Nederland zou deel moeten uitmaken van de landen die tekenen voor een wereldwijde wapenstilstand

Antonio Guterres, secretaris-generaal van de VN, heeft de wereld opgeroepen om vanwege het Coronavirus alle gewelddadigheden te stoppen. Een mooi maar naïef streven, echter meer dan de moeite waard om te proberen! Nederland wordt door World Beyond War opgeroepen mee te doen en heeft daarom voor de Nederlanders een petitie opgesteld waarmee Rutte 3 wordt gevraagd onmiddellijk alle vijandigheden te staken en zich te voegen naar de oproep van Guterres. 

 

Nederland is één van de landen die weigeren om Irak te verlaten, hoewel de meerderheid van de bevolking daar de buitenlandse troepen zo snel mogelijk het land uit wil hebben...... Ja ja, Nederland doet nog steeds mee aan een illegale oorlog, één van de ergste oorlogsmisdaden op onze kleine planeet.......

Benieuwd wat Hennis-Plasschaert vindt van de oproep van haar baas (Guterres), immers zij is speciaal VN gezant voor Irak, ook al is zij medeschuldig aan de vele oorlogsmisdaden die in dat land plaatsvonden, een schoffering van de Iraakse bevolking die z'n weerga niet kent….... (wat ook Guterres is aan te rekenen...)

Beste bezoeker, het is vast en zeker niet nodig dat ik uitleg hoe belangrijk het is, juist nu tijdens de Coronacrisis alle vijandigheden te staken. Lees en teken de petitie ajb en geeft het door!! (één ding is zeker: als Rutte 3 weigert te voldoen aan de oproep van Guterres en aan de petitie die wij hebben getekend, kunnen de leden van dit disfunctionerende kabinet nooit zeggen: “Wir haben es nicht gewusst...”)

We need Netherlands to be part of the global ceasefire!

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres proposed this global ceasefire:

Our world faces a common enemy: COVID-19.

The virus does not care about nationality or ethnicity, faction or faith. It attacks all, relentlessly.

Meanwhile, armed conflict rages on around the world.

The most vulnerable — women and children, people with disabilities, the marginalized and the displaced — pay the highest price.

They are also at the highest risk of suffering devastating losses from COVID-19.

Let’s not forget that in war-ravaged countries, health systems have collapsed.

Health professionals, already few in number, have often been targeted.

Refugees and others displaced by violent conflict are doubly vulnerable.

The fury of the virus illustrates the folly of war.

That is why today, I am calling for an immediate global ceasefire in all corners of the world.

It is time to put armed conflict on lockdown and focus together on the true fight of our lives.

To warring parties, I say:

Pull back from hostilities.

Put aside mistrust and animosity.

Silence the guns; stop the artillery; end the airstrikes.

This is crucial…

To help create corridors for life-saving aid.

To open precious windows for diplomacy.

To bring hope to places among the most vulnerable to COVID-19.

Let us take inspiration from coalitions and dialogue slowly taking shape among rival parties in some parts to enable joint approaches to COVID-19. But we need much more.

End the sickness of war and fight the disease that is ravaging our world.

It starts by stopping the fighting everywhere. Now.

That is what our human family needs, now more than ever.

1) Sign the petition for a global ceasefire.

2) Contact your nation’s government and get a clear commitment to engaging in the ceasefire (not just urging others to do so).
