MI5 en MI6 blij met Coronavirus om blunders bij bomaanslag te camoufleren

De Britse geheime diensten zijn blij met het Coronavirus, zo kon men de enorme blunders verbergen die tot de bomaanslag in de Manchester Arena hebben geleid.... De verantwoordelijke terreurgroep Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) is een aantal jaren gesteund door de Britse geheieme dienst, daar deze terreurgroep Khadaffi omver wilde werpen...... Na een mislukte aanslag vluchtten een aantal LIFG leden naar Groot-Brittannië waar ze asiel kregen...... De leden werd geen strobreed in de weg gelegd als zij naar het buitenland afreisden en uiteraard als ze terugkeerden....

Overigens blijkt uit gelekte documenten van MI6 dat deze dienst al in 1996 vergevorderde plannen had om Khadaffi, de voormalige president van Libië, middels een staatsgreep af te zetten..... Khadaffi dezelfde man die van Libie het rijkste land van Afrika maakte, waar studie en scholing (voor jongens en meisjes), huisvesting, gezondheidszorg en energie praktisch gratis waren...... Na ingrijpen van de VS en haar NAVO-partners beleef een land achter dat in puin lag en dat nu tot de armste landen van Afrika behoort, een land waar chaos en terreur heersen (met toestemming van het western) en waar zelfs openlijk slavenmarkten worden gehouden..... Ofwel: het zoveelste waanzinnige 'succes' van grootschalige westerse terreur!!!

De bomaanslag in Manchester was een grote misser van de geheime diensten MI5 en MI6, zoals die er al een fiks aantal op hun conto hebben, terwijl deze diensten (ook andere geheime diensten zoals 'onze' AIVD en MIVD) na elke 'islamitische aanslag' meer geld en bevoegdheden eisen en dat meestal krijgen, i.p.v. deze diensten eens tegen het licht te houden om de efficiëntie te onderzoeken......

Na elke aanslag in EU lidstaten, maar ook in de VS, blijkt dat geheime diensten deze hadden kunnen voorkomen, was men meer alert geweest en men bepaalde figuren beter in de gaten had gehouden......

Terzijde: opvallend dat de Nederlandse geheime diensten al in 2016 hebben gewaarschuwd voor een tekort aan IC bedden en beademingsapparatuur mocht er een pandemie uitbreken, iets waar Rutte 2 noch Rutte 3 iets mee hebben gedaan. Echter als het gaat om aanslagen laten ook 'onze geheime diensten' (zoals gezegd) het afweten in het voorkomen daarvan......

On 17 March 2020, Hashem Abedi was convicted of the murder of 22 people at the Manchester Arena. They died as a result of a bombing carried out by his brother, Salman Abedi, who died at the scene. Hashem Abedi was found guilty of aiding his brother in this heinous act, which also saw 237 people injured.

Following the trial, the corporate media rightly focused on the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. Perhaps this explained why there was little mention in the press of how MI5 failed to monitor Libyan jihadists properly in the part of Manchester where the Abedis lived; or of how MI6 may have helped radicalise the jihadist group that the Abedi brothers, via their father, were linked to. 

‘Blowback’

Journalists Mark Curtis and Nafeez Ahmed previously argued that the Manchester bombing was “blowback” for UK foreign policy and intelligence operations in Libya, saying:

While a number of factors operate to contribute to an individual’s radicalisation, it is difficult to avoid the conclusion that one of these contributory factors is British direct and covert action in Iraq, Libya and Syria. Without these actions – by Britain and its close allies – it is conceivable that [Salman] Abedi might well not have had the opportunity to become radicalised in the way he did.

MI6 was responsible for covert action in Libya. Monitoring of exiled Libyans in Britain was down to MI5. 

MI5 and the LIFG

In the wake of terror attacks in London and Manchester, a former senior policy adviser to David Cameron commented on how Theresa May should accept responsibility, tweeting:

Indeed, under May’s watch there was an apparent catalogue of failures by both MI5 and the police to follow through on warnings and intelligence.
As RT previously reported:

An official report into the attack, conducted by David Anderson QC, noted that: “On two separate occasions in the months prior to the attack, intelligence was received by MI5 whose significance was not fully appreciated at the time. It was assessed at the time not to be [related to] terrorism but to possible non-nefarious activity or to criminality on the part of Salman Abedi.

“In retrospect, the intelligence can be seen to have been highly relevant to the planned attack.”

In particular, it was under May that MI5 reportedly conducted an ‘open door’ policy for the Manchester-based LIFG (Libyan Islamic Fighting Group). One LIFG fighter told Middle East Eye that MI5 had inspected but returned their passports and that counter-terrorism police at Heathrow Airport were told to let them board their flights. As for Salman Abedi, Middle East Eye reported that:

after his father returned to Libya in 2011 to fight for LIFG, Abedi reportedly travelled back and forth between his home and Manchester and Tripoli, and fought alongside his father during the school holidays.

MI6 and regime change

As the Guardian reported, many LIFG members had escaped Libya and arrived in the UK after a plot to assassinate Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi failed:

When that plot – which some claim was backed by MI6 – failed, the LIFG was pursued by Gaddafi’s security forces. A large number fled to the UK, where they were granted asylum on the grounds that as opponents of Gaddafi “our enemy’s enemy is our friend”, and many went to Birmingham and Manchester – home to established Arab communities that had found work in the cities’ engineering industries.

A leaked top-secret CX (MI6) document – with the title LIBYA: PLANS TO OVERTHROW QADAHFI IN EARLY 1996 ARE WELL ADVANCED – shows details of that plot. According to the document, an agent referred to as ‘Tunworth’ admitted contacts between the assassination plotters and extremists. They were described as “Libya veterans who served in Afghanistan”, i.e. people with connections to groups like al-Qaeda. Explanatory notes to that document suggest that the permanent under secretary’s department, GCHQ, MI5, the Ministry of Defence, and MI6 stations in Tunis, Cairo, and Washington all knew of the assassination attempt in advance.

As Mark Curtis observed:

The plot went ahead in February 1996 in Sirte, Qadafi’s home city, but a bomb was detonated under the wrong car. Six innocent bystanders were killed, and Qadafi escaped unscathed.

MI6 also played a pivotal role in the alleged rendition of LIFG leader Abdel Hakim Belhaj, who was subsequently tortured by Libyan intelligence. Several incriminating documents retrieved by Human Rights Watch showed the extent to which MI6 head Mark Allen personally intervened and assisted the Libyan authorities in the matter.

Blowback revisited

Libya is currently one of the most unstable countries in north Africa. There are now reports of Syrian jihadists allied to Turkey providing support to the Tripoli-based government of national accord.

Covert intelligence operations can lead to unforeseen results, and it’s impossible to predict how events would have panned out had Britain not interfered in the geo-politics of that region. But while politicians who oversaw those operations appear to have emerged relatively unscathed, the same can’t be said for the ordinary folk who merely wanted to attend an Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena.

De VS gaf meer dan 1 miljoen dollar uit om protesten tegen Iraans bewind uit te buiten (en te organiseren)

Ja, beetje vreemde kop met de toevoeging tussen aanhalingstekens, waarin ik de kop boven het artikel van Darius Shahtahmasebi op Creative Commons en Anti-Media probeer mee te nemen. Volgens hem heeft de VS de koe bij de horens gevat om de protesten in Iran van december 2017 en de eerste week van dit jaar te gebruiken en deze te veranderen in (gewelddadig) protest tegen het Iraanse bewind.........

Zo bezien zou je denken dat Shahtahmasebi, die onderzoeksjournalist Nafeed Ahmed meermaals citeert, blijkbaar niet weet dat de VS altijd al (CIA) agenten in Iran had, agenten die niet alleen aan spionage doen, maar ook proberen mensen te winnen voor een opstand tegen het Iraanse bewind. Het is dan ook zeker, dat de CIA aandeel had in het organiseren van de 'opstand'. Later wordt hier wel aan gerefereerd door Shahtahmasebi. Deze bemoeienis van de VS bestaat al van voor de Iraanse revolutie in 1979, al zal het aantal agenten de eerste jaren na deze revolutie in Iran wel minimaal zijn geweest, als ze al niet de benen hadden genomen naar een ander dan wel hun 'thuisland'.

Vergeet niet dat er voor de Iraanse revolutie een groot aantal VS beambten werkzaam was in toen nog de Perzische dictatuur van sjah Pahlavi, die in het zadel werd geholpen (1953*) en gehouden door de VS, dezelfde VS (middels de CIA) die de gehate geheime dienst trainde....... Al met al zijn door eerdere VS regeringen vele miljoenen uitgegeven aan Iran, met de bedoeling een verandering van regime te kopen

Shahtahmasebi citeert Ahmed die uitlegt dat uit congressionele documenten Trumps (zijn militaire administratie) bemoeienissen duidelijk worden gemaakt, bemoeienissen waarmee op meerdere manieren gepoogd werd een verandering van bewind in Iran voor elkaar te krijgen (een bewind dat pro-VS zou moeten zijn, zoals je begrijpt).........

Lees hoe 'de waard' (de VS) haar gasten vertrouwt en zelf de grote manipulator is van processen in alweer een land waar het niets te zoeken heeft...... Van Rusland kan dit niet gezegd worden, daar er geen bewijzen zijn (zelfs het Volkskrant artikel over Russiagate van afgelopen week blijkt apekool te zijn, later meer daarover), terwijl de reguliere media (zoals de Volkskrant, NRC, Telegrof, radio en tv) en de meeste westerse politici volhouden dat Rusland de grote manipulator is, echter voor de VS manipulaties, waarvoor bewijzen te over zijn, hebben deze media en politici amper of geen aandacht........ Bewijzen voor de manipulaties van de VS, op een groot aantal manieren toegepast op een evenzo groot aantal landen..... Waar de Vault 7 en 8 gelekte VS overheidsdocumenten op Wikileaks aangeven dat de CIA, NSA en andere geheime diensten in de VS, deze manipulaties in de schoenen van een ander land kunnen schuiven (bijvoorbeeld door een spoor achter te laten dat eindigt bij een IP-adres in een ander land.......)

Revealed: US Spent Over $1 Million to Exploit Protests in Iran for ‘Regime Change’

(ANTIMEDIA Op-ed) — The U.S. State Department spent over $1 million to exploit unrest in Iran, investigative journalist Nafeez Ahmed reported last week in Le Muslim Post.

At the end of 2017 and through the first week of 2018, Iran was rocked by protests through its major cities, and the Trump administration quickly pounced to exploit the dissent. The U.S. even tried calling an urgent U.N. Security Council meeting that ultimately backfired because the rest of the major U.N. players weren’t interested in exploiting Iran’s protests for personal gain.

However, the Trump administration’s desire to exploit unrest in Iran may go much further than mere diplomatic support for anti-regime protesters. Ahmed explains:

“A range of recent official documents, from Congressional research to US foreign aid funding reports, throw new light on the Trump administration’s approach. The documents reveal the US government’s continued interest in triggering major political change in Iran to pull the country into the orbit of American interests. This includes the possibility of exploiting political unrest and other crises – including a worsening water crisis – to turn popular opinion against the regime.” However, the Trump administration’s desire to exploit unrest in Iran may go much further than mere diplomatic support for anti-regime protesters. Ahmed explains:

This introduction may be no surprise to some, as Anti-Media has previously explained that regime change in Iran has become more or less an official Trump administration policy and that a CIA office has even been established to complete this nefarious goal.

Ahmed explains further:

“Iran’s unrest has mostly been driven by a convergence of domestic ecological, energy and economic crises. The State Department has sought to exploit these crises to undermine the legitimacy of the regime, by funding opposition groups as well as anti-regime broadcasting to the tune of tens of millions of dollars a year…One State Department funding document, for instance, refers to a project to use Iran’s growing water crisis to drum up public anger against regime “mismanagement”. To date, US government records show that the Trump administration has spent over $1m, at least, since 2016, on financing anti-regime activism within Iran.”

However, as Ahmed explains, the recent findings are nothing new in terms of American foreign policy, as “successive US administrations have invested tens of millions of dollars a year on ‘democracy promotion efforts’ in Iran.” This was also detailed in the book Which Path to Persia? – a neoconservative roadmap for targeting Iran for regime change.

“Democracy production” is a nice way for the U.S. to openly discuss regime change operations, which ultimately have nothing to do with democracy by their very nature given the U.S. is the extrinsic driving force behind proposed changes.

As Ahmed notes, much of the media programming funded by the State Department has “focused on glorifying the reign of the Shah of Iran, the brutal US-UK backed dictator who was deposed by the 1979 revolution.” As The Diplomat’s recently published article entitled “Why Iran’s Monarchy Could Unite a Divided Country” concludes:

“[T]he legacy of the Pahlavis, who themselves come from a humble background, is ‘modernism, secularism, and nationalism’, so perhaps today, a combination of support from liberals, nationalists, exiles, and the rural poor tired of being fleeced by clerics can lay the groundwork for the reestablishment of a constitutional Iranian monarchy” suddenly makes a lot more sense in this context.

Despite this noticeable propaganda effort, the Trump administration’s Iran strategy ultimately went further than attempting to win the war of ideas. One document entitled “Iran’s Foreign and Defense Policies,” dated February 6, 2017, allegedly describes how the decision to place Iran “officially on notice” was to signal that “the new Administration might change US rules of engagement to include the use of deadly force in future incidents.” The document also notes that these aggressive policies could indirectly lead to the collapse of the 2015 nuclear accord, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). In order to achieve these aims, the document seemed to indicate, a continued military relationship with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states is pivotal.

Further, a Congressional document entitled “Iran: Politics, Human Rights and US Policy” dated February 17, 2017, stated the following:

“The Trump Administration has not stated a position on whether it would seek to change Iran’s regime, but its characterization of Iran as a US adversary could suggest that the Administration might support efforts to oust the Iranian regime should opportunities to do so present themselves.” [emphasis added]

However, the tell-all moment in the document is the paragraph that explains why the U.S. has not yet directly pursued regime change. The document states:

“In the absence of all-out US pursuit of regime change, successive Administrations and Congress have promoted political evolution in Iran through ‘democracy promotion’ and sanctions on Iranian human rights abuses.” [emphasis added]

As Ahmed explains, “Iran democracy promotion” funds have been “obligated through DRL [Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Affairs] and the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs in partnership with USAID. Some of the funds have also been used for cultural exchanges, public diplomacy, and broadcasting to Iran.”

The U.S. government is also reportedly spending at least $33 million a year on what Ahmed terms “soft propaganda” through its funding of Radio Farda and the Voice of America (VOA)’s Persian Service to spread anti-regime sentiment. In early 2017, the son of the late Shah was actually broadcast into Iran via these two stations. He advocated “peaceful regime change” through protest and civil disobedience. Remember this the next time the intelligence agencies release a report stating Russian-owned media outlets RT and Sputnik are to blame for landing Donald Trump in the White House.

While full data for the year 2017 is not yet available, Ahmed argues that USAID and State Department records reveal the U.S. spent over $1,146,196 on various opposition groups in Iran from 2016 through the Trump administration’s first year in office. These funds were provided by the State Department through the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).

When contacted for comment, Ahmed told Anti-Media that while “much of this figure is undoubtedly attributed to Obama, the vast majority of the 2017 spend has not been published yet,” also noting that the 2017 figure already “looks to be in the order of a million plus.”

According to Ahmed, from 2014 to 2017, the Obama and Trump administration’s spent a total of $2,948,733 through the State Department to fund opposition activists in Iran. NED records describing where the funds were going outline that the mission was to “engage members of the Iranian intelligentsia in public deliberation on the social, economic and political prospects of a democratic Iran.”

Another document reportedly states that the funds were for the purpose of building “the capacity of Iranian citizens to conduct community-level political process monitoring through a focused training program.”

Ahmed also highlights that one of the core ways the U.S. has sought to exploit unrest in Iran is to target Iran’s looming water crisis (something we have seen before in Syria). While many of the protesters’ concerns about Iran’s current situation are certainly justifiable, America’s decision to try to involve itself and exploit unrest for its own gains arguably are not. As Ahmed explains:

“While the US government routinely uses Iran’s abysmal human rights record as a core justification for its anti-regime efforts, its alliance with similarly abusive Gulf regimes like Saudi Arabia – in the name of isolating and weakening the Iranian regime – discredits the idea that US policy is genuinely motivated by humanitarian or democratic considerations.”

Het verborgen motief achter de Israëlische agressie tegen Iran en Syrië

Israël onderhield goede banden met de in 1953 door de VS geparachuteerde sjah van Perzië (Iran), dit na een door de VS opgezette staatsgreep tegen de democratisch gekozen regering van premier Mossadegh..... In 1968 zetten de 2 landen een onderneming op poten, om zo Perzische olie te transporteren naar Israël, dit daar het Suez Kanaal was geblokkeerd door Egypte. Deze onderneming, de Eilat-Ashkelon Pijpleiding (EAPC), was in feite een vervolg op de al lang door Perzië geleverde olie aan Israël, al werd dat tot die tijd geheim gehouden, om spanningen tussen Perzië en arabische landen te vermijden......

Zo'n 10 jaar lang werd er Perziche (Iraanse) olie geleverd via deze pijpleiding, waar de opbrengsten voor de sjah na de omwenteling van de Iraanse revolutie (1978-19790 in Israël bleven. Na deze revolutie* erkende Israël het nieuwe bewind niet en werd het geld dat Iran nog tegoed had, niet overgedragen aan dat bewind........

Reden daarvoor: Israël weigerde (en weigert nog steeds) de Iraanse tegoeden over te maken naar dat land, daar het geen geld zou overmaken naar een vijandig land. De Zwitserse rechter heeft daarover gezegd, dat niets de overmaking van het geld naar Iran in de weg staat......

EAPC bestaat nog steeds en de olie die door de (nieuwe) pijpleiding wordt vervoerd, komt volgens deskundigen uit voormalige Sovjet staten, echter daar is geen zekerheid over daar er een bij de wet afgedwongen zwijgplicht bestaat....

De EAPC bedrijfsvoering blijft geheim en is intussen bekend als de Europe Asia Pipeline Co. Ofwel de 'EAPC-B', een bedrijf in handen van Israël. De zwijgplicht over dit bedrijf is nog onlangs verlengd met 5 jaar, op overtreding van de zwijgplicht staat een gevangenisstraf tot 15 jaar......

De macht van Israël gaat ver over haar eigen grenzen, zo moest journalist Nafeez Ahmed proefondervindelijk ervaren....... Een artikel van deze journalist werd door The Guardian in juli 2014 gepubliceerd, daarin schreef Ahmed dat de oorlog die Israël tegen de Gazastrook voerde in 2014, alles te maken had met de enorme voorraad aardgas voor de kust van de Gazastrook.

Ahmed schreef in het blog, 'Earth Insight' van The Guardian over de link tussen milieu en geopolitiek. Het bewuste artikel zorgde ervoor dat The Guardian stopte met dit blog, onder het voorwendsel dat een aantal artikelen van Ahmed op het blog niet in de lijn waren van de opzet die tot het opzetten van dit blog hebben geleid........ Dit terwijl het bewuste artikel op grote schaal werd verspreid en gelezen. Ook heeft The Guardian nooit het artikel teruggenomen, of genoemde zaken weersproken........ Je snapt natuurlijk dat The Guardian handelde onder druk van Israël en de pro-Israëlische regering Cameron

Ahmed had overigens ook over de oorzaak van de oorlog tegen Syrië geschreven en terecht merkte hij op dat één van de hoofdoorzaken van de Israëlische agressie tegen dat land gelegen is in de weigering van Syrië een gaspijpleiding over haar grondgebied toe te staan....... Dit blokkeerde de wens van Israël om één van de grote spelers in de 'gaswereld' te worden.......

In 1968, the two countries set up a joint venture known as the Eilat-Ashkelon Pipeline Co. (EAPC) to transport Iranian oil to the Mediterranean, primarily after Egypt blocked the Suez Canal. This move hindered Iranian oil exports at the time. Iran was already supplying Israel with the bulk of its oil prior to the formation of EAPC but did so secretly to avoid tension with the Arab world.

For about a decade, the pipeline carried Iranian oil from the Red Sea for export to Europe. Following the fall of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi in 1979, the Iranian leadership has been demanding their share of revenue and assets that remained in Israel, no longer a country recognized by the Islamic Republic.

According to Business Insider, no one knows how much profit the EAPC has made or how much it is worth because it is protected in a similar way to Israel’s intelligence agencies through the use of gag orders. The source of its oil, while suspected to be mainly from former Soviet states, is also protected by the gag orders. Even Business Insider’s report states that the article had to pass through the military censor prior to publishing. However, we do know that the EAPC has reportedly become the largest distributor of oil in Israel with ambitions to become a major hub in the Mediterranean.

In 1994, Iran began pursuing an arbitration case against Israel, first in France and then in Switzerland. In 2016, the Swiss court handling the matter determined that the Israeli government owed Iran $260,000 for oil sent to Israel prior to the fall of the Shah in 1979 as part of a wider $1.2 billion owed to Iran (plus interest). Israel was also required to pay Iran’s legal fees of $208,000. Israel denied it was required to send money to an “enemy country,” but given that sanctions against Iran were supposed to have been lifted under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2015, the Swiss Court also ruled there were no legal obstacles preventing Israel from sending payment to Iran.

Now, the EAPC will continue to operate secretly following an Israeli parliamentary committee ruling at the end of December. It is now known as the Europe Asia Pipeline Co. (EAPC-B), a company owned by the Israeli government. The gag order protecting the pipeline has been extended five more years, and breaches of the gag order can incur a 15-year jail sentence.

Israel’s ability to punish people who document its energy-related ambitions far exceeds the power of a domestic gag order. In July 2014, the Guardian published journalist Nafeez Ahmed’s blog, which claimed Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza at the time was rooted in a desire to control Palestinian gas. The Guardian axed his blog not long after and released the following statement:

“Nafeez Ahmed is a freelance journalist who self-published blog posts on our environment blogging network for just over a year as a regular contributor. He has never been on the staff of the Guardian. His Guardian blog – Earth Insight – was about the link between the environment and geopolitics, but we took the decision to end the blog when a number of his posts on a range of subjects strayed too far from this brief.”

As journalist Jonathan Cook explained, the Guardian’s motives were all too apparent:

“Interestingly, Ahmed’s article went viral, becoming the most shared of any of the paper’s stories on Operation Protective Shield. But readers appear to have had better news judgment than the Guardian’s editors. Rather than congratulate him, the Guardian effectively fired Ahmed, as he details in the link below. No one has suggested that there were errors in the story, and no correction has been appended to the article.”

Ahmed also wrote in the Guardian on a separate occasion detailing how the Syrian war was also similarly fueled by a natural gas pipeline dispute, which undoubtedly also affected Israel in its bid to become a major player in the gas industry.

Israel barely has enough energy resources of its own to maintain even 50 percent of its exports. In 2000, there was a discovery of 1.4 trillion cubic feet of natural gas off the Gaza coast, valued at $4 billion. Israel also later made other monumental discoveries of gas in Syria and Lebanon, as well, two known adversaries of the Israeli government. Israel is eager to intervene in both countries (for completely unrelated reasons, of course).

Anyone who tells you that natural resources like oil and gas do not play into Israel’s regional ambitions is either lying to you or grossly misinformed. Israel is even reportedly attempting to revive a century-old railway to connect the country to the wider Middle East – including Saudi Arabia – with the intention of outmaneuvering Iran and creating a fully-fledged anti-Iran axis based solely on trade.

Clearly, Israel’s infatuation with Iran has little to do with baseless claims about Iran’s non-existent nuclear weapons and everything to do with money and resources. Israel was happy to do business with a brutal Iranian dictator some decades ago, only to pretend to care about human rights now when Iranians take to the streets to protest an equally questionable regime.

Let’s call a spade a spade and recognize pipeline politics for what it is – the driving force behind the current regional standoff plaguing the Middle East and beyond.
