voor deze langere toelating van dit kankerverwekkend gif heeft getekend, ook namens de Nederlandse leden van deze oplichterspartij......

Terug naar de export van zwaar gif naar buiten de EU: in feite is de export massamoord op zeer grote schaal, nogmaals hoe is dit mogelijk anno 2019?? Deze vraag daar Bayer dat Monsanto heeft overgenomen, nu de grootste gifproducent ter wereld is, een bedrijf dat tijdens WOII proeven met nieuwe medicijnen enz. uitvoerde op concentratiekamp gevangenen (vooral veel op Joden.....)..... Je kan wel stellen dat het bedrijf sindsdien op een andere manier veel slachtoffers om zeep heeft geholpen en helpt.....

Hoe is het mogelijk dat de EU zaken verbiedt vanwege het grote gevaar voor de volksgezondheid en dan toch toestemming geeft deze letterlijke kankertroep buiten de EU te verkopen...... Blijkbaar zijn de levens van de mensen buiten de EU zo weinig waard dat men het wel kies vindt deze troep aan hen te verkopen...... Ten overvloede is dit nog een teken dat we uit de EU moeten, immers men laat de oren daar hangen naar wat de grote bedrijven hen voorkauwen en de volksgezondheid komt pas heel ver na het geld verdienen aan bod......

Overigens zorgt landbouwgif voor het uitsterven van insecten (waaronder een enorm aantal bijen) en zonder insecten wordt overleven voor de mens een uiterst hachelijke zaak......

De hoogste tijd dat het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC) zich met deze smerige door de EU gelegaliseerde massamoord gaat bemoeien!!

                 

Double standard: Germany exporting banned pesticides

Germany is a powerful player in global pesticide markets. Home to Bayer Crop Science, this single European country is responsible for more than 10% of international pesticide trade.

Researchers here at Pesticide Action Network (PAN) Germany recently conducted an investigation to see whether the country is exporting highly hazardous pesticides (HHPs) that have already been banned in the European Union. The answer is yes. 

Troubling results

We examined official export data provided by the German Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety, and compared them to the PAN International HHPs List and the European Union (EU) pesticide database. We asked the following questions: How many HHPs are exported from Germany? Do companies in Germany export pesticides whose use is prohibited in the EU for health or environmental reasons? How transparent is the German pesticide export business? 

Earlier this week we published the results of our research in the report Giftige Exporte (Toxic Exports), with an English executive summary. We found that as of 2017 (the most recent data available), Germany: 

• Exported 59,616 tons of pesticide ingredients (excluding inert gases). This exceeds total domestic use of pesticide ingredients by 1.7%. 
• Exported 233 different pesticide active ingredients, of which 62 are HHPs (more than a quarter of all exports). 
• Exported nine pesticides which are not approved for use in the EU, including the pesticides cyanamide, acetochlor, and tepraloxydim, which are listed by the EU as carcinogenic and toxic to reproduction.

A global problem

The pesticide industry, one of the largest business sectors in the world, is booming. At the same time, each year millions of people worldwide suffer acute pesticide poisoning and chronic health harms linked to exposure. 

HHPs are an especially serious threat to the well-being of the environment and the health of people all over the world. Case in point? A report of more than 2000 interviews conducted in seven Asian countries, released recently by our partners from PAN Asia and Pacific,  showed that 70% of small-scale farmers and agricultural workers suffer from symptoms of acute poisoning. Similar figures are reported in Latin America.

It is shocking that European and German law permits the export of pesticides that are banned in the EU. We also know these banned pesticides are often exported to countries in the Global South, where regulation of pesticides can be weak, and people may spray them without having access to personal protective equipment. 

Together with our global PAN partners, we are fighting for the elimination of this double standard. We are pushing for binding international pesticide regulations and the phaseout of HHPs. We support the replacement of these chemicals — around the world — with agroecology .

Een derde rechtszaak tegen Monsanto vanwege het zwaar kankerverwekkende Roundup (met het werkzame gif glyfosaat) toont aan dat Monsanto nauwe banden heeft met regelgevers in de VS, zoals het Environmental 'Protection' Agency (EPA), protection tussen aanhalingstekens daar het EPA allesbehalve het milieu en de bevolking beschermd, zoals uit het hieronder opgenomen artikel ten overvloede nog eens blijkt........

Het EPA was al tot de slotsom gekomen dat glyfosaat* niet kankerverwekkend is..... ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Nee, je doet op verzoek van de producent, die miljarden heeft verdiend aan dit smerige gif, onderzoek en komt dan tot de conclusie dat het niet kankerverwekkend is, terwijl echte deskundigen en zelfs de rechter stellen dat dit wel zo is........

Het is ronduit een schande dat de EU Roundup weer heeft toegelaten voor een aantal jaren, mede met dank aan 'GroenLinks' EU grofgraaier Bas Eickhout......

Niet geheel toevallig dat de grote insectensterfte (twee derde van de insecten is inmiddels gestorven) begon nadat Roundup in de 70er jaren op de markt kwam.......

Lees het volgende artikel over deze zaak en verbaas je ook over deze smerige lobby van de EPA voor Monsanto, een samenwerking die ten koste gaat van het milieu, de dieren en als onderdeel van die laatste groep: de mens. New Roundup-Cancer Lawsuit Exposes Cozy Relationship Between Monsanto and EPA

A third lawsuit related to claims that Monsanto’s Roundup causes cancer has revealed new details about the cozy relationship between the biotech giant and U.S. regulators.

(TMU) — On Monday, Monsanto Co. corporate spokesman William Reeves admitted the corporation has regularly communicated with U.S. regulatory agencies regarding reviews of the controversial Roundup herbicide. Reeves denied that Monsanto had given the agencies orders to follow. Reeves’ testimony came about during the latest lawsuit against biotech giant Monsanto, as Alva and Alberta Pilliod fight to prove that Roundup caused their cancer.

The Pilliods are both living with non-Hodgkin lymphoma after spraying the herbicide Roundup on their properties for nearly 30 years. The septuagenarian couple were diagnosed with the most common form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, in 2011 and 2015.

Now the couple is seeking damages related to their use of Roundup after recent studies have linked the world’s most popular herbicide to cancer.

Courthouse News reported on the latest developments in the case:

“Attorney Brent Wisner, representing plaintiffs Alva and Alberta Pilliod, played video testimony of Monsanto corporate spokesman William Reeves in court Monday, in which he acknowledged Monsanto executives had exchanged text messages with regulators who sat on a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency committee that found glyphosate, the main ingredient in Roundup, is not carcinogenic for humans.The Pilliods’ legal team hopes these email and text exchanges will be enough evidence of collusion between Monsanto and the EPA to delay a review by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, a public health agency connected to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”

The text messages show that on June 18, 2015, Monsanto scientist Eric Sachs sent a text message to former EPA toxicologist Mary Manibusan, looking for help finding a contact in the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR). Sachs was looking to communicate with someone in relation to the agency’s ongoing work developing a toxicological profile of glyphosate, Roundup’s main ingredient. The ATSDR had begun working on the profile after the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research concluded that glyphosate was “probably carcinogenic to humans.”

In another text, Manibusan told Dan Jenkins, Monsanto’s liaison to U.S. regulatory agencies like the EPA, that he may need help “trying to do everything we can to keep from having a domestic IARC occur with this group,” in reference to the ATSDR. By June 23, 2015, Jenkins wrote to his Monsanto colleagues alerting them that Jack Housenger, director of EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs, would put a hold on the report.  “ATSDR Director and Branch Chief have promised Jack Housenger (Director of the US Office of Pesticide Programs) to put their report ‘on hold’ until after EPA releases its preliminary risk assessment (PRA) for glyphosate,” Jenkins wrote.

When questioned about these texts by the Pilliods’ lawyers, Reeves confirmed the text messages were authentic, but stated, “I never heard anyone at the EPA say they were going to tell ATSDR what to do.”

The testimony from Reeves comes a week after Dr. Dennis Weisenburger testified that years of spraying Roundup likely caused the Pilliods’ lymphoma. Dr. Weisenburger testified that Alberta used Roundup an estimated 279 times, and Al 729 times—both without wearing protective equipment.“It’s not a hard call,” Weisenburger said on the witness stand, stating that using Roundup more than two days per year doubles the risk of developing non-Hodgkin lymphoma. “It’s the intensity of exposure that’s more important than the length.”

The Pilliods’ trial is expected to wrap up in the coming weeks, with Monsanto’s lawyers beginning their cross examination next week.

The case is the third lawsuit brought against Monsanto in the last two years. In 2018, a California jury found that Monsanto’s Roundup contributed to cancer in DeWayne Johnson, a former school groundskeeper. In that case, evidence of corporate misconduct played a key role in the jury’s decision. In August 2018, Johnson was awarded $289 million after a jury found that Monsanto failed to notify him and other consumers of the dangers of Roundup.

Additionally, a jury in San Francisco recently found that Monsanto’s Roundup weed killer played a significant role in contributing to 70-year old Edwin Hardeman’s cancer. Hardeman used Roundup on his 56-acre Sonoma County property for decades before he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2015. The unanimous verdict concluded a trial that may determine the future of thousands of similar lawsuits filed against biotechnology giant Monsanto.

Monsanto, naamsverandering in Bayer om misdaden te verdoezelen....... ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

Ruchi Shroff schreef op Common Dreams (Creative Commons) een artikel over de naamsverandering van Monsanto in Bayer. Gezien alle ellende waarmee de naam Monsanto is verbonden, is het niet vreemd om te denken dat men met de naam Bayer probeert misdaden weg te wassen.

Het is wel duidelijk dat men in de VS niet veel weet over de rol van het (Duitse*) bedrijfsleven tijdens WOII, bijvoorbeeld het feit dat Bayer tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog Joodse concentratiekampgevangenen gebruikte als proefdier.......

Shroff spreekt dan ook niet over de vreselijke oorlogsmisdaden begaan onder de naam Bayer, maar alleen over de vele misdaden begaan onder de naam Monsanto.

Doet verder niets af aan de misdaden van Monsanto die Shroff beschrijft (en zoals op deze plek vaak beschreven).

Monsanto wist al lang dat glyfosaat kankerverwekkend is en ondanks dat heeft het bedrijf 'wetenschappers' betaald om de stelling dat glyfosaat en daarmee de nummer één hit in de 'pesticide wereld', Roundup niet kankerverwekkend is en geen noemenswaardig gevaar vormt voor de volksgezondheid........

Het kan nog gekker: Monsanto heeft het voor elkaar gekregen dat glyfosaat nog 5 jaar lang gebruikt mag worden in de EU, iets waar zelfs Bas Eickhout, 'GroenLinks' EU grofgraaier mee akkoord ging......**

Monsanto-Bayer: Eliminating the Name Will Not Erase the Criminal History

(CD Opinion) — Cancelling out Monsanto’s name and keeping only that of Bayer, does not mean forgetting the wrongdoings of a company which, according to the verdict of the Monsanto Tribunal of The Hague, is stained with crimes of ecocide. With Bayer’s official takeover of Monsanto, the giant multinational also inherits its liabilities.

On the eve of the start of the integration process, Monsanto has been held liable for causing cancer through the use of its glyphosate-based weedkiller Roundup and ordered to pay $289 million of damages to the plaintiff Dewayne Lee Johnson in the first landmark case, settled in California in mid August 2018. The jury also found that Monsanto “acted with malice or oppression.”

According to Reuters, the number of lawsuits brought against Bayer’s newly acquired Monsanto is approximately 8000 in the US alone. UN experts Ms Hilal Elver, Special Rapporteur on the right to food and Mr. Dainius Pūras, Special Rapporteur on the right to physical and mental health, defined the ruling “a significant recognition of the human rights of victims, and the responsibilities of chemical companies.”

Revelations in reports published last year, most notably the “Monsanto Papers” and the “Poison Papers“, have shed light on strategies of big agrochemical groups to expand their empires: from lobbying, interference in government agencies’ proceedings, attacks in collusion with institutions on independent science, to mega mergers and acquisitions. For the first time part of these documents were shown to a jury, which were able, among other things to also see that, “at least starting 20 years ago, Monsanto has known that their product can cause cancer, and has gone out of its way to ignore it and/or fight any science that suggests a link”, as declared to Democracy Now by Brent Wisner, the lead trial counsel for Dewayne Lee Johnson in his lawsuit against Monsanto. Added to this, in the same week, California’s Supreme Court rejected a challenge by Monsanto to the state’s decision to include glyphosate in its Proposition 65 list of carcinogens.

On other fronts, other lawsuits have been filed in the US by farmers’groups, and seed sellers are pushing environmental regulators to bar farmers from spraying dicamba weed killer, key ingredient of the new Monsanto-Bayer and Basf products, which has been causing drift-related crop injuries sweeping across rural America in the last 2 years; in Europe, the special committee on pesticides authorization process reacted to the US court’s decision by calling once again for a ban of glyphosate in the continent; in Sri Lanka, where a fatal chronic kidney disease (CKDu) has been linked to glyphosate use, a group formed by farmers’ organizations, scientists and affected families declared that they are ready to take Bayer/Monsanto and other glyphosate herbicide manufacturers to the Supreme Court.

Vietnam is also demanding compensation for victims of exposure to the Agent Orange, the chemical produced by Monsanto for the US military during the Vietnam War. A clear signal of the fact that Monsanto’s past is set to haunt Bayer in spite of all efforts to eliminate the brand name, is that the week following the verdict, Bayer’s shares fell sharply, approximately by 10 – 12% ($12.5 Billion).  It is interesting to note that the stock exchange, the very core of today’s globalized economy, seems to be quite unforgiving.

Navdanya, along with civil society organizations around the world, will continue to monitor, report and protest so that the agroecological, transition also recently discussed at the FAO‘s Symposium on Agroecology, becomes a reality and that local, circular and inclusive economies, nutritious and healthy food, become the norm once again After fifty years of an intensive, unhealthy food production model that has devastated our agriculture system by polluting the environment, producing poisonous food and without remotely solving the hunger problem, has instead further undermined people’s food sovereignty. Industrial agriculture in fact can claim only a relatively small portion of the global food production. The majority of the food we consume is, actually, still produced by small and medium farmers, while the vast majority of crops coming from the industrial sector, such as maize and soya, is mainly used as animal feed or to produce biofuels.

Navdanya International has invited leading experts from around the world for the drafting of the Manifesto “Food for Health. Cultivating Biodiversity, Cultivating Health.” The Manifesto, which will be widely disseminated to farmers and citizens, governments and stakeholders, aims at highlighting the inseparable link between food and health, developing comprehensive strategies to overcome the model of industrial agriculture, encouraging the convergence and action of the movement for Agroecology and Public Health movements to reach a common vision of sustainable development, which must be equitable and inclusive, based on biodiversity and poison-free food and farming systems.

The work of Navdanya International, from the creation of the International Commission on the Future of Food and Agriculture, and the publication of four Manifestos, has focused on promoting a new agricultural and economic paradigm, and the belief that solutions to the multiple crises facing humanity today can come from a determined shift away from the present profit and competitive-based paradigm to a model that has at its keystone the protection of the earth and environment and respect of the rights and dignity of people. In biodiverse organic farming, in Seed Freedom for farmers and citizens, in circular economies based on meaningful work, we can find solutions to the environmental, climate, social and economic crisis. We will continue to reclaim citizens’ rights, as well as those of small and medium producers, who, despite being crushed by the current market mechanisms, are the only ones providing us with healthy and nutritious food.

Furthermore, we will not stop fighting this attempt of multinationals to takeover of our food, health and democracy which, instead of being regulated by our elected representatives, are increasingly able to take on the role of regulators through heavy lobbying actions, thus posing a serious threat to our own democratic system.
