Microplastics doden ons lichaam, tijd voor actie!!

Wetenschappers hebben ontdekt dat kleine stukjes plastic >> microplastics (en nanoplastics), ons lichaam langzaam doden. In een groot aantal producten, zelfs in bier, kraanwater en zout zijn deze microplastics terug te vinden......

Na onderzoek concludeerden deze wetenschappers dat deze microplastics in bijna al onze organen terug zijn te vinden, niet alleen dat, maar deze microplastics zijn een sluipmoordenaar in ons lichaam.....

Microplastics zijn dodelijk voor ons immuunsysteem en juist dat is funest in tijden van een echte pandemie..... Menselijke cellen die werden blootgesteld aan in bloedplasma omgeven microplastics hebben 60% van die cellen binnen 24 uur gedood!!

Bedrijven als Amazon van opperschoft Bezos worden zo rijk ten koste van de gezondheid van hun klanten, met de enorme verspilling van plastics......

Coronavirus: miljardairs in de VS zagen sinds half maart hun gezamenlijk inkomen met 30% stijgen

Het was afgelopen zaterdagmorgen weer eens zover: nadat ik de eerste zinnen van een petitie zag vloog de slok koffie die ik net nam met een bloedgang tegen de ruiten van huize Azijnpisser (en nee niet het gevolg van het virus).

Miljardairs in de VS hebben hun vermogen sinds half maart ('begin Coronacrisis' in de VS) met een totaal van 732 miljard dollar zien toenemen, dit betekent een toename van 5,2 miljard per dag!!! 

Een staatje van 3 maanden na het begin van de Coronacrisis in de VS, intussen is het bedrag dus gestegen naar 732 miljard dollar.....
 
Dus ondanks dat miljoenen mensen in de VS hun baan kwijt raakten en bij god niet weten hoe nog rond te kunnen komen, schraapten de super welgestelden vele miljarden extra binnen...... Het is wel duidelijk dat dit mede te danken is aan hun aandelenportefeuilles in farmaceutische bedrijven, die ondanks hun enorme rijkdom (behaald over de rug van voor het overgrote deel niet welgestelde patiënten) godbetert miljarden kregen van overheden voor de 'strijd' tegen het Coronavirus....  

Zo dat hebben we mooi geflikt!

Deze miljarden zijn vooral opgebracht door de gewone belastingbetalers, terwijl de welgestelden relatief veel minder belasting betalen, zeker als ze een 'foundation' hebben opgericht, zoals de Bill en Melinda Gates Foundation, uiterst lucratief voor afschrijvingen op de al veel te lage belasting die deze miljardairs moeten betalen, waar de genoemde foundation NB samenwerkt met de grote farmaceuten......

Niet vreemd dus dat de Democraten Bernie Sanders en Ilhan Omar een belasting eisen voor deze extra winsten en dat met een percentage van 60%, waardoor dit topgraai geteisem alsnog kapitalen extra overhoudt......

Uiteraard kunnen wij de petitie van Coalition on Human Needs niet tekenen, echter deze zaak is belangrijk genoeg om onder de aandacht te brengen:

Gisteren dacht ik even een storing in m'n gehoor te hebben toen BBC World Service in het nieuws van 10.00 u. het bericht bracht dat een stuk papier met de tekst van het Bob Dylan nummer The Times They Are A Changing' wordt geveild met een start bedrag van maar liefst 2,2 miljoen dollar..... ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Ofwel het nummer waarin Dylan o.a. spuugt op het ook toen al uiterst inhumane en keiharde kapitalisme en oorlogsvoering en in feite stelt dat er een revolutie op til staat, wordt nu gekocht door figuren die zich meestal over de rug van anderen schandalig hebben verrijkt.......

Om het belachelijk hoge bedrag nog enigszins een legitiem tintje te geven in dit bericht, noemde de nieuwslezer nog dat Dylan op het papier woorden en zinnen had geschrapt en andere had toegevoegd

Jammer genoeg is Dylan later van het pad geraakt, waarna hij zelfs stelde in zijn teksten nooit ideologisch bezig te zijn geweest....... Het zijn dan ook vooral de albums tot en met John Wesley Harding die wat mij betreft met kop en schouders boven de rest van zijn werk uitsteken. (overigens vind ik ook het latere Dylan country album Nashville Skyline een mooi album, al past het minder in het werk dat Dylan tot dan maakte)

Richard Branson, directeur Virgin Airlines vraagt 500 miljoen pond steun van Britse overheid

Zoals de regelmatige lezer van dit blog weet, donder ik nogal eens van m'n stoel bij bepaalde berichten. Vanmorgen was het weer zover, Richard Branson, de eigenaar van o.a. Virgin Airlines wil 500 miljoen pond steun van de Britse overheid om de gevolgen van de Coronacrisis op te kunnen vangen.......  

Branson heeft een vermogen van 5 miljard Britse ponden, waar haalt hij het gore lef vandaan om dan om staatssteun te vragen??? (het vermogen van 5 miljard is bekend, ofwel het is heel goed mogelijk dat hij nog een paar miljard heeft staan in een belastingparadijs.....)

           
              Topgraaier en miljardair Richard Branson

Volgens Branson gaat het om een lening die op termijn terugbetaald zal worden, althans als de Coronacrisis snel is afgelopen, echter daar ziet het niet naar uit..... Je gelooft hoop ik niet dat Branson bij een faillissement zal worden aangesproken op zijn vermogen, de kans daarop heeft hij zorgvuldig dicht laten timmeren door zijn leger aan financiële en belastingdeskundigen...... Echter mocht het tot een faillissement komen, zou de Britse staat wel degelijk een fiks deel van de 500 miljoen geleende ponden kwijtraken.....

Branson kan volgens de Britse overheid niet duidelijk maken dat hij de verliezen niet op een andere manier kan compenseren en heeft volkomen terecht de vraag om steun afgewezen.......

Het is wel duidelijk: Branson verdient fiks op zijn vermogen, minstens met een fiks aantal aandelen portefeuilles..... Daarom heeft hij liever een overheidslening, dat scheelt een slok op een borrel en daarna kan hij de kosten voor zo'n lening afschrijven van de belasting, iets dat 'wat moeilijker' gaat als hij zijn eigen vermogen moet aanspreken voor geleden verliezen......

Wat een hufter!!

Coronavirus: de 'vrijgevige superrijken' laten het ook tijdens deze crisis afweten

Het Care2 Team is een petitie gestart waarmee de oligarchen, of zoals je wilt de plutocraten, worden gewezen op hun belofte dat ze weliswaar weinig belasting betalen, maar dat dit ruimschoots wordt goed gemaakt met hun diensten en giften aan de maatschappij..... Je moet wel hopeloos buiten de werkelijkheid leven als je dit soort gelul gelooft, waar nu ten overvloede nog eens wordt bewezen dat deze exorbitante zelfverrijkers het massaal laten afweten, zelfs tijdens de Coronacrisis.....

Overigens als je er een beetje moeite voor zou hebben gedaan, zou je al lang weten dat deze plutocraten hoegenaamd niets doen aan liefdadigheid, anders dan dat ze er zelf belang bij hebben, er is dan ook geen land op de wereld waar zoveel fondsen zijn als in de VS, neem de Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, of de Clinton Foundation. Door dit soort stichtingen van geld te voorzien, betalen deze schunnig rijke figuren nog minder belasting dan ze normaal gesproken zouden moeten doen en ze maken er mooie sier mee in de reguliere media die hun hielen likken (veel van deze media zijn dan ook het bezit van deze plutocraten)..... Ofwel charativiteit is een 'mooi middel' om minder belasting te betalen en toch een beeld te scheppen dat men goed doet, een heel vals beeld wel te verstaan! 

Vergeet voorts niet dat deze plutocraten over het algemeen ook nog een verborgen bankrekening in één of ander belastingparadijs hebben, waarmee ze miljoenen op jaarbasis aan belasting ontduiken.......

Het Care2 Team haalt een paar voorbeelden aan waaruit blijkt dat zelfs de zogenaamde giften in feite niets waard zijn, zoals een ziekenhuis in Philadelphia dat al een jaar leegstaat omdat Joel Freeman, de gever en eigenaar van het ziekenhuis, elke maand 1 miljoen dollar aan huur eist van de stad, wat deze stad niet op kan brengen, daarom blijven 500 ziekenhuisbedden leeg....... (m.i. is dat ronduit misdadig!!)

Nog zo één: Dyson, de uitvinder en fabrikant van de cycloonstofzuigers, beloofde 15.000 beademingsapparaten te fabriceren voor Groot-Brittannië, waarmee hij flink wat aandacht van de reguliere media genereerde. Dyson gaf die media niet te verstaan, dat hij de Britse staat aanslaat voor de kosten van 10.000 van deze apparaten........ (of die media waren wel op de hoogte maar willen niet bijten in de hand die hen voedt) Schande!!!

Lees en teken de petitie ajb en geeft het door, de hoogste tijd dat de superrijken grote giften en medische apparatuur schenken aan de maatschappij (waaraan verbonden zou moeten worden dat deze schandalig rijke figuren echt belasting moeten betalen, jaarlijks tegen een tarief van 80% op [alle] inkomsten!! Als deze figuren worden gepakt voor belastingontduiking zou men hen alle bezittinghen moeten afnemen!! De hoogste tijd voor rechtvaardigheid!)

But he’s still charging the UK government for 10,000 of them. In Philadelphia, a major hospital has been standing empty since last year. The building's owner, Joel Freedman, is demanding $1 million per month in rent from the city. Since Philadelphia cannot afford the sum, nearly 500 beds will continue to sit vacant. These examples are horrifying, but not surprising or rare. Help us tell these resource-rich plutocrats to step up to the plate and put their bottomless pits of cash to good use. Filantropie of een 'nieuwe' truc van de super welgestelden om de belasting te ontduiken

Brasscheck TV bracht enige tijd geleden een video over de schenkingen die de super welgestelden doen aan goede doelen. Een zaak waarover de media in de VS (en de rest van het westen) berichten als zou het gaan om een enorme aderlating voor zo'n filantroop, terwijl de werkelijkheid er 'iets anders' uitziet.

Deze zogenaamde filantropen doen deze enorme schenkingen zodat ze praktisch geen belasting meer hoeven te betalen over hun enorme vermogen...... Financieel deskundigen stellen dan ook dat deze plutocraten beter een eerlijk percentage (van meer dan 70%) belasting kunnen betalen over hun vermogen (in de VS is dit zelfs minder dan 20%....), daar dit om bedragen gaat die veel groter zijn dat de zogenaamde giften van deze topgraaiers.... In feite is deze manier van geld weggeven niet anders dan een vorm van belastingontduiking, hier o.a. gepropageerd door opperhufter Louise Fresco......*

De video waar het om gaat is door de VPRO gemaakt en lullig genoeg is het waarschijnlijk deze eertijds progressieve omroep die de video heeft laten verwijderen van het net, bepaald niet ondenkbaar dat de top van de VPRO, om het maar zachtjes te zeggen, niet blij was met het feit dat hun 'vrinden' van de golfclub werden belasterd in deze video...... Ook is het mogelijk dat de NPO de video 'offline' heeft gehaald, de NPO die burgers dubbel wil laten betalen voor het nazien van o.a. eerder uitgezonden documentaires...... (immers we betalen via de belasting al voor de producties van de publieke omroep...)

Hoe dan ook: totaal belachelijk dat men het gore lef heeft een dergelijke video van het net te halen, immers het is juist in het belang van het volk dat er grote transparantie is over het 'reilen en zeilen' van plutocraten, die al een grote stem hebben in hoe wij en andere westerse volkeren worden geregeerd...... Ik kan een dergelijke handeling dan ook niet anders zien dan censuur en zoals je weet: dat past niet in een democratie, maar in een dictatuur.......

De werkelijke machthebbers in de VS, waar Bernie Sanders geen deel van uit mag maken

Chris Hedges heeft een artikel geschreven waarin hij waarschuwt voor de macht van de oligarchen/plutocraten, ofwel de super welgestelde miljardairs. Hij betoogt dat de belangen van de welgestelden niet de belangen zijn van het gewone volk en zegt hetzelfde over de waarheid en het leven van de welgestelden, ook deze 2 zaken zijn bepaald niet hetzelfde als die voor de grote onderlaag.

Om de macht van de oligarchen te bestendigen hebben ze legers van advocaten tot hun beschikking, dit nog naast het in de zak hebben van publicisten, politici, rechters, academici en journalisten, alles om hun belangen te beschermen......

Hedges betoogt dat deze plutocraten voorts het neoliberalisme en de volgende zaken gebruiken om hun macht te bewaren: 

• het verplaatsen van industrie naar lagelonenlanden
• het vernietigen van vakbonden
• het verlagen of zelfs opheffen van belastingen
• vrije handel
• globalisering (daar ben ik het overigens niet mee eens)
• een totale veiligheidsstaat (dus zoveel mogelijk cameratoezicht, inbreken op computers van de alternatieve media en hun aanhang, plus de computers van milieugroepen en hun activisten, daarnaast het totaal teniet doen van het recht op privacy)
• eindeloze oorlogen (goed voor het bedrijfsleven en oliemaatschappijen)
• bezuinigingen, die altijd weer de grote onderlaag het hardst treffen..... 

Verder heeft dit geteisem bijna de gehele voedselvoorziening in handen, dus de: -doodsindustrie die men intensieve veeteelt noemt, -de gentech zadenbedrijven en hun kankerverwekkend gif, plus -bedrijven die palmolie- en soja produceren, waarvoor de laatste oerwouden op onze kleine aarde worden gekapt en verbrand......*  

Alle aangehaalde zaken worden aan het grote publiek gepresenteerd als waren het natuurlijke processen en wetten waar nu eenmaal niet aan is te ontkomen.... In werkelijkheid zorgen deze zaken ervoor dat de fundamenten onder de democratie worden ondermijnd en dat er geen of amper maatregelen worden getroffen tegen de klimaatverandering en de enorme luchtvervuiling, die zelfs een eind aan de mensheid kunnen maken...... 

Het zal je niet verbazen dat deze plutocraten een uiterst belangrijk onderdeel vormen van wat men 'Deep State' noemt, de werkelijke machthebbers van vooral de westerse wereld....... (als men over Deep State spreekt, heeft men het meestal sover de VS, echter het is in de rest van het westen niet veel anders....)

Deze plutocraten (of oligarchen) willen overal over spreken behalve over klassen, immers dan zouden ze wel heel snel door de mand vallen en zou het gewone volk opstandig maken..... Hedges haalt een uitspraak aan van Aristoteles, die stelde dat wanneer de oligarchen de macht hebben gegrepen, de maatschappij nog 2 mogelijkheden rest: tirannie accepteren of kiezen voor een revolutie....

In een kort verslag beschrijft Hedges het beleid dat Roosevelt voerde en waar de welgestelden zelfs 91% belasting betaalden, dit was nog het geval in de 50er jaren, terwijl ze nu praktisch geen belasting meer betalen.... (vergeleken met het enorme kapitaal dat ze bij elkaar hebben geroofd, in het merendeel van de gevallen figuurlijk en letterlijk over de rug van arbeiders.....) De Trump administratie heeft er zelfs voor gezorgd dat de superwelgestelden er nog verder op vooruit zijn gegaan, o.a. door belastingverlagingen....... (VVD leugenaar Rutte heeft hier eenzelfde beleid gevoerd en doet dit nog steeds, al is het met minder succes dan in de VS......)

Gezien het voorgaande is het geen verrassing dat deze topgraaiers Bernie Sanders vrezen, immers hij zal op zeker deze miljardairs aanpakken. Niet vreemd ook dat Sanders al een paar jaar lang wordt afgemaakt in de media, voor zo'n 90% in handen van deze oligarchen, waar de laatste 10% in handen is van investeringsmaatschappijen, die al evenzeer geen belang hebben bij een presidentschap van Sanders.....

De top van de Democratische partij zet ook alles op alles om te voorkomen dat Sanders aan het bewind komt, precies zoals de Republikeinen dit vrezen. Er is dan ook amper verschil wat de top van de Democraten wensen in vergelijking met de Republikeinen, beiden hebben ze grote belangen in de financiële wereld, de farmaceutische industrie, de oliemaatschappijen en de wapenindustrie...... Beide partijen stonden en staan achter de illegale oorlogen die de VS is begonnen en voor het meer dan belachelijk grote budget voor 'Defensie' (lees: oorlogsvoering)..... Hedges noemt nog een aantal zaken die door zowel de Demoraten als de Republikeinen worden gekoesterd, zoals de militarisering van de politie, en de eerder aangehaalde censurering van de sociale media en het inperken van de privacy.....

Deze zaak vertoont opvallende gelijkenissen met de Britse Labour politicus Jeremy Corbyn, die voor de laatste verkiezingen in Groot-Brittannie door de reguliere media daar, inclusief de zogenaamd onafhankelijke BBC, werd gedemoniseerd, zo erg dat men hem zelfs antisemiet noemde........ Als bij Sanders nu, werd ook Corbyn door de top van zijn eigen partij besmeurd......

Verder merkt Hedges op dat hij al in 2016 wist dat Sanders de voorverkiezingen en zeker de presidentsverkiezingen niet zou winnen en hetzelfde zegt hij over de huidige verkiezingen en zoals je wellicht weet, ik ben van hetzelfde overtuigd. Sanders moet en zal de verkiezingen verliezen, in 2016 gebeurde dit door de top van de Democratische Partij en dan m.n. Hillary Clinton die op een smerige manier de Democratische voorverkiezingen won en toen dat uitkwam werd Russiagate verzonnen, om de aandacht af te leiden van de mails die door een klokkenluider werden geopenbaard en waaruit bleek dat Clinton en haar team een smerig spel hebben gespeeld met Sanders..... De klokkenluider was een lid van haar campagneteam, t.w. Seth Rich die vanwege frustraties over het misdadige gedrag van Clinton e.e.a. naar buiten bracht.....**

March 03, 2020 "Information Clearing House" - Aristotle, Niccolò Machiavelli, Alexis de Tocqueville, Adam Smith and Karl Marx grounded their philosophies in the understanding that there is a natural antagonism between the rich and the rest of us. The interests of the rich are not our interests. The truths of the rich are not our truths. The lives of the rich are not our lives. Great wealth not only breeds contempt for those who do not have it but it empowers oligarchs to pay armies of lawyers, publicists, politicians, judges, academics and journalists to censure and control public debate and stifle dissent. Neoliberalism, deindustrialization, the destruction of labor unions, slashing and even eliminating the taxes of the rich and corporations, free trade, globalization, the surveillance state, endless war and austerity — the ideologies or tools used by the oligarchs to further their own interests — are presented to the public as natural law, the mechanisms for social and economic progress, even as the oligarchs dynamite the foundations of a liberal democracy and exacerbate a climate crisis that threatens to extinguish human life.

The oligarchs are happy to talk about race. They are happy to talk about sexual identity and gender. They are happy to talk about patriotism. They are happy to talk about religion. They are happy to talk about immigration. They are happy to talk about abortion. They are happy to talk about gun control. They are happy to talk about cultural degeneracy or cultural freedom. They are not happy to talk about class. Race, gender, religion, abortion, immigration, gun control, culture and patriotism are issues used to divide the public, to turn neighbor against neighbor, to fuel virulent hatreds and antagonisms. The culture wars give the oligarchs, both Democrats and Republicans, the cover to continue the pillage. There are few substantial differences between the two ruling political parties in the United States. This is why oligarchs like Donald Trump and Michael Bloomberg can switch effortlessly from one party to the other. Once oligarchs seize power, Aristotle wrote, a society must either accept tyranny or choose revolution.

The United States stood on the cusp of revolution — a fact President Franklin Roosevelt acknowledged in his private correspondence — amid the breakdown of capitalism in the 1930s. Roosevelt responded by aggressively curbing the power of the oligarchs. The federal government dealt with massive unemployment by creating 12 million jobs through the Works Progress Administration (WPA), making the government the largest employer in the country. It legalized unions, many of which had been outlawed, and through the National Labor Relations Act empowered organizing. It approved banking regulations, including the Emergency Banking Act, the Banking Act and the Securities Act, all in 1933, to prevent another stock market crash. The Federal Emergency Relief Administration provided the equivalent in today’s money of $9.88 billion for relief operations in cities and states. The Democratic president heavily taxed the rich and corporations. (The Republican administration of Dwight Eisenhower in the 1950s was still taxing the highest earners at 91%.) Roosevelt’s administration instituted programs such as Social Security and a public pension program. It provided financial assistance to tenant farmers and migrant workers. It funded arts and culture. It created the United States Housing Authority and instituted the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, which established the minimum wage and set a limit on mandatory work hours. This heavy government intervention lifted the country out of the Great Depression. It also made Roosevelt, who was elected to an unprecedented fourth term, and the Democratic Party wildly popular among working and middle-class families. 
The Democratic Party, should it resurrect such policies, would win every election in a landslide.

But the New Deal was the bête noire of the oligarchs. They began to undo Roosevelt’s New Deal even before World War II broke out at the end of 1941. They gradually dismantled the regulations and programs that had not only saved capitalism but arguably democracy itself. 
We now live in an oligarchic state. The oligarchs control politics, the economy, culture, education and the press. Donald Trump may be a narcissist and a con artist, but he savages the oligarchic elite in his long-winded speeches to the delight of his crowds. He, like Bernie Sanders, speaks about the forbidden topic — class. But Trump, though an embarrassment to the oligarchs, does not, like Sanders, pose a genuine threat to them. 
Trump will, like all demagogues, incite violence against the vulnerable, widen the cultural and social divides and consolidate tyranny, but he will leave the rich alone. It is Sanders whom the oligarchs fear and hate.

The Democratic Party elites will use any mechanism, no matter how nefarious and undemocratic, to prevent Sanders from obtaining the nomination. The New York Times interviewed 93 of the more than 700 superdelegates, appointed by the party and permitted to vote in the second round if no candidate receives the required 1,991 delegates to win in the first round. Most of those interviewed said they would seek to prevent Sanders from being the nominee if he did not have a majority of delegates in the first count, even if it required drafting someone who did not run in the primaries — Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio was mentioned — and even if it led to Sanders’ supporters abandoning the party in disgust. If Sanders fails to obtain 1,991 delegates before the convention, which appears likely, it seems nearly certain he will be blocked by the party from becoming the Democratic candidate. The damage done to the Democratic Party, if this happens, will be catastrophic. It will also all but ensure that Trump wins a second term.

As I wrote in my Feb. 17 column, “The New Rules of the Games,” “Sanders’ democratic socialism is essentially that of a New Deal Democrat. His political views would be part of the mainstream in France or Germany, where democratic socialism is an accepted part of the political landscape and is routinely challenged as too accommodationist by communists and radical socialists. Sanders calls for an end to our foreign wars, a reduction of the military budget, for ‘Medicare for All,’ abolishing the death penalty, eliminating mandatory minimum sentences and private prisons, a return of Glass-Steagall, raising taxes on the wealthy, increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour, canceling student debt, eliminating the Electoral College, banning fracking and breaking up agribusinesses. This does not qualify as a revolutionary agenda.”

“Sanders, unlike many more radical socialists, does not propose nationalizing the banks and the fossil fuel and arms industries,” I continued. “He does not call for the criminal prosecution of the financial elites who trashed the global economy or the politicians and generals who lied to launch preemptive wars, defined under international law as criminal wars of aggression, which have devastated much of the Middle East, resulted in hundreds of thousands of dead and millions of refugees and displaced people, and cost the nation between $5 trillion and $7 trillion. He does not call for worker ownership of factories and businesses. He does not promise to halt the government’s wholesale surveillance of the public. He does not intend to punish corporations that have moved manufacturing overseas. Most importantly, he believes, as I do not, that the political system, including the Democratic Party, can be reformed from within. He does not support sustained mass civil disobedience to bring the system down, the only hope we have of halting the climate emergency that threatens to doom the human race. On the political spectrum, he is, at best, an enlightened moderate.”

The Democratic Party leaders are acutely aware that in a functioning democracy, one where the rich do not buy elections and send lobbyists to Washington and state capitals to write laws and legislation, one where the danger of oligarchic rule is understood and part of the national debate, they would be out of a job.

The Democrats, like the Republicans, serve the interests of the pharmaceutical and insurance industries. The Democrats, like the Republicans, serve the interests of the defense contractors. The Democrats, like the Republicans, serve the interests of the fossil fuel industry. The Democrats, along with the Republicans, authorized $738 billion for our bloated military in fiscal 2020. The Democrats, like the Republicans, do not oppose the endless wars in the Middle East. The Democrats, like the Republicans, took from us our civil liberties, including the right to privacy, freedom from wholesale government surveillance, and due process. The Democrats, like the Republicans, legalized unlimited funding from the rich and corporations to transform our electoral process into a system of legalized bribery. 
The Democrats, like the Republicans, militarized our police and built a system of mass incarceration that has 25% of the world’s prisoners, although the United States has only 5% of the world’s population. The Democrats, like the Republicans, are the political face of the oligarchy.

The leaders of the Democratic Party — the Clintons, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Tom Perez — would rather implode the party and the democratic state than surrender their positions of privilege. The Democratic Party is not a bulwark against despotism. It is the guarantor of despotism. It is a full partner in the class project. Its lies, deceit, betrayal of working men and women and empowering of corporate pillage made a demagogue like Trump possible. Any threat to the class project, even the tepid one that would be offered by Sanders as the party’s nominee, will see the Democratic elites unite with the Republicans to keep Trump in power.

What will we do if the oligarchs in the Democratic Party once again steal the nomination from Sanders? Will we finally abandon a system that has always been gamed against us? 
Will we turn on the oligarchic state to build parallel, popular institutions to protect ourselves and to pit power against power? Will we organize unions, third parties and militant movements that speak in the language of class warfare? Will we form community development organizations that provide local currencies, public banks and food cooperatives? Will we carry out strikes and sustained civil disobedience to wrest power back from the oligarchs to save ourselves and our planet?

In 2016 I did not believe that the Democratic elites would permit Sanders to be the nominee and feared, correctly, they would use him after the convention to herd his followers into the voting booths for Hillary Clinton. I do not believe this animus against Sanders has changed in 2020. The theft this time may be more naked, and for this reason more revealing of the forces involved. If all this plays out as I expect and if those on the left continue to put their faith and energy into the Democratic Party, they are not simply willfully naive but complicit in their own enslavement. No successful political movement will be built within the embrace of the Democratic Party, nor will such a movement be built in one election cycle. The struggle to end oligarchic rule will be hard and bitter. It will take time. It will require self-sacrifice, including sustained protest and going to jail. It will be rooted in class warfare. The oligarchs will stop at nothing to crush it. Open, nonviolent revolt against the oligarchic state is our only hope. Oligarchic rule must be destroyed. If we fail, our democracy, and finally our species, will become extinct.

Warren Buffett over de belangrijkste zaak van de huidige tijd

Hoorde afgelopen zaterdagmiddag op WDR5 dat Warren Buffett een antwoord heeft gegeven op wat voor hem de belangrijkste zaak van de huidige tijd is. Welnu: de belangrijkste zaak is de oorlog tussen rijk en arm, aldus Buffett...... Deze oorlog is volgens Buffett door de (super) welgestelden aangegaan en zal ook door deze kleine groep worden gewonnen.......

Je zou kunnen stellen dat dit hetzelfde is als een open deur inschoppen, echter als de op 2 na rijkste man van de wereld iets dergelijks zegt, is het wel degelijk vermeldenswaard.

Buffett zet zich overigens wel in tegen armoede, nee niet niet als iemand die arme burgers wil verslaan of vermoorden, maar als filantroop die veel van zijn kapitaal weg zou hebben gegeven voor het bestrijden van armoede....* Dient nog wel opgemerkt te worden dat figuren als Buffett al zolang ze rijk zijn, veel te weinig belasting hebben betaald...... Bovendien wordt het 'weggeven van geld' fiks beloond in de VS, door deze welgestelden een nog lagere belasting te laten betalen, ofwel giften zijn voor een fiks deel aftrekbaar van de belasting.......

688.000 arme VS burgers raken voedselbonnen kwijt door bezuiniging inhumane Trump administratie......

Op 30 november schreef ik al over de voorgenomen bezuinigingen van de Trump administratie op voedselbonnen*. Nu blijkt dat de eerste bezuiniging op voedselbonnen maar liefst 688.000 arme VS burgers treft.....

Mensen tussen de 18 en 49 jaar krijgen dan nog voor 3 maanden voedselbonnen als ze niet meer dan 20 uur per week werken.... Een uitermate smerige streek daar veel mensen door slechte omstandigheden niet meer aan de bak kunnen komen dan een beperkt aantal uren per week, waarmee ze een inkomen verdienen dat onvoldoende is om van te leven..... (trouwens ook van het minimumloon kan men in de VS, precies als in ons land, niet fatsoenlijk rondkomen...) Zie overigens waar wij naar toe gaan met steeds meer zogenaamde zzp'ers en uitzendkrachten die amper rond kunnen komen. Het voorgaande nog buiten de uitbuiting middels 'payrolling.....'

Onbegrijpelijk dan ook dat we steeds weer de VS volgen in slechte voorbeelden.... Hoe kan je gvd zo omgaan met mensen?? Nogmaals: dit is een ernstige vorm van terreur waardoor nog meer mensen in de VS honger zullen lijden......

Dit alles anno 2019, alsof we terug zijn in 1819 en dan durven we te zeggen dat we in het westen in een 'beschaafde maatschappij' leven........ 

Zoals in mijn eerdere artikel aangehaald, Trump heeft de welgestelden een cadeau gegeven van houd je vast: 1,5 biljoen dollar en laat de armen dus tegelijkertijd honger lijden.......

Wij hoeven ons overigens niet op de borst te kloppen, daar de Ombudsman en Kinderombudsvrouw eergisteren met een CBS rapport kwamen waaruit blijkt dat het aantal daklozen in 10 jaar tijd onder de 'bezielende inhumane neoliberale leiding' van topleugenaar Rutte is verdubbeld tot 40.000...... (mede met dank aan de PvdA en de christelijke partijen CDA, CU en SGP......) Onder die daklozen een fiks aantal kinderen van wie enkelen zoals hun ouders in een auto moeten leven, een schande van jewelste!! Op een later tijdstip meer daarover.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans who rely on the federal food stamp program will lose their benefits under a new Trump administration rule that will tighten work requirements for recipients.

The move by the administration is the latest in its attempt to scale back the social safety net for low-income Americans. It is the first of three proposed rules targeting the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as Snap, to be finalized. The program feeds more than 36 million people.

The plan will limit states from exempting work-eligible adults from having to maintain steady employment in order to receive benefits.

The agriculture department estimates the change would save roughly $5.5bn over five years and cut benefits for roughly 688,000 Snap recipients. That’s down from its original estimate that 750,000 people would lose benefits.

Under current rules, work-eligible able-bodied adults without dependants and between the ages of 18 and 49 can currently receive only three months of Snap benefits in a three-year period if they don’t meet the 20-hour work requirement. But states with high unemployment rates or a demonstrable lack of sufficient jobs can waive those time limits.

The new rule imposes stricter criteria states must meet in order to issue waivers. Under the plan, states can only issue waivers if a city or county has an unemployment rate of 6% or higher. The waivers will be good for one year and will require the governor to support the request.

The final rule will go into effect in April.

The agriculture secretary, Sonny Perdue, said the rule will help move people “from welfare to work”.

Congressional Democrats and advocates for the poor were quick to condemn the administration’s actions.

Senator Debbie Stabenow said the plan will only serve to punish workers whose jobs are seasonal or unreliable.

“This administration is out of touch with families who are struggling to make ends meet by working seasonal jobs or part time jobs with unreliable hours,” said Stabenow, the top Democrat on the Senate committee on agriculture, nutrition and forestry.

Robert Greenstein, the president of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, said the rule would disproportionately affect minorities. He urged better job training and a higher minimum wage instead.

“Denying them basic food and nutrition is not the route that a fair and compassionate administration of either party should take,” he said in a statement.

Over the past year the agriculture department has proposed three significant changes to the food stamp program. In addition to restricting time limit waivers, the USDA has proposed eliminating broad-based categorical eligibility, a measure that allows recipients of certain non-cash public benefits to automatically qualify for food stamps, and changing how utility costs are factored into benefit calculations.

Brandon Lipps, the deputy under secretary for the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Nutrition and Consumer Services, did not say when the department will finalize the other two proposed rules.

The Urban Institute in a study released last month estimated that taken together, the three measures would affect roughly 2.2m households, and 3.7 million individual beneficiaries.

James D Weill, the president of the Food Research and Action Center, said the plan is “deeply flawed and ill-conceived“ and would lead to higher rates of hunger and poverty.

“The final rule would cause serious harm to individuals, communities and the nation while doing nothing to improve the health and employment of those impacted by the rule,” he said.

VS presidentschap wordt gekocht met 100 dollar per uitgebrachte stem

Sam Pizzigati schreef op Inequality (door mij overgenomen van Information Clearing House) een artikel over de kosten die kandidaten maken voor het VS presidentschap. Pizzigati keek vooral naar Michael Bloomberg, de Republikein die volgend jaar als Democraat opgaat voor dat presidentschap.

Bloomberg (een media plutocraat) is 3 keer burgemeester van New York geweest. In 2001 gaf Bloomberg $74 miljoen uit om zich verkozen te krijgen, ofwel $99 per stem..... In 2005 werd dit bedrag verhoogd naar $85 miljoen ofwel $112 per stem..... Voor de herverkiezing van 2009 ging het bedrag nog een stuk verder de lucht in, maar liefst $102 miljoen wat gelijkstaat aan $174 per gekochte stem, dit was wel de zwaarste verkiezing voor Bloomberg en hij won deze herverkiezing met slechts 51% van de stemmen......

Nu Bloomberg opgaat voor het presidentschap van de VS is het de vraag hoeveel hij nu nodig zal hebben per stem om verkozen te worden. Trump had in 2016 een aantal van 63 miljoen stemmen nodig om de verkiezingen van 2016 'te winnen'. Veronderstel dat dit in 2020 ook zo zou zijn en Bloomberg zou $100 per stem nodig hebben, zou hem dit $6,3 miljard kosten, een bedrag dat hij makkelijk kan ophoesten met een totaal vermogen van $52 miljard......

De andere kandidaten van de Democratische Partij, m.n. Bernie Sanders en Elizabeth Warren hebben al beloofd dat ze de welgestelden fiks zullen aanpakken via de belasting, één van de redenen dat Bloomberg meedoet in het Democratische kamp (hij is daar uiteraard tegen), dit zou hem in het eerste jaar al $3 miljard aan belastinguitgaven kosten en na 2 jaar zou dit al zijn opgelopen tot $6 miljard..... Kortom het is uiterst lucratief voor Bloomberg om mee te doen aan de verkiezingen!! Overigens, een adviseur van Bloomberg stelt dat Bloomberg lang niet zoveel nodig heeft als de hiervoor en hierna genoemde kosten van $6,3 miljard, deze schat de kosten voor de voorverkiezingen in de Democratische Partij op $500 miljoen, waar Sanders en Warren over een bedrag beschikken van rond de $25 miljoen. Bloomberg kan met gemak 10 keer zoveel uitgeven, waar hij het grootste deel aan het eind van het jaar al heeft terugverdiend.....

Nogmaals toont e.e.a. aan dat de verkiezingen in de VS in feite niets meer met democratie te maken hebben, maar meer met het geld dat een kandidaat ter beschikking staat. Een welgestelde president kan daarna zijn kapitaal via diverse maatregelen veilig stellen, bijvoorbeeld door bepaalde wetten door te drukken, dan wel te schrappen (mits deze een meerderheid heeft in het liefst de Senaat en het Congres)..... Het mag zogenaamd niet, maar het is wel duidelijk dat het presidentschap Trump al miljoenen moet hebben opgebracht, alleen al door gasten van het Witte Huis onderdak te bieden in zijn hotel, of gasten aan de VN in zijn hotel in New York. Zie voorts ook al de banen die hij familieleden heeft toebedeeld.... Wie dit nog een democratie noemt is rijp voor de basisschool of de psychiater....

Mocht Bloomberg de verkiezingen winnen, is het laatste verschil tussen de Democratische Partij en de Republikeinen verdwenen, ofwel dan maakt het totaal niet meer uit op wie je stemt in de VS en zijn de verkiezingen plus de democratie daar definitief tot een lachertje verworden.....

December 02, 2019 "Information Clearing House" - Gracie Mansion, the official residence of New York’s mayors since 1942, hosted billionaire Michael Bloomberg for three terms.

The first of these terms began after Bloomberg, then the Republican candidate for mayor, spent an incredible $74 million to get himself elected in 2001. He spent, in effect, $99 for every vote he received.

Four years later, Bloomberg — who made his fortune selling high-tech information systems to Wall Street — had to spend even more to get himself re-elected. His 2005 campaign bill came to $85 million, about $112 per vote.

In 2009, he had the toughest sledding yet. Bloomberg first had to maneuver his way around term limits, then convince a distinctly unenthusiastic electorate to give him a majority. Against a lackluster Democratic Party candidate, Bloomberg won that majority — but just barely, with 51 percent of the vote.

That majority cost Bloomberg $102 million, or $174 a vote.

Now Bloomberg has announced he’s running for president as a Democrat, arguing he has the best chance of unseating President Trump, whom he describes as an “existential threat.” Could he replicate his lavish New York City campaign spending at the national level? Could he possibly afford to shell $174 a vote nationwide — or even just $99 a vote?

Let’s do the math. Donald Trump won the White House with just under 63 million votes. We can safely assume that Bloomberg would need at least that 63 million. At $100 a vote, a victory in November 2020 would run Bloomberg $6.3 billion.

Bloomberg is currently sitting on a personal fortune worth $52 billion. He could easily afford to invest $6.3 billion in a presidential campaign — or even less on a primary.

Indeed, $6.3 billion might even rate as a fairly sensible business investment. Several of the other presidential candidates are calling for various forms of wealth taxes. If the most rigorous of these were enacted, Bloomberg’s grand fortune would shrink substantially — by more than $3 billion next year, according to one estimate.

In other words, by undercutting wealth tax advocates, Bloomberg would save over $6 billion in taxes in just two years — enough to cover the cost of a $6.3 billion presidential campaign, give or take a couple hundred million.

Bloomberg, remember, wouldn’t have to win the White House to stop a wealth tax. He would just need to run a campaign that successfully paints such a tax as a clear and present danger to prosperity, a claim he has already started making.

Bloomberg wouldn’t even need to spend $6.3 billion to get that deed done. Earlier this year, one of Bloomberg’s top advisers opined that $500 million could take his candidate through the first few months of the primary season.

How would that $500 million compare to the campaign war chests of the two primary candidacies Bloomberg fears most? Bernie Sanders raised $25.3 million in 2019’s third quarter for his campaign, Elizabeth Warren $24.6 million. Both candidates are collecting donations — from small donors — at a $100 million annual pace.

Bloomberg could spend 10 times that amount on a presidential campaign and still, given his normal annual income, end the year worth several billion more than when the year started.

Most Americans don’t yet believe that billionaires shouldn’t exist. But most Americans do believe that America’s super rich shouldn’t be able to buy elections or horribly distort their outcomes.

But unfortunately, they can — or at least, you can be sure they’ll try.
