'Deal of the Century' niet genoeg voor Israël dat dit meer dan belachelijke verdrag nu al schendt

Ja, je weet niet wat je ziet als je op Mondoweiss leest dat het meer dan achterlijke 'verdrag', gesloten tussen Israël en de VS, genoemd 'Deal of the Century', niet genoeg is voor Israël, dit gestolen land schendt zelfs dit eenzijdige verdrag door een nederzetting toe te staan op gebied dat volgens het 'verdrag' aan de Palestijnen moet toekomen......

Daarover gesproken, Palestijnen: hoe kan je van een verdrag spreken als één van de twee partijen (waar het in feit om gaat) niet mee mag doen aan de besprekingen die tot dit verdrag hebben geleid?? Het is dan ook een verdrag van de 2 terreurstaten VS en Israël die eigenlijk maar 1 ding willen: alle Palestijnen het land uitschoppen..... Het voorliggende 'verdrag' zal bij uitvoering zorgen voor nog meer ellende onder de Palestijnen en gegarandeerd dat een fiks aantal van hen zal vluchten, want dat is de laatste mogelijkheid als je het leven onmogelijk wordt gemaakt....... Je kan dit Israëlische beleid, het leven van Palestijnen onmogelijk maken, een beleid dat overigens al bestaat vanaf 1948, niet anders noemen dan een langzame etnische zuivering...... 

De brutaliteit van de fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël kent dan ook geen grenzen meer, zelfs dit wurgverdrag is niet genoeg voor de massamoordenaars die Israël besturen..... Ongelofelijk dat alle westerse landen het laten afweten als het om het verdrukte Palestijnse volk gaat, daarbij vergeleken is Assad, die in de reguliere westerse media als bloedig dictator bekend staat, nog maar een beginneling...... (overigens moet ik daaraan toevoegen dat Assad ten onrechte wordt afgeschilderd als bloedig dictator, klik voor meer berichten over Assad en Syrië op één van deze labels, direct onder dit bericht)

Believe it or not, Trump's 'Deal of the Century' wasn't one-sided enough for Israel

On March 2, Israel will have its third parliamentary election in less than a year. The reason Israelis will go to the poll for a third time in a year is because Israel’s peculiar brand of “democracy” really is nothing of the sort. Why? Because the votes of Palestinian citizens of Israel simply don't count

As I’ve written here several times before, in almost any other functioning democracy, parties in the same predicament as Likud and Blue & White would be courting the Joint List with amazing offers in order to form a government. But in Israel the party that got the third largest number of votes in the last election is shunned because to caucus with it is seen as an affront to “Jewish democracy.” Yet it’s worse, not only will the main parties not

cooperate with the Joint List but senior members of Blue & White (the so-called more centrist party*) openly brag about how killing Palestinians is virtuous. Funny how you don’t hear about this in the New York Times’ coverage of the elections.

Remember the “peace plan” Trump unveiled a few weeks ago? Well, as absurdly one-sided it was, it seems it wasn’t even one-sided enough for Israel. In fact, Israel has announced plans for a new settlement on land that was togo to a Palestinian Bantustan. I wonder if this signals Israeli rejection of Trump’s plan of the century?

Bernie Sanders wordt door communistenjagers gesaboteerd in zijn campagne

Op CounterPunch een artikel geschreven door Dave Lindorff over Bernie Sanders en wat je gerust een haat-campagne door de VS massamedia tegen hem kan noemen, een campagne die moet voorkomen dat Sanders in het Witte Huis belandt.... Bloomberg, één van de Democratische kandidaten, doet alleen mee om te voorkomen dat Sanders inderdaad in het genoemde huis kan plaatsnemen als president van de VS..... (van 2001 tot 2018 was Bloomberg zelfs Republikein en men stelt terecht dat hij terugkeerde in de Democratische Partij om te voorkomen dat Sanders de verkiezingen zou winnen....*)

De voorverkiezing in Iowa is volgens Lindorff een fiasco geworden door machinaties in de Democratische partij van figuren die Sanders niet lusten...... Iowa waar in feite is nog steeds niet bekend is wie echt heeft gewonnen, ook al weet men dat Sanders de meeste stemmen wist te verzamelen..... 

Lindorff betoogt terecht dat socialisme niet haaks staat op democratie, maar in feite 2 kanten van dezelfde munt zijn. Socialisme is niet hetzelfde als communisme 'zoals we hebben gezien in de Sovjet-Unie en China, zo concludeert Lindorff, waar ik aan toe zou willen voegen dat de situatie in de Sovjet-Unie niets met communisme van doen had, zoals de Chinese maatschappij niets met communisme te maken had en heeft. Beide landen werden (en wat China betreft wordt) geregeerd als een politiestaat ofwel dictatuur.......

De VS kan je in feite geen democratie meer noemen, de verschillende administraties die elkaar opvolgen bedienen vooral de super welgestelden en eventueel hun grote bedrijven...... Waar de reguliere (massa-) media in de VS Sanders afmaken als een communist die eenmaal aan de macht tegenstanders zal laten executeren, ofwel deze media maken van Sanders een 'communistisch monster' en dat middels leugens, verdraaiingen, fake news (nepnieuws), propaganda en vooral door haat en angst te zaaien (tegen/voor deze politicus).....

Lees het (soms ook humoristische) artikel van Lindorff en verbaas je, zoals ik, over de smerige machinaties in de VS, een 'land' dat zegt overal democratie te willen brengen (door landen plat te bombarderen) en zelf in feite al lang geen democratie meer is, niet alleen daar het grote geld uitmaakt wie de verkiezingen wint, maar ook door alle belemmeringen die arme en/of gekleurde burgers moet beletten te gaan stemmen........

Sanders wordt niet alleen in de VS pers onderuitgehaald, maar ook in de rest van het westen laten mediaorganen weten dat ze hem niet lusten, vanmorgen nog 'een mooi voorbeeld' in het megasuffe MAX Nieuwsweekend, waar leeghoofden Willem Post ('Amerika deskundige') en presentator de Bie hem wegzetten als een gevaarlijke halve zool; later wellicht meer over dit meer dan belachelijke gesprek op Radio1)

De wereld snakt naar rust en stabiliteit, zaken die je niet krijgt als Trump een tweede termijn mag dienen, hetzelfde is het geval met figuren als de Democraten Buttigieg en Bloomberg aan de macht....... Laten we hopen dat Sanders de voorverkiezingen en uiteindelijk het presidentschap van de VS wint, echter ik vrees dat dit niet zal gebeuren en het is zeker dat wanneer dit mislukt, de media, de grote bedrijven en de plutocraten (of oligarchen, wat je wilt) daar verantwoordelijk voor zijn......

The Red-Baiting of Bernie Sanders Has Begun and is Already Becoming Laughable

With Bernie Sanders now having won New Hampshire (and probably Iowa, where he won the popular vote) and confirmed his position as the frontrunner for president in the Democratic Party primaries (the New York Times’ poll guru Nate Silver is giving him a better than 40% chance of gaining enough delegates by the end of the primary season to win the nomination on the all-important first ballot at the National Convention in July), it’s becoming open season on socialism and its more anodyne relative democratic socialism.

A few days ago, right-wing columnist Marc Thiessen, writing in my local paper, the Philadelphia Inquirer, mocked the catastrophic mess of the Iowa Democratic Caucus, where there is still, six days after the voting, no clear decision on who won, Sanders or Pete Buttigieg, blaming the fiasco on “the same brilliant minds who came up with Medicare-for-All and the ‘Green New Deal.’”  His conclusion, “The Democrats’ failure in Iowa stemmed from the same fundamental flaw that has caused socialism to fail (sic) wherever it is tried — the hubris of a tiny cadre whose grand visions and lack of humility far exceed their ability to deliver.”

Thiessen’s thesis fails on a number of factual grounds, of course. First of all, the failure of the Iowa Caucus was not the work of socialists at all or of the Sanders campaign. In fact the self-described social democrat in that race, Bernie Sanders, was the victim of the foul-up (if that is what it was and not sabotage). It was the work of neoliberal veterans of the 2016 Clinton campaign and the earlier Obama years who had teamed up to found a tech company, Shadow Inc., which got contracted by the neoliberal Democratic National Committee in secret to create a totally unneeded smartphone-based app for counting and tracking the votes in state caucuses and primaries. The app was so poorly designed, so untested, and was presented so late and with no training to Iowa caucus workers that it failed stunningly, even awarding delegates to the wrong candidates. This has led experts to conclude that it may be impossible to find out who really won the Iowa delegate count.  

What is clear and unarguable is that Sanders won the popular vote, both on the first round of voting, and on the second when supporters of losing candidates were allowed to shift their vote to their second-favorite top-tier candidate.

What Thiessen should have said was “The same brilliant minds in the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) who stole the primary from Bernie Sanders in 2016 are trying to do it again.”

But he couldn’t say that because he was so eager to tar “socialism” with the blame. He even linked the alleged “socialist” fiasco to Soviet Russia, citing a Soviet-era joke about it taking 10 years to get delivery of a car after purchase.. Of course that would have ruined his plan to use the cock-up as an opening to besmirch “socialism.”

Thiessen’s not alone, though, in his willful ignorance about socialism — or in his willingness to lie about its reality in countries where its virtues have been practiced for over half a century.

For another example of how luridly ignorant and dishonest the media and the political opponents of socialist ideas are in this intellectual backwater of reaction we rather ironically call the United States, take the MSNBC talking-head host, Chris Matthews. Speaking on an MSNBC panel after last Thursday evening’s New Hampshire Democratic candidates’ debate, Matthews opined that if Sanders were to win the presidency, he would end up establishing a dictatorship and start having his opponents shot.

Even his co-panelists were aghast it the absurdity of this claim, but Matthews doubled down saying, “I believe if Castro and the reds had won the Cold War there would have been executions in Central Park and I might have been one of the ones getting executed,” adding, ”I don’t know who Bernie Sanders supports over these years, I don’t know what he means by socialism.”

Fellow MSNBC host Chris Hayes noted that Sanders frequently cites the decidedly peaceful democratic nation of Denmark, which boasts such socialist-inspired policies as government-run health insurance, free college, government-owned public transit and expansive paid maternity/paternity leave. To that Matthews replied combatively, “How do you know that? Has he said that?”

Well, yes, countless numbers of times, Chris, but maybe it doesn’t get reported on your network.

This is, I’m afraid, only the start. So propagandized has the US been by almost a century of lurid anti-Communist and anti-socialist red-baiting in our schools, our media and in the rhetoric of our political duopoly of pro-capitalist parties that all too many Americans unthinkingly accept and parrot this kind of ignorant nonsense. People don’t even realize that our own excellently run Veterans Health Care system is a purely socialist example of a UK-style National Health System (NHS), government-owned with doctors on salary, or that our Medicare program is a socialist-style, single-payer government-run health insurance program like Canada’s. You just have to be old or disabled to qualify for it.

Look at Trump’s vow in his State of the Union rant, to “never allow socialism” to “take over” the United States. Think I’m paranoid?  Look at how MSNBC commentator Jake Johnson (supposedly a political scientist professor!) freaked out when Bernie Sanders spokeswoman Nina Turner referred to Democratic Primary late buy-in candidate Mike Bloomberg, $60-billion former mayor of NY City and world’s 12th-richest person, an “oligarch.”  Johnson called her word choice “unfair and inaccurate” and added that the word had “implications in this country that I think are unfair and unreasonable.”

In other words, to people like Johnson, it’s countries like Russia, Ukraine, Byelorus and maybe China that have “oligarchs,”  but not the US, where we instead have “billionaires” whom we often refer to euphemistically as “philanthropists” because they donate a small portion of their year’s profits to charities of one kind or another.

Turner argues there is little or no difference. “Buying his way into the primaries” which Bloomburg, who is bypassing all the early contests while spending so far over $350 million on advertising and on hiring paid ‘influencers’ to promote his brand, is doing, she argued, makes him an “oligarch.”

This is the problem in a nutshell: The harsh reality is that the US today has among the most extreme wealth and income gaps in the world — indeed in the history of mankind. Our government — and this has been documented — is today almost totally responsive only to the needs and wishes of the wealthy and their corporations, whose lobbyists, it turns out, actually write most of the legislation that gets passed into law by Congress. The rich, who are for the most part beyond the law, pay little or nothing in taxes, shift their profits and wealth abroad to off-shore banking shelters with impunity, and legally bribe the members of Congress and the candidates for the presidency as well as their cabinet officers with what are called “campaign contributions,” free trips on corporate jets to exotic resorts, and promises of lucrative do-nothing positions on corporate boards after they leave their political jobs as errand-boys and girls for the rich and powerful.

So let’s take a look for the uneducated, ignorant and propagandized at what socialism and democratic socialism actually mean in the real world.

Socialism is for starters fundamentally democratic (democratic socialism is really a tautology). It advocates and celebrates the idea of people controlling their government by the electing of representatives who run the government, but also envisions extending that democratic control to the workplace, particularly in areas of economic activity where there is a paucity of competition (as in the energy industry, the arms industry, the power sector, utilities, health care the media and mass transit}. Sometimes that control comes in the form of government takeover of an industry, as for example of healthcare in the UK,  the railways in Germany or France, or the Post Office in the US. Sometimes it can come in the form of giving workers and even local communities — so-called stakeholders in the proper running of a company where they work or live — seats on the boards of enterprises. This is a requirement for large industrial firms in Germany and some other countries.

The US, since at least 1917 and the success of the Russian Revolution, has deliberately conflated socialism with Soviet Communism and later with Chinese Communism. (I should add that the US has also, all the way back to 1917, actively worked through economic strangulation and military action, to crush any attempts around the world to actually create a socialist society, from the Russian Revolution through election manipulation in France, Italy and Australia, to embargo and subversion in Cuba, coups in Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and elsewhere in Latin America, and elsewhere, and wars in Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Congo and other countries. This sordid history makes the common argument spouted in the US that socialism “doesn’t work,” spurious in the extreme.)

Actually though, even Lenin himself readily admitted that Russia had not succeeded (and could not expect to succeed) in achieving the “socialism” described above, because of its primitive level of industrial and class development, and so it was limited to a kind of “state capitalism.”  He was correct, but the thought leaders in the US ruling class backed by the lickspittle “independent media” in this country have ignored that point and stick with the false claim that the Soviet Union and Maoist China, with all the horrors of dictatorship they imposed on their peoples, provide examples of the “evils of socialism.”  (Never mind that before the Russian and Chinese revolutions peasants were virtual or even legal slaves of the land-owners, the countries were a ruled by a Czar or a bunch of brutal warlords, respectively, and freedom didn’t exist for the vast majority of the people.)

Back in the early 1960s, as first President Kennedy and then Lyndon Johnson worked to establish what eventually became the Medicare program for the elderly and disabled, an actor named Ronald Reagan was hired by the American Medical Association to attack the idea in a series of paid public advertisements on radio and TV. As Reagan warned darkly, if “socialized medicine,” which is what he called government insurance for the elderly and disabled, were established by Congress, “behind it will come other federal programs that will invade every area of freedom as we have known it in this country until, one day as Norman Thomas said, we will awake to find that we have socialism… and one of these days you and I are going to spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was like in America when men were free.”

Of course, by 1981 when Reagan was elected president, Medicare and Medicaid had been operating for 16 years. By that point, Americans loved both programs, which were significantly improving the health and longevity of the nation’s people even if they didn’t always realize they were benefitting from a program that is socialist in form and inspiration. 
Freedom in any event hadn’t declined at all. Indeed freedom from poverty was far greater because far fewer of the elderly were going bust paying for medical care, and far fewer younger adults were being bankrupted trying to care for their aging parents, grandparents and disabled family members.

Medicare, Medicaid, free public college, subsidized transit and the like are not, in themselves, socialism, but they are socialist ideas, as are electric power cooperatives and municipally owned water systems. Bernie Sanders’ idea of expanding and improving Medicare into a program of Medicare for All so that nobody (and nobody’s employer) needs to pay thousands of dollars annually for individual medical insurance or tens of thousands of dollars for family medical insurance and related health care costs. Sanders favors free public college because a nation’s young people are all of our responsibility. If they succeed, we all succeed as a nation. And they cannot succeed if they graduate with a degree and $50-100,000 in student loans, some bearing interest as high as 9%.

Socialism has nothing to do with freedom and democracy or a lack of it and everything to do with building a caring society that seeks to raise everyone and give everyone the opportunity to work and succeed in that society. Socialism is not scary, it’s not Communism and it’s not dictatorship, whatever the wack-jobs like Jake Johnson, Chris Matthews of MSNBC or Sanders’ latest red-baiting attacker, Joe Biden, may say.

Bernie got it right when he told Pete Buttigieg, who has the financial backing of 40 billionaires, “You cannot take support to billionaires and then say you’re going to be for the people.”

For me, the simple way to look at it is this:  socialism is the idea that democracy should be expanded beyond the political sphere to include the economic sphere. It takes the freedom which today exists largely only in the home and on one’s front yard but that gets chipped away elsewhere and doesn’t even exist inside the workplace, and extends it to the workplace and beyond. Socialism’s premise is that government and society at large have a responsibility for the welfare of a country’s most vulnerable, and that the aggregation of vast wealth and the existence of grinding poverty are antithetical to a good society.  Capitalism’s premise, in contrast, is that the pursuit of wealth in itself is a positive thing, and that the achieving of wealth is prima face evidence of the virtue of the person who has it, while poverty is the deserved result of a person’s presumed lack of industry.

Robert Bridge schreef een artikel op SCF (door mij overgenomen van Information Clearing House) waarin hij de draak steekt met de mediaorgaan Bloomberg en de Democraten in de VS. Boven de kop meende Bridge te moeten zeggen dat het om satire gaat, daar hij anders wel eens serieus zou kunnen worden genomen en inderdaad sinds de presidentsverkiezingen van 2016 lijkt heel de VS wel knettergek....... (hoewel, sinds 2016, of moeten we niet veel verder terug?)

Bloomberg berichtte dat er onderzoek wordt gedaan of Rusland bezig is met het besmeuren van Joe Biden vanwege zijn rol en die van zijn zoon, in een witwas schandaal met de firma Burisma waarvoor zijn zoon werkte en gezien de staat van de economie in Oekraïne het meer dan waanzinnige bedrag van 50.000 dollar per maand verdiende......* 

Alsof Biden en zijn zoon niet mans genoeg zijn geweest in het besmeuren van de eigen naam, Joe Biden gaf NB toe dat hij Oekraïne onder druk had gezet met de mededeling dat VS wapenhulp wel eens zou kunnen worden teruggedraaid als het de openbaar aanklager die onderzoek deed naar de witwaspraktijken van Hunter Biden niet ontslagen zou worden, (nogmaals:) Hunter Biden die voor een achterlijk hoog salaris werkte voor Burisma...... Anders gezegd: het strafrechtelijk onderzoek naar Hunter Biden (dat volkomen terecht werd ingesteld) moest worden stopgezet daar Oekraïne anders wapenhulp van de VS kon vergeten..... 

Uiteraard heeft Joe Biden nooit openlijk toegegeven dat de openbaar aanklager moest worden ontslagen daar hij onderzoek deed naar zijn zoon, nee de openbaar aanklager zou niet geschikt zijn geweest om corruptie te onderzoeken.......

Bridge heeft een hoogst humoristisch stuk geschreven over deze zaak, waarin hij de Democraten die nu al denken dat ze de verkiezingen in november zullen verliezen, volkomen belachelijk maakt.... De impeachment procedure die de Democraten hebben ingesteld tegen Trump kost hen vrijwel zeker het presidentschap en als in 2016 wil men daar anderen de schuld van geven, zoals destijds is Rusland nu al de klos.......* 

De hele Russiagate zaak is een flop geworden en toch houden de Democraten en de reguliere VS media aan de kant van de Democraten (inclusief zo ongeveer de hele reguliere westerse pers buiten de VS) Rusland schuldig aan het verlies van oorlogsmisdadiger Clinton..... Rusland zou met het 'waanzinnige budget' van 100.000 dollar de verkiezingen in 2016 hebben gemanipuleerd ten gunste van Trump, waar dit bedrag volkomen in het niet valt vergeleken met de honderden miljoenen die werden uitgegeven aan die verkiezingen........

January 16, 2020 "Information Clearing House" -  I suppose it is necessary, considering the bleak and humorless times we live in, to immediately start by acknowledging that the headline is meant as satire, what Webster defines as a form of “ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.”

In other words, nyet, the Kremlin does not have a hotline to the American brain that can trigger card-carrying Democrats to enter a catatonic trance on Election Day and vote against Joe Biden, or any of the other flawless Democratic gems for that matter. By this time, especially following the release of the Mueller Report, you would think that conspiracy theories involving Russia and American democracy would have subsided; instead they’ve only escalated as the U.S. enters the hot end of the 2020 presidential election campaign.

So how exactly does Russia, in a scene straight out of A Clockwork Orange, tap into the frontal lobe section of the U.S. electorate and cause them to lose all confidence in their political favorites?

“A signature trait of Russian President Vladimir Putin ‘is his ability to convince people of outright falsehoods,’ William Evanina, director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC), said in a statement. ‘In America, [the Russians are] using social media and many other tools to inflame social divisions, promote conspiracy theories and sow distrust in our democracy and elections.’”

Yes, somehow those dastardly Russians have outsmarted the brightest and best-paid political strategists in Washington, D.C. by brandishing what amounts to some really persuasive memes over social media, and for just rubles on the dollar. The techies at Wired went so far as to call this epic assault on the fragile American cranium, “meme warfare to divide America.” By way of evidence, it cited a very creative meme that screamed, “F*CK THE ELECTIONS,” which was intended, as the ironclad argument goes, to cause a number of impressionable Americans to throw up their hands in a fit of collective exasperation and say, ‘Ok, that’s it. I’m staying at home on Election Day.’

Yes, it’s really that easy! Imagine all the money the Russians and their radical new political technologies could have saved guys like casino tycoon, Sheldon Adelson, who showered the Trump campaign with $100 million dollars.

Many of those divisive Russian messages wormed their way onto Facebook, purportedly, where God only knows how many voter brains’ turned to maggots and mush just staring at them. Yet one individual who actually recalls seeing one or two of these dangerous memes was Rob Goldman, former Vice President for Advertising on Facebook, who revealed via Twitter, another infected social media platform, some interesting information:

“Most of the coverage of Russian meddling involves their attempt to effect the outcome of the 2016 U.S. election. I have seen all of the Russian ads and I can say very definitively that swaying the election was *NOT* the main goal.”

Clearly, Goldman seems to have been under the sway of some folk Russian brainwashing technique, probably passed down from the time of Rasputin. In any case, Donald Trump himself took great satisfaction from that particular revelation, retweeting it to his millions of minions.

Russia, the gift that keeps on giving

Not only have the Democrats been able to use the Russia bogeyman as their excuse for losing the White House in 2016, they are able to summon this distant nuclear power whenever they wish to curb internet freedoms, which is pretty much every day now.

Now, fun-loving memes are under attack and may soon go the way of the DoDo bird (“A small office of Russian trolls could derail 241 years of U.S. political history with a handful of dank memes and an advertising budget that would barely buy you a billboard in Brooklyn,” screamed insanely The Guardian). At the same time, the freedom of speech is getting destroyed by vapid accusations of ‘hate speech,’ which, unless used to incite violence, is a totally meaningless term used to eliminate any conversation that is undesirable to the elite.

Meanwhile, only the mainstream media these days are permitted to dabble in ‘conspiracy theories’ even as their own false narratives have contributed to the pulverization of entire nations, as was the case in Iraq, for example, which sustained a full-blown U.S. military invasion in 2003 following debunked claims that Saddam Hussein was harboring weapons of mass destruction. That was the mother of all conspiracy theories that was pushed unchallenged by the mainstream media.

So back to Joe Biden.

Do intelligent Americans really need help from Russia to prove that just maybe the former Vice President is mentally and physically unfit to stand for the White House? Probably not. From whispering sweet nothings into the ears of any female within groping distance, to sucking on his wife’s fingertips at a political rally, something just doesn’t seem altogether right upstairs with Joe Biden. So what is the real story for dragging Russia, once again, into the internal swamp pit known as Washington, D.C.?

The Bloomberg article provides a big hint: “This time around, the narrative about Biden and Ukraine is … well-publicized and being advanced by Trump, his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani and the president’s Republican allies in Congress.”

And that “narrative” has everything to do with not only the Democrats’ frozen impeachment proceedings against the U.S. leader, which promises to have major connections to Ukraine, Joe Biden and his son Hunter, and quite possibly dozens of other top Democrats. In other words, the Democrats understand that pushing ahead with impeachment could be their ultimate downfall.

Although few Americans seem to remember that back in May of 2019, Trump granted U.S. Attorney General William Barr “full and complete authority” to investigate exactly how claims that Trump was ‘conspiring with the Kremlin’ in the 2016 presidential election had originated, the Democrats certainly have not.

Their bogus ‘Russian collusion’ claim provided the rationale for a four-year-long ‘witch hunt’ that began when the Democrats, relying on the flimsy findings contained in the so-called ‘Steele dossier, managed to get approval from the FISA court to spy on the Trump campaign. Now, some top-ranking Democrats – never imagining Hillary Clinton would actually lose in 2016 – are understandably nervous as to what Barr and his assistant, federal attorney John Durham will divulge to the public in the coming months.

With so much riding on the line in 2020, is anyone surprised that Bloomberg, the news affiliate owned and operated by Democratic contender Michael Bloomberg, is now reporting “U.S. officials are warning that Russia’s election interference in 2020 could be more brazen than in the 2016 presidential race or the 2018 midterm election.”

In other words, the racist ploy used by Democrats to explain their monumental defeat in 2016 did not end with the Mueller Report. The conspiracy theory, promulgated by a media that is in effect just another branch of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), is being primed to explain not only possible criminal charges aimed at top Democrats in the coming months, but how Democrats, like Michael Bloomberg, failed once again to beat the seemingly unstoppable incumbent, Donald Trump.

Sam Pizzigati schreef op Inequality (door mij overgenomen van Information Clearing House) een artikel over de kosten die kandidaten maken voor het VS presidentschap. Pizzigati keek vooral naar Michael Bloomberg, de Republikein die volgend jaar als Democraat opgaat voor dat presidentschap.

Bloomberg (een media plutocraat) is 3 keer burgemeester van New York geweest. In 2001 gaf Bloomberg $74 miljoen uit om zich verkozen te krijgen, ofwel $99 per stem..... In 2005 werd dit bedrag verhoogd naar $85 miljoen ofwel $112 per stem..... Voor de herverkiezing van 2009 ging het bedrag nog een stuk verder de lucht in, maar liefst $102 miljoen wat gelijkstaat aan $174 per gekochte stem, dit was wel de zwaarste verkiezing voor Bloomberg en hij won deze herverkiezing met slechts 51% van de stemmen......

Nu Bloomberg opgaat voor het presidentschap van de VS is het de vraag hoeveel hij nu nodig zal hebben per stem om verkozen te worden. Trump had in 2016 een aantal van 63 miljoen stemmen nodig om de verkiezingen van 2016 'te winnen'. Veronderstel dat dit in 2020 ook zo zou zijn en Bloomberg zou $100 per stem nodig hebben, zou hem dit $6,3 miljard kosten, een bedrag dat hij makkelijk kan ophoesten met een totaal vermogen van $52 miljard......

De andere kandidaten van de Democratische Partij, m.n. Bernie Sanders en Elizabeth Warren hebben al beloofd dat ze de welgestelden fiks zullen aanpakken via de belasting, één van de redenen dat Bloomberg meedoet in het Democratische kamp (hij is daar uiteraard tegen), dit zou hem in het eerste jaar al $3 miljard aan belastinguitgaven kosten en na 2 jaar zou dit al zijn opgelopen tot $6 miljard..... Kortom het is uiterst lucratief voor Bloomberg om mee te doen aan de verkiezingen!! Overigens, een adviseur van Bloomberg stelt dat Bloomberg lang niet zoveel nodig heeft als de hiervoor en hierna genoemde kosten van $6,3 miljard, deze schat de kosten voor de voorverkiezingen in de Democratische Partij op $500 miljoen, waar Sanders en Warren over een bedrag beschikken van rond de $25 miljoen. Bloomberg kan met gemak 10 keer zoveel uitgeven, waar hij het grootste deel aan het eind van het jaar al heeft terugverdiend.....

Nogmaals toont e.e.a. aan dat de verkiezingen in de VS in feite niets meer met democratie te maken hebben, maar meer met het geld dat een kandidaat ter beschikking staat. Een welgestelde president kan daarna zijn kapitaal via diverse maatregelen veilig stellen, bijvoorbeeld door bepaalde wetten door te drukken, dan wel te schrappen (mits deze een meerderheid heeft in het liefst de Senaat en het Congres)..... Het mag zogenaamd niet, maar het is wel duidelijk dat het presidentschap Trump al miljoenen moet hebben opgebracht, alleen al door gasten van het Witte Huis onderdak te bieden in zijn hotel, of gasten aan de VN in zijn hotel in New York. Zie voorts ook al de banen die hij familieleden heeft toebedeeld.... Wie dit nog een democratie noemt is rijp voor de basisschool of de psychiater....

Mocht Bloomberg de verkiezingen winnen, is het laatste verschil tussen de Democratische Partij en de Republikeinen verdwenen, ofwel dan maakt het totaal niet meer uit op wie je stemt in de VS en zijn de verkiezingen plus de democratie daar definitief tot een lachertje verworden.....

December 02, 2019 "Information Clearing House" - Gracie Mansion, the official residence of New York’s mayors since 1942, hosted billionaire Michael Bloomberg for three terms.

The first of these terms began after Bloomberg, then the Republican candidate for mayor, spent an incredible $74 million to get himself elected in 2001. He spent, in effect, $99 for every vote he received.

Four years later, Bloomberg — who made his fortune selling high-tech information systems to Wall Street — had to spend even more to get himself re-elected. His 2005 campaign bill came to $85 million, about $112 per vote.

In 2009, he had the toughest sledding yet. Bloomberg first had to maneuver his way around term limits, then convince a distinctly unenthusiastic electorate to give him a majority. Against a lackluster Democratic Party candidate, Bloomberg won that majority — but just barely, with 51 percent of the vote.

That majority cost Bloomberg $102 million, or $174 a vote.

Now Bloomberg has announced he’s running for president as a Democrat, arguing he has the best chance of unseating President Trump, whom he describes as an “existential threat.” Could he replicate his lavish New York City campaign spending at the national level? Could he possibly afford to shell $174 a vote nationwide — or even just $99 a vote?

Let’s do the math. Donald Trump won the White House with just under 63 million votes. We can safely assume that Bloomberg would need at least that 63 million. At $100 a vote, a victory in November 2020 would run Bloomberg $6.3 billion.

Bloomberg is currently sitting on a personal fortune worth $52 billion. He could easily afford to invest $6.3 billion in a presidential campaign — or even less on a primary.

Indeed, $6.3 billion might even rate as a fairly sensible business investment. Several of the other presidential candidates are calling for various forms of wealth taxes. If the most rigorous of these were enacted, Bloomberg’s grand fortune would shrink substantially — by more than $3 billion next year, according to one estimate.

In other words, by undercutting wealth tax advocates, Bloomberg would save over $6 billion in taxes in just two years — enough to cover the cost of a $6.3 billion presidential campaign, give or take a couple hundred million.

Bloomberg, remember, wouldn’t have to win the White House to stop a wealth tax. He would just need to run a campaign that successfully paints such a tax as a clear and present danger to prosperity, a claim he has already started making.

Bloomberg wouldn’t even need to spend $6.3 billion to get that deed done. Earlier this year, one of Bloomberg’s top advisers opined that $500 million could take his candidate through the first few months of the primary season.

How would that $500 million compare to the campaign war chests of the two primary candidacies Bloomberg fears most? Bernie Sanders raised $25.3 million in 2019’s third quarter for his campaign, Elizabeth Warren $24.6 million. Both candidates are collecting donations — from small donors — at a $100 million annual pace.

Bloomberg could spend 10 times that amount on a presidential campaign and still, given his normal annual income, end the year worth several billion more than when the year started.

Most Americans don’t yet believe that billionaires shouldn’t exist. But most Americans do believe that America’s super rich shouldn’t be able to buy elections or horribly distort their outcomes.

But unfortunately, they can — or at least, you can be sure they’ll try.
