Russische terughoudendheid t.a.v. aanvallen door de VS en Israël op Syrië bereikt het tegenovergestelde effect: oorlog!!

Paul Craig Roberts heeft in een korte analyse aangegeven waar het aan schort als het gaat om Syrië en het Midden-Oosten in het groot.

Syrië heeft van Rusland S-300 raketten gekregen ter bescherming van haar grondgebied tegen vijanden, maar mag deze raketten niet gebruiken als er aanvallen op dat grondgebied worden gedaan door Israël (en dat gebeurt veel vaker dan de westerse reguliere media melden) en vorige week weer eens door de VS....* Terwijl die rakietten nu juist voor dat doel werden geplaatst......

Roberts haalt Andrew Korybko aan, een politiek analist aan uit de VS die in Moskou woont en die stelt dat Rusland probeert de vrede te bewaren door geen actie te ondernemen tegen deze aanvallen en volkomen terecht stelt dat het Russische beleid door Israël en de VS wordt beoordeeld als besluiteloosheid...... Dit zal leiden tot veel meer aanvallen, niet alleen op Iraniërs in Syrië, maar ook op Hezbollah in Libanon** en uiteindelijk is zelfs een volledige aanval op Iran mogelijk (immers de meest krachtige tegenmacht is Rusland dat met haar terughoudende beleid in feite over zich heen laat lopen...)..... Kortom het Russische beleid zal tot meer oorlog en destabilisatie leiden in het Midden-Oosten.....

Korybko zegt dat Rusland met haar politiek er zelfs geen probleem mee heeft als Iran en haar geallieerde groepen als Hezbollah zich volledig uit Syrië zullen terugtrekken, althans als dit zal betekenen dat Israël en de VS zullen stoppen met hun aanvallen op doelen in Syrië. Hiermee stelt Korybko in feite dat Rusland de wil van Israël (en de VS) eerbiedigt dat Iran en de aan haar haar gelieerde groepen zich moeten terugtrekken uit Syrië........

Roberts zegt in zijn schrijven dat wanneer Korybko ook maar gedeeltelijk gelijk heeft met zijn stelling, het Kremlin de VS en Israëlische agressie niet begrijpt en dat onbegrip tot meer oorlogvoering zal leiden, terwijl dat juist niet zal gebeuren door het gebruik van de S-300 luchtafweerraketten in Syrië...... (nogmaals terwijl die raketten juist daarvoor werden geplaatst: als antwoord op agressie, of beter gezegd grootschalige terreur van Israël en de VS, dit daar het Syrische leger zonder die raketten geen antwoord heeft op die agressie.....)

Als het oké is om Iraniërs en Hezbollah aan te vallen in Syrië, zal Washington (het Pentagon en de Biden administratie) concluderen dat het ook oké is om Hezbollah in Libanon aan te vallen en zelfs Iraniërs in hun eigen land aan te vallen (wat de CIA trouwens al doet, zoals deze dienst eerder aangaf al jarenlang te opereren in Iran.....).... Het geweld zal door de houding van Rusland toenemen en de boel verder op scherp stellen en destabiliseren, i.p.v. het tegenovergestelde bereiken..... Hezbollah is de reden waarom Israël Libanon niet aanvalt en dat land verder verdeelt (de laatste Israëlische inval in Libanon was een fiasco, juist door de goed getrainde troepen van Hezbollah), echter de zwakke Russische politiek moedigt Israëlische en VS agressie aan...... Korybko concludeert dan ook dat de Russische politiek heeft gefaald en nog steeds faalt....

Roberts stelt dat het Kremlin moet overwegen welke politieke strategie het minst riskant is: doorgaan met het afvuren van woorden die geen effect hebben dan wel raketten te gebruiken die de aanvallen van de VS en Israël uiterst kostbaar zullen maken..... De makkelijkste manier om vrede te bereiken zou zijn als Rusland, China, Iran en Syrië een militair pact sluiten zoals de NAVO, waarbij een aanval op één van de vier zal worden gezien als een aanval op allen..... Tegenwerpingen dat dit zou leiden tot oorlog kunnen volgens Roberts beantwoord worden met de vraag waarom de NAVO niet tot oorlog heeft geleid.... Moet zeggen dat ik dit nogal zwak vindt, daar NAVO saamhorigheid wel degelijk tot oorlog heeft geleid, neem alleen al de illegale oorlogen van de VS gesteund door haar NAVO-partners tegen Afghanistan, Irak, Libië en Syrië..... Wel heeft Roberts gelijk met zijn uitlating dat wanneer oorlog het gevolg zal zijn van de aanvallen zoals die van de VS en Israël op Syrië, deze agressors zich wel 10 keer zullen bedenken voor ze dergelijke aanvallen zullen uitvoeren, maar ja dat zal waarschijnlijk ook zo zijn wanneer Rusland Syrië toestaat haar S-300 raketten te gebruiken tegen die grootschalige terreur van Israël en de VS........ Waar Roberts aan toevoegt dat wanneer agressie wordt getolereerd deze zal groeien tot het moment waarop men wel moet ingrijpen..... (met wellicht veel erger verstrekkende gevolgen.....)

Volgens Roberts zou het Kremlin moeten begrijpen dat 90% van de VS Midden-Oosten politiek is bepaald door Israël en Israëlische VS agenten: de zionistische neoconservatieven in Washington, ook Biden kan daar niets aan veranderen (wat hij overigens ook niet wil in feite is hij ook een zionistische agent, gezien zijn verleden)..... Israël wil een groter Israël en de neoconservatieven in de VS willen VS hegemonie in het Midden-Oosten om Israël te kunnen geven wat het wil (en uiteraard haar eigen belangen veilig te stellen).... Zonder probleem steelt Israël meer en meer Palestijns gebied en wil zaken versnellen, neem het eerdere voornemen van Netanyahu om de West bank te annexeren..... Iran, Syrië en Hezbollah in zuidelijk Libanon zijn de laatste grote obstakels voor de Israëlische/VS hegemonie in het Midden-Oosten... Roberts stelt tot slot dat wanneer deze hegemonie een feit zal zijn, Rusland kan verwachten dat Washington een opstand zal proberen uit te lokken onder moslims in Rusland en voormalige Sovjet-Aziatische republieken...... Het voorgaande doordat de VS Rusland blijft zien als een voortdurende existentiële bedreiging voor de VS, zoals VS generaal Tod D. Wolters de Russen onlangs zog eens zou hebben voorgehouden..... (terwijl juist de VS de grote agressor is die vanaf WOII meer dan 25 miljoen mensen heeft vermoord....)

Russia’s Policy of Peace Is Encouraging War

February 28, 2021 "Information Clearing House" - On February 25 the election thief ordered a US air attack on Syria that killed 17 Iranians. US and Israeli attacks on Syria have been ongoing for years with no consequences other than Syrian and Russian denunciations of the US and Israeli violations of international law.  Clearly, the US/lsraeli agenda takes priority over international law.  One would think that after all these years, the Kremlin would have noticed that and cease sounding like an ineffective broken record.

After years of hesitation, Russia finally permitted Syria to obtain S-300 missiles, which, if they are permitted to be used, are capable of preventing US and Israeli attacks.  As the missiles are never used, Washington regards them as just another bluff by a cowardly Russian government that won’t fight.

Andrew Korybko, an American Moscow-based political analyst, tries to find a Russian policy in Russia’s protection of US and Israeli attacks on Syria.  He acknowledges that while Russia officially regards Israeli and US attacks on Syrian territory as violations of international law, “it never does anything to stop them.”  He points to “the objectively existing and easily verifiable fact that the S-300s have never even once been used to defend Syria since they were dispatched there in late 2018 for that explicit purpose” as evidence that Moscow is “passively facilitating those strikes.”

Korybko postulates that the Kremlin’s toleration of the strikes is part of a Russian “grand strategic ‘balancing act’ of trying to promote a so-called ‘compromise political solution’ to the country’s conflict, one which envisions the eventual withdrawal of Iranian forces and their allies such as Hezbollah in possible exchange for Israel and the US stopping their conventional aggression against the Arab Republic.”

In other words, he suggests Kremlin complicity with Israel in driving out Syria’s Iranian ally: “the Kremlin continues to deny the SAA** the right to use the S-300s for the purpose of defending its allies from Israeli and American attacks against them. This observation very strongly suggests that Russia is pursuing a Machiavellian strategy whereby it unofficially hopes that Israeli and American strikes will result in Iran and Hezbollah’s forced withdrawal from Syria. 

If Korybko is even partially correct, the Kremlin does not understand American and Israeli aggression.  The Kremlin’s failure to understand the enemy is what will lead to war, not Syria’s use of the S-300s to defend its terrority from attack.

If it is OK to attack Iranians and Hezbollah in Syria, Washington will conclude that it is OK to attack Iranians in Iran, and Hezbollah in Lebanon.  This will expand violence and instability, not reduce it. Hezbollah is all that prevents another Israeli invasion of Lebanon and the partition of that country.  The Russian posture in the Middle East is so weak that it encourages more US/Israeli attacks.

In other words, instead of defusing the situation the Kremlin’s policy inflames it.

Moreover, what Russian interest is served by driving Syria’s Iranian and Hezbollah allies out of Syria?  Only Washington and Israel’s interests are served. Russia’s policy, as postulated by Korybko, implies that Russia agrees that Iran and Hezbollah need to be curbed. Therefore, Hezbollah can be attacked in Lebanon as well as in Syria, and Iranians can be attacked in Iran as well as in Syria.  Russia’s policy as portrayed by Korybko can only be a failure.

Washington and Israel will continue their attacks, because they know that there will be no consequences but words.  

The Kremlin needs to consider which policy is the least risky: continuing to fire off ineffectual words or missiles that make attacks costly.  The easiest and surest way to establish peace in the Middle East is the announcement of a Russian/Chinese/Iranian/Syrian mutual defense pact with NATO’s banner that an attack on one is an attack on all.

The accusation that this would lead to war can be answered with a question: why then hasn’t NATO led to war?  If war is likely to be the result of an attack, an aggressor thinks more than once about an attack.  As long as aggression is tolerated, it grows until it has to be resisted. This has been the official narrative of World War II for three-quarters of a century. 

The Kremlin could begin by comprehending that 90% of US Middle East policy is determined by Israel and Israel’s US agents, the zionist neoconservatives.  Biden’s regime is stocked up with them.  Israel wants Greater Israel, and the neoconservatives want US hegemony in the Middle East in order to give Israel what it wants.  Israel has been slowly and patiently stealing Palestine for decades and now wants to move faster.  Washington’s destruction of Iraq and Libya moved the plan forward.  Syria’s destruction was in the works until Russia intervened and prevented it.  But Syria is still partly a partitioned country, and Syria, Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, and Iran are the remaining obstacles to US and Israeli hegemony in the Middle East. If this hegemony is achieved, Russia can expect Washington’s subversion of Muslims in the Federation and in the former Soviet Asian republics.  

As US General Tod D. Wolters again told the Russians three days ago, apparently to no effect, the United States regards Russia as “an enduring existential threat to the United States”  ( https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2021/02/26/americas-absurd-foreign-policy/ ).  The inability of Russia to come to terms with this fact will result in war.

Israël gebruikte passagiersvliegtuig als menselijk schild tijdens aanval op Syrië

Rusland beschuldigt Israël ervan een passagiersvliegtuig met 172 inzittenden te hebben gebruikt als menselijk schild voor haar gevechtsvliegtuigen tegen luchtafweerraketten en zo aanvallen met raketten op Damascus en doelen in Zuid-Syrië veilig uit te kunnen voeren.....

Het spelen met levens van mensen is blijkbaar een 'hobby' geworden in Israël, dat gebruik moet hebben gemaakt van het vluchtplan van het passagiersvliegtuig dat tijdens de aanval van Israëlische gevechtsvliegtuigen werd gebruikt als 'menselijk schild'. Dit vliegtuig zette de landing in, precies in de baan van Syrische afweerraketten...... Door snel ingrijpen van vluchtverkeersleiders kon het vliegtuig koers zetten naar een ander vliegveld, om zo uit de baan van de luchtverdedigingsraketten te geraken......

Onbegrijpelijk dat men Israël door laat gaan met haar laffe terreuraanvallen, maar ja wat wil je, de VS, de grootste terreurentiteit ter wereld, steunt deze fascistische apartheidsstaat van A tot Z (en omgekeerd), een terreurentiteit en haar beschermeling die beiden tot aan de neus in het bloed van onschuldige slachtoffers staan........... 

Overigens is het zo dat Israëlische gevechtsvliegtuigen wanneer zij doelen in Syrie aanvallen, dit altijd doen vanuit Libanees luchtruim, een (oorlogs-) misdaad van formaat, waar de westerse wereld echter van wegkijkt, het gaat immers om Israël en dat staat blijkbaar onder en boven de wet en de internationale wetgeving........

Volgens Rusland heeft Israel deze laffe en uiterst gevaarlijke manier van aanvallen eerder meermaals gebruikt, september vorig jaar nog werd zo een Russisch vliegtuig met 15 inzittenden geraakt door Syrisch afweergeschut....... 

Wat mij betreft zet dit nog eens extra vraagtekens bij het neerhalen van vlucht PS752, immers dit Oekraïense passagiersvliegtuig werd uit de lucht gehaald op een moment dat Iran een tegenaanval van de VS kon verwachten...... Voorts zou de luchtafweerradar van het Iraanse leger van buitenaf zijn gestoord en als er één land moet worden aangewezen die de hand niet omdraait voor een dergelijke smerige en laffe streek is het de VS wel, de grootste terreurentiteit ter wereld....... 

Je moet je dan ook afvragen wie er belang bij had om vlucht PS572 uit de lucht te halen en je komt vanzelf bij de Trump administratie (en Israël) uit, waar de VS al lang een enorme stok zoekt om Iran mee te slaan en Israel Iran het liefst zou willen aanvallen met kernraketten........ (op zeker dat de fascistische apartheidsregering van Israël opgetogen moet zijn geweest met zoveel slachtoffers, waaronder Iraniërs......)

(MEE) — Russia accused the Israeli army of using a civilian flight carrying 172 passengers as a shield during its air strikes on targets in Syria on Thursday.

According to Russian defence ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov, the passenger plane was flying from Tehran to Damascus International Airport, but made an emergency landing at Russia’s Hmeimim air base near Latakia in northwest Syria after coming under fire from Syrian air defences.

“The recourse to civilian aircraft as cover or to block a riposte by Syrian forces during military air operations has become characteristic of the Israeli air force,” the ministry spokesperson said in a statement published by Russian media on Friday.

Israeli radars have “a clear view of the situation in the skies around Damascus airport”, Konashenkov said, accusing Israel of “making a total mockery of the lives of hundreds of innocent civilians”.

Syria on Thursday said it had intercepted Israeli missiles on military targets in Damascus and the south of Syria.

An opposition group said 23 Syrian and foreign soldiers allied with President Bashar al-Assad’s government were killed in the attacks.

Israel has yet to comment on the air strikes, but it has repeatedly bombed Iranian militia targets in Syria, which it says aim to end Iran’s military presence in the war-torn country.

Konashenkov said the civilian plane landed safely after diverting to Hmeimim.

“At the time of the attack by Israeli planes… an Airbus-320 airliner was on approach to landing… in the death zone of air strikes and artillery,” he said.

The “quick reaction” of air traffic controllers at Damascus airport enabled the A320 to leave the zone “which was in the firing line of Syrian anti-aircraft defence systems”.

While Russia did not name the airline, data from Flight Radar indicated it was a Syrian Cham Wings plane.

Last month, Iran said it unintentionally shot down a Ukraine International Airlines civilian flight in Tehran, killing all 176 people on board.

The disaster took place in the midst of heightened tensions in the region after the US killed Iran’s top military commander Qassem Soleimani in Iraq on 3 January.

Iran and its allied Lebanese group, Hezbollah, have backed Assad in the devastating nine-year war that has killed half a million people and displaced millions more.

Russia joined Assad and his allies in 2015, supplying his army with its S-300 air-defence system after Syrian defence systems shot down a Russian aircraft by mistake during an Israeli raid last September, killing all 15 people on board.

De 'Iraanse doelen' die geraakt werden bestonden uit luchtafweergeschut van het reguliere Syrische leger rond het vliegveld van Damascus en andere 'Iraanse doelen' van het Syrische leger en oh ja, men schijnt nog een schuur te hebben opgeblazen waartegen onlangs Iraanse militairen een plas deden........ (één van hen zou zelfs hebben gedrukt in de schuur!)

Bij deze terreuraanvallen van Israël zijn minstens 11 Syrische militairen omgekomen...

Lullig genoeg heeft Syrië tot op heden geen toestemming van Rusland gekregen om de nieuw geleverde S-300 raketten te gebruiken, het is voor Syrië te hopen dat Rusland zich niet langer onder druk laat zetten door de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde, de VS en haar oorlogshond tevens terreurorganisatie NAVO....... 

Israël weet dat Syrië de S-300 raketten nog niet mag inzetten, anders had Israël naast kruisraketten (van VS makelij) geen gebruik gemaakt van straaljagers, daar die raketten zonder enige twijfel de meerderheid van de Israëlische jagers uit de lucht hadden gehaald......

Israël dient onmiddellijk te stoppen met haar grootschalige terreuraanvallen op Syrische grondgebied, waarbij dit gestolen land het luchtruim van Libanon keer op keer schendt en daarmee dit luchtruim ongestraft misbruikt als aanvliegroute naar Syrië......

(ANTIWAR.COM) — Despite claiming that their Sunday night airstrikes against Syria were exclusively targeting Iran’s Quds Force, Israeli airstrikes against Syria appear to have almost exclusively hit Syrian military targets, particularly the nation’s air defenses around Damascus airport.

Israeli strikes destroyed eight Syrian air defense batteries, and killed at least 11 troops in the strikes. The batteries were mostly aging Soviet designs, the sort Syria has traditionally favored for targeting incoming Israeli missiles.

The Syrian systems had some success, too, with Russia reporting that the Syrians had successfully intercepted more than 30 Israeli missiles during the attack. Conspicuously absent from the engagement, however, were the Russian S-300 systems recently provided to Syria.

A highly advanced air defense system designed to control a much longer range, the S-300s have so far not been deployed in these Israeli attacks. Analysts say that Syria’s priority is intercepting missiles, and not engaging the attacking warplanes, which is where the S-300s would clearly be a vast improvement over the older systems.

Yet as Israel continues to escalate strikes in Syria, and is clearly going after Syrian military targets no matter what they claim about Iran. This may ultimately convince Syria that they have to engage the Israeli warplanes just to achieve some deterrent from constant Israeli attacks.

Russische diplomaat Belousov bevestigt: Rusland bereidt zich voor op WOIII

In het volgende bericht van Zero Hedge, geschreven door Tyler Durden, komt deze met het nieuws dat de Russische diplomaat Andrey Belousov, plaatsvervangend directeur van het departement voor non-proliferatie en wapenbeheersing, ressorterend onder het Russische ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, heeft bevestigd wat president Putin vorige week en eerder dit jaar al heeft gezegd, als Rusland wordt aangevallen met raketten, zal het als reactie gebruik maken van haar nieuwe 'superraketten' (S-300 raket, te snel om te kunnen onderscheppen)...... 

Aan het voorgaande kan voor ons in Nederland toegevoegd moet worden, dat ook ons land doel zal zijn van een Russische vergeldingsactie met kernraketten, daar wij ook zo nodig kernwapens van de VS op ons grondgebied moesten hebben....... (dit schandelijk genoeg, zelfs nadat de VS bekend maakte een eerste aanval met kernwapens niet uit de weg te gaan; ofwel de VS behoudt zich het recht voor om een illegale oorlog te beginnen, zoals de VS zo vaak doet, maar dan met het gebruik van kernwapens, ook met VS-kernwapens die op luchtmachtbasis Volkel worden bewaard.....)

'Leuk ook' dat de politici die de goedkeuring gaven aan deze stationering van kernwapens, bij een conflict een plek hebben in atoomschuilkelders, terwijl het volk buiten mag sterven..... Daarover gesproken: in Rusland is men al een paar jaar bezig grote atoomschuilkelders aan te leggen, waar in vergelijking en verhouding, veel meer burgers gebruik van mogen maken..... Ook dat is onderdeel van de voorbereiding van Rusland op een oorlog met het westen.

'Nog een leuk feit': de Russische oproep in de VN het INF-verdrag (tegen stationering van middellange afstand kernwapens) te versterken werd afgewezen.....

A week after Russian president Vladimir Putin doubled-down on a warning to Russia's geopolitical foes first made earlier this year by declaring that Russia would use its "unstoppable" nuclear weapons in response to an incoming missile attack shortly after US president Trump announced the US would pull out of the INF Treaty, a Russian diplomat has both confirmed (and denied) what US war hawks have been saying: Moscow is preparing for war, just in case the US starts one.

Speaking at the UN on Friday, Andrey Belousov, deputy director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Department of Nonproliferation and Arms Control, echoed Putin's comments from last week that Russia is indeed readying itself for war, but only so it can defend its people against American aggression.

"At a recent meeting, the US stated that Russia is preparing for war. Yes, Russia is preparing for war, I can confirm it", Belousov said adding that "We are preparing to defend our homeland, our territorial integrity, our principles, our values, our people."

Russia's military build-up and large-scale drills, which have often been painted in the Western media as preparations for all-out war, are a defensive necessity, he said.

Russia doesn't seek a confrontation, he said, unlike the US. "Why else would the United States pull out of the [INF] Treaty, increase their nuclear potential, adopt a new nuclear doctrine that lowers the threshold for nuclear weapons use – that's the question for us all."

Belousov's words came after a Russian draft resolution to reinforce the INF Treaty, which bans intermediate-range nuclear weapons, was overwhelmingly rejected at the UN First Committee.

"Most of those who voted against were supporters of the INF Treaty. I don't understand their position," Belousov said. Among those who voted down the draft were the UK, Germany, France, and, of course, the US.

Trump's decision to scrap the Cold War-era agreement has alarmed both Europe and Moscow, which warned it would "make the world a more dangerous place" and vowed retaliation.

Washington has accused Russia of building missiles prohibited by the INF, while Moscow argued that American missile defense complexes in Europe can be easily turned into offensive weapons. Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that if the US moves to deploy intermediate-range nuclear missiles in Europe, it will put the whole of Europe at risk of a retaliatory strike.

De bekendmaking van Rusland dat het de S-300 raketten aan Syrië wil leveren, wekte de woede van psychopaat, oorlogsmisdadiger en oorlogshitser Bolton, die het beest Trump o.a. adviseert op het gebied van de 'buitenland politiek...'

Als gevolg van het neerhalen van een Russisch militair vliegtuig door terreurstaat Israël, heeft Bolton Rusland gewaarschuwd haar aanwezigheid in Syrië niet uit te breiden met de zo door Israël en de VS gevreesde Russische S-300 raketten (terwijl de VS zelf al 2 maal onterecht kruisraketten afschoot op Syrische doelen....).  

Levering van deze raketten aan Syrië is bepaald niet vreemd als je de brutaliteit van de Israëlische luchtmacht ziet, zo maakt het 'te onpas en te onpas' gebruik van het Libanese luchtruim om haar (illegale) terreur te zaaien in Syrië >> met de S-300 raketten kunnen de Israëlische straaljagers uit de lucht worden gehaald.

Geen hond die het over dat laatste heeft, alsof het de normaalste zaak van de wereld is dat een uiterst agressieve staat bombardementsvluchten uitvoert, met als aanvliegroute een ander land, zoals gezegd Libanon........ In feite is dat een oorlogsmisdaad en zoals je waarschijnlijk wel weet in het plegen van oorlogsmisdaden behoort Israël tot de wereld top 3 (met op nummer 1 terreurentiteit VS en nummer 3 de reli-fascistische terreurstaat Saoedi-Arabië).

Bolton wenst voorts niets te weten over het sluiten van het luchtruim voor gebieden waar Rusland actief is, wat Rusland en Syrië volgens zeggen zouden overwegen na het neerhalen van het Russische militaire vliegtuig. Dit terwijl er al langere tijd geruchten rondgaan dat de VS zelf 'no-fly zones' in Syrië wil instellen, waar de straaljagers en bommenwerpers van dat land nooit zijn aangevallen door Syrië of Rusland......

In feite stelt Bolton dat er stront aan de knikker komt als de Syrische defensie werkelijk een bedreiging zou worden voor de ongebreidelde illegale Israëlische en VS terreur in haar land (terreur is altijd illegaal, maar het wordt tijd dat iedereen het beest bij de naam gaat noemen)

Het is voor de Syrische bevolking te hopen dat Rusland nu op haar strepen blijft staan en zich niet laat intimideren door de VS.

Syria: Bolton Throws Down the Gauntlet

A terrible beauty was born last night with the sequence of dramatic events taking a curious turn, following the shooting down of the Russian plane on September 17 near the coastline of Latakia, Syria, killing fifteen personnel on board the aircraft.

After a meticulous investigation by the Russian side, Moscow has blamed Israel. It has also constituted a criminal case. Indeed, under international law, a criminal act took place and a crime is per se accountable and punishable. Tel Aviv must be acutely conscious of that.

Meanwhile, Russia has begun initiating moves that ensure that such tragic incidents do not recur. As initial step, Moscow proposes to equip Syrian air defence establishment with the formidable S-300 missile defence system. More such measures are expected in the coming days and weeks.

At which point, last night, US National Security Advisor John Bolton came in from the cold and tweeted that the Russian move regarding S-300 is a “significant escalation” and that Moscow should “reconsider”. Washington has decided to make a lateral entry into what so far wore the look of a Russian-Israeli-Syrian triangle. It stands to reason that Bolton has been watching developments with an eagle’s eye all but kept mum until Russia made its first big move.

Last night, the Russian-Israeli-Syrian triangle morphed into a US-Russian-Israeli triangle. That in turn brings up the big question: Wasn’t the latter triangle the real one all along? Put differently, was Israel acting alone at all on September 17 or is it that Tel Aviv pulled strings in Washington for the big daddy to intervene since Moscow turned on the heat?

In either case, a terrible beauty is born, as Bolton’s crisp, cryptic wording underlines. He didn’t elaborate what he meant by “significant escalation” and, equally, he left a challenge vaguely suspended in the air by calling for a Russian rethink on the S-300 decision. Importantly, Bolton’s tweet ignored Moscow’s clarification at the highest level on Monday that the Russian motivation is principally to “avert any potential threat” to the lives of Russian personnel deployed to Syria.

Simply put, what emerges from Bolton’s tweet is that any Russian moves towards the “significant” strengthening of the Syrian capability to deter aggression or closing the Syrian air space in regions where Russian personnel are deployed will not find favor with Washington. This is a curious stance, to say the least. Especially when there are strong and persistent rumors that the US is also feverishly working to establish a “no-fly zone” in northeastern Syria that might possibly cover a big swathe of territory stretching from Manbij in Aleppo province to Deir Ezzor bordering the Euphrates, and that an advanced air defence and radar system has already been established near the Turkish border with northern Syria’s Ayn al-Arab (also known as Kobani), held by Kurdish groups. This is, by the way, despite the fact that the ISIS is not known to possess any capability to stage air attacks.

That is to say, one the one hand, US is establishing an air defence system to protect its Kurdish allies in Syria from attacks while on the other hand, it is contesting any Russian move to strengthen the deterrent capability of the Syrian government against Israeli air attacks. What is the game plan?

The US strategy in Syria has phenomenally evolved through the past one-year period from the professed agenda of fighting terrorism to shaping the political future of Syria. The US has all but acknowledged its intention to keep an open-ended presence in Syria. President Trump no longer talks about a withdrawal of US troops from Syria. Alongside, Washington has also reopened the regime agenda in Syria.

All in all, it must be understood very clearly that the US not only refuses to accept defeat in the Syrian conflict, which it engineered some 7 years ago, but is determined to be the winner, and will use all power at its disposal to reach that desired goal. This means that the Washington expects Moscow not to stand in the way of the Pentagon’s action plan to degrade the Syrian government forces to a point where they stood in a priori history in mid-2015 before the Russian intervention.

Enter Israel. The US-Israeli congruence in the above project does not need elaboration, because a regime change in Syria and the potential dismemberment of that country could guarantee that Israel’s illegal occupation of the Golan Heights will never be challenged on the ground, leaving the Trump administration a free hand to accord international legitimacy to that occupation as part of any “Syrian settlement”.

Suffice to say, Russia is the proverbial dog in the Syrian manger. Iran’s presence in Syria is more of a nuisance that can be tackled separately by Israel, but so long as Russian aerospace capabilities provide cover for the Syrian government forces, the US and Israel run into headwinds in demolishing them systematically for advancing the regime change project.

The logical conclusion of the US-Israeli project lies in the removal of the Russian bases from Syrian territory. Neither the US nor Israel can countenance a military presence superior to Israel’s in the entire Middle East region. The actual Russian deployment to Syria may not be big, but Israel is very well aware that Russia has vast strategic depth, which it cannot hope to match.

The bottom line is that so long as Russia has a strategic presence in the Middle East, Israel cannot regain its military dominance in the region. And time doesn’t work in Israel’s favour, either. Iran is rising and Turkey remains unfriendly. The sooner things get done, the better for Israel – preferably while Trump remains in office.

Clearly, Bolton has thrown down the gauntlet. The tragic incident of September 17 cannot be viewed in isolation.

Ach ja, zo worden we dag na dag besodemieterd door de reguliere (massa-) media, die daarnaast het gore lef hebben te klagen over 'fake news' (nepnieuws) op de sociale media...... E.e.a. terwijl ze zelf het meest gevaarlijke nepnieuws brengen, neem de aanloop tot de illegale oorlogen en het nepnieuws dat werd en wordt gebracht tijdens die illegale oorlogen van de VS tegen Afghanistan, Irak, Libië en zoals hierboven beschreven Syrië...... (om nog maar te zwijgen over de ronduit anti-Russische propaganda aangaande Oekraïne en De Krim, alles gebaseerd op leugens...)

Rusland wil Syrië nieuwe antiraketsysteem leveren tegen aanvallen van derden, de reden voor geheim bezoek van VS commandant aan Israël......

De aanval van de VS, GB en Frankrijk, als reactie op 'een gifgasaanval van het Syrische leger' tegen de stad Douma, blijkt niet alleen totaal illegaal te zijn (en dat weer niet alleen vanwege het feit dat er geen gifgasaanval werd gepleegd op die stad), maar deze actie was ook nog eens totaal contraproductief....

Dat zit zo: Rusland overweegt als reactie op die laatste aanval haar S-300 defensie raketten te leveren aan Syrië.... Deze raketten hebben een groot bereik en kunnen bijvoorbeeld de illegale aanvallen van Israël (intussen meer dan 100 aanvallen en stuk voor stuk oorlogsmisdaden) tegen Syrische doelen worden voorkomen. Deze raketten zouden Israëlische toestellen al in het Libanees luchtruim uit kunnen schakelen...... (ook die laffe manier van aanvallen via het luchtruim van een ander land, is een grove schending van internationaal recht, immers Israël begeeft zich illegaal in Libanees luchtruim, alweer een enorme oorlogsmisdaad van terreurstaat Israël......). 

Ofwel Syrië wordt door deze illegale aanval straks veel beter beschermd tegen dit soort illegale aanvallen, of die nu van van de fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël komen, dan wel van terreurentiteiten VS, GB en Frankrijk (of andere NAVO landen). Ik noem die laatste landen, daar deze de aanval openden met kruisraketten, die laag kunnen vliegen om detectie te voorkomen, echter ook met deze verdedigingsraketten kunnen kruisraketten van de VS, GB en Frankrijk (en anderen) uit de lucht worden gehaald, of ter plekke het lanceerplatform (schepen, vliegtuigen, of lanceerplatforms op land) vernietigen dat laatste hoorde ik onlangs op WDR..... Al moet gezegd worden dat ook zonder de nieuwe Russische raketten, het merendeel van de afgeschoten kruisraketten werd vernietigd, voordat het doel werd bereikt!

Het is te hopen dat Rusland deze S-300 raketten levert aan Syrië zodat er een eind kan worden gemaakt aan de westerse en Israëlische terreur in Syrië. Volgens het Russische dagblad Kommersant is de (gratis) levering van het S-300 raketsysteem een feit en worden er al onderdelen afgeleverd in Syrië, iets dat de Syrische regering ontkent, men zou hier nog een besluit over willen nemen. Reuters citeerde Lavrov die stelde dat zowel de Russische als de Syrische autoriteiten nog niet hebben beslist over een definitieve levering van dit defensie systeem.

De corrupte en psychopathische massamoordenaar in de persoon van de Israëlische premier Netanyahu, heeft al aangegeven dat met de levering van het S-300 raketsysteem aan Syrië (alweer) een spreekwoordelijke rode lijn zal worden overschreden en dat Israël daarop actie zal ondernemen.......

Niet vreemd dus dat de commandant van de VS terreurtroepen, in deze van CENTCOM, Joseph Votel terreurstaat Israël in het geheim bezocht, immers dit raketsysteem is ook een gevaar voor het agressieve VS leger in de regio......

Commander of US Troops in Syria Makes “Secret and Unprecedented” Visit to Israel

(ZHE) — Increasingly it appears that the recent US coalition missile strikes on Syria have utterly backfired: instead of weakening Syria or degrading its military capabilities, the attack may have actually served to strengthen Syria’s defenses.

Since the massive strike which involved the US, UK, and France launching over 100 cruise missiles, Russia is rumored to be moving forward on delivery of its advanced S-300 missile defense system, which would be a monumental upgrade allowing Syrian defenses to far surpass current capabilities which utilize the Soviet-made S-125 and S-200 air defense systems.

Crucially, S-300s have a range of up to 150-200 kilometers (or 120 miles), bringing Syrian deterrent reach easily to within Lebanese airspace (as Israel has routinely struck targets inside Syria while firing over “neutral” Lebanese airspace in recent years), and could even extend airspace coverage into Israel itself.

Could this be the reason for some major behind-the-scenes diplomatic scrambling?

On Monday VOA News chief White House correspondent Steve Herman announced that US CENTCOM commander General Joseph Votel is in the midst of “a secret and unprecedented visit to Israel.”

Knowledge of the “secret” visit was based on exclusive footage broadcast by Israel’s Kann News, which first reported, “the commander of the American Central Command arrived for the first time to Israel, and met with senior security officials, including the Chief of Staff.”

No doubt the potential for what weapons experts have commonly described as the “exceptionally advanced” Russian-supplied S-300 in Israel’s backyard is making Tel Aviv and its allies nervous. Israel has repeatedly called delivery of the S-300s a “red line” for which it would act, however, plans for just such a scenario could be hastening.

Early Monday morning Israel’s Channel 10 senior diplomatic correspondent broke the following, subsequently confirmed in the Times of Israel and Reuters:

Russian newspaper Kommersant reports that Russia might deliver S-300 anti aircraft missiles to Syria in the very near future in order to defend Damascus & Strategic Syrian army bases from Israel & U.S. airstrikes.

Kommersant reported Russia will give the S-300 missiles to Syria for free from Russian army supplies as part of its military assistance to Syria. This way the delivery could be done very quickly.

Russian military sources said parts of the S-300 will be delivered soon to Syria via cargo planes or Russian navy ships. Until Syrian officers will be trained to operate the system it will be operated by Russian military experts in coordination with the Syrian army.

According to Kommersant Russia believes that delivering the system will stabilize the situation in Syria and deter Israel and the U.S. from continuing its airstrikes in Syria. Russian sources said that if Israel attacks the missiles the results would be catastrophic.

Though still being hotly debated and contested among analysts, Syria’s over 30-year old current deterrent system appears to have performed well, likely stunning the West and neighboring Israel (which itself played a part in the coalition attack) as it reportedly shot down 71 of the 103 cruise missiles, according to official Russian and Syrian government sources. 

As we previously described, Pentagon officials have vehemently denied that their “nice and new and smart” cruise missiles were actually shot down, and Russia now further claims to be in possession of at least two non-detonated coalition missiles. Most Western media reports continue to assert that Syrian missile defense failed to shoot down a single inbound missile. Notably, the Pentagon has been careful in all statements to say Russia’s S-300 system (currently present aboard Russian battleships in the Mediterranean) did not engage.

However, there are other possibilities that the coalition’s missiles simply failed in reaching their targets in some instances without intercept by Syrian defenses, or even that advanced Russian air defense Electronic Counter Measures (ECM) may have been in play.

But one doesn’t need to take the Russian Defense Ministry’s word for it. It is entirely possible and even likely that Russian intercept claims are inflated, yet that there were a number of intercepts that night was also reported by several important outside sources, including by Syrian pro-rebel media, foremost being the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), which has for years been a chief go-to source for all mainstream reporting on Syria (though ironically when SOHR contradicts the mainstream media, such as in this case, its numbers are ignored).

SOHR reported, based on “several intersected sources” on the ground, that “the number of missiles that were downed exceeded 65.” That anti-Assad/anti-Russia pro-rebel SOHR is saying this is hugely significant, and is consistent with Russia’s claim.

But all of this will perhaps quickly become a moot point if Russia does indeed deliver the S-300 system to Syria after warning immediately on the heels of the US-led strike, that there would be consequences.

On the very morning after the US strike took place, Russia’s first deputy chief of staff, Sergei Rudskoi, said Russia would “reconsider” whether to supply the air defenses to Assad – an issue previously thought dead as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had reportedly successfully lobbied President Putin against the possibility in 2013.

Netanyahu was quoted at the time as saying of the S-300 system, “We’ll destroy your missiles if you deliver them to Assad” – a warning which has recently been repeated in the form of an Israeli “red line”. However, Russian military sources have this week been quoted in the Times of Israel as saying: if Israel tried to destroy the anti-aircraft batteries—as analysts have indicated Israel likely would—it would be “catastrophic for all sides.”

But on Monday, Reuters reported that no decision had been made on S-300 delivery to Syria, citing Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who said, “We’ll have to wait to see what specific decisions the Russian leadership and representatives of Syria will take.” Lavrov added, “There is probably no secret about this and it can all be announced (if a decision is taken).”

However, given Israel’s past history of “strike first” in Syria and negotiate later, we could witness missiles flying before any official announcement takes place.
