Grote bendes met apen vechten voor voedsel op de straten van Thailand

Ongelofelijk maar waar: in Thailand vechten grote bendes met apen voor voedsel dat ze 'normaal' van toeristen krijgen...... Ofwel ook apen vechten als mensen voor zaken die schaars zijn geworden door de Coronacrisis...... Eén en ander toont nog eens de noodzaak aan van een verbod op het voeren van wilde dieren, zoals dit in dierentuinen al decennialang is verboden.

Het gaat hier om 2 groepen met apen, één die zich gebruikelijk ophoudt in tempelcomplexen en de andere groep die zich in de steden ophoudt. Wel slim dat ze de tegenstanders herkennen en weten wie zich in de 'eigen gelederen' bevindt. De 2 bendes ontmoeten elkaar in de zoektocht naar voedsel, daar de toeristen, die hen gewoonlijk voeden, het massaal laten afweten vanwege het Coronavirus.....

Het geweld dat de tegengestelde groepen tegen elkaar gebruiken, choqueert zelfs de inwoners van de steden waar e.e.a. plaatsvindt.

Coronavirus isn't just causing humans to fight in the aisles of Target over toilet paper. Today in "signs of the apocalypse", hungry monkey gangs are also swarming and fighting - for food - on the streets of Thailand. 

Monkeys in the country are usually well fed by tourists who visit Central Thailand, but visitors have plummeted as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, which has hit the Asian region hard. 

The animals shown in a video are reported to be two separate "rival gangs" that dwell in the city, according to the Daily Mail. 

Half of the monkeys are said to live in the temple areas, while the others live in the city. The two groups don't usually meet but ended up doing so this past week.

The animals are shown wandering separately looking for food, but once one monkey finds a banana, the chase is on. 

The ferocity of the animals shocked even locals, who are used to seeing the monkeys on a daily basis. One onlooker, who captured video, said: "They looked more like wild dogs than monkeys. They went crazy for the single piece of food. I've never seen them this aggressive."

The onlooker explained: "I think the monkeys were very, very hungry. There's normally a lot of tourists here to feed the monkeys but now there are not as many, because of the coronavirus."

Taiji (Japan): het 'jachtseizoen is gesloten', ofwel de bloedige slachtpartijen op dolfijnen 'zijn voor even afgelopen'

In het Japanse Taiji is het halfjaarlijkse 'jachtseizoen' gesloten, een seizoen waarin zoals gewoonlijk dolfijnen naar de baai bij Taiji worden gedreven om, daar op een afschuwelijke manier te worden vermoord met bijlen enz.....

Al jaren ook is er verzet tegen deze vreselijke gang van zaken en de organisatie 'Dolphin Project' heeft een aantal vrijwilligers naar Taiji gestuurd, zij houden de gang van zaken nauwlettend in het oog en rapporteren over het aantal afgeslachte dolfijnen (al zullen deze cijfers waarschijnlijk veel hoger liggen dan men aangeeft, alleen al vanwege het feit dat bij de drijfjachten ook dolfijnen omkomen....).... Wel kunnen zij precies aangeven welke dolfijnen worden vermoord en uiteraard hoe walgelijk e.e.a. gebeurt.

Afgelopen seizoen zijn er 130 keer dolfijnen naar de baai van Taiji gedreven en in totaal werden er 8 soorten dolfijnen vermoord en zelfs kleine dolfijnen zijn niet veilig zodat hele sociale groepen van dolfijnen (inclusief moeders met kinderen) op een vreselijke manier worden uitgemoord........

Als je nog tot de mensen behoort die dolfinaria bezoeken: dolfijnen trainers staan zij aan zij met de moordenaars en kiezen dan de dieren uit die naar dolfinaria moeten...... Stop ajb je bezoek aan deze hel voor walvisachtigen, die het best te vergelijken is met een gevangenis en zegt het voort! Deze dolfinaria verschuilen zich achter wetenschappelijk onderzoek, conservatie en educatie, met deze belachelijke dooddoeners denkt men zich te kunnen vrijwaren van kritiek, precies als de Japanners die nog steeds op walvisachtigen jagen, niet zo vreemd als je ziet dat trainers van deze dolfinaria aanwezig zijn bij dit soort slachtingen........ Vergeet verder niet dat het sterftecijfer van walvisachtigen als orka's hoog is in deze dolfinaria, sterfte die optreedt ver voor het eind van de verwachte levensduur van deze slimme dieren...... Het zou mooi zijn als men naast het stoppen van bezoeken aan dolfinaria, Japan niet langer ziet als vakantieland en alle artikelen boycot die dat land exporteert, deze barbaarse slachtingen moeten eindelijk afgelopen zijn!!

Dolphin Project can confirm that on March 1, Taiji’s drive hunts ended for the 2019/20 season. During the entire six-month long hunting season, our dedicated team of Cove Monitors stood on the ground, documenting each and every drive, where dolphins were routinely subjected to harassment, suffering and abuse. Along with you, we witnessed dolphins chased, injured, manhandled, run-over by skiffs, dragged, drowned, taken captive and slaughtered. Entire pods of dolphins were decimated, from the very young to the very old.

This season, a total of 130 drives took place involving eight species of dolphins. We estimate 560 dolphins were slaughtered, while 180 were taken captive. Many more may have died as a result of the drives themselves, their numbers never recorded.

Taiji’s Drive Season Statistics, 2007-2020

As evidenced in previous years, dolphin trainers worked closely alongside dolphin hunters, choosing which mammals would be appropriate for “life” in captivity, and which would be slaughtered. Marine parks and aquariums often use the terms “conservation” and “education” when describing their captive dolphin displays. The reality however, lies in the bloody waters of this tiny Japanese town: demand for captive entertainment is what fuels Taiji’s drive hunts. Captive dolphin displays, including swim-with-dolphins programs aren’t educational, nor are they entertainment. They are exploitative, and often responsible for the destruction of entire dolphin pods.

Compared to last year, 61 fewer dolphins were taken captive, thus, it’s imperative that we continue to keep the pressure on by educating the world why we need to say NO to the dolphin show.

While the tarps that dolphins are dragged under to be slaughtered or taken captive are in the process of being taken down, and the banger poles used to drive dolphins into the Cove are in the process of being removed, Dolphin Project will continue to educate on the cruelties of dolphin captivity. No matter the sophistication of a captive dolphin environment, the natural world of which dolphins are uniquely adapted for simply cannot be replicated.

Dolphin Project extends a huge “THANK YOU” to those who watched our live streams, shared our social media and blogs and took the pledge to NOT buy a ticket to a dolphin show. Sri Lankaanse olifanten slachtoffer van uitputting door toerisme en vergiftiging door bevolking

Olifant Tikiiri is onlangs overleden, zij haalde vorig jaar nog de internationale media toen foto's van haar verschenen waarop te zien was hoe mager en oververmoeid ze was.....

Echter niet alleen olifanten als Tikiiri, waarvan er zo'n 60 op Sri Lanka zijn, olifanten die toeristen moeten vermaken, lopen gevaar het loodje te leggen, ook de nog in de wildernis wonende olifanten zijn hun leven niet zeker, zo gauw ze in 'aanraking komen' met de mens worden ze vergiftigd of op een andere manier vermoord...... 

In 2019 werden er volgens activisten 361 vermoord, ofwel dagelijks gemiddeld 1......

Update: Tikiiri the Elephant Died as She Lived, Neglected and in Captivity.

We've got some sad news. We've learned that Tikiiri, the Sri Lankan elephant that captured the world's heart last year, has died! The world first learned of Tikiiri when images of the emaciated and exhausted elephant showed up online. She, along with 60 other elephants, had been forced to walk for miles as part of the annual Buddhist festival Esala Perahera.

The world was horrified when, in 2019, Kanakota the elephant collapsed and died in the streets of Sri Lanka from exhaustion after being forced to endure group after group of tourists strapped to his back. Now, as we enter a new decade, we're learning that Kanakota was not an outlier but rather a symbol of a much larger evil. In 2019, 361 elephants were killed in Sri Lanka, and almost 85% of the death count can be attributed to humans.

Sri Lanka must update its laws to make the punishment for killing an elephant proportionate and enforceable! Sign the petition today.

The nature of these killings is just as shocking as the number. Elephants are tangled up and fried in electric fences, blown up with explosives, and even poisoned. Just last September, 7 elephants all perished when they consumed food that had been laced with poison and set out as a trap. Farmers and villagers think they have the right to murder these elephants, whose only crimes are wandering into "human territory" looking for food. And who can blame them when their habitats and food sources are disappearing and turning into that very same "human territory?"

This astronomical death count makes up almost 5% of the entire country's wild elephant population. Killing these magnificent animals is illegal, but the government has failed to enforce this law consistently. Part of the problem is that, technically, the penalty for killing an elephant is death. This is unenforceable within the context of the country's Flora and Fauna Protection Ordinance, not to mention ludicrous, cruel, and outdated. Sri Lanka must create an entirely new, enforceable, and proportionate punishment for the slaying of elephants.

This must happen now. Sri Lanka's Parliament has a history of dragging its feet when it comes to the protection of animals. The Animal Welfare Bill, the country's first attempt to update animal cruelty law since 1907, gained Cabinet approval in 2016 and yet has stalled and languished in Parliament ever since. This is not a good sign.

Please sign the petition and urge Sri Lanka's government to act immediately and pass new, fairer, and enforceable punishments for murdering elephants.

In Tirol zet men 200 sneeuwkanonnen in voor de skipistes......

Hoorde afgelopen woensdagmiddag op WDR 5 het meer dan achterlijke bericht dat men in Tirol meer dan 200 sneeuwkanonnen heeft ingezet om de skipistes van een laag sneeuw te voorzien.... Overigens een hachelijke onderneming daar de temperatuur niet hoger mag zijn dan 3 graden Celsius boven nul, anders verdwijnt de sneeuw meteen en de temperatuur schijnt momenteel rond die temperatuur te schommelen......

E.e.a. leidde tot een discussie over het op grote schaal verspillen van energie met die sneeuwkanonnen, waardoor de klimaatverandering, die zorgt dat er gemiddeld te weinig sneeuw valt in Tirol, nog verder wordt opgejaagd naar hogere temperaturen en er derhalve in de toekomst veel vaker nog minder sneeuw zal vallen in het gebied......

Niet volgens de bestuurders in dat gebied, zij stellen dat die sneeuw toerisme trekt en dat is goed voor een groot aantal arbeidsplaatsen, een argument dat je veel vaker hoort in de discussie over de klimaatverandering, waar de lijpo's die dit stellen niet doorhebben dat wanneer het vaste land van de wereld voor een fiks deel onder water komt te staan, er juist heel veel werk op de fles zal gaan en er 'duizenden miljarden' letterlijk door de put weg zullen stromen...... Ofwel: de vervuiling door energieverspilling is een uiterst kostbare kwestie, die men nog steeds niet wil meerekenen in de kostprijs voor een groot aantal zaken..... (in feite geldt dat voor alle verbruik van energie, ook al wordt deze niet verspild...)

Lullig dat juist de arme landen het slachtoffer zijn van de klimaatverandering (waar de VS een uitzondering op is; hoewel als je de totale staatsschuld van dit gestolen land ziet....??), deze landen hebben jaarlijks vele doden te betreuren door toenemend natuurgeweld, het gevolg van de klimaatverandering, om nog maar te zwijgen over de materiële schade die daardoor wordt aangericht......

Het niet meenemen van de schade door de klimaatverandering zie je overigens ook in Nederland met de meer dan volkomen ontoereikende maatregelen die men wil nemen om de klimaatverandering nog enigszins af te remmen...... Rutte wil t.a.v. het belasten van bedrijven voor de CO2 uitstoot: "een verstandige heffing", waarmee hij bedoelt dat deze bedrijven amper meer zullen gaan betalen voor een uitstoot die het gasverbruik van huizen in Nederland ver te boven gaat, maar waar wij nu maandelijks al wel voor moeten dokken......

De economische en ecologische gezondheid van bossen in Alaska

Hoe kan je het volk nog harder belazeren dan ooit voor mogelijk gehouden? Niet zelden komt daar een antwoord op, vooral van neoliberale politici, echter in het hieronder opgenomen artikel is het een ambtenaar van het Unites States Department of Agriculture (USDA), boswachter David Schmidt, die spreekt over de 'ecologische en economische gezondheid van bossen'.

In een lullig en uiterst tegen strijdig schrijven stelt deze flapdrol dat de bossen van Alaska beschermd kunnen worden en er tegelijk grote commerciële activiteiten kunnen worden ontwikkeld.... Alsof een arts een longpatiënt die nooit gerookt heeft, het advies geeft te gaan roken en in de buurt van grote wegen te gaan wonen....

Opvallend trouwens: in ons land pleiten de VVD, het CDA, de PvdA, CU en PVV er al langer voor commerciële activiteiten te ontwikkelen in het kleine beetje natuur dat we nog hebben......

As we move forward with developing an Alaska Roadless Rule, two themes emerge from Alaskans about the Tongass National Forest. Whether they support or oppose the current rule, I hear that 1) the forest is unique and requires unique regulation, 2) the forest offers an abundance of opportunities.

Imagine that we can do what is best for Alaska in terms of how we influence the ecological and economic health of the forest; are mindful of the demand for restoration and recreation; grow more jobs through timber, tourism, commercial fishing, and mining; and increase access for transportation and utility infrastructure. Now imagine we can do all this while we further protect the environment, fish and wildlife habitats, and subsistence activities.

The roadless rulemaking process provides an opportunity for everyone to be a part of this historic effort. I invite you to look for opportunities on the timeline offered in this bulletin and to participate during comment periods when announced; ask us to present a Roadless Rulemaking Overview for your organization or community; attend public meetings; or simply follow the process through this bulletin and the information resources that are available.

By working together—citizens, tribal governments, state and municipal governments, Alaska Native corporations, and other constituency groups—we can accomplish our combined goal to support the rural communities of Alaska, while conserving lands that are important to all Americans and to visitors from other countries.

Voorts moeten Palestijnen zich dagelijks laten vernederen door jonge psychopathische Israëlische moordenaars in het uniform van het meer dan smerige Israëlische leger en dat niet één keer maar meermaals (per dag...)....

Zelfs CDA'er van Agt, tijdens zijn premierschap van Nederland een enorme schoft, spreekt schande van het Israëlische optreden op de West Bank en in de Gazastrook, waar de laatste een openluchtgevangenis is voor Palestijnse gezinnen, ofwel een getto en vergelijkbaar met het getto van Warschau tijdens WOII..... (Israëlische officieren hebben begin 90er jaren de klok geluid over hun opleiding in het leger, waar ze les kregen uit een SS handboek waarin o.a. wordt uitgelegd hoe je een getto gewelddadig onder de duim kan houden........)

Onbegrijpelijk ook dat de westerse wereld Israël niet alleen met dit soort barbaarse moorden laat begaan en zelfs geen sancties treft na massamoorden die door deze fascistische apartheidsstaat voor de camera worden begaan, terwijl men zich wel druk maakt over Venezuela, alsof de situatie daar 10 keer zo erg is als die in de Palestijnse gebieden, waar het geweld van Israël vele keren het 'geweld' van de Venezolaanse politie en het leger overtreft.....

Now it’s up to us to make sure the other travel companies also do the right thing and end complicity with Israel’s illegal and discriminatory settlement policy.

By boosting the settlement tourism industry and, as a result, the settlement economy, Booking. com, Expedia and TripAdvisor are contributing to the maintenance, development and expansion of illegal settlements. Their promotion of settlements as a tourist destination normalizes and legitimizes Israeli settlements, which are considered war crimes under international criminal law. 

Continuing to do business in these settlements remains one of the greatest obstacles to peace.

Help us tell Booking.com, Expedia, and Trip Advisor and other travel booking companies  to follow Airbnb's lead and remove settlement homes from their sites immediately. Settlements are stolen Palestinian land. They should not be tourist destinations!

Together, we can end international support for the occupation and build the movement that will help secure  human rights in Palestine.

Tyler Durden publiceerde afgelopen zaterdag op Zero Hedge foto's en video's over de eerder die dag plaatsgevonden demonstraties in Parijs en andere Franse steden.

Durden weet het waarschijnlijk niet (hoewel?) maar als ambtenaren of de politie van welk EU land dan ook, met cijfers komt betreffende een protest , kan je daar meestal de helft van dat aantal bij optellen. Volgens zeggen zouden er 125.000 deelnemers aan de Gele Hesjes demo's hebben meegedaan. In totaal zouden er afgelopen zaterdag 1.385 demonstranten zijn gearresteerd tijdens de protesten......

Vandaag werd overigens bekend gemaakt dat Macron weer een aantal maatregelen terug heeft gedraaid en dat het minimumloon met € 100,-- wordt verhoogd, benieuwd of dit genoeg is tegen de protesten........

Update3: As the evening wore on, French officials said that 125,000 protesters took to the streets during "Act IV" of the Yellow Vest anti-government demonstrations, with 10,000 protesting in Paris. In total, 1,385 people were arrested amid an incredibly heavy police presence. 

17 members of French law enforcement and over 100 protesters were injured, including a man whose hand was blown off after reportedly picking up a grenade fired by police.

The demonstrations began last month over a proposed fuel tax hike earmarked to pay for climate change measures, before the protests morphed into a general anti-government resistance. 

Update2: The French Interior Ministry has announced 1,385 arrests across the country, and that despite tensions remaining in some areas, the situation is "under control." Prime minister Édouard Philippe, however, noted that rioters are still at work in some French cities - adding that a dialogue with the Yellow Jackets has begun, and "must go on."

There are countless numbers of the yellow vest on the main street here in Paris all kettled in by police who won’t let them leave and are just tear gassing them.

At least 31,000 protesters came out for Saturday's "Act IV" event - coordinated through social media.

"The movement has given birth to a monster," said Interior Minister Christophe Canaster of the

Yellow Vests - which the Macron administration deployed 89,000 police and gendarmes to try and contain. 8,000 police forces were active in Paris alone.

"These past three weeks have produced a monster that its creators no longer control," Canaster said Friday, saying that the administration would have "zero tolerance" to those trying sow chaos.

Philippe on Friday evening met a delegation of self-described "moderate" yellow vests who urged people not to join the protests.

A spokesman from the movement, Christophe Chalencon, said Philippe had "listened to us and promised to take our demands to the president".

and respect and that he will take strong decisions," he said. -AFP

Paris has gone into lockdown as authorities and businesses prepare for the mayhem - as shops, banks, restaurants and other businesses boarded up to prevent anticipated looting and property destruction. As we reported on thursday, the Eiffel Tower will be among the shuttered tourist attractions around the city. 

Right after 10:00 a.m. local time the rally turned violent and police fired tear gas canisters into the crowd and deployed their fleet of VBRG armored vehicles next to the Arc de Triomphe, which was the site to last week's most intense violence.
