Venezuela: geen westerse media aandacht voor proces tegen een geheim agent van de VS

Kwam gisteren een wat ouder bericht tegen van MintPress News (d.d. 26 februari jl.) waarin wordt gemeld dat de reguliere westerse (massa-) media geen aandacht hadden voor een proces in Venezuela tegen een geheim agent uit de VS.... Wat mij betreft niet opzienbarend, daar we al op zoveel manieren hebben gezien hoe partijdig die media over Venezuela berichten. Neem alleen al de economische situatie in het land, de westerse media en politici hebben telkens weer het gore lef te stellen dat dit aan het beleid van Maduro ligt.....

Met geen woord rept men dan in de westerse politiek en reguliere (massa-) media over de illegale sancties (zonder VN resolutie) van de VS, Canada, Groot-Brittannië en de EU, de werkelijke oorzaak voor de economische ellende in Venezuela...... (moet je nagaan: die politici hebben zich zelf achter die sancties geschaard.....) Deze zogenaamde onafhankelijke media zullen hun eigen regeringen niet afvallen, al zeker niet als het om een socialistisch land gaat en wellicht erger nog: dan zouden ze hun eerdere eigen zwaar gekleurde berichtgeving onder de loep moeten leggen en moeten toegeven dat men het bij het verkeerde eind had en dat doet men tegenwoordig niet meer..... (hoewel, er is één uitzondering*) Zie wat dat betreft de berichtgeving in die media over de illegale oorlogen van de VS tegen Afghanistan, Irak, Libië en Syrië, alle aangegaan op basis van leugens en dat weet men in die media dondersgoed, echter niet één rectificatie van de eerdere overgenomen leugens, die tot deze illegale oorlogen hebben geleid......

Matthew John Heath, de geheim agent van de VS, werd in september vorig jaar gearresteerd toen hij zich buiten de Amuay en Caroin olieraffinaderij bevond. In zijn bezit: een machinepistool, een granaatwerper, C4 explosieven, een satelliettelefoon en een grote hoeveelheid 20 dollar biljetten..... Verder was hij in het bezit van een bewijs dat hij een CIA agent was zodat hij een andere agent kon laten zien wie hij was zonder achterdocht te wekken......  Uiteraard ontkende Heath alle aanklachten. 

Eerder was er sprake van sabotage in dezelfde olieraffinaderij: in 2012 brak er brand uit in deze raffinaderij daarbij kwamen 55 mensen om het leven, uitgebreid onderzoek toonde aan dat er sprake was van sabotage..... Je behoeft dan ook niet te vragen waarom Heath zich ophield bij deze raffinaderij....... (bij het stilleggen van deze raffinaderij zou er een nog groter gebrek komen aan brandstof >> met dat soort zaken, zoals de illegale sancties hoopt de VS het volk zo ontevreden te krijgen dat ze het vertrek eisen van president Maduro.......)

De VS heeft geen woord vuil gemaakt aan deze zaak, ondanks de beschuldiging van Venezuela dat de VS ook achter deze mislukte aanslag zit, niet vreemd als je ziet dat de VS sinds Hugo Chavez aan het bewind kwam een fiks aantal keren heeft geprobeerd de boel in Venezuela te saboteren, Chavez te vermoorden, opstandelingen heeft opgeleid en bewapend en ga nog maar even door.... Volgens behoorlijk wat mensen is Chavez uiteindelijk inderdaad vermoord in opdracht van de VS, hoogstwaarschijnlijk met een CIA actie...... De VS heeft nadat Hugo Chavez in 1998 president werd, Venezuela dan ook aangemerkt als vijand.....

De VS heeft in 2019 de fascistische psychopaat en VS bipslikker Guaidó aangesteld als president van Venezuela, hij zou oppositieleider zijn, echter toen men hem 'president maakte' was hij goed voor zo'n 2% van de stemmen en nog steeds is zijn partij klein in Venezuela, de grootste oppositiepartijen moeten niets van hem hebben...... (en dan durft de VS te stellen dat het zich nooit met verkiezingen elders bemoeit.... ha! ha! ha! ha!**)

Media Completely Ignore American Secret Agent’s Trial For Terrorism In Venezuela

(MPN) — Unless you read the local Venezuelan press, you are unlikely to know that an American secret agent is currently standing trial in Venezuela on charges of terrorism and weapons trafficking.

Matthew John Heath was arrested in September outside Amuay and Cardon oil refineries in possession of a submachine gun, a grenade launcher, C4 explosives, a satellite phone and bricks of $20 bills. The Venezuelan government also alleges that he was found carrying a small coin or badge that CIA employees use to prove their identity to one another without raising suspicions. On Wednesday, Heath pled not guilty to all charges.

Situated in Falcon state in the west of the country, the Amuay and Cardon facilities are the largest refineries in the oil-rich nation, considered an enemy of the United States since it elected socialist president Hugo Chavez in 1998. The facilities have been the site of controversy before: in 2012, a fire at the plants killed 55 people; after conducting hundreds of interviews with experts and witnesses and carrying out over 200 inspections and technical tests, the Venezuelan government claimed that the evidence of sabotage was “overwhelming.”

A Spy Falls

A former marine, Heath is also widely reported to have been a CIA agent, serving the agency as a communications operator between 2006 and 2016, at which time he took a job at security firm MVM (for obvious reasons, the CIA does not confirm or deny the identity of its staff). Although MVM is technically a private company, it was founded by three former Secret Service agents and continues to work closely with Washington. According to business directory Dun & Bradstreet, the firm “provides security staffing and consulting services, primarily to U.S. government entities.” Indeed, the only clients listed on its website are American government agencies. “Need a secret agent?” begins its description of the company.

There is not a hint of this, however, on MVM’s public-facing website, which describes the organization as merely “providing extensive domain expertise in the areas of counter-narcotics, criminal and civil investigations, public safety, and national security.” MVM’s 800 employees, it states, are here to offer “professional and administrative services, … informational technology services, … and mission solutions.”

This follows a broader trend of the U.S. government outsourcing clandestine operations to private contractors — a process that ensures there is less accountability and public scrutiny, as well as one that keeps its more controversial actions at arm’s length. “A lot of what we do today was done covertly 25 years ago by the CIA,” said Allen Weinstein, cofounder of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), an organization that funds pro-American groups worldwide.

Radio Silence

One might think that a supposedly innocent American citizen on trial for terrorism inside a hostile enemy country, facing decades behind bars in Venezuela’s notorious prisons, would spark a nationwide media furor — especially as Heath claims that he was tortured while incarcerated. But far from it. In fact, there has been zero mention of the case in national U.S. media this week, including nothing in The New York Times, CNN, MSNBC, ABC News, The Washington Post, Fox News, or USA Today. This is striking, as the news was published on the largest newswire service, Reuters, meaning that virtually every outlet in the West must have seen it and could freely republish it themselves or use its material for a story.

Virtually the only Western media outlets touching the story were local news stations in Tennessee, Heath’s home state. Yet none of those outlets mentioned Heath’s alleged background as a secret agent, nor the incriminating items in possession of which he was arrested, rather presenting him as a completely innocent victim of an authoritarian regime. Few even offered an explanation as to why, amid a raging pandemic, he would leave the U.S. and go to Venezuela of all places. NBC affiliate WBIR Channel 10 was the only exception, claiming he had traveled there to gain “more boating experience,” a defense that is unlikely to convince many Venezuelan prosecutors.

The State Department, which rarely misses an opportunity to denounce Venezuela’s Maduro government for human rights transgressions, has also been largely silent over the case. Its entire comment on the situation amounts to one tweet from spokesman Ned Price, in which he tepidly asks Venezuela for a “fair trial.”

Limited Hangout

The deafening silence from Washington and from corporate media suggests that Heath was indeed in Venezuela on official business and that the government has made a conscious decision to cut ties to him, leaving him to his fate so as to not draw more attention to its own actions. Kicking up a storm of protest would entail inviting far more scrutiny upon itself and potentially losing any plausible deniability that it is not engaged in a campaign of international terrorism against the South American nation.

The United States has been carrying out a decades-long push for regime change against the Venezuelan government, supporting coup attempts, funding and training political movements, and propping up self-declared president Juan Guaidó as the country’s rightful ruler. In January, the U.S. lost its most powerful ally in the cause, as the European Union chose to stop recognizing Guaidó after he lost his seat in the Venezuelan National Assembly in recent elections.

Earlier in the year, the U.S. was similarly caught with its hand in the cookie jar, after two former Green Berets led an amphibious invasion on Venezuela with the goal of shooting their way to the presidential palace and installing Guaidó as dictator. The attempt failed spectacularly, and few of the heavily armed fighters managed to even make it to land, the event quickly being dubbed Donald Trump’s “Bay of Piglets.” Trying to defend themselves, the American mercenaries implicated a number of key figures, including Trump himself, as well as former Blackwater CEO Erik Prince. The coup plotters even claim they met at the Trump Doral resort in Miami. Then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo put out a half-hearted denial, claiming only that “there was no U.S. government direct involvement” in the botched coup attempt.

Heath’s case is the latest in a series of U.S. cloak and dagger moves against the Caribbean nation. Whether he is found guilty or not, it appears that he will be receiving no help from the U.S. government. When things go wrong in espionage, you are apparently on your own.

CIA operaties van stiekem naar openheid in handelen: het is hier wat betreft de AIVD nog erger

Caitlin Johnstone publiceerde gisteren een artikel waarin ze aangeeft dat de CIA in tegenstelling tot eerder handelen, openlijk vertelt wat het aan (illegale) acties uitvoert. Zoals de CIA een paar jaar geleden bekend maakte dat het al jaren bezig is om acties op poten te zetten in Iran en daar uiteraard wapens levert aan gewelddadige oppositiegroepen en deze traint, al werd dat er nog net niet bij verteld, is dat standaard als de CIA de boel destabiliseert..... 

Caitlin begint haar artikel door eerst te wijzen op een relatie die ze had met een sociopaat (een psychopaat die goed is in het manipuleren van mensen*) die haar zelfs verkrachtte en naarmate de relatie langer duurde dit openlijk toegaf aan zijn vrienden, waarbij hij aangaf dat zij het wel goed vond......

Hoe langer die vreselijke situatie voortduurde, hoe meer Caitlin zich onderworpen voelde aan deze ploert die openlijk liep op te scheppen over wat hij voor elkaar had gekregen en dit als een soort van kunst propageerde......  

Caitlin vergelijkt dit met het handelen van de CIA: in vroeger jaren infiltreerde de CIA in mediaorganen, maar tegenwoordig heeft de CIA een scala aan oud-medewerkers die worden aangesteld bij deze organen en daar openlijk de mening van het publiek manipuleren met het enorme aantal leugens dat de CIA in de loop van de jaren bij elkaar heeft bedacht.......

Het is hier gelukkig nog niet zover, althans dat dacht ik in eerste instantie, echter even de grijze massa aan het werk zetten en ik kan niet naders dan zeggen dat het hier nog erger is dan in de VS...... Zo worden bijvoorbeeld op de nationale radio zenders (Radio1 en 2 plus BNR) AIVD en MIVD woordvoerders met grote regelmaat uitgenodigd, die in de meeste gevallen met leugens, valse angstzaaierij en demonisering het luisterpubliek manipuleren......** En nee, de AIVD en MIVD behoeven hier niet eens te infiltreren in de media, met grote graagte worden ze uitgenodigd en de reguliere media slikken hun woorden als zoete koek, om deze vervolgens uit te venten op hun zenders als zijnde de waarheid, zonder ook maar de vraag te stellen of wat ze uitventen wel klopt met de waarheid...... Sterker nog: er wordt zelfs geen kritische vraag gesteld als zo'n flapdrol fantast in de studio zit..... Nee, het zijn de AIVD en MIVD dus moet het wel waar zijn, ook al kunnen woordvoerders in heel veel zaken niet bewijzen wat er wordt gezegd, waarvoor men de dooddoener gebruikt als zou men met bewijsvoering mensenlevens in gevaar brengen.....

Het kan nog veel gekker in dit land: de commissie stiekem van de Tweede Kamer, waar zaken die het daglicht niet kunnen verdragen aan een aantal vertegenwoordigers van de politieke partijen worden geopenbaard...... Deze vertegenwoordigers hebben beloofd dat ze niets zullen openbaren van wat ze hebben gehoord en mochten ze dat toch doen lopen ze de kans strafrechtelijk te worden vervolgd...... Het gaat daar bijvoorbeeld om geheime militaire operaties waarbij men mensen vermoordt....... Het voorgaande in een zogenaamde democratie anno 2021, wat eens te meer aangeeft dat we niet kunnen spreken van een werkelijke democratie, immers daar moet het volk alles kunnen controleren van wat de overheden wel en niet doen en dat is hier ten enenmale onmogelijk...... 

Zo bezien is de situatie hier nog een stuk slechter dan die in de VS, zoals hieronder beschreven door Caitlin, waarin ze terecht een Twitterbericht aanhaalt van Ben Norton, die op zijn beurt een zo'n bericht van Eliot Higgins aanhaalt waarin deze erop wijst dat het zo door de politiek en reguliere media (en daarmee door het grootste deel van het publiek) zo geprezen Bellingcat***, een lobbyorganisatie is voor de NAVO (en de wapenindustrie) die erop gericht is vijanden van het westen te demoniseren >> Bellingcat een organisatie die wordt betaald door Washington...... (hiermee wordt nogmaals aangetoond dat de reguliere westerse media in feite niets meer van doen hebben met onafhankelijkheid.....)

So Much Of What The CIA Used To Do Covertly It Now Does Overtly

In the later years of an abusive relationship I was in, my abuser had become so confident in how mentally caged he had me that he'd start overtly telling me what he is and what he was doing. He flat-out told me he was a sociopath and a manipulator, trusting that I was so submitted to his will by that point that I'd gaslight myself into reframing those statements in a sympathetic light. Toward the end one time he told me "I am going to rape you," and then he did, and then he talked about it to some friends trusting that I'd run perception management on it for him.

The better he got at psychologically twisting me up in knots and the more submitted I became, the more open he'd be about it. He seemed to enjoy doing this, taking a kind of exhibitionistic delight in showing off his accomplishments at crushing me as a person, both to others and to me. Like it was his art, and he wanted it to have an audience to appreciate it.

I was reminded of this while watching a recent Fox News appearance by Glenn Greenwald where he made an observation we've discussed here previously about the way the CIA used to have to infiltrate the media, but now just openly has US intelligence veterans in mainstream media punditry positions managing public perception.

"If you go and Google, and I hope your viewers do, Operation Mockingbird, what you will find is that during the Cold War these agencies used to plot how to clandestinely manipulate the news media to disseminate propaganda to the American population," Greenwald said. "They used to try to do it secretly. They don't even do it secretly anymore. They don't need Operation Mockingbird. They literally put John Brennan who works for NBC and James Clapper who works for CNN and tons of FBI agents right on the payroll of these news organizations. They now shape the news openly to manipulate and to deceive the American population."

In 1977 Carl Bernstein published an article titled "The CIA and the Media" reporting that the CIA had covertly infiltrated America's most influential news outlets and had over 400 reporters who it considered assets in a program known as Operation Mockingbird. It was a major scandal, and rightly so. The news media are meant to report truthfully about what happens in the world, not manipulate public perception to suit the agendas of spooks and warmongers.

Nowadays the CIA collaboration happens right out in the open, and the public is too brainwashed and gaslit to even recognize this as scandalous. Immensely influential outlets like The New York Times uncritically pass on CIA disinfo which is then spun as fact by cable news pundits. The sole owner of The Washington Post is a CIA contractor, and WaPo has never once disclosed this conflict of interest when reporting on US intelligence agencies per standard journalistic protocol. Mass media outlets now openly employ intelligence agency veterans like John Brennan, James Clapper, Chuck Rosenberg, Michael Hayden, Frank Figliuzzi, Fran Townsend, Stephen Hall, Samantha Vinograd, Andrew McCabe, Josh Campbell, Asha Rangappa, Phil Mudd, James Gagliano, Jeremy Bash, Susan Hennessey, Ned Price and Rick Francona, as are known CIA assets like NBC's Ken Dilanian, as are CIA interns like Anderson Cooper and CIA applicants like Tucker Carlson.

They're just rubbing it in our faces now. Like they're showing off.

Bellingcat got funding from the US gov-funded NED. It acts like an unofficial NATO propagandist, obsessively focusing on Western enemies.

And that's just the media. We also see this flaunting behavior exhibited in the US government-funded National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a propaganda operation geared at sabotaging foreign governments not aligned with the US which according to its own founding officials was set up to do overtly what the CIA used to do covertly. The late author and commentator William Blum makes this clear:

[I]n 1983, the National Endowment for Democracy was set up to “support democratic institutions throughout the world through private, nongovernmental efforts”. Notice the “nongovernmental” – part of the image, part of the myth. In actuality, virtually every penny of its funding comes from the federal government, as is clearly indicated in the financial statement in each issue of its annual report. NED likes to refer to itself as an NGO (Non-governmental organization) because this helps to maintain a certain credibility abroad that an official US government agency might not have. But NGO is the wrong category. NED is a GO.

“We should not have to do this kind of work covertly,” said Carl Gershman in 1986, while he was president of the Endowment. “It would be terrible for democratic groups around the world to be seen as subsidized by the C.I.A. We saw that in the 60’s, and that’s why it has been discontinued. We have not had the capability of doing this, and that’s why the endowment was created.”

And Allen Weinstein, who helped draft the legislation establishing NED, declared in 1991: “A lot of what we do today was done covertly 25 years ago by the CIA.”

In effect, the CIA has been laundering money through NED.

We see NED's fingerprints all over pretty much any situation where the western power alliance needs to manage public perception about a CIA-targeted government, from Russia to Hong Kong to Xinjiang to the imperial propaganda operation known as Bellingcat.

Hell, intelligence insiders are just openly running for office now. In an article titled "The CIA Democrats in the 2020 elections", World Socialist Website documented the many veterans of the US intelligence cartel who ran in elections across America in 2018 and 2020:

"In the course of the 2018 elections, a large group of former military-intelligence operatives entered capitalist politics as candidates seeking the Democratic Party nomination in 50 congressional seats—nearly half the seats where the Democrats were targeting Republican incumbents or open seats created by Republican retirements. Some 30 of these candidates won primary contests and became the Democratic candidates in the November 2018 election, and 11 of them won the general election, more than one quarter of the 40 previously Republican-held seats captured by the Democrats as they took control of the House of Representatives. In 2020, the intervention of the CIA Democrats continues on what is arguably an equally significant scale."

So they're just getting more and more brazen the more confident they feel about how propaganda-addled and submissive the population has become. They're laying more and more of their cards on the table. Soon the CIA will just be openly selling narcotics door to door like Girl Scout cookies.

Or maybe not. I said my ex got more and more overt about his abuses in the later years of our relationship because those were the later years. I did eventually expand my own consciousness of my own inner workings enough to clear the fears and unexamined beliefs I had that he was using as hooks to manipulate me.  Maybe, as humanity's consciousness continues to expand, the same will happen for the people and their abusive relationship with the CIA.

OPCW heeft vals rapport uitgebracht, VS propaganda-organen, inclusief Bellingcat, schieten te hulp

Ongelofelijk maar desondanks waar: de OPCW heeft een enorme bok geschoten met haar uiteindelijke rapportage over een gifgasaanval in het Syrische Douma, onder druk gezet door de VS werd de rapportage dusdanig opgesteld dat het Syrische leger inderdaad de schuld kreeg voor deze gifgasaanval..... Jammer voor de VS en de schunnig slappe topgraaiers van de OPCW, een klokkenluider van deze organisatie zocht de pers en deed e.e.a. uit de doeken.....

Zoals gewoonlijk heeft de VS, de rest van de westerse politiek en de reguliere westerse media schijt aan dergelijke klokkenluiders, men rept er niet over of men gaat in de tegenaanval en dat laatste is wat nu weer gebeurt met het feit dat de OPCW een vervalst rapport heeft uitgebracht. Het meer dan belachelijke en bewezen slechte 'leken journalisten' maar vooral propaganda clubje Bellingcat komt de OPCW te hulp.... (Bellingcat wordt betaald door de VS*)

Bellingcat laat simpel bepaalde delen buiten beschouwing van wat de klokkenluider naar buiten bracht, zoals een verstuurde email......

As The OPCW Is Accused Of False Reporting U.S. Propaganda Jumps To Its Help

December 02, 2019 "Information Clearing House" - An international organization published two false reports and got caught in the act. But as the false reports are in the U.S. interests a U.S. sponsored propaganda organization is send out to muddle the issue. As that effort comes under fire the New York Times jumps in to give the cover-up effort some extra help.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) manufactured a pretext for war by suppressing its own scientists' research:

OPCW emails and documents were leaked and whistleblowers came forward to speak with journalists and international lawyers. Veteran journalist Jonathan Steele, who has spoken with the whistleblowers, wrote an excellent piece on the issues. In the Mail on Sunday columnist Peter Hitchens picked up the issue and moved it forward.

Under U.S. pressure the OPCW management modified or suppressed the findings of its own scientists to make it look as if the Syrian government had been responsible for the alleged chemical incident in April 2018 in Douma.

The public attention to the OPCW's fakery lead to the questioning of other assertions the OPCW had previously made. With the OPCW under fire someone had come to its help.

To save the propaganda value of the OPCW reports the U.S. financed Bellingcat propaganda organization jumped in to save the OPCW's bacon. Bellingcat founder "suck my balls" Elliot Higgins claimed that the OPCW reports satisfied the concerns the OPCW scientist had voiced.
That assertion is now further propagated by a New York Times piece which, under the pretense of reporting about open source analysis, boosts Bellingcat and its defense of the OPCW:

The blogger Eliot Higgins made waves early in the decade by covering the war in Syria from a laptop in his apartment in Leicester, England, while caring for his infant daughter. In 2014, he founded Bellingcat, an open-source news outlet that has grown to include roughly a dozen staff members, with an office in The Hague. Mr. Higgins attributed his skill not to any special knowledge of international conflicts or digital data, but to the hours he had spent playing video games, which, he said, gave him the idea that any mystery can be cracked.

Bellingcat journalists have spread the word about their techniques in seminars attended by journalists and law-enforcement officials. Along with grants from groups like the Open Society Foundations (OSF), founded by George Soros, the seminars are a significant source of revenue for Bellingcat, a nonprofit organization.

It seems that the New York Times forgot to mention an important monetary source for Bellingcat. Here is a current screenshot of Bellingcat's About page:

Porticus, Adessium, Pax for Peace and the Postcode Lottery are all Dutch organizations. Then there is the notorious Soros organization the New York Times mentioned. But why did the NYT forgot to tell its readers that Bellingcat is financed by the National Endowment for Democracy which itself is to nearly 100% funded by the U.S. government? Could that be because the NED, which spends U.S.government money on more than 1.600 U.S. government paid Non-Government Organizations, is a Trojan horse, a cover for the CIA?

Spurred by Watergate – the Church committee of the Senate, the Pike committee of the House, and the Rockefeller Commission, created by the president, were all busy investigating the CIA. Seemingly every other day there was a new headline about the discovery of some awful thing, even criminal conduct, the CIA had been mixed up in for years.

What was done was to shift many of these awful things to a new organization, with a nice sounding name – The National Endowment for Democracy. The idea was that the NED would do somewhat overtly what the CIA had been doing covertly for decades, and thus, hopefully, eliminate the stigma associated with CIA covert activities.

The fact that the NED is doing the CIA's work is likely the reason why the NYT puff piece about Bellingcat forgets to mention its payments and also why it jumps to Bellingcat's and the OPCW's help:

Some journalists and activists hostile to what they characterize as Bellingcat’s pro-Western narratives have criticized some of its coverage of the war in Syria.

At issue is an April 7, 2018, attack on Douma, Syria. Bellingcat reported, based on an analysis of six open-source videos, that it was “highly likely” that Douma civilians had died because of chemical weapons. In March, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons reported that there were “reasonable grounds” to say that chemical weapons had been used in the attack.

Critics of Bellingcat have pointed to an email from an investigator with the organization, saying that it raised questions about the findings. WikiLeaks published the email on Nov. 23. In a response, Bellingcat defended its reporting, saying the final report on Douma from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons reflected the concerns of the investigator whose email was published by WikiLeaks.

By playing video games Elliot Higgins learned to identify chemical attacks in dubious video sequences published by terrorist affiliates. If true it is an admirable capability. Still his assertion that the OPCW report "reflected the concerns of the investigator" who criticized it is, a as Caitlin Johnstone demonstrates, utterly false:

Bellingcat simply ignores this absolutely central aspect of the email, as well as the whistleblower’s point about the symptoms of victims not matching chlorine gas poisoning.

“In this case the confidence in the identity of chlorine or any choking agent is drawn into question precisely because of the inconsistency with the reported and observed symptoms,” the whistleblower writes in the email. “The inconsistency was not only noted by the [Fact Finding Mission] team but strongly noted by three toxicologists with expertise in exposure to [Chemical Weapons] agents.”

Bellingcat says nothing about these revelations in the email, and says nothing about the fact that the OPCW excluded them from both its Interim Report in July 2018 and its Final Report in March 2019, the latter of which actually asserted the exact opposite saying there was “reasonable grounds that the use of a toxic chemical as a weapon took place. This toxic chemical contained reactive chlorine. The toxic chemical was likely molecular chlorine.”

Bellingcat completely ignores all of these points, ...

In its defense of the OPCW report Bellingcat wrote:

[A] comparison of the points raised in the letter against the final Douma report makes it amply clear that the OPCW not only addressed these points, but even changed the conclusion of an earlier report to reflect the concerns of said employee.

Mail on Sunday columnist Peter Hitchens did not concur with that paragraph:

Apart from the words ‘a’, and ‘the’, everything in the above paragraph is, to put it politely, mistaken. Bellingcat have been so anxious to trash the leak from the OPCW that they have (as many did when the attack was first released) rushed to judgment without waiting for the facts 

More is known by the whistleblowers of the OPCW than has yet been released ...

Caitlin and Peter should play more video games. I have read in the NYT that they are the true path to learning and to the factual assessment of alleged chemical attacks.

On April 7 2018 terrorists of the Jaish al Islam group ruled in Douma. They killed 40 civilians. The bodies were shown in videos along with chlorine gas canisters to pretend that the Syrian government had killed those people. The OPCW's fact finding team analyzed the evidence and found that the canisters had not been dropped from the air but where manually placed. The symptoms the victims showed were inconsistent with a chlorine attack and chlorinated substances were only found in extremely low concentrations. There were absolutely no "reasonable grounds" to say that chemical weapons had been used in the attack.

But the OPCW management, under U.S. pressure and despite the protests by its own scientists, put out a report that said the opposite. As the manipulation came to light the U.S. funded Bellingcat made a perfunctory attempt to muddle the issue. Thus another propaganda organization, the New York Times, had to jump in to save Bellingcat and the false OPCW claims.
It is not going to help. There will soon be more evidence that the OPCW management published two false reports on Douma, and likely even more on other issue. There will be a public recognition that the OPCW failed.
