Coronavirus: Trump's blunders ten aanzien van het virus zijn opgelopen tot een totaal van 356

Ontving een mail die terug is te leiden naar het team van Elizabeth Warren (Democratische Partij). Heb normaal gesproken weinig zin om berichten van een politicus te plaatsen, zeker als e.e.a. kritiek is op Trump, de zittende president, echter in dit geval maak ik een uitzondering vanwege de inhoud.

Trump heeft intussen al zoveel over het Coronavirus gezegd en 'getwitterd', dat het zaak is deze meer dan achterlijke uitlatingen van deze psychopathische massamoordenaar niet te vergeten, zeker nu meer dan duidelijk is dat hij de Coronacrisis tot één van de onderwerpen van zijn herverkiezingscampagne gebruikt...... De megalomane rotzak heeft bedacht om de arme burgers in de VS $ 1,200.-- te geven en heeft de cheque die deze mensen ontvangen laten voorzien van zijn handtekening..... En dan durft men in de VS nog steeds naar Rusland te wijzen als land dat de verkiezingen in de VS manipuleert..... (terwijl het juist de VS is dat al meer dan 100 jaar verkiezingen elders beïnvloed voor haar belangen in zo'n buitenland.....)

Aanvankelijk bagatelliseerde Trump de toestand rond het Coronavirus, het zou een griepje zijn waar de VS amper last van zou ondervinden, hij stelde zelfs dat rond half maart de ellende van het Coronavirus al voorbij zou zijn...... Toen de zaak toch 'iets anders' in elkaar bleek te zitten, gaf hij de schuld voor de virus uitbraak aan China, waarbij hij dit land ronduit demoniseerde en hij daarmee haat zaaide tegen VS burgers met Oost-Aziatische wortels..... Nu durft hij het imbeciele deel van zijn achterban wijs te maken dat wanneer zijn muur tussen de VS en Mexico al was gebouwd, het virus de VS niet binnen zou zijn gekomen..... Totaal belachelijk natuurlijk en ook daarmee zaait hij haat, maar nu tegen VS burgers die wortels hebben in Latijns-Amerika.......

Een paar dagen geleden nog liet Trump weten dat de VS binnenkort weer open kan, ofwel: 'het moet afgelopen zijn met de sluiting van zaken en industrieën', terwijl het aantal (ook dodelijke) slachtoffers in de VS blijft stijgen......

Voorts heeft Trump meermaals een tirade gehouden tegen het stemmen per post, belangrijk voor staten waar hij niet populair is en hij met zijn handelen mensen de keus geeft het virus op te lopen door te stemmen, of thuis te blijven en niet te gaan stemmen.....

In het hieronder opgenomen schrijven worden een aantal punten opgevoerd, die laten zien hoe bijzonder slecht Trump is in het handelen t.a.v. de Coronacrisis

Trump wil absolute macht vanwege de Coronacrisis, anders gezegd: Trump misbruikt de Coronacrisis om zich macht toe te eigenen die een president alleen tijdens een wereldoorlog heeft..... Het congres is voor het grootste deel 'in handen' van de Democraten en als zijn wil tot absolute macht werkelijkheid zou worden , zal het congres buiten werking worden gesteld.....

Dagelijks 'trakteert' Trump het volk op een briefing over de stand van zaken rond de Coronacrisis en ook deze briefings misbruikt hij voor zijn verkiezingscampagne...... Hoe bedoelt u, manipulatie van de verkiezingen??

During another week in which Americans across the country struggled for their lives and livelihoods, Donald Trump frittered away valuable time by obsessing over his image and the pandemic’s effect on his reelection prospects. When the country is most in need of a unifier-in-chief, Trump continues to sow discord and mine conflict whenever and wherever he deems it to be in his favor.

The Trump White House and its Republican allies seem determined to undermine subject matter experts at every turn, creating an intellectual vacuum that Trump attempts to fill with his political agenda rather than data and facts. The stories we’ve collected this week illustrate all this and create a stark picture of a president who is incapable of reining in his own temperament in order to do what’s best for this country and its people.

• One of Trump’s newest attempts to distract from his poor leadership during the novel coronavirus epidemic is to threaten, in his words, to exercise his “constitutional authority to adjourn both chambers of Congress” in order to push through judicial and executive branch appointments without Congressional approval. In addition to being a flagrant attempt to pack vital positions with Trumpist allies during a nationwide health emergency, this newest announcement is a fundamental challenge to the separation of powers – and is supported neither by the Constitution nor by legal precedent.
• This is far from the first time during this public health crisis that Trump has taken advantage of the nation’s turmoil to further special interests that he considers either important to his allies or to his campaign. Back in March, Trump tried to argue at a rally that the border wall with Mexico could have prevented the coronavirus, a claim for which there is no scientific evidence. This week, Trump took steps to weaken a rule forcing coal-fueled power plants to curtail their mercury emissions. The rule is a vital environmental protection that energy companies have been complaining about for years – and Trump is using this moment to make good on a pledge to these energy companies when he assumes few others are looking. Additionally, Trump has rejected an increase in air quality regulation standards, despite the mounting evidence that high levels of air pollution puts people at a higher risk for coronavirus.
• Even though each one of Trump’s daily coronavirus briefings is a publicity stunt, the briefing that took place on Monday was a particularly clear example of why networks are considering limiting or cutting their airing of these spectacles. Trump used this two-and-a-half-hour press conference as a venue to list grievances against critics and to tout his own propaganda, including airing a bizarre anti-media campaign video.
• Trump’s spat with state leaders continued unabated this week, with disagreements ranging from how to address election security to the amount of testing needed before beginning to even consider reopening the economy. Governors nationwide, including Republicans, have begun vocally supporting expanding vote-by-mail initiatives and support structures in advance of the general election, a safety measure that Trump continues to denigrate. Then, after two regional groups of governors announced that they were starting to create plans for eventually easing coronavirus-related restrictions, Trump claimed that his “authority is total” with regard to deciding when, how, and if the restrictions should be eased. A number of his usual Republican allies (including Sen. Marco Rubio and Rep. Liz Cheney) sharply criticized him for that comment. Later, Trump walked back his position, saying that governors would “call [their] own shots” on plans to reopen.
• Relatedly, Trump’s growing insistence that he will be “reopening the country” on May 1 has resulted in the White House strategizing to find ways to shift blame from the president if and when greater numbers of people die because social distancing initiatives are lifted too soon. The strategy, according to reports, includes attempting to enlist prominent business leaders and other authorities in support of reopening, so any responsibility for negative consequences is widely shared.
• One focus of Trump’s complaints this month has been the World Health Organization, and this week he made good on last week’s threat to revoke W.H.O.’s funding. Although he praised W.H.O. in February, the organization of health experts has become one of Trump’s favorite scapegoats as he has sought to diffuse blame for his bad leadership during the epidemic.
• Although the GOP is still united behind trying to retain power through Trump’s reelection in November, fractures are starting to show between party members over coronavirus responses. Republican governors and members of Congress are beginning to outwardly disagree with Trump’s calls to reopen the country at the start of next month, with even Trump’s staunchest ally, Speaker Mitch McConnell, flatly contradicting Trump’s recent statement about his being able to adjourn Congress.
• Trump’s normally reliable allies in the business community have begun to push back against his recent actions, particularly his moves towards prematurely opening the economy. On a call designed to curry favor with and establish his alliance with business leaders, Trump received significant skepticism and pushback for his overly aggressive timeline, making it seem unlikely that they will back him should he go forward with removing federal social distancing guidelines by May 1.
• In an especially self-serving move that wasted valuable time in getting relief to millions, Trump made a deal with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to have his name printed on the coronavirus stimulus checks being sent to Americans, despite the fact that the president can’t be an official signer on Treasury Department checks. The Internal Revenue Service team in charge of dispensing the checks has had to race to print Trump’s name on the memo line, so Trump can use relief allocated by Congress as a campaign tool.
• To conclude this week’s list, we’re going to leave you with the fact that since the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in the United States on January 20 through April 3, Trump has made 356 false claims related to the coronavirus. And in the two weeks since that date, which was also the date of this series’ first post, that number has only continued to grow. The limited actions Trump has actually taken to address the coronavirus crisis have been too few, too late; a new report suggests that had the U.S. acted to increase testing capacity nationwide two weeks earlier than he did, COVID-19 deaths could have been reduced tenfold.
  

Sen. Lindsey Graham recently told Trump that this November, “your opponent is no longer Joe Biden – it’s this virus.” However, pandemics are not political opponents and they don’t respond to bullying, lying, or misdirection. Trump can’t beat the coronavirus into submission, and while he tries to do so, he’s forcing millions of Americans to suffer far greater harm.

ICE runt concentratiekampen in de VS voor vluchtelingen en kinderen

ICE houdt immigranten gevangen onder uitermate barre omstandigheden, waar isolatiefolter aan de orde van de dag is. 

In het hieronder opgenomen artikel, geschreven door Maryam Saleh, verhaalt zij over de vreselijke omstandigheden waaronder ICE immigranten uit Latijns-Amerika gevangen worden gehouden..... (zij gaat verder niet in op de omgang met vluchtelingenkinderen

Onlangs werd al bekend gemaakt dat kinderen van immigranten nog steeds gescheiden worden van hun ouders en moeten leven in omstandigheden die te vergelijken zijn met de concentratiekampen van de nazi's tijdens WOII...... Hoorde eergisternacht op de BBC dat men zelfs tot 100 kinderen in een soort van grote cel gevangen houdt...... Peuters lopen met of vuile luiers of helemaal geen luiers, zodat de kleding ongelofelijk vies wordt.....

Over kleding gesproken: pubers moeten soms wekenlang doen met de kleding die ze aanhebben..... Voedsel dat wordt verstrekt is niet zelden bedorven en de oudere kinderen moeten de kleine kinderen helpen, kinderen die zij niet kennen, noch dat deze pubers ervaring hebben in het zorgen voor kleine kinderen...... Het ontbreekt de kinderen veelal aan gezond voedsel, waar ze vaak zelfs te weinig te eten krijgen...... De sanitaire voorzieningen zijn smerig, zoals je al begrepen had.....

Uit het artikel van Saleh, gepubliceerd op The Intercept, aandacht voor het grote aantal gevallen van isolatie in de gevangenissen van ICE, of in door ICE gehuurde faciliteiten voor oudere vluchtelingen....... Voorts zijn ook hier de sanitaire voorzieningen smerig en is het eten zonder meer slecht te noemen, zoals gezegd niet zelden met bedorven voedsel......

Het meest schunnige is wel, dat ondanks de grote ophef eerder over het scheiden van ouders en kinderen, deze scheiding nog steeds wordt doorgevoerd, om zo nieuwe vluchtelingen af te schrikken zodat ze niet naar de VS vluchten......

Het voorgaande kan dan ook tot geen andere conclusie leiden dan dat we hier (zoals eerder opgemerkt) te maken hebben met concentratiekampen en dat beste bezoeker kan niet vaak genoeg gezegd worden.......

Overbodig te melden dat e.e.a recht ingaat tegen het VN Vluchtelingenverdrag......

AS PUSH AGAINST ICE EXPLOITATION OF SOLITARY CONFINEMENT GAINS MOMENTUM, CORY BOOKER CALLS FOR HEARINGS

SEN. CORY BOOKER, D-N.J., is calling on Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., to hold a hearing into Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s “egregious and appalling abuses,” including the widespread use of solitary confinement.

In a letter to Graham, Booker, who sits on the Judiciary Committee, referred to solitary confinement as a “form of torture” and cited a recent investigation by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, The Intercept, NBC News, and four other reporting partners into ICE’s use of solitary confinement. Our reporting, which included a review of more than 8,400 reports describing placement in solitary confinement from 2012 to early 2017, found that ICE uses isolation as a go-to tool, rather than a last resort, to punish vulnerable detained immigrants.

“The news stories detail numerous examples of individuals placed in confinement without justification, which prompted a whistleblower to come forward to shine a light on these abuses,” wrote Booker, referring to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employee Ellen Gallagher, who quietly raised the alarm about ICE’s use of solitary confinement for four years before going public in interviews with the reporting consortium.

While different carceral systems use varying terms to describe solitary confinement — ICE calls it “segregation” — it is generally understood to be the practice of holding individuals in isolation with no human contact for at least 22 hours a day.

“ICE’s own policy seems to recognize the dangers of solitary confinement,” Booker continued. “It appears ICE has been consistently violating its own policy on the use of solitary confinement.”

His letter to Graham comes on the heels of a letter from Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., to the acting director of ICE, demanding answers about the agency’s use of solitary confinement and extensively citing our investigation. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., another member of the Judiciary Committee, also called for a hearing into ICE’s use of solitary in response to our investigation last month. The panel’s Democrats do not have independent authority to schedule a hearing, hence the request to Graham.

Booker, in his letter, said that a Judiciary Committee hearing about ICE would give the panel a chance to interrogate “grossly unsanitary conditions at detention facilities,” as well as to gather more information about forthcoming immigration raids that President Donald Trump “flippantly alluded to” on Twitter last week. The president, after announcing that the agency would begin to round up “millions” of immigrants this week — a logistically impossible endeavor — on Saturday put the ICE operation on hold.

Graham, an anti-immigrant hard-liner and apologist for the Trump administration’s harsh policies, convened a committee hearing — at Democrats’ request — in March to investigate Customs and Border Protection for its actions at the southern border. Graham used the hearing as an opportunity for fearmongering about migrants seeking asylum in the United States. The CBP, like ICE, falls under the umbrella of the Department of Homeland Security.

The oversight hearing on CBP was not enough, Booker wrote. “In order to fully address the scope of ICE’s serious and egregious violations, the Committee must convene an oversight hearing. It’s becoming increasingly clear that ICE has become nothing more than a lethal weapon in the Trump administration’s war on immigrants and communities of color, and we cannot be silent.”

BOOKER’S HARSH STANCE against ICE in the letter to Graham is in line with the tack he’s taken on the presidential campaign trail, where he’s been a staunch critic of the agency’s policies. In February, he, along with other 2020 hopefuls Warren, Sen. Kamala Harris, and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, voted against a spending bill, citing ICE. At the time, Booker said that bill would give ICE and CBP “hundreds of millions of additional dollars with little oversight or appropriate guardrails.” In April, he reintroduced legislation to enact protections for detained immigrants.

Booker has also been an outspoken advocate of the rights of prisoners throughout his federal career. At the same time, he’s remained close to a party boss in his home state who oversees a jail that serves as an immigration detention center and is rife with abuses, drawing the ire of local progressives.

As Politico reported on Tuesday, Booker will be in New Jersey on Friday for a $2,800-per-person fundraiser co-hosted by Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo. In that role, DiVincenzo oversees the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, which has a $40 million per year contract with ICE — and was called out for poor conditions in two DHS Inspector General reports just this year.

Twenty-one progressive organizations last week sent a letter to Booker calling on him to cancel the fundraiser, Politico reported. “I believe that Booker wants to make sure that the funnel of money keeps coming through, and that’s why he’s supporting Joe [DiVincenzo] right now,” Carrine Murphy, a paralegal who is critical of county jails’ contracts with ICE, told Politico.

In February, the Office of Inspector General identified a number of issues at the jail, including food safety issues, with “potentially contaminated food being served to detainees.” One example noted “a detainee in segregation said the food was so bad that he had started a liquid only diet and was considering a full hunger strike.”

Earlier this month, the Inspector General issued a follow-up reportbuilding on the same inspection and said that “detainees are placed in disciplinary segregation before the disciplinary hearing panel finds the detainee guilty of the charged offense.”

The facility has reported making improvements in its solitary confinement practices, “including documenting why detainee strip searches were conducted and revising recreation schedules to add additional recreation time,” the Inspector General wrote.

The ICIJ and Intercept investigation found 100 records of placement in solitary confinement at the Essex County jail from 2013 to early 2017. Twenty-seven of those placements were due to disciplinary reasons, while three of them were the result of a suicide risk. Overall, we found at least 373 instances of detained immigrants being placed in isolation because they were potentially suicidal — and another 200-plus cases of people already in solitary confinement moved to “suicide watch” or another form of observation, in many cases in another solitary cell.

Immigration is expected to be a hot-button issue throughout the presidential campaign. Booker and Warren will both participate in the first 2020 Democratic presidential debate in Miami, Florida, on Wednesday night.

VS oorlogshitsers wijzen hysterisch op aanslag als teken dat VS in Syrië moet blijven

De suïcide aanslag in het Syrische Manbij waarbij 2 militairen van de VS en 2 VS 'burgers' die samenwerken met het VS leger (ofwel huursoldaten) omkwamen, was het sein voor de reguliere media in de VS om hysterisch te gillen dat IS niet is verslagen en de VS moet doorgaan met haar illegale oorlog in Syrië..... IS heeft inderdaad de aanslag opgeëist, maar dat heeft IS intussen al zo vaak onterecht gedaan, dat het maar de vraag is of deze aanslag inderdaad door deze terreurorganisatie is uitgevoerd.

De schrijver van het hieronder opgenomen artikel, Caitlin Johnstone heeft zich goed pissig gemaakt over de reactie van de reguliere media in de VS, terwijl deze reactie volledig voorspelbaar was en is.... Maakt verder niet uit, de meer dan belachelijke reacties van de verschillende media-oorlogshitsers zijn het lezen meer dan de moeite waard. 

Met het voorgaande geven de reguliere massamedia in de VS nog eens aan dat ze volkomen in de zak zitten van: -de oorlogshitsers in het Pentagon, -de geheime diensten van de VS, -de wapenfabrikanten (inclusief de fabrikanten van rollend, varend en vliegend oorlogstuig), -de NAVO en -de oliemaffia (de laatsten verdienen in tijden van oorlog ook fiks meer)..... Overigens ook banken, de farmaceutische maffia en aandeelhouders kunnen fikse winsten boeken door oorlogsvoering.... (zo verdiende Nederland zich scheel aan de raffinage van cocaïne tijdens WOI, waar Nederland alle legers die in Frankrijk vochten van deze drug voorzag....)

War Whores Scramble to Say Syria Attack Means US Troops Must Remain

(CJ Opinion) — A suicide bombing in Manbij, Syria has reportedly killed 19 people including four Americans, two of whom were US soldiers and two of whom worked with the US military. ISIS, which has an extensive history of falsely claiming responsibility for attacks it had nothing to do with, has claimed responsibility for the attack. Despite the fact that ISIS would claim responsibility for a housewife stepping on a Lego block, and despite the complete absence of evidence that it had anything to do with the deadly explosion, all the usual cheerleaders of endless war are pointing to the Manbij suicide bombing and shrieking “See?? Trump said ISIS is defeated and it’s not!”

“ISIS is still a very real threat here,” CNN international corespondent Clarissa Ward told Jake Tapper from northern Syria. “And the real concern that we are hearing over and over again on the ground, Jake, is that when US troops withdraw, a power vacuum is created, and that only gives them more strength.”

Virulent Syria war pundit Charles Lister, who is notorious for praising Al Qaeda and is a senior fellow at the Gulf state-funded neoconservative think tank Middle East Institute, told AFP that this attack invalidates Donald Trump’s order last month to withdraw troops from Syria.

“Trump’s order was reckless and driven far more by domestic political concerns than it was by facts on the ground,” Lister said, adding, “To suggest ISIS is ‘defeated’ because it no longer controls territory is to fundamentally misunderstand how ISIS and similar organizations seek to operate.”

Former John McCain ventriloquism dummy Lindsey Graham pounced like a rat on a cheese doodle on the opportunity to call for continued US troop presence within hours of the attack, interrupting the confirmation hearing of Attorney General nominee William Barr with an ejaculation about Trump’s Syria withdrawal.

“I would hope the President would look long and hard at where he’s headed in Syria,” Graham said after repeating the baseless claim that the attack was perpetrated by ISIS. “I know people are frustrated, but we’re never going to be safe here unless we’re willing to help people over there who will stand up against this radical ideology.”

Not to be left out when there are moronic war agendas to be sold, Fox News leapt into the fray with a quote from an anonymous foreign diplomat saying “This attack today is a direct result of the announcement made by President Trump that U.S. forces are pulling out. These troops had a bullseye on them when the president telegraphed that he was ordering a pullout.”

“ISIS has already claimed responsibility for today’s suicide attack, a reminder that the group is not defeated,” added Fox’s Jennifer Griffin.

MSNBC’s deranged intelligence analyst Malcolm Nance topped everyone as usual with a babbling nonsensical post about how US troops were killed in Manbij because there were no US troops in Manbij, proving that Assad and Putin may have allowed the attack to happen, which proves Trump is a Russian asset.

Other voices are treating the reports about the bombing with a little more skepticism.

“If ISIS were smart it would hold its fire especially against Americans,” tweeted professor and author Max Abrahms. “The main justification for leaving Syria is the (contested) assessment ISIS is defeated. ISIS attacks convey the opposite, weakening the strategic rationale of withdrawal while making it politically harder.”

“Ok, so Trump announces that the U.S. will begin a phased withdrawal from Syria, which according to his critics, would only benefit ISIS who they say is still operational and would welcome a U.S. pull out. But not waiting for pull out ISIS then targets U.S. troops! Yeah right,” tweeted former Green Party vice presidential nominee Ajamu Baraka.

These are interesting points. If ISIS is indeed responsible for the bombing, as war pundits are unquestioningly asserting is the case, then they’re either really, really stupid or they really want US troops to remain in Syria. Or perhaps the attack was engineered by someone else who has a vested interest in keeping a US military presence in Syria, either using ISIS as a patsy or completely separate from ISIS. Wouldn’t be the first time a suspicious attack took place in Syria while the Trump administration was working to withdraw troops.

Of course, this whole debate ignores the most obvious point of all: that if there was no US military presence in Syria, there would be no US military personnel being killed in Syria. The fight against the terrorist forces who nearly overtook the nation with the help of the western power alliance’s imperialist support have been beaten to the brink of total defeat not by the US, but by the Syrian government and its allies. If US troops were removed Damascus would quickly restore stability to the region and continue rebuilding the war-ravaged nation. But this is precisely what these war whores do not want.

Syria is a strategically crucial geopolitical nation for reasons having to do with natural resources and the power dynamics of Israel, Iran, and the empire-aligned Gulf states. It is not a coincidence that so much energy gets poured into this small stretch of land and its surrounding nations by the western military alliance and its propaganda machine, and it’s unlikely that the global dominators will lose interest in Syria any time soon. Stay skeptical.
