Vluchtelingen op Lesbos staan aan de vooravond van een geestelijke gezondheidscrisis...................

Kreeg gisteren Via Anti-Media een artikel van Middle East Eye, waarin wordt gemeld dat de vluchtelingen op Lesbos in een geestelijke gezondheidscrisis gedompeld dreigen te worden.

De Griekse regering (in feite geregeerd door de Europese Commissie, de ECB en het IMF) heeft de medische hulp aan vluchtelingen uit Irak en Syrië met de helft teruggebracht....... Artsen zonder grenzen (MSF) heeft de noodklok geluid over suïcides, zelfmutilatie en seksueel geweld in de overvolle (provisorische) kampen waar 4.700 mensen worden opgevangen........

Ondanks de 'geweldige vluchtelingendeal' met Turkije, komen er meer en meer vluchtelingen aan op Lesbos en andere Griekse eilanden........ Het heeft de EU een paar miljard euro's aan belastinggeld gekost, terwijl het aantal vluchtelingen uit Turkije met de maand stijgt.......

De vluchtelingen zijn voor een overgroot deel getraumatiseerd al voor hun vlucht (meestal door verlies van gezins- en andere familieleden, plus het verlies 'van huis en haard'), waarna ze door de vlucht nog eens verder worden getraumatiseerd en nu worden ze op de koop toe getraumatiseerd in de kampen.......... In de opvangkampen lijden de mensen, die dringend psychische zorg nodig hebben) aan: depressies (30%), posttraumatische stressstoornissen (PTSS  Ook zo'n 30%), angststoornissen (30%) en de rest aan andere psychische stoornissen.........

Vrouwen die hulp zoeken bij gynaecologen, veelal vanwege seksueel geweld, kunnen niet terecht bij vrouwelijke artsen, omdat die er niet zijn, dit zorg er volgens MSF voor, dat veel gevallen van seksueel geweld niet worden onderkend........

Ongelofelijk dat de EU, dat in feite Griekenland leidt, dit alles kan laten gebeuren, zonder dat het ingrijpt..... Griekenland zit aan de grond en intussen weigeren de rest van de EU landen Griekenland te helpen, men wil zelfs niet (of bijzonder weinig) financieel en humanitair bijdragen........ Het toont nogmaals aan dat we niets hebben aan de inhumane dictatoriale EU en er zo snel mogelijk uit moeten stappen, voordat de EU het ook hier voor het zeggen krijgt! Het tempo waarmee Rutte 2 (en straks Rutte 3) delen van onze soevereiniteit overdraagt, maant tot spoed, voordat het echt te laat is: NEXIT NU!!!!!

Waar is de menselijkheid gebleven....??

Refugees on Lesbos are facing a mental health catastrophe as Greece cuts funding in half during the high season for arrivals and prioritises their deportations back to Turkey, a medical charity has said.

Suicide, self-harm and sexual abuse is rife among the 4,700 people of Moria and Kara Tepe camps, Doctors Without Borders said, and mental health services have been cut despite the daily number of new arrivals growing fourfold in less than three months.

"Vulnerable people are falling through the cracks and are not been adequately identified and cared for," said the charity's head of mission, Emilie Rouvroy.

"The difficult, overcrowded living conditions, the complicated legal system, and asylum seekers' deep medical suffering are compounded by an often deep loss of home, family, friends and the violence of the journey many refugees have made," said advocacy manager Louise Roland-Gosselin, who analysed the project's data:

"The alarm bells are ringing now."

The NGO, also known as MSF, said in its report on Monday that almost 80 percent of refugees who sought mental health assessments on the island were deemed severe enough to be taken into care.

Half of the women who sought gynaecological consultations had been victims of sexual violence, it said. The absence of any female doctors also made identifying cases of sexual violence difficult, the report said.

But resources to detect vulnerable refugees were cut in half in April 2017, according to the organisation, just as new arrivals began to spike as weather became calmer for crossings from Turkey.

One of two clinics closed, and the number of psychologists per shift fell from three to one and nurses from four to one. Cultural mediators have also been withdrawn.

About 4,700 refugees currently live in the two refugee camps on the island as they await the outcome of their asylum claim from Greece's overburdened refugee services.

Among refugees assessed by the organisation between 1 January and mid-June, a third had symptoms of post-traumatic stress, a third had symptoms of depression, a third suffered from anxiety and four percent from psychotic disorders. The figures are not cumulative.

"It is common to see scars from cutting or cigarette burns on patients' arms and legs, and many share thoughts of wishing to drown themselves or fall from a tall building or cliff," they were quoted by the report as saying.

"These thoughts and behaviours appear to demonstrate the pervasive hopelessness people feel regarding their futures."

'Alarm bells are ringing'

Conditions at Moria have been consistently condemned by human rights groups and NGOs, particularly since March 2016 when refugees landing on the island were forbidden from leaving under the terms of an agreement between the EU and Turkey designed to stem the flow of refugees arriving by boat in Europe.

Arrivals of refugees on the Greek islands from Turkey have drastically reduced. An average of 1,100 refugees were arriving daily in Greece in March 2016 before the agreement came into force.

The current average daily number of arrivals has fallen to 73, but MSF has warned that the summer season has seen a fourfold increase, putting added strain on the island's overstretched facilities.

A total of 785 people arrived on Lesbos in the first three weeks of June, as compared to 230 people in April and 530 in May.

The camp has been the site of regular violent protests and rioting, as asylum procedure delays, overcrowding and poor conditions led to tensions between the camp's residents and authorities.

Clashes broke out twice last week with local media reports of tents being set alight by camp residents as frustration boiled over.

A Lesbos based refugee legal centre reported that 35 individuals were arrested because of the disturbances.

Assad die NB in 2014 met een grote meerderheid van stemmen werd gekozen tot president, dit in verkiezingen die door internationale waarnemers als eerlijke verlopend werden bestempeld!!

Anti-Media bracht gisteren een artikel van MintPress News, waarin wordt gemeld, dat bijna 500.000 gevluchte Syriërs terugkeren naar door het bewind van Assad gecontroleerde gebieden. Me dunkt 'het teken, dat ze Assad een smerige, bloederige dictator vinden......'

Andrej Mahecic, woordvoerder van de hoge commissaris voor vluchtelingen bij de VN (UNHCR), heeft bekend gemaakt, dat sinds het begin van dit jaar 440.000 Syrische vluchtelingen, die in Syrië zijn gebleven, terug zijn gekeerd naar hun woonplaats in door reguliere Syrische troepen gecontroleerd gebied. Daarnaast zijn er in dezelfde tijd 31.000 Syrische vluchtelingen die naar het buitenland waren gevlucht, teruggekeerd naar alweer door het Syrische leger gecontroleerd gebied. Voorts zijn er sinds 2015 vanuit het buitenland 260.000 vluchtelingen teruggekeerd naar (nogmaals) door het Syrische leger gecontroleerd gebied.....

De westerse praatjes, dat het merendeel van de Syriërs zijn gevlucht voor het wrede regime van  Assad, is een smerige leugen in de propagandaoorlog die de westerse massamedia en het merendeel van de westerser politici, onder aanvoering van NB de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde, de VS, voeren tegen de regering Assad, Rusland en Iran..........

Vergeet niet dat het (ongedeelde) Syrië onder Assad, van voor de door de VS en anderen geregisseerde en gefinancierde opstand van 2011, een land was waar een groot aantal geloven, zonder enige probleem 'onder hetzelfde dak leefden.....' Iets dat in de door Assad gecontroleerde gebieden nog steeds zo is!!

Het agressieve westen moet zich als de donder terugtrekken uit Syrië, voordat het land opgedeeld kan worden, een opdeling die de wens is van: de VS, Saoedi-Arabië (na de VS de nr. 2 terreurstaat), Israël (na de VS en S-A de nr. 3 terreurstaat), Egypte en de Golfstaten (zonder Qatar). Als dit niet gebeurd is er niet alleen de kans op een internationaal conflict van enorm formaat, maar zal Syrië de zoveelste 'failed state made in USA' zijn........

(MPN) — DAMASCUS (Analysis) –  Crucial to the Western narrative of the Syrian conflict is the assertion that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is a brutal dictator who has taken to killing his own people over the course of Syria’s six-year-long conflict. This allegation has been the crux of the “humanitarian” justification for foreign military intervention in Syria that would seek to depose Assad’s government, a justification frequently used by the U.S. and its allies prior to an invasion or the toppling of an extant regime.

While this narrative has been pervasive in media coverage of the Syrian conflict, it is now being debunked by the very Syrian refugees that the media purported were fleeing Assad in the first place.

According to a recent statement from Andrej Mahecic, a spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, an estimated 440,000 displaced Syrians who remained in the country have returned to their homes since the year began. In addition, 31,000 refugees in neighboring countries also returned to Syria in the first half of the year, with 260,000 having returned to Syria from other nations since 2015.

Though Mahecic noted that these refugees represent only a “fraction” of the five million Syrian refugees living in neighboring countries, what is notable is that nearly all of those who have decided to come back are settling in areas of Syria controlled by the government or where the Syrian government has made major territorial gains against ISIS and US-backed militants like al-Nusra Front in recent months – namely Aleppo, Hama, Homs and Damascus.

       Even with the conflict in Syria still raging, thousands of the displaced are eagerly returning to their homes under the control of the Syrian government. This may seem strange, as the U.S. media has long suggested that most refugees were fleeing Assad, not foreign-backed terrorists like Daesh (ISIS) and Al-Nusra. 

Of course, this assertion was based on “polls” of refugees conducted by the Syria Campaign, a USAID-funded organization that has long pushed for U.S. military intervention in Syria.

This begs the question: why would refugees choose to return to territory controlled by the person they supposedly sought to flee, as the mainstream media portrays?

These latest figures from the UN suggest that many refugees were not fleeing their government, but rather the violence caused by a foreign-funded insurgency intended to topple the popular Assad government. As Middle East Eye noted in 2015, prior to the outbreak of the conflict, Assad was widely popular, though his popularity allegedly evaporated as the 2011 Saudi- and U.S.-funded uprising began.

Did Assad’s popularity with the Syrian people ever really go away? Western media reports containing interviews with the handful of Syrians who support Assad as dictator claim it is so. But the evidence has long suggested that the majority of Syrians have continued to approve of their president throughout the conflict.

Indeed, there is plenty of evidence that the “popular uprisings” against the Assad government in 2011 were staged on behalf of foreign mercenaries largely backed by Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey – governments that have long sought to remove Assad from power. Assad’s popularity prior to the outbreak of violence likely remained unchanged after the fact.

Polling within Syria has consistently shown this to be true. Even polls funded by anti-Assad nations like Qatar have also found that the majority of Syrians continue to overwhelmingly support Assad. Indeed, when elections were last held in 2014, the Western media could not hide the large crowds that came to vote, as the population re-elected Assad, who won with 88 percent of the vote. By contrast, voter turnout was 55.7 percent in the last U.S. Presidential election, suggesting that Assad has a stronger democratic mandate than U.S. President Donald Trump.

Six years into the conflict, video footage, and photographs clearly show that Assad and his wife regularly walk among the Syrian people in Damascus with little to no security detail. The Assads even drive their own cars – without security – through the countryside.

This seems like a difficult feat for a “hated” and “feared” dictator to perform on a regular basis. By contrast, some Western leaders can hardly spend a few minutes among their constituents – even with a massive security detail in tow – without being sped away for their own protection.

Even U.S. politicians who have traveled to Syria have come back acknowledging Assad’s popularity. For instance, Virginia State Senator Richard Black has cited internal reports from U.S. intelligence which state that, were an election in Syria to be held today, Assad would likely be reelected with 90 percent of the vote, including in areas occupied by terrorists.

Af en toe denk ik echt dat ik gek word als ik berichten of petities lees. Dat overkwam mij gisteren weer toen ik een Twitter bericht van theCanary ontving. Naar nu blijkt stuurt de Britse regering kinderen terug naar hun land van herkomst, zelfs als het daar oorlog is!!!!

Wat stelt (excuseer) godverdomme dat hele VN Vluchtelingenverdrag nog voor???? Waar is de beschaving en nog enig ethisch gevoel gebleven??

Gelukkig zijn er nog mensen, die zich verzetten tegen deze fascistoïde inhumane gang van zaken, zie het verslag verderop van een demonstratie, die afgelopen zaterdag werd gehouden.......

The government has just been publicly shamed for deporting children to war zones

On Saturday 14 January, protesters rallied through Brixton, south London. They were highlighting a government policy which is seeing children deported to war zones. And the protesters called out the government over what they describe as “modern-day slave ships”.

Secret flights and Skype calls

The ‘Movement For Justice By Any Means Necessary’ (MFJ) was highlighting the government policy of forcibly deporting foreign nationals, migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers using secret charter flights. By and large, the policy is not new. And as The Canary reported on 12 January, the UK government is also deporting children back to Afghanistan. A country the UN has described as “one of the most dangerous, and most violent, crisis ridden countries in the world”. But what is new about the government policy is who the law surrounding it applies to.

Historically, the law stated that the government had the power to deport foreign nationals who had criminal records. This was also the case if the Home Secretary thought deporting these people was ‘conducive to the public good’. This applied regardless of how long people had been living in the UK, and even whether they had the right of residency here. Additionally, no appeal to the government could be made until the person was in the country they had been deported to. For example, in September 2016 openDemocracy reported on the case of ‘James’. The government forcibly deported him on a secret charter flight to Jamaica:

"James was just four years old when he arrived in the UK. Now he is 30 and father to three British children. In 2012 he was convicted of money laundering and served two years in prison… Though James’s partner and his children are British, the Home Office can still… [deport] him from the UK. The Home Office advises people in this situation to conduct their family relationships ‘…by telephone, email or… Skype".

One size fits all

But the Conservatives’ Immigration Act 2016 changed all of this. The law now states that the so-called ‘deport first, appeal later’ clause applies to all migrants who make an asylum or refugee claim. Including children. The MFJ says the government operates charter flights to Nigeria, Ghana, Pakistan, Jamaica and Afghanistan every two months. And figures released by Corporate Watch show that, in 2015, the government deported 5,729 foreign national offenders. But it also deported 12,111 people that year who had not committed a crime.

To stop the government deporting them, people have to prove that it would cause “serious irreversible harm”. But as charity Unity Centre says:

"The burden of proof is of course on the appellant to prove that removal would cause serious irreversible harm. No mean feat for appellants who, in Unity’s experience are often without legal representation and always detained"

Essentially, the government can now deport anyone who makes an asylum or refugee claim in the UK without recourse. But it is the government’s entire ‘deport first, appeal later’ policy that the MFJ was protesting about.

Shutting down Brixton

On Saturday 14 January, the MFJ gathered outside the Ritzy cinema in Brixton. Activists from Fathers for Justice, Sisters Uncut and Zimbabwe Yes We Can Movement joined the MFJ. Protesters were carrying banners, megaphones, whistles and klaxons:

The march went through much of Brixton’s main shopping centre. Protesters were chanting “When the Home Office attacks, we fight back!”:

They were stopping and speaking to the public, and handing out leaflets. The response to the MFJ from passers-by was overwhelmingly supportive, with many saying they had direct experience of the government’s policy. The march then

Divisive government policies

The demonstration, the third in a fortnight of direct action, passed off peacefully. But it was noticeable that, even when protesters were blocking the roads, there was no police presence on the march. In a statement, the MFJ said:

"The government’s charter flights deport people who have built lives in the UK; been here most of their lives; have parents, partners and children here; students who have not finished their courses; people with serious health problems and others who are carers to elderly and disabled relatives. This is an over-reaching, racist policy hitting individuals and families that never thought they had an ‘immigration problem".

By applying this policy to anyone needing asylum or refugee status, the government is attacking people fleeing from some of the most dangerous places on Earth. And as the MFJ says, this feeds into the “false argument” that immigrants are the cause of all the problems in the UK. It is essential that society calls out racism of any kind. Wherever it appears. And that includes divisive, cynical government policies.

Benieuwd of e.e.a. ook in Nederland gebeurt, ach de vraag stellen is 'm beantwoorden, immers als je een 18 jarige vluchteling bent, mag de regering je terugsturen, ook naar landen als Afghanistan..... Landen die het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken (onder PvdA sierdrol Koenders) 'veilig' durft te noemen, terwijl men al hysterisch wordt, als hier een politieke moord passeert, of als er een land verder een aanslag plaatsvindt.......... De overgrote meerderheid van jongeren die 18 zijn, zijn alles behalve volwassen..... (vandaar ook dat het ronduit misdadig is, om jongeren van onder de 23 te ronselen voor het leger.....)

Afgelopen vrijdag het bericht, dat Diyanet, de lange religieuze arm van Turkije, sterk geworteld is in het buitenland. Imams worden door deze organisatie uitgezet in het buitenland en voorts zorgt dit net voor moskeeën en islamscholen....... Via Diyanet worden Turken en andere critici van het Turkse bewind in de gaten gehouden (en bedreigd indien nodig), ook in Nederland.............

Dit nog naast alle andere bemoeienissen van de Turkse overheid, ofwel de corrupte reli-fascistische dictator Erdogan met Turken dan wel mensen van Turkse komaf in het buitenland......... Zelfs de ambassades en consulaten doen mee aan deze breidel van (Turkse) mensen, die buiten Turkije wonen, waarin uiteraard de Turkse geheime dienst een 'mooie rol' speelt............

Met dit bericht is één ding heel duidelijk geworden, de Gülenbeweging is een kleuterklas vergeleken bij voornoemde machinaties van Erdogan en zijn reli-fascistische, corrupte kliek!!

Het is me trouwens niet duidelijk of er onmiddellijk Kamervragen zijn gesteld, bijvoorbeeld door 'christenbroeders' Voordewind of van der Staaij, respectievelijk van de fundamentalistische 'Christen'Unie en SGP. Al hoef je er niet van op te kijken, dat ze gaan inbinden, daar Turkije anders de 'vluchtelingenpoorten' naar de EU zal openzetten....... Hoewel hun jezus in de bijbel stelt, dat je een vluchteling in je huis moet uitnodigen en deze zelfs je eigen bed moet aanbieden, ziet dit stel liever in het geheel geen vluchtelingen (althans in Nederland en als het moslims zijn, niet in Europa...)......

Nederland tekent verdrag met Libische junta over de kustbewaking, vluchtelingen worden gemarteld en doodgeschoten........

Het is mij vorige week geheel ontgaan: Nederland en het IOM (International Organization for Migration, een onderdeel van UNHCR) hebben een verdrag gesloten met de Libische, door het westen gesmede junta, over 'kustbewaking'. Zogenaamd om verdrinkende vluchtelingen te kunnen redden, terwijl de opzet overduidelijk het tegenhouden is van vluchtelingen, die zich middels wrakke boten richting Italië begeven.......

De huidige Libische kustwacht zou voor 18 maanden lang steun van Nederland en het IOM krijgen, terwijl deze kustwacht bestaat uit een stel smerige psychopaten, die er niet voor terugdeinzen mensen zonder enige aanleiding neer te schieten........

O.a. volgens Amnesty International worden vluchtelingen als beesten vastgehouden en gemarteld in 'detentiecentra', daar kunnen de meeste Nederlandse politici en zeker het inhumane afbraakkabinet Rutte 2 prima mee leven, zoals ze dit ook in het geval van Turkije geen probleem vinden....... Kortom een verdere schending van het VN Vluchtelingenverdrag en daarmee van de mensenrechten......

Ik vond dit bericht afgelopen zaterdag op De Doorbraak, die het van FFM haalde, hier het artikel zoals op De Doorbraak gebracht:

“The guards would beat us if we said we’re hungry… They would make us lie down on our stomach and two would hit us with [a] hose… I saw a Chadian man, they shot him for no reason in front of me” – Eritrean man on conditions at Abu Slim detention centre.

The EU’s plans to work more closely with Libya on tackling people smuggling risk fuelling rampant ill-treatment and indefinite detention in shocking conditions of thousands of refugees and migrants in Libya, said Amnesty International today.

The EU recently announced plans to extend its “Operation Sophia” anti-smuggling naval mission in the Mediterranean for another year and to train and share information with the Libyan coastguard following a request by the new Libyan government. However, testimonies gathered by Amnesty during visits to Sicily and Puglia in Italy last month reveal shocking abuses by the Libyan coastguard and in immigration detention centres in Libya

Amnesty spoke to 90 people who survived the treacherous crossing from Libya to Italy, including at least 20 refugees and migrants who described shootings and beatings while being picked up by the coastguard or harrowing torture at lawless Libyan detention centres for refugees and migrants (see Beatings and killings in Libyan detention centres below) At least 3,500 people were intercepted at sea by the Libyan coastguard between 22 and 28 May and transferred to detention centres. Abdurrahman, 23, from Eritrea, described the abuse he endured when the overloaded boat he was travelling on – with capacity for 50 people but carrying 120 – was intercepted by members of the Libyan coastguard in January. He said:

“They made everyone get off and beat them with rubber hoses and wooden sticks. They then shot one man in the foot – he was the last one coming off the boat so they asked him where the driver was. When he said he didn’t know they said ‘that means you are the driver’ and they shot him.”
