De UNHRC concludeert dat Israël met opzet kinderen en journalisten vermoordde over de grens met de Gazastrook

De Mensenrechtenraad van de Verenigde Naties (UNHRC) geeft in een rapport aan dat Israël met opzet kinderen en journalisten heeft vermoord en dat is al een fiks aantal keren uitgemond in massamoord........

De Raad kan niet anders concluderen dan Israël doet dit met opzet en heeft aangekondigd een officieel onderzoek in te stellen naar die massamoorden.

Uiteraard reageert de Israëlische regering weer met de gebruikelijke gespeelde verontwaardiging, immers als kenners van de holocaust moeten zij weten dat haar leger niet anders doet dan een volk vervolgen op basis van het tot een bepaalde gemeenschap behoren..... Het was ten tijde van de holocaust niet anders: Joden, Roma, Sinti, homo's en politieke tegenstanders werden vervolgd en zoveel mogelijk massaal vermoord, waar Israël heden ten dage de Palestijnen vervolgt en hen massaal vermoordt, waar deze Palestijnse mensen voor de overgrote meerderheid ongewapend zijn.....

Voorts een beetje vreemd rapport, daar men spreekt over 154 Palestijnen van de 183 mensen die ongewapend waren..... De enige andere Palestijnen hadden dan blijkbaar wel wapens, terwijl die bestonden uit katapulten en stenen...... Ik weet niet hou jij erover denkt, maar een uzi of M16 vergelijken met stenen, een katapult, of slinger, is m.i. geen vergelijking.....

Jammer dat de UNHRC niet rept over moord op de Canadees/Palestijnse arts en de medische hulpverleners, die duidelijk zichtbaar hun werk deden in het bijstaan van gewonde demonstranten, ondanks dat feit werden ze 'gewoon' doodgeschoten door het psychopathisch, moorddadig geteisem van het Israëlische leger........

In het laatste artikel suggereren VN onderzoekers dat de massamoorden aan de grens met de Gazastrook, de massamoord op Palestijnen, mensen die ten einde raad zijn en die terecht al sinds maart vorig jaar, elke vrijdag voor de grens met Israël protesteren tegen hun benarde positie: leven in een openluchtgevangenis, waar Israël te onpas en te onpas massamoorden uitvoert....... Het Palestijnse protest wordt uitgevoerd onder de noemer: The great Return March. 

Deze massamoorden op ongewapende Palestijnse demonstranten vinden plaats 'op grondgebied van de Palestijnen'*, ofwel de psychopathische Israëlische moordenaars schoten over de grens met de Gazastrook heen....... Zonder twijfel zijn deze moorden oorlogsmisdaden...... Beste bezoeker, ik zal niet lachen, daar dit totaal ongepast zou zijn bij dit onderwerp, maar het is toch wel te gek als je nog twijfelt of het oordeel 'oorlogsmisdaden' wel gepast is, terwijl Israël al vanaf haar illegale stichting oorlog voert tegen de Palestijnen, die allesbehalve dezelfde slagkracht hebben als het moderne Israëlische leger, integendeel.......

Gelukkig stellen die onderzoekers wel dat het of oorlogsmisdaden zijn, dan wel misdaden tegen de menselijkheid (m.i. nog een graad erger).

Hoe is het gvd mogelijk dat de westerse wereld op haar kop staat over de leugens aangaande de situatie in Venezuela, terwijl wekelijkse (feitelijke) massamoorden door Israël gepleegd en waarbij zoals gezegd veel kinderen werden en worden vermoord, niet eens een wenkbrauw doen fronsen bij diezelfde westerse wereld........ Hetzelfde geldt overigens voor Jemen, waar de Saoedische terreurcoalitie met hulp van nota bene de VS en GB een genocide uitvoert, waarbij naar zeggen intussen al een half miljoen mensen is vermoord.........

(ANTIWAR.COM) — Israel is furious at the UN Human Rights Council most of the time, but they are particularly furious whenever the body offers a report, as Israel tends to violate a lot of human rights. In this case, the council has announced an “independent inquiry” into the protests at the Gaza border.

Every Friday, for months now, Palestinian protesters have rallied near the Gaza border to protest the Israeli blockade. Every Friday, Israel shoots a large number of people. The investigation ruled that there are “reasonable grounds” to believe Israel violated international law.

The report noted that 154 out of 183 people killed by Israel in that time were entirely unarmed. They noted Israel had repeatedly, deliberately shot children and journalists, as well as disabled protesters. International law, needless to say, frowns upon those sorts of deliberate killings.

Israeli officials reacted with typical fury, it is noteworthy that they didn’t deny any of the content of the report. Instead, Acting Foreign Minister Katz argued Israel has a “right of self-defense and the obligation to defend its citizens and borders.” In essence, he is arguing that Israel had an obligation to shoot those unarmed children.

UN Says Israeli Forces ‘May Have’ Committed War Crimes at Gaza Border

(MEE) – The killing of hundreds of Palestinian protesters at the Gaza border in the last year might be categorized as war crimes, UN investigators have suggested.

More than 250 Palestinians were killed and 26,000 injured since weekly “Great March of Return” protests began in March 2018.

The new report said that the killing of largely unarmed protesters “may constitute war crimes or crimes against humanity”.

“The Israeli security forces killed and maimed Palestinian demonstrators who did not pose an imminent threat of death or serious injury to others when they were shot, nor were they directly participating in hostilities,” the panel report said.

The panel had confidential information about those believed to be responsible for the killings, including snipers and commanders, which was being given to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet for her to share with the International Criminal Court (ICC), it said.

Mustafa Abu Assi, a 29-year-old engineer living in Gaza, welcomed the report on Thursday, saying he “totally agreed” with the UN’s assessment.

“I think that what we faced in Palestine exceeds war crimes,” Abu Assi told Middle East Eye by email.

Raghad Fadel, a 22-year-old who is currently unemployed, said after growing accustomed to being treated by the world as “nothing more than numbers and collateral damage”, the report offered her some hope.

“We get killed every day for simply asking for our right to take back what was stolen from our grandparents,” said Fadel, also by email.

“To finally see that the Israeli forces will be held accountable for part of their crimes, it gives me some hope that there is a fair world out there and one day, we will be free.”

Adalah, a legal group for Israel’s Palestinian minority, said the report was a “scathing indictment of the Israeli government on all fronts”.

War on Want, an NGO based in London, welcomed the UN report and urged the British government to stop selling arms to Israel.

“The UK government has continued to trade in arms with Israel, providing material support to a state which uses military force brutally and unlawfully against an occupied people, despite major concerns from human rights groups, the UN, and the International criminal courts,” Ryvka Barnard, War on Want senior campaigner.

“The UK government has an obligation to act. It must not continue trading arms with a state found to be committing war crimes that are both historic and ongoing.”

Protests have been held at the frontier between Israel and the Gaza Strip since last year, calling for the easing of an Israeli blockade of the territory and recognition of the right of Palestinian refugees there to return to homes in Israel.

Israel has said its forces opened fire to protect the frontier from incursions and attacks by armed militants.

Two Israeli soldiers have been killed over the same period, one by a Palestinian sniper and another during a botched Israeli special forces operation within the Gaza Strip.

Israel maintains a crippling blockade of Gaza which critics say amounts to collective punishment of the impoverished enclave’s two million residents.

Egypt also upholds the siege, restricting movement in and out of Gaza on its border.

Gaza – Palestine’s Great Return March protests at the Gaza border, which commenced with the commemoration of Land Day on March 30 and are set to continue until the Nakba anniversary on May 15, have propelled Israel’s penchant for killing Palestinians to the fore. So far, 45 Palestinians have been killed by snipers and over 7,200 injured while demonstrating at the border for their right to return as enshrined in UN Resolution 194.

As the launch of the protests drew near, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that over 100 snipers would be placed at Gaza’s border. The rhetoric used was an attempt to distort the Return March, which is about rights, into a security concern for Israel, and thus legitimize, according to Israeli parameters, the killing of unarmed Palestinians.

Framed against the Great Return March protests at the Gaza border, Israel’s Minister of Transport, Road Safety and Intelligence, Israel Katz, warned that targeted killings of Hamas leaders would be renewed if attacks are launched against army commanders at the border.

No soldiers were harmed at the border. Rather than an empty threat, Katz’s statement reads as a veiled indication of premeditated aggression.

A day later, on Saturday April 21, 35-year-old Palestinian scientist and Hamas member Fadi Mohammed al-Batsh* was gunned down by two assassins in the vicinity of his home while on his way to dawn prayers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Whether the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad was behind the targeted assassination was neither confirmed nor denied by Israel.

Last week, Haaretz reported that the assassins entered Malaysia by using fake Serbia and Montenegro passports. It is also speculated that both assassins absconded to Thailand.

In response to al-Batsh’s assassination, Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman attempted to downplay Mossad’s role, stating:

There’s a tradition at this point among terrorist organizations of blaming Israel for every settling of accounts.”

Israeli media, however, promoted the narrative of the colonial state’s policy of targeted assassinations and indicated the possible involvement of Mossad, linking al-Batsh’s assassination to his scientific research by citing a co-authored paper titled “Challenges of Integrating Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in Civil Application”. Five days after the assassination, the Jerusalem Post ran an article titled “The Mossad’s Greatest Hits: From Eichmann to al-Batsh.” About al-Batsh, the article stated that the modus operandi “may fit into the Tunisia operation pattern of assassinations of weapons engineers who are threats to Israel and without leaving a trace.”

The reference to Tunisia concerned the assassination of aeronautical engineer Muhammad al-Zawari, who was killed in Sfax in December 2016 outside his home. According to Hamas, Al-Zawari was part of the resistance movement  and specialized in drone development. A report by Al Jazeera had also stated that al-Zawari had developed the drones used by Hamas in 2014 during Israel’s Operation Protective Edge.

In al-Zawari’s case, the identified suspects are of Bosnian nationality. During a press conference organized by Hamas in Beirut, the movement claimed the targeted assassination was the work of “Mossad agents carrying Bosnian passports.” Tunisia is reported to be in discussions with Bosnia to extradite the suspect, who was arrested in Croatia in March 2018. The suspect is currently detained under extradition custody in Croatia, and Bosnia is seeking to impede his extradition.

A recently published book by Ronen Bergman, titled Rise and Kill First: the secret history of Israel’s targeted assassinations, reveals that over 2,700 operations carried out by Israel since its inception have been classified as targeted assassinations. 

An ambiguous ruling by Israel’s High Court

In December 2005, Israel’s High Court upheld the “right” of the state to resort to targeted assassinations, in response to a petition submitted in 2002 by the Public Committee against Torture in Israel and the Palestinian Society for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment, which argued that the practice was illegal and violated international law. The petition was submitted within the context of the Second Intifada, when Israel embarked upon a series of targeted assassinations of Hamas leaders.

The concluding remarks of the court judgment ensured that Israel was allowed to speculate and given the freedom to determine whether or not a targeted assassination would be permissible:

It is decided that it cannot be determined in advance that every targeted killing is prohibited according to customary international law, just as it cannot be determined in advance that every targeted killing is permissible according to customary international law.”

Israel enjoys further impunity in this regard based on the fact that there is no standard definition of targeted assassinations in international law. 

A history of targeted assassinations

Many targeted assassinations of Palestinian leaders have been attributed to Mossad. On July 8, 1972, Mossad assassinated Ghassan Kanafani, a Palestinian writer and political leader from the Popular Front of the Liberation of Palestine, by a car bomb in Beirut. His 17-year-old niece, Lamis, also died in the explosion.

Mossad is also said to be behind several assassinations of Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) members. In what was dubbed as “Operation Spring of Youth” in 1973 in Beirut, Mossad raided the flats of three PLO members — Muhammad Yousef al-Najjar, Kamal Adwan and Kamal Nasser — and gunned them down. Adwan’s head was severed from the body as a result of around 60 bullets fired into his neck.

On October 26, 1995, Islamic Jihad founder Fathi Shqaqi was killed by two assailants in front of the Diplomat Hotel in Sliema, Malta. Shqaqi was shot five times at point blank range.

In 1997, Mossad poisoned former Hamas leader Khaled Mesha’al in Jordan. A diplomatic intervention by King Hussein saved his life as Mossad turned over the antidote.

Since the Second Intifada, Israel’s targeted assassinations of Palestinian leaders have shifted towards Hamas. Salah Shehadeh, leader of Al-Qassam Brigades, was killed on July 23, 2002 in Gaza City, when the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) dropped a one-ton bomb onto his house. Fifteen people were killed in the attack.

Sheikh Ahmed Yassin was murdered upon exiting a mosque on March 22, 2004. Missiles were fired from an Apache helicopter, killing him and seven other bystanders.

Mossad is also said to have been behind the assassination of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, one of the founders of al-Qassam Brigades, on January 20, 2010, in Dubai. Tests on blood samples confirmed he was electrocuted.

On November 14, 2012, Ahmed Jabari, second in command of Hamas’s military wing, was killed by a drone strike on his car in Omar Mukhtar Street.

Changing history by scarring society

In an interview with the Times of Israel, Bergman states:

I want to say, that from the very beginning of the state, Israeli leaders thought that secret operations and assassinations far beyond enemy lines were a useful tool to change history, or to do something to reality, without resorting to all-out war.”

The statement is revelatory on several grounds. Apart from indicating Mossad’s worldwide operations, it also closes in on two main issues which are central to the current context of Israel’s resorting to targeted assassinations. The targeting of individuals who, if allowed to work in anti-colonial struggle, can embark upon building a resistance movement that goes beyond mere resilience, should dispel mainstream depiction of Israel’s aggression on Gaza as “war”. By Israel’s admission and actions, there is no war, but rather a premeditated action against a population by targeting individuals who can contribute to Palestinian security and, as a result, capacity to further their cause and their rights.

Second, changing history and reality, as stated by Bergman, can also be applied to the Gaza context. It is not only the fact that Israel is choosing strategy over diplomacy, as Bergman says within the context of his research. Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza are actively involved in resistance. However, the periodical Israeli assaults upon Gaza, and Hamas’ attempts to defend the enclave, have propelled the movement’s visibility when it comes to armed struggle. The movement also prioritizes education as a revolutionary goal. During Operation Protective Edge in 2014, Israel directly targeted higher educational facilities, prompting UNESCO to release a report documenting the damage done to infrastructure — 14 educational facilities were significantly damaged. In addition, 421 students were murdered during the operation, making up 27.4 percent of Gaza’s death toll.

Eliminating possibilities of Palestinian resistance

To eliminate Palestinian resistance, Israel has made it a point to target segments of Palestinian society, or individuals, that have potential to develop continuous anti-colonial struggle. It is a strategic decision for Israel to focus on the link between education and resistance — hence the high number of students murdered during Operation Protective Edge, the Palestinian youths murdered by snipers at the Great Return March, and the targeted assassination of Palestinian intellectuals and scientists who have the potential to lead a structured and continuous resistance.

Al-Batsh’s assassination can be seen as merely another strike against Hamas — the latest in a series of targeted killings that seek to weaken the movement’s capacity to develop its own potential for defense in its limited circumstances.

Yet it is the limited circumstances that should provoke further insight into al-Batsh’s assassination. Since 2014, Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas has not ceased calling for Hamas to hand over complete control of Gaza, including relinquishing armed resistance. As this appeal was refused repeatedly by Hamas, Abbas retaliated through sanctions and withholding of financial assistance, piling further hardships upon the entire enclave that is still reeling from the damage and displacement as a result of Operation Protective Edge.

There is no option for Palestinians other than resistance to the collaborative efforts by Israel and the Palestinian Authority to push Gaza into an irreversible deterioration. Al-Batsh’s assassination is part of the former’s plan to reduce the possibilities of resistance for Palestinians. For Abbas, who has ridiculed resistance even when Palestinians were being massacred in 2014, the loss of al-Batsh might trigger other attempts at fostering political disunity among Palestinians. Apart from the political isolation enforced upon Gaza, it is the lack of opportunity to develop its military capabilities further that has derailed resistance. It is clear that Israel will not take any chances of permitting Hamas to alter the current implosion. Its view is that, for Israel to survive, Palestine’s possibilities must be wiped out, whether the means used are targeted assassinations, sniper fire, or precision targeting of a civilian population.

Israël erkent een terreurstaat te zijn: in 2007 bombardeerde Israël een in aanbouw zijnde kerncentrale in Syrië en geeft het eindelijk toe.......

Een ongelofelijk staaltje arrogantie: de fascistische regering van Israël geeft toe een in aanbouw zijnde kerncentrale in Syrië te hebben gebombardeerd in 2007...... Ofwel: Israël heeft er lak aan als terreurstaat bekend te staan, een andere conclusie is niet te trekken, al zal je dit nooit uit de vuilbekken van de Israëlische top horen....... Generaal Eisenkot maakte e.e.a. bekend en voegde daar aan toe dat Israël de bouw van dergelijke constructies ook in de toekomst niet zal toestaan..... Aangezien Iran van deze 'constructies' heeft, valt het ergste te vrezen voor Iran, zeker gezien de oorlogstaal die Israël continu gebruikt t.a.v. dit land........

Iedereen wist trouwens al dat Israël deze centrale bombardeerde, alleen gaf Israël dit nooit toe..... Een zoveelste daad van grootschalige terreur, begaan in de onafzienbare rij van terreurdaden begaan door deze zionistisch-fascistische apartheidsstaat.....

Het is overigens maar de vraag of Israël echt een kerncentrale bombardeerde, daar Syrië dit nooit heeft toegegeven en Israël welhaast altijd liegt over de redenen voor het uitoefenen van grootschalige terreur, zoals de laatste paar jaar bij de 100+ bombardementen op Syrische doelen....... 

Lieberman de psychopathische minister van defensie in Israël nam de gebeurtenis waar door te stellen, dat de slagkracht van de Israëlische luchtmacht exponentieel is toegenomen sinds 2007, het jaar waarin dit land de Syrische 'kerncentrale' bombardeerde...... Met andere woorden: wat we toen 'presteerden', kunnen we nu 10 keer beter.....

Een andere ploert van het terreurkabinet onder de corrupte opperschoft Netanyahu, Katz voegde daar ten overvloede nog eens aan toe dat Israël nooit een ander land in de buurt van Israël zal toestaan een kernwapen te ontwikkelen..... Terwijl Israël NB zelf een kernmacht is, die nooit het verdrag tegen de verspreiding van kernwapens tekende...... Bovendien als er in de regio één agressief land is, is het Israël wel.....

Nu vergis je je Azijnpisser, Saoedi-Arabië kan er ook wat van, sterker nog die gaat nog een slag verder met de genocide die het uitvoert op de sjiieten in Jemen...... Opvallend dat dit land blijkbaar wel kerncentrales mag hebben van Israël, daar Saoedi-Arabië er 2 in aanbouw heeft, 2 van de 16 die het uiteindelijk wil bouwen.....

Israël moet wel heel zeker zijn van de stabiliteit in Saoedi-Arabië en de toekomstige trouw van het leger aan deze reli-fascistische dictatuur...... Israël onderhoudt dan ook goede banden met S-A, op zich al een zaak die de moeite waard is voor jihadstrijders om zich tegen het bewind in Riyad te keren........

Nogmaals: hoe lang laat de wereld terreurstaat Israël begaan met haar ongebreidelde terreur, voordat men minstens het Internationaal Strafhof zal opdragen een aanklacht tegen Israël op te stellen........

Israel Finally Admits to Bombing Syrian Nuclear Reactor, Warns Iran Could Be Next

(CD) — Israel on Wednesday admitted it bombed a suspected Syrian nuclear facility 11 years ago, and Israeli officials used the confirmation to boast about their country’s military might and again threaten Iran.

“The message from the 2007 attack on the reactor is that Israel will not tolerate construction that can pose an existential threat,” military chief Lt. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot said in a statement. “This was the message in 1981 [when Israel bombed a nuclear plant in Baghdad,], this is the message in 2007, and this is the future message to our enemies.”

The overnight operation dubbed “Outside the Box” took place from Sept. 5-6, 2007, when F16s and F15s carried out the airstrikes against what the U.S. and Israel say was a reactor built with help from North Korea.

Israel—a nuclear-armed power but not a signatory of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)—argues that the facility in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor region was “in its last stages of construction.” Syria, which is a party to the treaty, has denied it was building a reactor.

As with its United Nations Security Council-condemned strike on the Iraqi facility, Israel argued that purpose of the Syrian facility was to produce a bomb.

According to James Jeffrey, George W. Bush’s deputy national security adviser, the U.S. president backed the attack at the time.

“(He) made it clear that we were very happy that events had eliminated this threat and that if there were any threats to Israel that would emerge from this situation, the United States would stand with Israel, period,” Jeffrey said Wednesday.

Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Wednesday used the admission to threaten the entire region.

“The motivation of our enemies increased in recent years, but so did the strength of the IDF. Air Force and intelligence capabilities intensified and expanded [vastly] from the capabilities we had in 2007,” Liberman said. “Everyone in the Middle East would do well to internalize this equation.”

Another minister, Israel Katz, also tweeted out a not-so-veiled threat: “The courageous decision of the Israeli government almost 11 years ago to destroy the nuclear reactor in Syria and the successful operation following it sends a clear message: Israel will never allow nuclear weapons to countries like Iran who threaten its existence.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has continues to argue without proof that Iran is on its way to producing nuclear bombs, said: “The Government of Israel, the IDF, and the Mossad prevented Syria from developing a nuclear capability. For this they are deserving of all praise. Israel’s policy has been and remains consistent—to prevent our enemies from arming themselves with nuclear weapons.”
