In democratieën denkt men dat regering niet in het belang van het volk handelt, ofwel een voortdurende en groeiende vertrouwenscrisis.....

Zoals VVD hufter Remkes hier een tussenrapport presenteerde waarin hij maatregelen voorstelt om het publiek meer vertrouwen in de politiek te geven, o.a. door een bindend correctief referendum* in te voeren (ha! ha! ha! ha!), toont internationaal onderzoek aan dat de 'democratisch geregeerde' volkeren vinden dat hun regeringen niet handelen in het volksbelang...... (Remkes kwam overigens tot dezelfde conclusie >> benieuwd wat men daar bij de VVD van denkt...)

Ja wat een ontdekking hè, terwijl je keer op keer met je neus op de feiten wordt gedrukt, inhumane neoliberale regeringen die onder de dekmantel van democratie allesbehalve in het belang van het volk handelen (de taak van een volksvertegenwoordiging), zoals in ons land Rutte 3 er vooral is voor de welgestelden, de grote bedrijven, de financiële wereld en het militair-industrieel complex......... Om nog maar te zwijgen over het feit dat zelfs het niet-bindend correctief referendum werd afgeschaft in ons land.....* Och we laten het CPB of CBS een onderzoek doen met een van tevoren afgesproken (voor de regering gunstige) uitkomst en dan blijkt dat 'de Nederlander voor het grootste deel vertrouwen heeft in de regering....'

In democratieën als die in ons land bestaat de volksvertegenwoordiging in feite al niet meer en kan je beter spreken van een bedrijvenvertegenwoordiging..... Politici die openlijk lobbyen voor grote bedrijven, neem het besluit van Rutte 3 (waar de naamgever 'onze' disfunctionerende premier, over loog dat het gedrukt stond) de dividendbelasting af te schaffen voor buitenlandse aandeelhouders, een besluit dat werd ingegeven door lobbyisten van Shell en Unilever, waar de grootste lobbyist dezelfde VVD premier Rutte was (immers deze plork werkte eerder zelfs voor Unilever........) Dan durft men nog te zeggen dat ín Nederland geen corruptie van belang bestaat.... ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Waar men het gore lef heeft te zeggen dat er niets mis is met lobbyen......

In een echte democratie met een echte volksvertegenwoordiging zou heel het kabinet Rutte 3, alleen voor dit feit al, bij wijze van spreken met pek en veren overdekt door het land zijn gestuurd.....** Trouwens uit heel het regeerakkoord wasemt dit lobbyen voor het grote bedrijfsleven en de welgestelden (waar de laatsten zelfs de media beheersen door het aandelenpakket dat zij van de massamedia in het bezit hebben, dan wel eigenaar zijn van die media, neem Murdoch......)

Clubs als de Bilderbergconferentie (of Bilderberg Group) maken in feite uit wat regeringen wel of niet kunnen, niet mogen of juist moeten doen (zoals het afschaffen van: ontslagbescherming en andere arbeidsvoorwaarden, plus promotie van flexibele arbeid), waarmee de machtigen der aarde, de grote ondernemers, de financiële maffia, de massamedia*** en het militair-industrieel complex in feite de dienst uitmaken (uiteraard met 'adviezen' van de geheime diensten....).....

'Crisis of Trust': Poll Finds People Living in Democracies Think Governments Aren't Acting in Public Interest

"Democracies cannot afford to be complacent if they are to survive and prosper."

Democracies worldwide are experiencing a "crisis of trust," according to the Democracy Perception Index (pdf) released Thursday, which found that among citizens of democratic nations, the majority does not believe that their voices matter in politics or that governments are acting in the public interest.

Earlier this month, Dalia Research, Alliance of Democracies, and Rasmussen Global polled some 125,000 people across 50 countries, and found that those living in nations deemed "democractic"—based on Freedom House's latest index—have even less faith in government than those living in "non-democratic" states.

More than half of respondents in democratic countries said their voices "rarely" or "never" matter in politics, and 64 percent said they believe their government "rarely" or "never" acts in the interest of the public. In terms of citizens not believing their voices have an impact, Japan fared the worst, with a full 74 percent of people who said they felt their voice doesn't matter.

Caveat: While citizens of democracies may be more free to be critical than those in non-democracies, the lack of trust suggested by these figures are shocking. Leaders should take heed.

Austria, which has recently garnered international attention for the surging popularity of its far-right politicians, is the worst-ranked democracy in terms of acting in the public interest, and overall falls second to only the "partly free" Kenya. In the United States, 49 percent said their voice doesn't matter and 66 percent believe the government fails to serve the public.

Other key findings from all 50 surveyed countries include: more than half of citizens "don't trust the news they read," and nearly half "don't feel free to share political opinions in public." While citizens of democracies feel the most free to publicly discuss politics, a full 57 percent said they don't believe the news media gives them "balanced and neutral information."

"Democratic systems of governance are under severe threat, not only from foreign interference and the rise of autocratic regimes, but also from the huge crisis of confidence amongst the electorate," concluded Nina Schick, director of data and polling at Rasmussen Global. "Democracies cannot afford to be complacent if they are to survive and prosper."

As Dalia Research CEO and cofounder Nico Jaspers put it, "Right now the biggest risk for democracies is that the public no longer sees them as democratic."

The index was released to mark the inaugural Copenhagen Democracy Summit, which was organized by the three surveryers.

Niets nieuws (hé 'nog een variatie' op nepnieuws): de eigenaren van de reguliere media die de inhoud bepalen van wat er wordt gebracht aan 'nieuws', neem Murdoch wiens kranten enz. vooral de inhumane neoliberale status quo en het buitenlandbeleid van de VS propageren als zaligmakend. Derhalve kan je nog nauwelijks spreken van onafhankelijke journalistiek als je spreekt over de berichtgeving in reguliere (massa-) media.....

In de VS is het grote mediaorgaan Sinclair op een uiterst domme manier tegen de lamp gelopen: het leek de top van dit bedrijf wel een goede zaak om de belangrijkste presentatoren (zogenaamde nieuwsankers) van lokale/regionale nieuws en actualiteiten zenders dezelfde tekst op te laten lezen! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

In deze tekst wordt fake news (nepnieuws) dan wel false news (idem) aan de kaak gesteld, waarbij het duidelijk is dat vooral rechtse propaganda tot 'het echte nieuws' behoort...... Volgens de presentatoren zullen veel kijkers die hen al jaren volgen onmiddellijk doorhebben dat het hier om propaganda gaat en zoals het is bij propaganda, deze klopt voor het overgrote deel nooit en is bovendien juist fake news, daar zaken niet worden gecontroleerd......... Met andere woorden: in de strijd tegen fake news wordt er vooral juist gebruik gemaakt van.... fake news!! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

Kortom Sinclair legt met deze dwang juist de vinger op de stinkende propaganda wond...... Hetzelfde Sinclair dat rond de 70% van de VS bevolking van 'lokaal nieuws' voorziet......

‘Stuff of Nightmares’: Viral Video Shows Sinclair Forcing Local TV Anchors to Recite Propaganda

(COMMONDREAMS) Journalists and corporate watchdogs reacted with alarm when it was reported last month that the right-wing media giant Sinclair Broadcast Group was planning to force local news anchors to read from a script denouncing “fake” and “false” news stories in a distinctly Trumpian fashion.

But this horror was amplified after Deadspin compiled a video this weekend of what the company’s “dangerous” proposal actually looks like in practice.

“The stuff of nightmares,” is how one commentator described the end result, which shows news anchors “looking like hostages in proof-of-life videos” and reading directly from a Sinclair-produced “promotional campaign.”

Speaking to CNN on Sunday, Sinclair employees and local reporters said they are deeply concerned about the right-wing ideological bent being foisted upon television stations across the United States by the massive media company.

“It sickens me the way this company is encroaching upon trusted news brands in rural markets,” one reporter told CNN on the condition of anonymity, fearing retaliation from Sinclair’s management.

“I feel bad because they’re seeing these people they’ve trusted for decades tell them things they know are essentially propaganda,” added a local anchor.

Owned by a family of ultra-conservative millionaires, Sinclair currently operates nearly 200 news stations nationwide—and is pushing for even more control of local outlets, with help from the GOP*-controlled FCC. (FCC: Federal Communications Commissions)

If Sinclair’s acquisition of Tribune Media is ultimately approved, the company will own enough stations to reach an estimated 70 percent of American households, sparking concerns that pro-Trump propaganda could begin to dominate local news.

“I try everyday to do fair, local stories, some Trump-related, but it’s always washed out by this stuff they do at a national level,” said one local reporter.

BBC: propaganda-orgaan voor het neoliberalistische beleid van de conservatieven

Gisteren op het blog van Stan van Houcke een artikel van the Canary, dat op 6 mei vorig jaar werd gepubliceerd. Het handelt hier over wie macht uitoefent via de BBC, de publieke Britse omroep, die intussen gerust een gezwel kan worden genoemd, als je alle aftakkingen in het buitenland ziet, zoals die in Canada.

Op dit blog heeft u al vaak kunnen lezen, over de propaganda die de BBC dag in dag uitstort over het Britse publiek, neem de Brexit of de enorme hoeveelheid leugens over de strijd in Aleppo (en het weglaten van feiten, zoals de terreur die de 'gematigde rebellen' uitoefende op de bevolking in Oost-Aleppo....)........

The sorry facts which show the BBC has moved beyond bias, into pure propaganda

EDITORIAL

The BBC and its political editor Laura Kuenssberg are under fire this week, following local election coverage which has been dismissed as nothing short of propaganda by people across the country. But how did we get here?

Who runs the BBC?

The current abysmal state of BBC News and Politics makes much more sense when you see who has been appointed to plot its editorial course.

The BBC Trust is responsible for granting licenses to all BBC outlets and stations, managing value for money on licence fee payments and ‘the direction of BBC editorial and creative output’. The Trust consists of 12 Trustees and is headed by Rona Fairhead – who also happens to have been a longtime board member of HSBC bank.

As The Canary’s James Wright reported earlier this year:

Fairhead has entrenched ties to the Tory government. In fact, she and Osborne are old friends. Fairhead worked for the Conservative government as a cabinet office member, until being appointed by the previous Conservative culture secretary – Sajid Javid – as the new head of the BBC Trust. She is still business ambassador for David Cameron.

Fairhead has also sat on the board of HSBC directors for a long time. And what is even more shocking than her other Conservative links are claims that she was actually appointed chairwoman of the BBC Trust to keep a lid on Cameron’s involvement in covering up a £1bn fraudulent HSBC scam on British shoppers. Whistle-blower Nicholas Wilson made various freedom of information requests that confirmed that Fairhead’s appointment did not follow proper procedure. She was rushed to the position after the application date closed, with no mention of her on any contemporary media shortlist.

Her appointment does not coincide with the normal process, and many questioned why a business tycoon was right for the job. What it did coincide with was a string of interconnected visits from the BBC, HSBC, the Houses of Parliament and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to Wilson’s website where he details the scam and the FCA and Cameron’s involvement in covering it up.

But the conflicts of interest do not stop at Fairhead.

The Director of News and Current Affairs at the BBC, James Harding, is a former employee of the Murdoch Press. While Editor of The Times newspaper, he was responsible for exposing the identity of police blogger NightJack by hacking the blogger’s email accounts – which his legal team then covered up during a court case against the action. Harding has also gone on the record as ‘pro Israel’.

This is the calibre of the figures responsible for hiring the news teams, presenters and journalists who will report on matters of hacking, privacy, and the Middle East.

These are not trivial conflicts of interests. The two individuals primarily responsible for driving the News and Politics agenda for the BBC, are instead driving forward their personal and professional causes – and the licence fee payer is footing the bill.

What is the impact on reporting?

These conflicts of interest affect the reporting of News and Politics at the BBC in a very real way. In 2013, researchers at Cardiff University undertook a major content analysis of BBC coverage – funded in part by the BBC Trust. They studied the impartiality of BBC reporting across several areas, including the Israel-Palestine conflict, the EU, business and economics, and politics.

The findings revealed that:

• Whichever party is in power, the Conservative party is granted more air time.
• On BBC News at Six, business representatives outnumbered trade union spokespersons by more than five to one (11 vs 2) in 2007 and by 19 to one in 2012.
• When it comes to the Financial Crisis, BBC coverage was almost completely dominated by stockbrokers, investment bankers, hedge fund managers and other City voices. Civil society voices or commentators who questioned the benefits of having such a large finance sector were almost completely absent from coverage.

On top of this, BBC reporting of Israel-Palestine has been woefully partisan – and in 2013, we found out one reason why.

In 2013, a devastating report by Electronic Intifada, revealed that Raffi Berg, online editor for BBC News, was instructing journalists to skew reports on Israel-Palestine in favour of Israel. While hundreds of Palestinians were losing their lives during Israel’s eight day assault on the Gaza strip in 2012, Berg was emailing journalists with ‘guidance’ to maintain a pro-Israel tone in their reports. This from the report:

In one, he asked BBC colleagues to word their stories in a way which does not blame or “put undue emphasis” on Israel for starting the prolonged attacks. Instead, he encouraged journalists to promote the Israeli government line that the “offensive” was “aimed at ending rocket fire from Gaza.”

This was despite the fact that Israel broke a ceasefire when it attacked Gaza on 14 November, a ceasefire which the Palestinians had been observing — firing no rockets into Israel.

In a second email, sent during the same period, Berg told BBC journalists:

“Please remember, Israel doesn’t maintain a blockade around Gaza. Egypt controls the southern border.”

He omitted to mention that the United Nations views Israel as the occupying power in Gaza and has called on Israel to end its siege of the Strip. Israel’s refusal to do so is a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1860.”

Berg is still in his role.

All that’s left is propaganda

Recently, these two vested interests – pro-neoliberalism and pro-Israel – converged on an area of common interest: opposition to Jeremy Corbyn.

This united bitter Blairites, Conservatives and pro-Israel groups – who ran perhaps the most toxic smear campaign against the Labour party and its leader in living memory. In the run up to the local elections on May 5, the headlines across the BBC and wider media’s flagship television and radio programs was not the 1 million people in the UK reliant on food banks to eat, but the intrigue of the smear campaign.

Prior to the elections, the reporting by Kuenssberg was dominated almost exclusively by claims of crisis within Labour, providing a platform to a minority of bitter Blairites, and applying pressure on Corbyn to stand aside – or at the very least prepare to.

On Friday morning – when Corbyn’s vote had not collapsed, but increased, compared to Miliband’s general election performance of 2015 – there was no apology for the wrongful prediction. Instead, the narrative wheeled on regardless. While the SNP lost their majority in Scotland, and Labour advanced in England and Wales – this was the BBC website’s response.

The situation brings to mind the moment when the BBC’s Andrew Marr interviewed Noam Chomsky about the role of the mainstream media as a propaganda service. Chomsky was discussing the role of self-censorship by journalists, and Marr repudiated the claim, asking:

“How can you know if I am self-censoring?” Arguing he had never been censored, or told what to think.

Chomsky calmly responds, as if he were explaining the non-existence of Santa Claus to a child:

“I’m sure you believe everything you’re saying, but what I’m saying is that if you believed something different, you wouldn’t be sitting where you’re sitting.”

And therein lies the rub with the role of the BBC, and the wider mainstream media, as a vehicle by which to advance the causes of those who own and run them. There is a monopoly of wealth and power in our society which translates directly into a monopoly of the media. The result is a staggering lack of diversity and pluralism of voices and opinions in the mainstream space. The media has become little more than a monotonous, relentless monologue – when as a country, and a world, we need to be having a conversation.

Marianne Zwagerman: seksisme en de vrouw zien als gebruiksartikel, is een teken van beschaving............

Hare neoliberale kwaadaardigheid Zwagerman, had afgelopen dinsdag het gore lef, om haar BNR column te wijden aan 'page three' van The Sun, u weet wel het smeerpijpenblad van superschoft Murdoch. Nou niets mee mis zult u denken, daar kan niet negatief genoeg over geschreven worden....... Zwagerman is vrouw, zoals u al begrepen zult hebben en vreemd genoeg, zei dit keffertje dat ze blij was, dat Murdoch de 'blote tietenpagina 3' weer terug had gebracht in z'n baggerblad. Onlangs viel het besluit de pagina na jarenlange terechte kritiek te laten vallen*, maar een paar dagen later kwam deze, zoals gezegd terug op pagina 3.

Vrouwen moeten niet zeiken, het glazen plafond is geslecht, zo stelde tyfustrut Zwagerman, die niet begrijpt wat dit begrip inhoudt en zo voegde ze er even later aan toe: de emancipatie is voltooid........ ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Waar haalt de idioot 't vandaan???!!! Blote tieten (dat woord vond ze wel erg mooi, en het viel wel een keer of 5) moeten kunnen, dat is ook emancipatie, aldus het leeghoofd, die nog nooit heeft gehoord van de gore porno-industrie en het ongelofelijk grote aantal vrouwen dat daarvoor wordt misbruikt, verkracht en desnoods vermoord. Of de gevolgen van porno op mannen, die het niet 'zo nauw' nemen met de waarden en normen, als het gaat om seks en door die porno een houding aannemen, waarmee ze vinden recht te hebben op seks, vervolgens wordt dit afgedwongen, verkrachting dus........ Deze mannen krijgen door porno zelfs de idee, dat vrouwen verkrachting wel fijn vinden...... Zwagerman denkt blijkbaar, dat alleen bebaarde islamieten vrouwen verkrachten, het was duidelijk dat haar pijlen op de islam waren gericht, weet zij veel..........

Zwagerman ging nog verder: ze stelde zelfs, dat porno een teken van beschaving is en dat dit onze waarden en normen zijn........ ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

Je zou godverdomme bijna hopen..........

Zwagerman? Knettergek!!!
