Assad heeft geen gifgas gebruikt tegen de Syrische bevolking!

De VS minister van defensie, James Mattis moest onlangs bekend maken dat het Syrische bewind geen Sarin gifgas heeft gebruikt tegen haar bevolking. Niet echt nieuws voor degenen die kritisch het nieuws volgen, echter dit zou wel een enorme aandachtstrekker moeten zijn voor de westerse reguliere media en het grootste deel van de westerse politici, daar men bij die media en politici Assad nog steeds verantwoordelijk houdt voor deze gifgasaanvallen.... Zoals je al begrepen had: ook voor deze vaststelling van Mattis is geen belangstelling bij die media en politici........

Uiteraard hadden de politici en media kunnen weten dat de beweringen over gifgasgebruik door Assad, niet op bewijzen waren gebaseerd en men in feite genoeg had aan VN rapportages en de mening van echte deskundigen (zo zag je hulpverleners die 'Sarin slachtoffers' hielpen zonder enige bescherming >> als het Sarin gas betrof, waren die hulpverleners heel snel zelf doodziek geworden...)

Ook de gifgasaanval op Ghouta in 2013 werd niet uitgevoerd door het Syrische bewind, maar door IS of Al Qaida Syrië (de laatste is vorig jaar door de VS van de terreurlijst gehaald.....). Carla del Ponte zou destijds onderzoek voor de VN doen naar deze gifgasaanval, maar mocht van de VS (onder 'vredesduif' Obama en hufter Kerry) geen onderzoek doen naar verantwoordelijkheid voor die aanval door het Vrije Syrische Leger (bestaande uit IS en Al Qaida terroristen)....... Terwijl bekend was dat zij beschikten over dit gifgas...... Overigens wilde de VS ook na de gifgasaanval op Khan Sheikhoun geen onafhankelijk onderzoek toestaan........

Dit alles terwijl als voorafgaand aan de illegale oorlog tegen Irak in 2003, VN wapeninspecteurs het reguliere Iraakse leger 'gifgasvrij' verklaarden....... Precies als nu, herhaalden de reguliere westerse (massa-) media en het grootste deel van de westerse politici, de leugens van de VS als zou Saddam Hoessein beschikken over 'massavernietigingswapens...' Moet je nagaan en dan durven diezelfde media en politici bijna dagelijks de vuilbek open te trekken over 'fake news' (of nepnieuws) op de sociale media.......

Kortom Assad heeft geen gifgas ingezet tegen zijn eigen bevolking, het zoveelste bewijs, waar het westen doof voor is.... De VS en de rest van haar hielenlikkende westerse oorlogshonden willen dat Assad verdwijnt en daarvoor is blijkbaar alles geoorloofd, zelfs 'false flag' operaties door terreurgroepen..... 

Overigens maakte het BBC World Service radionieuws vannacht om 1.00 u. (CET) bekend dat de VN rapporten heeft vrijgegeven waaruit zou blijken dat leveringen voor laboratoriumbenodigdheden vanuit Noord-Korea naar Syrië waren verscheept..... De BBC nieuwsredactie stelde meteen dat dit weer een bewijs is dat Assad gifgas fabriceert, ook al is daar tot nu toe niet één keer bewijs voor gevonden...... Intussen rept men met geen woord over de enorme voorraden gifgas in Israël en Egypte, van waaruit hoeveelheden zijn geleverd aan de terreurgroepen ('gematigde rebellen') in Syrië...... 

Vanmorgen vertelde lulkoek praatjesmaker Remco Breuker op BNR (rond 8.37 u.) dat Noord-Korea ook wapens, militaire adviseurs en helikopterpiloten levert aan Syrië, waarbij hij o.a. de woorden 'geloven en vertrouwen' gebruikte....... Ofwel: twee vliegen die het westen wil vernietigen in één klap...... Alsof het Syrische leger niet genoeg militaire adviseurs en helikopterpiloten heeft uit Rusland en Iran...... Bovendien is Syrië nog steeds een soeverein land (ook al wordt die soevereiniteit continu illegaal geschonden, o.a. door de VS, GB en Turkije)..... Syrië moet buitenlandse terreurgroepen en legers van niet genode landen van haar grondgebied zien te krijgen, een zaak waar Syrië het volste (internationale) recht toe heeft en wie het land daarbij te hulp roept is haar zaak!!

Did Assad Use Chemical Weapons in Syria on His Own People?

(TIM) — It was a stunning announcement, stunning because of what was said and maybe equally as stunning because it was honest.

Secretary of Defense James Mattis says there is no evidence that the Syrian government used sarin gas on its own people.

It is a narrative we have been pushing back on for years. So what does this mean for U.S. policy in Syria?

And will President Trump continue to push for war in Syria, or will he return to the positions of candidate Trump who said the U.S. should stay out of it?

Let’s give it a Reality Check you won’t get anywhere else.

The statement is getting very little media coverage but it is a very big deal.

According to Defense Secretary James Mattis, there is no evidence that the Syrian government has used sarin gas on its own people.

Here is exactly what Mattis told reporters at the Pentagon:

“We have other reports from the battlefield from people who claim it’s been used.”

“We do not have evidence of it.”

“We’re looking for evidence of it, since clearly we are dealing with the Assad regime that has used denial and deceit to hide their outlaw actions.”

Mattis insists that he wasn’t refuting the claims. But in a sense, he did.

According to Newsweek, in 2017 a White House memorandum was quickly produced and then declassified to justify an American Tomahawk missile strike against the Shayrat airbase in Syria.

The justification used was that Assad had used chemical weapons on his own people. Then President Trump himself insisted that there was no doubt that Syrian President Assad had killed his own people with banned chemical weapons.

But Mattis also didn’t qualify the statement to just the Syrian airbase strike. That means that the 2013 gas attack in Ghouta also was not proven to be Assad.

At that time, President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry were demanding congress approve use of force against Assad. Obama said this from the rose garden as he said American destroyers armed with Tomahawk missiles were on standby in the Mediterranean Sea.

“I’m prepared to give that order, but having made my decision as commander in chief based on what I am convinced is our national security interests, I’m also mindful that I’m the president of the world’s oldest constitutional democracy.”

Congress did not approve that use of force, but then applauded Trump for his use.

For his part, in this latest statement, Mattis says that “aid groups and others” had provided evidence of the Syrian government using sarin.

But as I have extensively reported over the past few years, there is much evidence that the so called Syrian freedom fighters are actually ISIS and Al Qaeda fighters. And there is evidence that they have used chemical weapons.

Other problems with the claims of Assad using sarin: in the 2013 Ghouta event, the sarin came from home-made rockets, which were favored by insurgents.

Also, according to Newsweek:

“In the 2013 event, the White House memorandum seemed to rely heavily on testimony from the Syrian white helmets who were filmed at the scene having contact with supposed sarin-tainted casualties and not suffering any ill effects.

“Carla del Ponte was unable to fulfill her U.N. joint investigative mechanism mandate in Syria and withdrew in protest over the United States refusing to fully investigate allegations of chemical weapons use by ‘rebels’ who are actually jihadis, allied with the American effort to oust President Assad (including the use of sarin by anti-Assad rebels).”

According to the Times of London:

“Carla del Ponte, head of the independent UN commission investigating reports of chemical weapons use in Syria, told a Swiss-Italian television station that UN investigators gleaned testimony from victims of Syria’s civil war and medical staff which indicated that rebel forces used sarin gas – a deadly nerve agent.

“‘Our investigators have been in neighboring countries interviewing victims, doctors and field hospitals and, according to their report of last week which I have seen, there are strong, concrete suspicions but not yet incontrovertible proof of the use of sarin gas, from the way the victims were treated,’ del Ponte said in the interview, translated by Reuters.

‘This was use on the part of the opposition, the rebels, not by the government authorities,’ she added.”

It was the involvement of those jihadis posing as Syrian rebels that made then-candidate Trump state emphatically that he wouldn’t intervene and help oust Assad as Hillary Clinton wanted to do.

Candidate Trump pushed back heavily against intervention. He warned that ISIS was likely to take over Syria if Assad were ousted, just as they have in Iraq and Libya.

And yet the U.S. is only escalating fighting.

Four Russian nationals, and perhaps dozens more, were killed in fighting between pro-government forces in eastern Syria and members of the United States-led coalition fighting the Islamic State, according to Russian and Syrian officials—that according to the New York Times.

Russia says that no members of the Russian armed forces were killed and that any Russians fighting alongside the Syrians were mercenaries.

So what you need to know is that candidate Trump was clear when he pointed to the bush policy in Iraq and the Obama/Clinton policies in Libya and Syria that have only strengthened the creation and spread of ISIS and jihadism.

Candidate Trump rightly pointed out that these policies had failed and that it was insanity to keep pursuing those policies and expecting a different outcome.

So why is President Trump now embracing those insane policies that if continued will undoubtedly leave another power vacuum in the Middle East which will be filled with jihadis?

Joost Lagendijk (ex-GroenLinks 'politicus'), Turkije heeft gelijk met onderdrukking van de Koerden.....

'Viel' vanmiddag rond 15.12 u. in een gesprek op Radio1 over de Turkse aanval op noordelijk Syrisch grondgebied, dit daar Turkije de Koerdisch/Syrische YPG als een bedreiging voor Turkije ziet, terwijl deze Koerdische strijdgroep niet ook maar één aanval heeft gepleegd tegen Turkije.......

In de studio (althans dat neem ik aan) Joost Lagendijk, de ex-'politicus' van GroenLinks en o.a. ex-journalist van de Turkse krant Zaman, een krant die aangemerkt werd als Gülen propaganda orgaan, waarop hij Turkije niet meer in mocht. Verder in de studio Fréderike Geerdink, die als correspondent in Turkije werkte en daar eerder een paar uur vastzat in de stad Diyarbakır, vanwege 'het verspreiden van propaganda; (lees: de waarheid openbaren). Later dat jaar 2015, werd Geerdink in Zuidoost-Turkije samen met demonstranten van de Koerdische partij HDP gearresteerd, dit op verdenking van in verboden (Koerdisch) gebied te zijn geweest, daarop werd ze het land uitgezet.

Lagendijk stelde dat hij de Turkse strijd tegen de Koerdische PKK begrijpt, immers deze groepering (ook politieke partij) heeft veel aanslagen gepleegd in Turkije..... Kijk, zo kennen we 'onze Joost' weer, de Turkse regering likken, zijn specialiteit, althans totdat hij het land niet meer in mocht........ Je snapt natuurlijk wel, dat Lagendijk niet even vertelde waarom de PKK de Turkse overheid bevecht, dat zou zijn terugkeer naar Turkije maar verder kunnen vertragen (Lagendijk was woonachtig in Turkije).... Al moet ik zeggen dat ik Lagendijk nooit eerder heb gehoord over de ellende die de Turkse Koerden keer op keer te beurt valt.......

Geerdink viel Lagendijk bij, al maakte zij nog wel de opmerking dat de YPG, tegen wie Turkije nu vecht,  nooit ook maar een steen naar de Turken aan de overkant van de grens hebben gegooid......... De Turkse (illegale) aanval op Syrisch grondgebied gebeurt zo ongeveer met instemming van de hele westerse wereld....... 'Zelfs' de 'onafhankelijke' NOS legt de situatie uit, zonder één woord van kritiek op Turkije te gebruiken.......

Turkije voert al decennia lang een ware terreur in Koerdisch gebied, een zaak die amper aandacht krijgt in het westen, niet zo vreemd, daar Turkije de gebieden waar zij tegen de Koerden vecht tot verboden gebied verklaart voor journalisten, advocaten en mensenrechtenorganisaties........ (neem de laatste arrestatie van Geerdink) Bij die Turkse terreur zijn al vele duizenden Koerden (waaronder vrouwen, kinderen en ouden van dagen) vermoord......

Ach, blijkbaar moet je in de ogen van de reguliere westerse media en het merendeel van de westerse politici dit soort terreur gelaten over je heen laten komen en vooral geen poging doen om onafhankelijk te worden van Turkije, laat staan dat je gewapend terugslaat...... (dat 'deden wij tenslotte ook niet tijdens de nazi-Duitse bezetting.....'

Tekenend ook dat de VS de Koerden alweer laat vallen, zoals ze dit in het verleden al eerder deed na de eerste oorlog van de VS tegen Irak in 1991. De Koerden kwamen toen na een oproep daartoe van de VS in opstand tegen het leger van Saddam Hoessein, echter de door de VS beloofde militaire steun bleef uit......

Triest dat ook Geerdink het opneemt voor de terreur van de fascistische Erdogan dictatuur tegen de Koerden (in Turkije), terwijl zij moet weten hoe Turkije huishoudt in Koerdisch gebied, waarschijnlijk doet Geerdink dit, daar ze graag terug wil naar Turkije.........

Zuid-Koreaanse president Moon Jae-in buiten spel gezet inzake Noord-Korea.....

Wat er aan de hand is in Zuid-Korea weet ik niet, maar het lijkt erop dat president Moon Jae-in de macht over het leger kwijt is..... Immers al maanden probeert hij het beest Trump terug z'n hok in te krijgen, door erop te wijzen dat geweld niet de oplossing is in het conflict met Noord-Korea.........

Des te vreemder, het bericht dat de VS en Zuid-Korea een provocerende 'luchtshow' gaan opvoeren om Noord-Korea volkomen overbodig te waarschuwen niet aan te vallen en te stoppen met 'kernraketten' afschieten in de richting van Japan en oh wrede angst, de westkust van de VS!!! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! 

Waar een paar Noord-Koreaanse raketlanceringen 'zijn gelukt', mislukte het gros van die lanceringen dramatisch, daarnaast kan je uit die paar gelukte lanceringen niet opmaken, of deze raketten i.d.d. de westkust van de VS zouden kunnen halen. Ook is niet bekend of de plek waar deze raketten in zee zijn gestort, de door Noord-Korea gewenste plek was...... 

Dan nog de atoombom fabel: nog nooit heeft iemand toegegeven sporen van radioactiviteit te hebben opgemerkt boven de plek van de Noord-Koreaanse kernproeven....... Deze straling is tot een paar dagen na de lancering bovengronds te meten en is door een aantal satellieten te herkennen........ Als Noord-Korea inderdaad geen atoombom heeft, wat zoals gezegd naar grote waarschijnlijkheid de realiteit is, is een lading voor een kernraket, een zogenaamde kernkop, al helemaal ondenkbaar!

De voorgenomen militaire oefening met een groot aantal militaire vliegtuigen, waaronder de F-22 raptor, volgens zeggen de meest geavanceerde straaljager ter wereld*, zou de zoveelste schoffering van Noord-Korea worden, naast de jaarlijkse grote militaire oefening, die de VS en Zuid-Korea langs de grens en de gedemilitariseerde zone met Noord-Korea houden...... Tegen die oefeningen tekent N-K al decennia lang protest aan.......

President Moon Jae-in zet al vanaf zijn aantreden in op onderhandelingen met Noord-Korea en het stoppen van provocerende zaken als de bedreigingen tegen Noord-Korea, neem het dreigen met oorlog en vernietiging door het beest Trump...... Uiteraard wil Jae-in een eind aan de jaarlijkse oefeningen en de aangekondigde luchtshow van de VS en Zuid-Korea......

Gezien deze houding van Jae-in, kan je bijna niet anders concluderen dan: Jae-in heeft zijn leger niet in de hand, dit nog naast de grote druk die de VS uitoefent op Jae-in, om Noord-Korea zoveel mogelijk op te fokken......

Aan de luchtshow genaamd 'Vigilant Ace', doen maar liefst 12.000 VS militairen en een onbekend aantal Zuid-Koreaanse militairen mee, voorts zullen 230 militaire vliegtuigen worden ingezet, deze oefening op een aanval tegen Noord-Korea, zal starten op 4 december a.s.......

Tijdens de Koreaanse oorlog werd 20% van de Noord-Koreaanse bevolking uitgemoord met massa bombardementen door de VS...... Er werd zoveel gebombardeerd dat de VS op een geven moment geen doelen overhad om te bombarderen....... Is het dan zo vreemd te bedenken dat Noord-Korea zich op alle mogelijke manieren wil indekken tegen een voortzetting van de Koreaanse oorlog?? Bovendien heeft de VS laten zien dat wanneer het een president weg wil hebben, dit zal gebeuren,zelfs als deze president voldoet aan de eisen van de VS, zie Saddam Hoessein (Irak) en Khadaffi (Libie), landen die voor een groot deel in puin zijn gelegd en waar de chaos regeert.......

Vergeet tot slot niet dat de VS maar liefst 15 militaire bases heeft in Zuid-Korea, waarvan 1 vlak bij de gedemilitariseerde zone tussen de beide Korea's......

US and South Korea to Conduct Massive Air Force Exercise Aimed at North Korea

(COMMONDREAMS) — The U.S. and South Korea announced Friday they will conduct a massive air force exercise over the Korean Peninsula next month as a notable show of force targeting North Korea—despite warnings that the Trump administration’s decision earlier this week to add North Korea to the United States’ list of state sponsors of terrorism could further provoke the isolated country.

Six F-22 Raptor stealth fighters—which are among the world’s most advanced warplanes—will be sent to South Korea for the drill, a U.S. Air Force spokesman told AFP, which reports:

The massive five-day annual exercise comes as Washington pushes what President Donald Trump has called a “maximum pressure campaign” against Pyongyang over its nuclear program.

The exercise, named Vigilant Ace, starts on December 4 with 12,000 U.S. personnel and an unspecified number of South Korean airmen flying more than 230 aircraft at eight U.S. and South Korean military bases.

Reuters reports that U.S. Marine Corps and Navy troops will also participate in the exercise.

Although the drill is conducted annually, it comes as U.S. President Donald Trump continues to antagonize North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on the world stage.

As Common Dreams reported this week, after Trump designated North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism on Monday, the North Korean Central News Agency called the decision a “serious provocation,” and warned that “our army and people are full of rage and anger toward the heinous gangsters” who made the decision.

Concerns about the escalating conflict, and the Trump administration’s vocal opposition to engaging in diplomatic discussions with North Korea, continue to rise in the U.S. as well as among North Korea’s neighbors, particularly South Korea. When Trump visited Asia earlier this month, South Koreans greeted him with massive protests—denouncing him as a “war-threatening, weapons salesman”—while Pyongyang claimed the president “begged for war” during his trip.

* Of de F-22 Raptor i.d.d. de meest geavanceerde straaljager is, is maar zeer de vraag, immers dit zegt men ook over de JSF, terwijl dit peperdure straalvliegtuig niet eens straaljager genoemd kan worden, daar het niet voldoet aan de eisen daarvoor. Zo rent, klimt en wendt het toestel niet snel genoeg, het kan zich nog net meten met de A-19 Thunderbolt uit de 70er jaren........ De stealth technologie van de JSF is al gekraakt door Rusland en China, die het onding gewoon op de radar van hun nieuwste (wel echte) straaljagers kunnen zien...... Dit alles was bekend voordat Rutte 2 definitief instemde met de aanschaf van dit waanzinnige dure toestel, ook de verantwoordelijk minister, VVD leeghoofd Hennis-Plasschaert, was op de hoogte van deze feiten........ Ach ja, ministers en staatssecretarissen die lobbyen voor Lockheed Martin of andere bedrijven, is tegenwoordig de normaalste zaak van de wereld........

Syrië, de catastrofale en illegale interventie van de VS......

In het volgende artikel, dat ik overnam van Anti-Media, buigt Shahtahmasebi zich over de illegale bemoeienis van de VS met Syrië en de vele leugens waarmee figuren als ex-VS-minister van BuZa John Kerry de aanwezigheid van de VS in dat land probeerde te legitimeren (en dat ging behoorlijk ver, zoals u in het artikel kan lezen.

Kerry is zo'n ongelofelijk hufter, dat hij de zaak volkomen omdraaide (en nog steeds omdraait). Als je hem moet geloven, is Rusland niet legaal op Syrische bodem daar Assad in de ogen van de VS niet de legitieme president van Syrië is..... ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Als het over verkiezingen gaat, kunnen de VS overheid, inclusief Kerry, beter de eerste 100 jaar de vuilbek dichthouden, wat in dat gestolen land gebeurd (middels de op 1 na grootste genocide ooit), heeft al lang niets meer met democratie te maken!!

Voorlopig werd Assad met een fikse meerderheid in 2014 tot president verkozen, in door internationale waarnemers als eerlijk beoordeelde verkiezingen!! Zo wil oud-VS-president Carter wil al jaren niet meer als waarnemer werken voor verkiezingen in de VS, daar deze verkiezingen in zijn ogen niet eerlijk en democratisch verlopen, terwijl hij dit wel in diverse andere landen heeft gedaan.......

Bovendien zou Rusland zich in Syrië niet bezig houden met het bestrijden van IS, iets dat de VS wel zou doen. Toen Rusland eind september 2015 de Syrische regering te hulp schoot in de strijd tegen IS en andere terreurgroepen ('gematigde rebellen' aangestuurd door Al Qaida en Saoedi-Arabië), was IS sterker dan ooit, ondanks dat de VS al meer dan een jaar deze terreurgroep 'bestreed', o.a. middels een enorm aantal bombardementen....... (waarover VS veteranen en andere getuigen vertelden, dat niet zelden delen van de woestijn werden gebombardeerd, waar geen mens te vinden was.....)

Zelfs de export van 'IS olie' naar Turkije werd niet aangepakt door de VS...... Na 2 maanden van Russische hulp aan het Syrische leger werd er (veel) meer bereikt tegen IS, dan de VS en haar coalitiegenoten in meer dan 1 jaar voor elkaar kregen en lag de IS oliehandel zo goed als op de reet.......

(ANTIMEDIA Op-ed) — Toward the end of last year, leaked audio of then-Secretary of State John Kerry went viral across the independent media because it appeared to confirm that the U.S. was watching ISIS and allowing the group to grow in order to exert pressure on the Syrian government, a long-time adversary of the Obama administration.

However, more stunning than this apparent admission was the fact that Kerry confirmed what Anti-Media has been warning about for some time now regarding the legality of America’s Syrian operation. In the leaked audio, speaking to Syrian opposition members at a meeting that took place at the Dutch mission to the United Nations, Kerry stated:

“The problem is that the Russians don’t care about international law, but we do. And we don’t have the basis – our lawyers tell us – unless we have the U.N. Security Council Resolution, which the Russians can veto, and the Chinese, or unless we are under attack from the folks there, or unless we are invited in. Russia is invited in by the legitimate regime – well it’s illegitimate in our mind – but by the regime. And so they were invited in and we are not invited in. We’re flying in airspace there where they can turn on the air defenses and we would have a very different scene. The only reason they are letting us fly is because we are going after ISIL. If we were going after Assad, those air defenses, we would have to take out all the air defenses, and we don’t have the legal justification, frankly, unless we stretch it way beyond the law.” [emphasis added]

As a lawyer who is extremely concerned with human rights and international law, I could have told John Kerry this for free. Though this devastating truth is evident to anyone who has a basic understanding of international legal principles, the fact that the U.S. is still pressing ahead with this strategy despite being informed of the illegality of the operation by their lawyers is quite telling on its own.

It is laughable that before stating this damning fact, Kerry alleged that the Russians don’t care about international law, but “we do” — before he went on to explain that Russia was acting within the bounds of international law while the U.S. wasn’t.

In all likelihood, the real reason Russia and Syria allow American aircraft to fly in Syria’s airspace is not that they are targeting ISIS, as Kerry pondered, but because there is very little that Russia and Syria can do without risking an all-out war with the world’s largest military superpower.

It is almost like saying that Iraq ‘welcomed’ the U.S. invasion in 2003 because there was little that Saddam Hussein’s military could do to stop it. Make no mistake, a country’s inability to drive the U.S. out of its country does not equate to tacit acceptance of its military presence. The schoolyard bully is not welcomed by the silent kids he or she wails upon. In fact, Syria’s president has made it quite clear that the U.S. has invaded its territory, and this alone should be all the knowledge we need to oppose yet another American-led war in the Middle East. Just because the U.S. is targeting ISIL and not Assad, does not legitimize America’s operations at all, especially in light of Kerry’s own assessment of the operation as referred to above.

How many countries does the U.S. have to invade illegally before its people decide it’s time to do something about it?

The 2003 invasion of Iraq had no U.N. Security Council Resolution, and the country has been plagued with rampant violence ever since. If the Russians had not been duped out of vetoing the misused U.N. Security Council Resolution 1973 with regard to the Libyan conflict in 2011, then Libya would not be the failed state it is today. The Libyan resolution did not authorize regime change and was specifically worded so as to be concerned with protecting civilians on the ground. NATO used the authorization to transform itself into the air force of al-Qaeda-linked rebels and pounded Libya until Muammar Gaddafi had been assassinated.

Under President Trump, the U.S.’ bombing campaign in Syria makes even Obama pale in comparison. The U.N. estimated that in just the first week of America’s ramped up illegal bombing campaign in Raqqa, airstrikes killed 300 civilians.

Even if the U.S. does have some legal justification to bomb Syria, shouldn’t we still oppose military intervention? The U.S. has waged war in a number of countries since the attacks of September 11, and millions of people have died as a result of these American-led conflicts. Terror attacks still run rampant; part and parcel of the vicious cycle of violence responding to violence across the globe.

In areas that have been liberated by the Syrian government, hundreds of thousands of displaced Syrians are returning home. In Aleppo, in a Christian-inclined district that was besieged by fanatic rebels who abhor religious diversity, a Cathedral just reopened with a Mozart-inspired concert – something that would have been almost impossible under rebel-held rule.

It is also worth pondering why it is that the U.S., a majority Christian nation, is siding with Islamist rebels against a government that protects the rights of Christians. It makes no sense outside of a geopolitical lens, and Trump supporters who openly profess to be “good American Christians” should take note of this damning fact.

Forget the legality of the war for a minute, forget the mounting death toll that is only able to accrue courtesy of your taxpayer dollars, and take a moment to figure out where we are headed as a species.

The U.S. has not only placed itself in a worldwide conflict with no foreseeable end that will continue to line the pockets of the arms-dealing class for centuries to come, but it is also bombing the same territory as another nuclear power with complete polar opposite interests. It is a powder keg that has been waiting a few years to ignite, and the two nuclear powers are becoming ever closer to bombing the exact same location with different ambitions as to which party to the conflict should emerge as the victor.

The potential for this conflict to dramatically escalate should be high enough to warrant a mobilization of effective resistance. If you don’t want your sons, daughters, partners, parents, and friends to go and die in Syria propping up a failing empire concerned only with money and resources, now is the time to act. You can’t afford to wait until body bags of loved ones come parading home before you decide that enough is enough — by then it may be too late.

Before anyone accuses me of sounding the alarm prematurely — and though the corporate media has attempted to accuse Trump of conceding to Putin inside Syria — can anyone name another conflict in which two nuclear-armed powers were bombing the same country with completely different intentions that was also concluded and de-escalated in a timely, safe, secure, and low-risk manner?

Didn’t think so.

The battle against ISIS is still ongoing and involves multiple state actors attempting to hoard as much Syrian territory as physically possible. It is clear that the U.S. has no legal or moral right to be inside Syria in the first place, so does it seem fair to endanger countless more lives in order for the U.S. to gift its proxies a chunk of Syrian territory after ISIS’ downfall?
