De VS is rijp voor fascistisch bestuur, wat zeg ik.......

Democraten en de reguliere media in de VS hebben de laatste jaren aangeduid als een politiek vacuüm, de jaren onder Trump, waar men volkomen voorbijgaat aan het feit dat Trump een logisch gevolg was van een al decennialange bestaande omarming van het ijskoude, inhumane neoliberalisme, m.i. niets anders dan een andere verschijningsvorm van fascisme en mocht je daaraan twijfelen, zou je toch moeten zien dat het op zeker een aanloop is naar een volledig fascistisch regeringsbeleid in de VS en andere westerse staten......

Vergeet niet dat de fascistische partijen (en ingeval van de PVV een beweging), zelfs binnen de EU met elke verkiezing groter worden... Met de laatste verkiezingen daar is Groot-Brittannië een uitzondering, echter daarbij moet je wel bedenken dat de Tories en nu zelfs Labour onder opperploert Starmer de fascisten van  Ukip de wind deels uit de zeilen hebben genomen (terwijl de vraag blijft staan hoe Ukip het bij de volgende Britse verkiezingen zal doen....)

De laatste jaren en zeker het laatste jaar (vanwege e Coronacrisis) hebben westerse en andere regeringen op grote schaal de burgerrechten hebben uitgekleed, zogenaamd om deze na de Coronacrisis te herstellen en terug te gaan naar 'het normale leven', echter de (ook recente) geschiedenis laat zien dat het maar zelden gebeurt dat men terugkomt op genomen beleid, neem bijvoorbeeld het beleid op gebied van terrorisme. Men heeft allerlei maatregelen genomen, waarbij geheime diensten en politie een groot aantal extra bevoegdheden hebben gekregen, alles gelegitimeerd met de dooddoener van 'de strijd tegen terreur', maar deze bevoegdheden zullen op zeker niet worden teruggedraaid, ook al zou terreur een zachte dood sterven....... (en dat zal niet gebeuren)

Men maakt het publiek bang voor die terreur (dat doen zowel politici, de geheime diensten als de media), terwijl je oneindig veel meer kans loopt te overlijden dan wel zwaar gewond te raken ten gevolge van een ongeval, of dat nu binnens- of buitenshuis is....... Op grond van die angst worden maatregelen genomen waarvan het overgrote deel van de bevolking de gevolgen niet kan overzien waar dit toe kan leiden >> een totale controle staat, ofwel een politiestaat waarbij de politiek alleen nog een ondergeschikte rol zal spelen om de burgers de idee te geven dat men nog in een democratie leeft........

Als je gelooft dat men deze maatregelen terug zal draaien mocht morgen elke terreur zijn overwonnen, moet ik je zoals gezegd teleurstellen, dat zal (zoals jezelf waarschijnlijk al lang begrijpt) nooit gebeuren, zeker niet zolang het machtige westen elders illegale oorlogen uitvecht, staatsgrepen organiseert (en dat maar al te vaak tegen democratisch gekozen regeringen), geheime uiterst gewelddadige militaire acties uitvoert en willekeurig mensen opblaast middels drones, waarbij meer dan 90% van de slachtoffers niet eens werd verdacht van een misdaad, standrechtelijke executies van verdachten en 'bijkomende schade' waar geen rechter aan te pas is gekomen...... De westerse volkeren wordt voorgehouden dat deze illegale oorlogen en moorddadige acties noodzakelijk zijn voor de veiligheid van het eigen land, uiteraard een leugen van grote proporties..... (sterker nog: er wordt met deze moorden haat gekweekt tegen het westen en dat zal uiteindelijk tot terrreur leiden op het grondgebied van die westerse landen.......) Deze illegale oorlogen en ander ongeoorloofd geweld staan voor niets anders dan grootschalige westerse terreur!!

De leugen dat westerse terreur noodzakelijk is wordt door de media en zelfs 'Hollywood' tot het oneindige herhaald..... Zag daar gisteravond een 'mooi voorbeeld' van, de Britse film 'Eye in the Sky', over het opblazen van een moskee waar een paar kopstukken van Al-Shabaab verbleven en waarbuiten een meisje brood verkoopt. Alsof men werkelijk begaan is met het lot van het meisje, neemt men uiteindelijk toch de beslissing de moskee met twee door een drone afgeschoten raketten op te blazen (ook daar tegelijk een paar mannen in de moskee worden voorzien van een bomgordel, een zeer onwaarschijnlijk scenario)..... Het meisje komt om het leven door die aanval en de daders en alle anderen die betrokken waren bij die aanval waren zogenaamd zeer geschokt door het gebeuren, terwijl de realiteit laat zien dat men enorm veel aanvallen uitvoert met drones, waarbij meer dan 90% van de slachtoffers zelfs niet werden verdacht van terreur....... (voor een groot deel vrouwen en kinderen....) In de film probeert men de kijker ervan te overtuigen dat het westerse geweld, in dit geval in Nairobi (Kenya), nodig is om de bevolking daar te beschermen....... Het is dat het zo triest is, anders zou je je doodlachen......

(zo wordt hier al censuur uitgeoefend op het internet) Nogmaals de kans dat je het slachtoffer wordt van een terreuraanslag is bijzonder klein en dan wordt die terreur alleen gevoed door westers ingrijpen in landen waar het niets maar dan ook helemaal niets te zoeken heeft, terwijl de politici en de westerse media ons, zoals hiervoor al aangehaald, doen geloven dat men wel moet ingrijpen daar dit in het belang is van onze veiligheid of om zogenaamd democratie te brengen >> alweer: het is dat het zo triest is anders...... Alleen deze eeuw heeft de VS met hulp van de NAVO en dictatoriaal geregeerde arabische staten als Saoedi-Arabië, al meer dan 5 miljoen slachtoffers gemaakt of beter gezegd vermoord, als je denkt dat alle nabestaanden van dat enorme aantal slachtoffers het hierbij laten zitten ben je uiterst naïef..... (en uiteraard weten de westerse regeringen, die meedoen aan de illegale oorlogen van de VS, dondersgoed dat dit een feit is!!)

Ripe for Fascism: A Post-Coup d’Trump Autopsy of American Democracy

For the past few years, the corporate/establishment news media oft analyzed Donald Trump’s presidency in an historical vacuum, ignoring the decades-long, bipartisan embrace of neoliberalism that helped bring about his successful candidacy while focusing sensationally on his cult of reality TV personality. Such bread and circus tunnel vision misses the bigger picture. Trump, even with all his faults, is a symptom of a much larger pattern brought on by increased privatization of the public sphere, especially in the realms of education and media, which go back over half a century, particularly the past forty years. With the continued degradation of these key pillars of our society, our civic and information literacy has suffered greatly at a time when the world has become more complex, and our country more unequal. As a consequence, we have become more partisan, more divided, and more estranged from one another as a society. We argued this in our book, United States of Distraction, and unfortunately our thesis continues to ring true.

Most legacy media outlets sought to persuade voters to choose Joe Biden for president because “democracy is on the ballot” and once Trump was out of office, things would return to normal, we could all go back to “brunch.” However, this analysis overlooks the crucial realities of how we got here and, as Lau Tzu might suggest, where we have been and are heading. The “return to normal” rhetoric distracts from the reality of American democracy: it is in such an emaciated state that a more adept and sophisticated version of Trump could easily come to power. It was our infatuation with what passes for “normal” that brought about this historical moment. The Democracy Index rates the U.S. as a “flawed democracy,” which means that the elections are free and fair, basic civil liberties are respected, but there are underlying issues (e.g. the erosion of the free press and suppression of opposition political parties and viewpoints). Prior to Trump, scholars noted that the U.S. was an oligarchy, not a democratic republic. However, rudimentary corporate news media narratives concerning the so-called “coup” at the U.S. Capital January 6^th leave out crucial realities that can easily lead audiences to glean that Donald Trump and his followers single handedly undermined the American democratic experiment. To be clear, Trump as a person and as a symbol has been responsible for the proliferation of dangerous and disgusting attitudes and behaviors in the U.S. However, we have been heading here for decades. To alter where we are heading, we need to confront certain realties that media narratives distract attention from on a ritual basis.

The first reality is that we have to focus our energies on helping citizens discern fact from fiction. Trump’s behavior is unequivocally reckless, but his rhetoric would have been unsuccessful sans a significant population whose material decline, after 50 years of neoliberal policies, became susceptible to the fake news that permeates the internet. Indeed, their behavior illuminates a rarely discussed aspect of so-called fake news: it is particularly dangerous when it leads people to believe they must take aggressive actions they deem are morally justified. For example, the people at the Capitol would be heroes if there was actually well-sourced, demonstrable factual evidence that 2020 election was stolen. So too would the individual who shot up the restaurant in Pizzagate, to expose a pedophilia ring. In both cases, individuals showed concern for children and democracy, but reacted to false or incomplete information. That is to say, someone is not necessarily a bad person for engaging with fake news, but it can lead them to engage in horrific behavior. We saw this from left leaning voters as well. When it came to Russiagate, the Democrats repeatedly red-baited with the baseless and disproven claims that the Russians aided Bernie Sanders 2020 campaign, colluded with Trump’s 2016 campaign, shut down a Vermont power plant, put a bounty on U.S. soldiers, hacked the Democratic Party’s emails in 2016, and released Hunter Biden’s computer. People who engage with fake news are not bad people, but too often lack the skills to evaluate and analyze content critically.

The second reality is that those who chide Trump are often responsible for Trump. They have already extracted everything they needed from his presidency. Take prominent Republicans like Mike Pence, Lindsay Graham, and Mitch McConnell. They excused or ignored Trump’s racism, classism, and sexism to get tax cuts and judicial appointments. Similarly, big-tech companies reaped massive profits by creating a platform for Trump to build his electoral brand where his opponents could virtue signal against him. Only after Trump lost the election and threatened their business model with the repeal of section 230 of the Communications Decency Act did they oppose him. Closely related, the corporate media, even the supposed “resistance” outlets like MSNBC, who owe their increased audience size and massive profits to Trump, have recently admitted that their existence depends upon lazy and reckless coverage of Trump. Perhaps a harbinger of what’s to come is happening at Twitter. Just days after they dumped Trump from the popular social media platform, their stock plummeted by 10 percent, still down nearly seven percent at the close on Monday. These media companies helped create the need for a Trump figure to make profits, and as journalist Matt Taibbi recently noted, this is another major reason why we need a new media system, one preferably of, by, and for the public, which was the topic of Victor Pickard’s stellar book, Democracy Without Journalism.

The third reality we must all face is that Trump is a key symptom, not the cause, of declining democratic culture in the U.S. Trump would not be able to undermine the pillars of democracy if they had not already been in shambles. This is crucial to understand because a return to the “normal” politicians will do little if anything to slow the corrosion of democracy. The reality is that Trump’s fake news epithet was effective because the news media had traded journalism for profiteering, partisanship, and political grandstanding decades ago. Trump’s faux populist derision of elites found a sympathetic audience after policy failures such as NAFTA, the bogus justification for the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the pre- and post-2008 economic collapse response, and their polling and analysis about the 2016 and 2020 elections. Worse, the so-called party of the people, the Democratic Party’s (and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, or DCCC) shifted their appeal to educated elite rather than the working class, as Boots Riley recently noted. This helps explain why 100 million Americans refuse to vote because they feel that neither party speaks to their needs. In fact, “non-voters are less educated, poorer, and more likely to be minorities, single and women.”  By the 2014 polls showed the DCCC had its lowest approval rating ever resulting in the party holding less seats under President Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi’s leadership than any time since 1920. It is no wonder that in 2020, Pelosi proved to be such an effective bogeyperson for GOP attack ads that the DCCC lost seats in the House of Representatives (where she is the Speaker). If the U.S. hopes to avoid another, and more sophisticated version of Trump, the neoliberal behaviors, attitudes, policies, and politicians of the last forty-years must be sent to the dustbin of history and studiously avoided moving forward.

The fourth reality is that we cannot censor our way back to a strong democracy. Censorship, a practice long associated with authoritarian regimes, is now embraced by those that oppose Trump. Censorship is dangerous because studies show that it not only fails to stop the targeted information, it popularizes the content in what is known as the Streisand Effect, and punishes bystanders who experience a chilling effect. The post- January 6^th removal of Trump’s social media accounts saw Democrats cheer just as they had a few years earlier when other right-wing accounts were removed. We find it difficult to celebrate censorship by algorithms and technocrats, especially given the impacts go far beyond right wing fringes as suppression of expression comes with major civic consequences. Furthermore, the actions of these big tech overlords amounts to censorship by proxy considering the Silicon Valley’s wealth is dependent upon the federal government’s revolving door, loans and innovation such as the internet, and contracts to collect citizens’ data and surveil them. Censorship by proxy defined the Second Red Scare which saw the federal government intimidate industry and collude with the Screen Actors Guild, through Ronald Reagan, to develop the Hollywood Blacklist. Rather, than censor we need to cultivate a populace who are invested in the society, have faith in a more transparently accountable system, and are equipped with the critical thinking skills to effectively evaluate and analyze content. History has been very clear that this will not come about by mocking, labeling, and censoring individuals or content.

Donald Trump has helped peel back the gilded veneer of democracy in America. His presidency has revealed what neoliberalism has wrought: a post-democratic U.S. ripe for fascism. Democracy ceases to exist unless the citizenry participates in and respects the process, put its faith in and defends public institutions, accepts verifiable electoral results, and attains the critical thinking and media literacy skills necessary to make well informed and sophisticated decisions. We cannot, and should not, return to normal, as by this point we are all too aware of what “normal” has wrought.

Team Biden voor meer censuur op het internet

In de aanloop naar de VS presidentsverkiezingen heeft Joe Biden, hoogstwaarschijnlijk de nieuwe president van de VS, gepleit voor censuur van het internet, in de eerste plaats om de twitterberichten van Trump aangaande stemmen per post te blokkeren......

Bill Russo, een vooraanstaande medewerker van Joe Biden, heeft vorige week maandag laten weten dat Facebook aangepakt moet worden, daar dit platform berichten laat staan die hij misleidend vindt. Hij postte een twitterbericht met de volgende tekst: (Facebook, Ap) “is shredding the fabric of our democracy”, ofwel Facebook vernietigt onze democratie....... Het is duidelijk dat wanneer figuren als Russo ooit als president aan de macht zouden komen*, het dan afgelopen zal zijn met die democratie, door juist één van de fundamenten van democratie te vernielen: de vrijheid van meningsuiting voor iedereen........

Russo twitterde verder en stelde dat als je was geschrokken van het vernietigen van de democratie voor de verkiezingen, je nog veel meer vernietiging van de democratie staat te wachten na de verkiezingen

Eén en ander nadat tijdens de verkiezingscampagne bijvoorbeeld berichtgeving over Hunter Biden, de zoon van de nieuwe president, werd gecensureerd, berichtgeving over misdadig handelen van die zoon...... Niemand in het team van Biden vond deze censuur een bedreiging van de democratie, terwijl dit uiteraard wel zo is..... Men stelt doodleuk dat het hier gaat om bedrijven en niet om personen en er daarom geen sprake is van censuur...... ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Ja ik lach wel, maar het is natuurlijk in- en intriest dat het team van de komende president zo over democratie en censuur denkt.......

Russo stelde dat hij dit probleem al een jaar lang heeft aangekaart bij Facebook, maar hij geen antwoord krijgt en dat de democratie groot gevaar loopt...... Wellicht is Russo vergeten dat Facebook begin dit jaar nog heeft aangegeven dat het misleidende informatie van presidentskandidaten, dus ook van Joe Biden, niet zal verwijderen van haar platform.....

Nogmaals: het zijn de Democraten die een gevaar zijn voor de democratie, juist door censuur te eisen, een zaak die alleen thuishoort in dictaturen......

Jonathan Turley, de schrijver van het hieronder opgenomen artikel stelt dat hij zichzelf ziet als een Internet 'originalist' en internet 'originalisme' kan alleen bestaan zonder censuur. De sociale media bedrijven moeten zich houden aan hun originele taak, het doorgeven van berichten, i.p.v. zich te begeven op het gladde ijs van politieke vooringenomenheid en opportunisme, aldus Turley, die vervolgde met te zeggen dat deze bedrijven immers eenzelfde taak hebben als telefoonbedrijven!! Volgens Turley hebben we geen bedrijven nodig die ons beschermen tegen schadende of misleidende gedachten. De oplossing voor slechte informatie is meer informatie en geen door anderen toegestane informatie, aldus Turley en daarin heeft hij groot gelijk!!

November 12, 2020 "Information Clearing House" - We have been discussing the calls for top Democrats for increased private censorship on social media and the Internet.  President-elect Joe Biden has himself called for such censorship, including blocking President Donald Trump’s criticism of mail-in voting. Now, shortly after the election, one of Biden’s top aides is ramping up calls for a crackdown on Facebook for allowing Facebook users to read views that he considers misleading — users who signed up to hear from these individuals.  Bill Russo, a deputy communications director on Biden’s campaign press team, tweeted late Monday that Facebook “is shredding the fabric of our democracy” by allowing such views to be shared freely.

                                              

Russo tweeted that “If you thought disinformation on Facebook was a problem during our election, just wait until you see how it is shredding the fabric of our democracy in the days after.” Russo objected to the fact that, unlike Twitter, Facebook did not move against statements that he and the campaign viewed as “misleading.” He concluded. “We pleaded with Facebook for over a year to be serious about these problems. They have not. Our democracy is on the line. We need answers.”

Steve Bannon literally called for the beheading of FBI Director Wray and Dr. Fauci in a video on November 3. It was live on Facebook for 10 hours before it was removed after a journalist inquired about the video.

For those of us in the free speech community, these threats are chilling. We saw incredible abuses before the election in Twitter barring access to a true story in the New York Post about Hunter Biden and his alleged global influence peddling scheme. Notably, no one in the Biden camp (including Biden himself) thought that it was a threat to our democracy to have Twitter block the story (while later admitting that it was a mistake).

I have previously objected to such regulation of speech. What is most disturbing is how liberals have embraced censorship and even declared that “China was right” on Internet controls. Many Democrats have fallen back on the false narrative that the First Amendment does not regulate private companies so this is not an attack on free speech. Free speech is a human right that is not solely based or exclusively defined by the First Amendment.  Censorship by Internet companies is a “Little Brother” threat long discussed by free speech advocates.  Some may willingly embrace corporate speech controls but it is still a denial of free speech.

This is why I recently described myself as an Internet Originalist:

The alternative is “internet originalism” — no censorship. If social media companies returned to their original roles, there would be no slippery slope of political bias or opportunism; they would assume the same status as telephone companies. We do not need companies to protect us from harmful or “misleading” thoughts. The solution to bad speech is more speech, not approved speech.

If Pelosi demanded that Verizon or Sprint interrupt calls to stop people saying false or misleading things, the public would be outraged. Twitter serves the same communicative function between consenting parties; it simply allows thousands of people to participate in such digital exchanges. Those people do not sign up to exchange thoughts only to have Dorsey or some other internet overlord monitor their conversations and “protect” them from errant or harmful thoughts.

Russo’s comments mirror the comments of other Democrats who are seeking greater censorship. Indeed, in the recent Senate hearing on Twitter’s suppression of the Biden story, Democratic senators ignored the admissions of Big Tech CEOs that they were wrong to bar the story and, instead, insisted that the CEOs pledge to substantially increase such censorship. Senator Jacky Rosen warned the CEOS that “you are not doing enough” to prevent “disinformation, conspiracy theories and hate speech on your platforms.”

Again, as someone raised in a deeply liberal and Democratic family in Chicago, I do not know when the Democratic party became the party for censorship. However, limiting free speech is now a rallying cry for Democratic members and activists alike. At risk is the single greatest invention for free speech since the printing press.  Russo’s comments reaffirms that the Biden Administration will continue this assault against Internet free speech.  What is most unnerving is that Russo is denouncing such free speech as “shredding the fabric of our democracy.” There was a time when free speech was the very right that we fought to protect in our democratic system.  It was one of the defining principles of our Constitution system. It is now being treated as a threat to that system.

In other words, what's right for China is not necessarily right for us. First, they trust their government. Always have. Second, their censorship is publicly affirmed, practiced and constitutionally blessed. Third, their Chief Censor has been their leading public intellectual for 2,000 years, as he is today (magine Noam Chomsky as our censor). Everyone knows him and can challenge his rulings–and his explanations are usually interesting and educational. Fourth, their censorship works for them. Youngsters find it constrictive, their parents find it 'about right,' and their grandparents think its far too permissive. NONE of them find it oppressive. Voor meer berichten over Biden, Trump, of de verkiezingen, klik op het betreffende label, direct onder dit bericht.

Beste bezoeker, ik ondervind trote problemen met de Blogger interface, zal proberen vandaag nog meer berichten te posten, maar mocht dit niet lukken, alvast mijn excuus. (ben verder bezig iemand te zoeken die mij kan helpen met de problemen die ik ondervind)

Russiagate zal worden ingewisseld voor Chinagate en met dezelfde soort leugens, aldus een artikel van Moon of Alabama, door mij overgenomen van Information Clearing House (ICH). Als eerste wordt Russiagate nog eens doorgeprikt als een berg smerige leugens die vooral gebaseerd is op het meer dan belachelijke Steele dossier. Wel wordt er een nieuw licht op deze zaak geworpen door de Wall Street Journal, die Olga Galkina noemt, een public relations figuur die zaken lekte naar Igor Danchenko, een oude vriend van haar die werkt voor Steele. Deze Danchenko had haar eerder gevraagd om zaken op te diepen die Trump zouden kunnen compromiteren. 

Galkina werkte op Cyprus voor een filiaal van XBT Holding SA, een webservice bedrijf dat bekend is vanwege Webzilla en in eigendom is van Aleksej Gubarev, een Russische internet ondernemer. Daar Galkina regelmatig dronken op haar werk verscheen werd ze ontslagen. Om wraak te nemen vertelde ze het verhaal dat het bedrijf van Gubarev betrokken was bij het hacken van de Democratic National Committee (DNC) servers, al was dat maar één van haar leugens...... 

De leugens in het Steele dossier kwamen dus van Russen, maar niet van de Russische staat!! Terwijl er van hacken van de DNC servers geen sprake was, een domme leugen die de Democratische Partij 4 jaar lang volhield, ondanks alle andere bewijzen dat dit onzin was...... Niet alleen de Democratische Partij hield dit verhaal in de lucht, maar praktisch alle politici van andere westerse landen (zoals hare D66 kwaadaardigheid en minister Ollengren) en de reguliere (massa-) media in de VS en de rest van het westen....... Opvallend overigens dat tijdens de laatste grote partijbijeenkomst van de Democraten er met geen woord meer werd gesproken over Russiagate, ondanks 4 jaar lang Democratische leugens over deze zaak......

De FBI en anderen wisten dondersgoed dat het Steele dossier een fabricatie was van leugens, echter men bleef dit dossier 'voeden' met leugens (o.a. om het volk te overtuigen van de echtheid van de aantijgingen), echter de ware bedoeling was om Trump een zelfde harde politiek te laten voeren tegen Rusland, die president Obama (Nobelprijs voor de vrede winnaar.....) en vicepresident Biden voor hem hadden ingevoerd..... 

Obama en Biden keerden zich tevens al tegen China, eenzelfde politiek moest doorgezet worden onder Trump en zoals we weten is ook dat 'uitstekend gelukt....' Het vreemde is dat Joe en Hunter Biden worden beschuldigd van corrupte deals met Chinese instanties en ondanks dat deze beschuldigingen met bewijzen worden gestaafd en veel geloofwaardiger zijn, worden ze gemeden door dezelfde media die al 4 jaar lang de Russiagate leugens in de lucht houden en zelfs hebben gevoed met andere leugens........ Ook hier is de bedoeling dat mocht Biden winnen hij zich net zo fel tegen China zal keren als Trump heeft gedaan, ofwel zijn anti-Chinese politiek voortzet....... 

Zoals Caitlin Johnston terecht stelt in een opmerking van haar kant die wordt aangehaald in het artikel hieronder: als Biden wint zal hij zowel de anti-Rusland politiek van Trump voortzetten en zal hij gedwongen zijn hetzelfde te doen met China (zoals Trump aanvankelijk in die rol werd gedwongen door beschuldigingen dat hij een Russische agent zou zijn, immers Biden wordt beschuldigd pro-China te zijn met de beschuldigingen tegen hem en zijn zoon) beide partijen, dus zowel de Democraten als de Republikeinen willen dat men de voet op het gas houdt richting een echt conflict ofwel een oorlog met China en/of Rusland, beiden kernmachten........

A Wall Street Journal investigation provides an answer: a 40-year-old Russian public-relations executive named Olga Galkina fed notes to a friend and former schoolmate who worked for Mr. Steele.​ The Journal relied on interviews, law-enforcement records, declassified documents and the identification of Ms. Galkina by a former top U.S. national security official.

In 2016, Ms. Galkina was working in Cyprus at an affiliate of XBT Holding SA, a web-services company best known for its Webzilla internet hosting unit. XBT is owned by Russian internet entrepreneur Aleksej Gubarev.

That summer, she received a request from an employee of Mr. Steele to help unearth potentially compromising information on then-presidential candidate Donald Trump ’s links to Russia, according to people familiar with the matter. Ms. Galkina was friends with the employee, Igor Danchenko, since their school days in Perm, a Russian provincial city near the Ural mountains.

Ms. Galkina often came drunk to work and eventually got fired by her company. She took revenge by alleging that the company and its owner Gubarev were involved in the alleged hacking of the Democratic National Committee. A bunch of other false allegations in the dossier were equally based on Ms. Galkina's fantasies.

So the Steele Dossier that kicked off 4 years of Russiagate hysteria among the US ruling class was cooked up by two Russian alcoholics from Perm. “Gogolesque” does not begin to describe the grotesque credulity & stupidity of the American elites.

The tales in the dossier were real disinformation from Russians but not 'Russian disinformation' of the American Newspeak variant.

The FBI, and others involved, knew very early on that the Steele dossier was a bunch of lies. But the issue was kept in the public eyes by continues leaks of additional nonsense. All this was to press Trump to take more and more anti-Russian measures which he did with unprecedented generosity. The accusations about a Trump-Russia connection were the 'Russia bad' narrative that pressed and allowed Trump to continue the anti-Russian policies of the Obama/Biden administration.

A similar string of continuous policies from the Obama/Biden administration's 'Pivot to Asia' and throughout the four years of Trump is the anti-China campaign.

We now hear a lot about Hunter and Joe Biden's corrupt deals with Chinese entities. These accusations come with more evidence and are far more plausible than the stupid Steele dossier claims. Their importance is again twofold. They will be used to press a potential President Joe Biden to act against China but they will primarily be used to intensify a public anti-China narrative that creates public support for such policies.

As Caitlin Johnstone points out:

I don’t know how or at what level, but we are being played. A narrative is being aggressively rammed down our throats about China in exactly the same way it was being aggressively rammed down our throats about Russia four years ago; two unabsorbed nations the US government has long had plans to attack and undermine.

Russiagate was never really about Trump. It was never about his campaign staff meeting with Russians, it was never about a pee tape, it was never about an investigation into any kind of hidden loyalties to the Kremlin. Russiagate was about narrative managing the United States into a new cold war with Russia with the ultimate target being its far more powerful ally China, and ensuring that Trump played along with that agenda.

If Biden gets in we can expect the same thing: a president who advances escalations against both Russia and China while being accused of the other party of being soft on China. Both parties will have their foot on the gas toward brinkmanship with a nuclear-armed nation, with no one’s foot anywhere near the brakes.

It is thus assured that the verbal attacks on China, the search for new anti-China allies like the Hindu-fascist India and the dangerous weaponizing of Taiwan will all continue under a Biden administration.

Participant2943, Americans generally do not understand the true workings of American exceptionalism. For most of us it was merely amusing. Imagine being at a party and one of your friends says, "I am the most awesome person at this party." The response would be, "Sure bud... ha ha ha." The true downside is invisible as are all cultural myths. Firstly, this myth is so ingrained that it is not even questioned even by the brightest American intellectuals. With it comes the belief that the USA and its system of government is perfect. This is a trap and it resists change and advancement. Worse, every nation occupied by USA forces is not being oppressed, they are developing ways to adopt American 'freedom and democracy'. Then there is the conviction that only Americans can fix the world's problems and because the USA is so 'awesome' everything else, everywhere else is an unimportant side show. Over resistance towards "mandatory voting" Americans speak of what they imagine would happen when they could look at Australia and see what actually does happen. But they don't. And as I look at a nation without high-speed trains or affordable health care for everyone and an infrastructure that is crumbling, I am saddened. American exceptionalism prevents Americans from joining in a co-operative role. Being a bully is not leadership and yes your belief in your own superiority allows you to be a bully while masking it as akin to "parental concern". A true leading nation would aid the weak, be the enlightened, do great things, co-operate with other strong nations like Russia and China to ensure that everyone benefits. And then the entire world would admire you, want to emulate you, trade with you and give you what bullying could never give... a sustainable future of world leadership.
