Iran-deal: de echte reden waarom Trump deze deal de nek heeft omgedraaid

Darius Shahtahmasebi buigt zich in het hieronder opgenomen artikel over de vraagt waarom de Trump administratie de Iran-deal (JCPOA) niet ziet zitten.

Volgens Shahtahmasebi werkt de (nucleaire) Iran-deal uitstekend, veel te goed in de ogen van de oorlogshitsers, die allesbehalve zitten te wachten op vrede waar dan ook, oorlogshitsers die uiteraard gelieerd zijn aan de wapenindustrie en daar onbeschaamd voor lobbyen middels het verspreiden van leugens en het zaaien van angst..... Helaas zijn deze lobbyisten (zeker in de VS) niet zelden de politici die aan de touwen trekken......

Met al zijn gebral tegen Iran heeft Trump nooit aangegeven wat er nu echt mis is met de Iran-deal, aldus Shahtahmasebi, anders dan te stellen dat de Iraniërs zich niet aan de deal houden, maar zoals gezegd daar is geen flinter bewijs voor gegeven. Sterker nog: volgens de VN wapeninspecteurs en andere deskundigen heeft Iran geen mogelijkheden meer om nog een kernwapen te ontwikkelen en nog sterker is het feit dat VS ambtenaren bij herhaling hebben gezegd dat Iran zich aan de deal houdt.........

De Trump administratie stelt dat er een nieuwe deal moet worden gesloten met Iran, waar deze deal met zoveel voor Iran onmogelijke bepalingen zal worden ingekleed dat Iran deze niet zal tekenen...... Met de stok van de VS sancties achter de deur, zal ook de EU zich uiteindelijk achter Trump scharen, immers met de VS sancties in werking zal elk EU bedrijf dat zich niet aan de VS sancties houdt, geen zaken meer kunnen doen met instellingen/bedrijven die in eigendom zijn van VS burgers, aandeelhouders, dan wel van VS investeerders (zoals hedge funds).

Het laatste betekent dat bedrijven die zich niet aan de VS sancties houden, niet alleen geen zaken meer kunnen doen in de VS, maar ook gedwarsboomd zullen worden in handelen met bedrijven buiten de VS...... Bovendien moet de leiding van bedrijven die zich niet aan de VS sancties houden erop rekenen dat zij door de VS op de lijst van gezochte misdadigers worden geplaatst, waarmee zelfs hun bewegingsvrijheid zal worden beperkt, immers de VS heeft met een groot aantal landen een uitleveringsverdrag.....

Shahtahmasebi is in zijn schrijven vergeten Israël als één van de redenen te noemen waarom Trump de Iran-deal 'afschoot': als er één land is is dat Iran liever vandaag dan morgen aanvalt, is het Israël wel en zoals bekend de zionisten in de VS bepalen op diverse manieren hoe de VS handelt op gebied van buitenlandpolitiek.....

Al even aangestipt in het voorgaande: de VS is niet uit op vrede in de wereld, dat zou het militair-industrieel complex geen goed doen en daarmee zouden de grote beleggers kapitalen kunnen verliezen.....

Terecht merkt Shahtahmasebi op dat de Trump administratie vorig jaar Rusland en China (plus Iran en Noord-Korea) heeft aangewezen als de grootste vijanden van de VS, dus niet IS, Al Qaida of noem nog wat van deze terreurgroepen (in het westen vaak aangeduid als 'gematigde rebellen'....... ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!).... Met de nu nog woordelijke aanvallen op Iran, maakt de Trump-administratie (en Israël) Rusland duidelijk dat het Iran moet laten vallen en gezien het niet leveren aan Syrië van het nieuwste Russische raketafweersysteem, lijkt die opzet van Trump geslaagd........

Eén ding heeft de Trump administratie ten overvloede nog eens bewezen: met de VS gemaakte afspraken kunnen op elk moment door de VS als van nul en generlei waarde worden vernietigd, ofwel de VS is totaal onbetrouwbaar..... Vandaar ook dat een land als Noord-Korea kernwapens wilde bouwen..... Benieuwd wat Kim Jong-un denkt over de schandalige VS manier van handelen t.a.v. de Iran-deal en wat dit betekent voor de besprekingen tussen Noord-Korea en de ontmoeting die hij zal hebben met Trump........

The Real Reason Trump Abandoned the Iran Nuclear Deal

(ANTIMEDIA Op-ed) — Donald Trump doesn’t hate the Iran deal because it is a bad deal. He hates it because it is by all accounts a decent deal that has actually been working.

If you doubt this statement, ask yourself: What sensible argument has Trump ever offered to support his opposition to the deal? Sure, he has used his ever-expanding and descriptive vocabulary to call it some grandiose names, but he hasn’t actually explained what is wrong with it.

If the deal is so bad, why would he even want to bother pursuing a deal with North Korea? What deal could he possibly make that wouldn’t involve an arrangement similar to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)? (We will turn to this point in a moment).

As Vox explained last year:

“Trump doesn’t hate the Iran deal for policy reasons. He’s never offered a detailed public policy case against it, and experts don’t really believe he has one. ‘I don’t think anyone actually thinks he knows anything about the particularities of this agreement,’ says Sarah Kreps, a professor at Cornell University who studies arms control agreements.”

So what could he possibly hate about the Iran deal? If he does have sound reasons, why has he never presented them? What can he possibly hope to achieve with North Korea after proving to the entire world that the U.S. can renege on its word at any given time?

The blunt truth about the Iran deal is that Donald Trump rejects it because it has been working. His own administration has been forced to consistently certify Iran as compliant with the terms. The neocon dream for people like Trump and the warmongers who advise him is to prevent the U.S. from being the unilateral cause of the destruction of the deal (as it transpired, the U.S. was one hundred percent responsible for its demise). Rather, the strategy appears to be to devise a deal so impossible for Iran to accept that Iran will, in the eyes of the international community, become the dangerous and untrustworthy party in major need of a military intervention, as the U.S. has long painted the situation.

As outlined in the neoconservative guide to destroying Iran, titled, “Which Path to Persia? Options for a New American Strategy toward Iran”:

“For those who favor regime change or a military attack on Iran (either by the United States or Israel), there is a strong argument to be made for trying this option first. Inciting regime change in Iran would be greatly assisted by convincing the Iranian people that their government is so ideologically blinkered that it refuses to do what is best for the people and instead clings to a policy that could only bring ruin on the country. The ideal scenario in this case would be that the United States and the international community present a package of positive inducements so enticing that the Iranian citizenry would support the deal, only to have the regime reject it. In a similar vein, any military operation against Iran will likely be very unpopular around the world and require the proper international context – both to ensure the logistical support the operation would require and to minimize the blowback from it. The best way to minimize international opprobrium and maximize support (however grudging or covert) is to strike only when there is a widespread conviction that the Iranians were given but then rejected a superb offer – one so good that only a regime determined to acquire nuclear weapons and acquire them for the wrong reasons would turn it down.” [emphasis added]

You see, the Iranian nuclear deal in its current form doesn’t include a major source of tension between Iran and the U.S., namely, Iranian ballistic missile testing. Trump wants to include this as part of the agreement. Why would he want to do that? For exactly the reason above: to give Iran such an inconceivable agreement that even if Iran decided to sign it in good faith, the Islamic Republic could never realistically implement as it would lose one of its major deterrents against a U.S. or Israeli strike.

And this is where the upcoming summit between Trump and Kim Jong Un becomes that much more important. Trump is purportedly trying to send a strong message to North Korea that he wants a ‘real deal.’ So what is a ‘real deal’ in Trump’s eyes if the JCPOA didn’t cut it for him?

A ‘real deal’ is one North Korea cannot realistically abide by. Even if they could, the terms of the agreement would put the country in such a defenseless position that the U.S. could easily formulate an invasion without any significant repercussions.

Further, we have to remember that the ultimate goal of the Washington D.C. establishment is regime change in both Iran and North Korea, two countries with abundant resources that are far too close to America’s chief rivals, China and Russia. Remember that the Trump administration’s National Defense Strategy listed China and Russia as the top threats to the United States, not ISIS or al-Qaeda or any of the entities the U.S. is supposedly at war with.

Either way, the U.S. is not entering either of these agreements in good faith and has only one agenda throughout this entire process. If you don’t believe this, you need only turn to the op-eds written by newly appointed national security advisor John Bolton, who has openly advocated for violent regime change strategies in both North Korea and Iran.

A deal that Iran or North Korea complies with while getting on with their lives and rebuilding their countries’ respective economies without succumbing to the United States’ interests is a deal-breaker for Washington. As Executive Board Member of the National Iranian American Council (NIAC), Saïd Amin told Anti-Media via email, “Kim Jong-un would be a fool to believe any promises made by the Trump administration.”

John Bolton heeft beloofd dat Iran voor 2019 onder een ander regime zal leven.......

Met de benoemingen van John Bolton, een gewetenloze psychopaat en zijn collega psychopaat Pompeo, kan je gerust stellen dat Trump een oorlogskabinet heeft gevormd, zo betoogt Robert Mackey terecht. Op 23 maart jl. publiceerde hij een artikel op The Intercept, over de benoeming van Bolton.

Hierin vertelt Mackey o.a. dat Bolton aan gevluchte Iraniërs in de VS heeft beloofd dat voor 2019 Iran een andere regime zal hebben (een door de VS gewenst regime, zoals je begrijpt....) en hij dan feest komt vieren in Teheran........ 

Naast psychopaat is deze misdadiger ook nog eens ongelofelijk dom immers in Irak is er nog steeds geen vrede, ondanks de meer dan achterlijke vaststelling van zijne domme hufterigheid en oorlogsmisdadiger Bush dat de 'mission accomplished' was, is het in feite nog steeds oorlog in Irak, een oorlog die intussen aan dik meer dan 1,5 miljoen mensen het leven heeft gekost..........

Hoe denkt topidioot Bolton dan Iran in een jaar tijd te kunnen verslaan? Iran heeft een uitermate goed getraind leger, dit i.t.t. tot het leger dat Saddam Hoessein in Irak ter beschikking stond..... Kernraketten gebruiken tegen Iran staat zo te horen niet op de verlanglijst van Bolton, daar hij zelf feest wil vieren in Teheran, al zal het me niet verbazen als Bolton denkt dat een zwaar radioactief besmet gebied binnen een paar maanden 'schoon waait'. Voorts zijn er nog de nieuwe tactische kernwapens van de VS, kernwapens die op het slagveld gebruikt moeten gaan worden en daar alleen 'een beperkt gebied' zwaar radioactief besmet zouden maken........ 

Dan is er nog de vraag wat Rusland en China zullen doen, als de VS een oorlog tegen Iran begint (met de kans dat de VS ook een tweede front opent op Noord-Korea), gezien de troepenopbouw her en der.......

Here’s John Bolton Promising Regime Change in Iran by the End of 2018

AMONG THOSE MOST alarmed by President Donald Trump’s selection of John Bolton as his new national security adviser on Thursday were supporters of the Iran nuclear deal, the 2015 international agreement that curbed Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for a partial lifting of economic sanctions.

Rob Malley, who coordinated Middle East policy in the Obama administration, observed that Bolton’s appointment, along with the nomination of Iran deal critic Mike Pompeo as secretary of state, seemed to signal that the agreement would most likely be “dead and buried” within months. Trita Parsi, leader of the National Iranian American Council wrote on Twitter: “People, let this be very clear: The appointment of Bolton is essentially a declaration of war with Iran. With Pompeo and Bolton, Trump is assembling a WAR CABINET.”

Their alarm was understandable. Bolton, who made his name as a belligerent member of George W. Bush’s State Department and a Fox News contributor, has not only demanded that the Trump administration withdraw from the nuclear deal, he also previously advocated bombing Iran instead. Bolton has spent the better part of a decade calling for the United States to help overthrow the theocratic government in Tehran and hand power to a cult-like group of Iranian exiles with no real support inside the country.

Just eight months ago, at a Paris gathering, Bolton told members of the Iranian exile group, known as the Mujahedeen Khalq, MEK, or People’s Mujahedeen, that the Trump administration should embrace their goal of immediate regime change in Iran and recognize their group as a “viable” alternative.

“The outcome of the president’s policy review should be to determine that the Ayatollah Khomeini’s 1979 revolution will not last until its 40th birthday,” Bolton said. (The 40th anniversary of the Iranian revolution will be on February 11, 2019.) “The declared policy of the United States should be the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime in Tehran,” Bolton added. “The behavior and the objectives of the regime are not going to change and, therefore, the only solution is to change the regime itself.”

As the Iranian expatriate journalist Bahman Kalbasi noted, Bolton concluded his address to the exiles with a rousing promise: “And that’s why, before 2019, we here will celebrate in Tehran!”

To understand how extraordinary it is that the man about to become the president’s most senior national security official made this promise to the MEK, it is important to know that, until recently, the Iranian dissidents had spent three decades trying to achieve their aims through violence, including terrorist attacks.

After members of the MEK helped foment the 1979 revolution, in part by killing American civilians working in Tehran, the group then lost a bitter struggle for power to the Islamists led by the revolution’s leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. With its leadership forced to flee Iran in 1981, the MEK’s members set up a government-in-exile in France and established a military base in Iraq, where they were given arms and training by Saddam Hussein, as part of a strategy to destabilize the government in Tehran that he was at war with.

In recent years, as The Intercept has reported, the MEK has poured millions of dollars into reinventing itself as a moderate political group ready to take power in Iran if Western-backed regime change ever takes place. To that end, it lobbied successfully to be removed from the State Department’s list of foreign terrorist organizations in 2012. The Iranian exiles achieved this over the apparent opposition of then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in part by paying a long list of former U.S. officials hefty speaking fees of between $10,000 to $50,000 for hymns of praise like the one Bolton delivered last July.

But, according to Ariane Tabatabai, a Georgetown University scholar, the “cult-like dissident group” — whose married members were reportedly forced to divorce and take a vow of lifelong celibacy — “has no viable chance of seizing power in Iran.”

If the current government is not Iranians’ first choice for a government, the MEK is not even their last — and for good reason. The MEK supported Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq War. The people’s discontent with the Iranian government at that time did not translate into their supporting an external enemy that was firing Scuds into Tehran, using chemical weapons and killing hundreds of thousands of Iranians, including many civilians. Today, the MEK is viewed negatively by most Iranians, who would prefer to maintain the status quo than rush to the arms of what they consider a corrupt, criminal cult.

Despite such doubts that the MEK’s political wing, the National Council of Resistance of Iran, is any more reliable than Ahmad Chalabi’s Iraqi National Congress proved to be, spending lavishly on paid endorsements has earned the group a bipartisan roster of Washington politicians willing to sign up as supporters. At a previous gala, in 2016, Bolton was joined in singing the group’s praises by another former U.N. ambassador, Bill Richardson; a former attorney general, Michael Mukasey; the former State Department spokesperson P.J. Crowley; the former Homeland Security adviser Frances Townsend; the former Rep. Patrick Kennedy, D-R.I.; and the former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean. That Paris gala was hosted by Linda Chavez, a former Reagan administration official.

At a similar event this January, the backdrop behind former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, as he praised MEK leader Maryam Rajavi, made the aim of the group’s investment in American politicians clear.

Although the official announcement from the White House was not made until Thursday, Giuliani told the group, to loud applause, that Bolton “is going to be President Trump’s national security adviser.”

In case there was any doubt among the exiles that Bolton might not advise Trump to overthrow Iran’s government, Giuliani assured them that “if anything, John Bolton has become more determined that there needs to be regime change in Iran, that the nuclear agreement needs to be burned, and that you need to be in charge of that country.”

Moments later, Giuliani led the crowd in chanting “regime change.”

Despite the fact that Trump ran for office as a critic of the decision to invade Iraq, Bolton still refuses to call the preemptive attack a mistake.

That position stunned even Fox News’s Tucker Carlson, during an interview two weeks ago. After Carlson pointed out that Bolton had called for regime change in Iraq, Libya, Iran, and Syria, and the first of those had been “a disaster,” Bolton disagreed, saying, “I think your analysis is simple-minded, frankly.”

“I think the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, that military action, was a resounding success,” Bolton told Carlson. The chaos that followed in Iraq, he said, was caused by a poorly executed occupation that ended too soon. On the bright side, Bolton said, the mistakes the U.S. made in Iraq offered “lessons about what to do after a regime is overthrown” in the future.
