Nee, het was geen aanslag noch terreur toen de dader met zijn auto inreed op een kerstoptocht in Waukesha, zo liet de politiecommandant weten. 

Ja hij doodde weliswaar 5 mensen en verwondde er minstens 48, maar dat kan je zomaar geen aanslag noch terreurdaad noemen.

Wat zegt u mevrouw? Oh dat er wel 5 doden zijn te betreuren omdat een man met opzet inreed op een kerstoptocht en ik dat desondanks geen aanslag of terreur noem, terwijl u vindt dat het er toch wel erg veel van weg heeft. Ja daar heeft u wel een punt mevrouw, maar de dader is een man die ruzie had met z'n vrouw, waarbij de politie werd gewaarschuwd vanwege huiselijk geweld en om die te ontlopen in z'n auto stapte en expres op de mensen inreed, dat kan u toch met de beste wil van de wereld geen aanslag of terreurdaad noemen?? 

Kijk mevrouw, als de man nu moslim was geweest had de situatie er 180 graden anders uitgezien, ik neem aan dat u dat wel zal begrijpen, toch??

Big Tech verkoopt oorlog

De troepen moeten naar huis, aldus Joe Bidens 'nieuwe inzicht'. Immers eerder stond hij achter de illegale oorlogen tegen Afghanistan, Irak, Libië en Syrië, daarnaast was hij als vicepresident mede verantwoordelijk voor de coup tegen de democratisch gekozen Oekraïense president Janoekovytsj en de daaruit voortvloeiende oorlog tegen de bevolking van Oost-Oekraïne, dat niet wenste te leven onder de door de VS geïnstalleerde neonazi-junta o.l.v. de corrupte schoft Porosjenko....... 

Intussen blijft de VS gewoon doorgaan met bombardementen en aanslagen middels drones, waarmee al tienduizenden mensen zijn vermoord, terwijl meer dan 90% van de slachtoffers niet eens werd verdacht van terreur...... Voorts worden ook geheime CIA acties in het buitenland niet uitgesloten, waarbij speciaal opgeleide commando's dood en verderf zaaien.......

De grote technologie bedrijven profiteren van de nieuwe vorm van oorlogvoering, bovendien maken ze deze oorlogen mogelijk door het verzamelen van gegevens over individuen en het klaarmaken van de geest bij het grote publiek voor deze vorm van oorlogsvoering dit door het zaaien van haat tegen moslims en landen die niet braaf aan de hand van de VS wensen te lopen......

We're unveiling the connections between Big Tech and the global war on terror this Thursday

That is the name of a project we are releasing this Thursday in partnership with MPower Change and LittleSis through our Crescendo program, which focuses on research and campaigns against corporations complicit in and profiting from Islamophobia and anti-Muslim violence.

Big Tech Sells War highlights the many ways Big Tech is selling war on Muslim and other Black and brown communities within and outside the United States. While weapons manufacturers have rightly gotten much attention as war profiteers, tech also has a major role in war against our communities.

War now happens in ways beyond ground troops and invasions. The tools needed to fight this kind of “war” are different and focused on what the tech and military industries refer to as the “digital battlefield,” where metadata, drones, and artificial intelligence (AI) do the killing in the name of efficiency.

So from aiding drones that have killed tens of thousands of people in Muslim majority countries to creating the software and systems that produce the many databases that are used to surveil and collect private data on our communities, Big Tech has been a critical support to US warmongering and imperialism in the last two decades.

Bringing troops home while tech continues the wars in other ways means the war continues but just looks different. A kind of warfare that is deemed more “efficient” but is no less inhumane.

With the help of Big Tech, the United States continues to repress our communities and police the world, serving as an occupying force, waging airwars, and spreading Islamophobic ideology across the globe. But as demands to end the endless wars and for abolition grow, as well as increasing pushback against the wide range ways Big Tech is harming communities, we must tackle how Big Tech also sells war and end their profiteering and complicity.

We hope this project will help us do just that. Follow us on our social media accounts as we share our findings this Thursday and Friday.

Joe Biden (Democratisch presidentskandidaat): Rusland trekt bondgenootschappen uit elkaar

Joe Biden de presidentskandidaat voor de Democraten vindt het nodig om nog harder te blaffen tegen landen als Rusland, China, Iran en Venezuela, dan Trump heeft gedaan de afgelopen jaren..... Zo stelt hij dat Rusland bondgenootschappen uit elkaar trekt..... Met bondgenootschappen bedoelt Biden eufemistisch het baas spelen over andere NAVO-lidstaten (waar de VS al sinds de oprichting van dit bondgenootschap de militaire leider is van de NAVO, Ap). Rusland zou de kwaadaardige partij zijn die chaos zaait en de VS macht ondermijnt........ Eén en ander is onderdeel van de analyse die Finian Cunningham geeft in het artikel dat hieronder is opgenomen.

Cunningham stelt dat Rusland allesbehalve nodig is om het trans-Atlantische bondgenootschap op te blazen, dat kan dit bondgenootschap zelf uitstekend, gezien de ontwikkelingen van het laatste jaar..... Sterker nog: het is Rusland die probeert de boel te sussen in het gebied van de Middellandse Zee wat betreft Cyprus, waar NAVO-partners Griekenland en Turkije tegenover elkaar staan, het land heeft zelfs aangeboden te bemiddelen tussen de partijen........

Gezien het voorgaande is het duidelijk dat Rusland de NAVO helpt, terwijl dit agressieve bondgenootschap, beter gezegd de op één na grootste terreurorganisaties ter wereld (de VS is verreweg de grootste), Rusland continu tart aan haar westgrenzen met militaire oefeningen waarbij haar straaljagers en marineschepen met grote regelmaat het Russische luchtruim resp. de territoriale wateren van Rusland schendt.......

Het voorgaande, terwijl Frankrijk en Italië Griekenland steunen in haar eis dat Turkije moet stoppen met het zoeken en eventueel exploreren van een groot gasveld voor de kust van Cyprus. De boel is intussen zoals je ongetwijfeld weet verder aan het escaleren door de moord van een radicale moslim die zijn docent ombracht en onthoofde, waarbij de Franse president Macron en de reli-fascistische Turkse president Erdogan elkaar in de haren vliegen en Erdogan Macron beschuldigt van het stimuleren van 'islamofobie.....'

Cunningham noemt als andere zaken die het NAVO-bondgenootschap ondermijnen de stationering in Turkije van het Russische S-400 luchtdoelraketsysteem, de strijd in Libië, waar Turkije en Italië een andere 'warlord' steunen dan Griekenland en Frankrijk..... Ook het conflict in Nagorno-Karabach verdeelt het bondgenootschap, waar Turkije de kant heeft gekozen van Azerbeidzjan en daar daadwerkelijk mee heeft geholpen aan de strijd, terwijl de VS, Frankrijk en Rusland daar de toestand rustig hebben proberen te houden met een OVSE Minsk 'team......' (OVSE: Organisatie voor Veiligheid en Samenwerking in Europa  >> internationaal:OSCE)

Finian stelt verder nog dat Duitsland pissig zou zijn over het verplaatsen van VS troepen vanuit Duitsland naar Polen en de Baltische Staten, echter daar twijfel ik aan, oké het kost wat werkgelegenheid maar er zijn meer dan voldoende burgers die de VS op Duits grondgebied meer dan zat zijn..... Daar dit onderdeel is van de eis van Trump dat de NAVO-partners meer zouden moeten bijdragen aan het bondgenootschap, is dit veel meer van belang, immers daardoor zou bij de andere NAVO partners de idee zijn ontstaan dat de de Trump administratie niet meer hecht aan het bondgenootschap. (wat feitelijk ook zo is)

Biden heeft beloofd het bondgenootschap te repareren als hij tot president wordt verkozen en dat betekent volgens Cunningham dat Biden meer troepen naar Europa zal sturen en de agressie tegen Rusland verder zal opvoeren...... Biden heeft dan ook gesteld dat Rusland het grootste gevaar vormt voor de VS en haar allianties.......

Met Rusland en China als aangewezen vijanden van de VS zou Biden de tegenstrijdigheden binnen de NAVO en die met de onderlinge 'bondgenootschappen' (dus met afzonderlijke NAVO-lidstaten) willen gladstrijken, daarbij zou de VS conflicten en zelfs oorlog nastreven ('niets beter dan oorlog om verstoorde vriendschappen te herstellen'), al heeft de VS daar de NAVO niet voor nodig, zoals ook de recente geschiedenis uitwijst..... (echter wel als zo'n oorlog eenmaal gaande is, terwijl de VS zonder meer kan rekenen op militaire steun van NAVO-partner Groot-Brittannië, zelfs al bij de illegale aanval op een zogenaamde vijand.....)

Volgens Cunningham zal dit een zware dobber worden voor Biden, zeker gezien de deplorabele toestand van de wereldeconomie door het Coronavirus, deze verscherpt de tegenstand tussen de partners binnen de NAVO en zal de poging van Biden om Rusland de schuld te geven van het uit elkaar trekken van de NAVO ('en bondgenootschappen') en zijn poging de boel te pamperen gedoemd te zijn te mislukken...... (althans als hij de verkiezingen wint......)

Natuurlijk zou Rusland graag zien dat de NAVO zich terugtrekt van haar grenzen, waar dit bondgenootschap Rusland keer op keer provoceert en waar de VS een zogenaamd anti-raketsysteem heeft geïnstalleerd in Polen en Roemenië (een systeem waarvan de raketten in een mum van tijd kunnen worden uitgerust met meerdere kernkoppen, zodat de VS de grote steden in Rusland kan treffen en waarmee de VS het door haarzelf opgezegde INF-verdrag schendt...).... Waar het terugtrekken van de VS uit andere akkoorden alleen de NAVO dreiging voor Rusland heeft vergroot.... Echter Rusland heeft niets van doen met het gekrakeel binnen de NAVO, dit heeft alles te maken met rivaliteit binnen de NAVO lidstaten en het verlies van de VS grip op dit bondgenootschap, zo eindigt Cunningham zijn artikel en ik kan hem daarin alleen maar gelijk geven!! (en laten we hopen dat de NAVO geheel uit elkaar valt, deze terreurorganisatie had al begin 90er jaren opgedoekt moeten worden, tegelijk met het Warschaupact!!)

Kortom je zou bijna hopen dat Trump wint, immers hij speelt de NAVO uit elkaar, waar Biden de VS terreur over de wereld verder zal vergroten...... Eén ding is zeker, als Bernie Sanders i.p.v. oorlogsmisdadiger Joe Biden de Democratische voorverkiezingen had gewonnen zou de situatie er heel anders uitzien.......

Biden fantasizes about Russia ‘tearing up US alliances’

October 29, 2020 "Information Clearing House" -  Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden has blamed Russia for “tearing up our alliances”. By “alliances”, he means euphemistically the US empire lording it over vassals among the NATO military bloc.

It’s a tedious charge repeatedly made against Moscow by Washington which views Russia as an ever-present bogeyman, masterminding chaos and undermining US power. If it were not for those damn Ruskies, so the reasoning goes, how happy and harmonious the “free world” and its American patron would be.

What Biden fails to notice or admit is the US-led transatlantic alliance is doing a pretty good job at blowing itself up without any help from Russia whatsoever. And a big factor has been the open contempt and bullying by the Trump administration over the past four years which serves to starkly show how subservient the European “allies” really are.

Ironically, just as Russia is accused yet again of sowing division, Moscow has in recent days called for the calming of tensions between NATO members Turkey and Greece in their dispute over East Mediterranean energy resources. Russia offered to mediate in the crisis. So much for trying to tear up alliances.

That’s not the only fracture line in the 30-nation military club. For months now, France and Italy are backing Greece in its long-running territorial conflict with Turkey over Cyprus and surrounding maritime areas. French President Emmanuel Macron has warned of “red lines” against Ankara.

Macron and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan are but the two lightning-rod figures for current tensions within NATO. Their jousting has taken on explosive heat this week over the controversy about French secularism and “Islamist separatism” after the beheading of a schoolteacher near Paris for displaying caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed.

Erdogan has slammed Macron for “encouraging Islamophobia” and being mentally retarded, a verbal onslaught which has prompted leaders from Germany and Netherlands to express solidarity with the French president. There are musings on whether Turkey should be allowed to remain part of NATO given the divergence in “shared values”.

The bad blood is oozing over other theaters of conflict where NATO members are in effect waging proxy wars. In Libya’s civil war, Italy has at times lined up with Turkey to back the Government of National Accord in Tripoli, while France and Greece are on the opposing side of strongman Khalifa Haftar and his Libyan National Army.

That stand-off has even seen reports of Turkey’s navy targeting French warships in the Mediterranean. Paris reacted furiously to “extreme aggression” by Turkey and withdrew from the NATO mission Operation Sea Guardian in protest. Macron said the clash underlined his earlier statement about NATO being “brain dead”.

Then there are other NATO tensions: Turkey’s purchase of Russia’s S-400 air-defense system; and European disapproval of Turkey’s incursion into northern Syria against Kurdish militia, while the Trump administration was out of step with Europe by acquiescing to the Turkish operation.

The flare-up in war between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh enclave has elicited more turmoil within NATO with Turkey’s support for Azerbaijan challenging the mediatory role of the US and France – along with Russia – as part of the OSCE Minsk Group supposedly overseeing peacekeeping in that three-decade frozen conflict.

Germany is at odds with Poland and the Baltic states over the planned redeployment of American troops from the former to the latter. US President Trump has ordered the relocation of forces as a form of chastisement of Berlin for not meeting its spending commitments to NATO. That has been part of a wider drive by Trump to berate European allies for not pulling their weight on military budgets. This has, in turn, led European allies to doubt Washington’s strategic commitments to joint defense.

Presidential rival Joe Biden says he will repair the tattered NATO alliance if he is elected and thereby restore confidence in America’s leadership. That implies a Biden administration will increase US forces across Europe and take a more belligerent tone towards Russia. Could Washington’s tone get any more belligerent, one may ask? Biden last weekend called Russia the “biggest threat” to “our security and alliances”.

More than 70 years after its founding in 1949 and nearly three decades since the fall of the Soviet Union, it is evident that NATO is an unwieldy military behemoth that is desperately in need of a unifying purpose. It’s a floundering relic of the Cold War.

Russia, as usual, is being targeted as an enemy, as well as China, with the desired objective of galvanizing NATO members and US “alliances”, which provide Washington’s traditional position of dominance over assorted minions. The logic implies the pursuit of conflict, even war, with either Russia or China in order to shore up the US position and its NATO facade.

However, in a time of diverging national interests, severe global economic downturn, and social turmoil over the coronavirus pandemic, the NATO fractures are growing ever sharper – and Russia’s alleged malign ambitions have nothing to do with the inherent dynamic of disunity. Biden’s latest bid to scapegoat Russia for undermining US alliances is tantamount to papering over the cracks within.

Russia no doubt would like to see the back of NATO given the relentless provocations on its borders from increasing maneuvers by warplanes and the installation of missile systems. The US withdrawal from arms control treaties with Russia adds to the NATO threat. Nevertheless, the root problem of US alliances tearing at the seams is an intrinsic part of emerging Western rivalries and the loss of American grip over its vassals.

Verkiezingen in Groot-Brittannië gemanipuleerd door de massamedia

Vandaag verkiezingen in Groot-Brittannië, dit na een campagne van de reguliere media, inclusief de BBC die niet anders hebben gedaan dan Corbyn zwart maken en van een man die zich altijd heeft ingezet tegen antisemitisme (en dat nog doet) , 'een antisemiet gemaakt' in de ogen van het volk......

En dan durft men bij de BBC en de andere reguliere media te fulmineren over het manipuleren van verkiezingen en het brengen van 'fake news.....' (nepnieuws)






Gistermorgen durfde de zogenaamd onafhankelijke en objectieve Bernard Hammelburg in zijn column op BNR te zeggen dat Corbyn een 'neo-Marxist' is (uitgesproken als zou Corbyn een Stalinist zijn....) en een radicaal die alleen maar wartaal uitslaat...... Uiteraard zonder daar voorbeelden van te geven..... Hé Hammelburg, loop je eigen columns van de laatste 10 jaar eens na en zie hoeveel wartaal en waanzinnige onzin jij zelf hebt geventileerd, enorme sufferd!! Voorlopig is het nog steeds zo dat in GB dagelijks 4 miljoen kinderen met honger naar school gaan, een zaak die met Corbyn zeker tot het verleden zal behoren! (tja en dat past niet in het neoliberale straatje van oplichter Hammelburg....)

Vanmorgen werd bekend gemaakt dat de BBC tegen de regels in heeft bericht over de verkiezingen, men stelde dat de per post uitgebrachte stemmen flink negatief uitpakken voor Labour...... Hiermee worden veel domme kiezers beïnvloed, mensen die bij de winnaars willen behoren en daarom hun aanvankelijke stem voor Labour aan de Tories of de Lib Dems zullen geven.....

Dan van mij nog een heel kleine poging tot manipulatie: People of Great Britain: vote Labour if you want to have a fair and better future for all of you!

PS: uiteraard zullen ook deze verkiezingen worden gezien als een stem voor of tegen de Brexit en gezien de populariteit van de Brexit Party, die heeft aangegeven dat men op Johnson moet stemmen, is het vrijwel zeker dat de voorstanders van de Brexit zullen winnen....... (jammer, want een Brexit kan wel degelijk ook goed uitpakken voor GB, waar Johnson zich vooral zal richten op verdragen met de VS, waarmee GB nog meer dan ooit tevoren 'een ondergeschoven staat van de VS' zal zijn.....)

Christchurch terreuraanslag: de normalisatie van anti-moslim terreur en westerse oorlogsvoering in moslimlanden

Whitney Webb schreef een uitgebreid artikel over de terreuraanslag in Christchurch, Nieuw-Zeeland. Webb gaat in op de 74 pagina's tellende motivatie en ideologie van dader Tarrant en stelt daarbij dat de westerse politiek, zeker na de komst van Trump als VS president, taal gebruikt tegen moslims waarmee zij worden gedemoniseerd......... Terwijl in werkelijkheid regeringen als die van Trump de ene massamoord na de andere begaan op moslims, zo vermoordde de VS in een aantal illegale oorlogen alleen deze eeuw al meer dan 2,5 miljoen, voornamelijk moslims...... Dan is er nog de samenwerking van de Trump administratie, de westerse media en het militair-industrieel complex, tegen moslimlanden die niet braaf doen wat de imperialistische VS van hen eist....

De westerse reguliere media steunen tegen beter weten in de illegale oorlogen van de VS en verkopen deze als onvermijdbaar aan de de westerse bevolkingen, zoals de VS dat in eigen land doet..... Vreemd genoeg geldt die in feite mobilisatie van westerse bevolkingen tegen moslimstaten niet, als het gaat om terreurstaten als Saoedi-Arabië en de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE), terwijl daar dezelfde zaken 'mis zijn' die worden genoemd door die media en de Trump administratie als het gaat om VS onwelgevallige regeringen, dus dictaturen die terreurgroepen steunen en het volk onderdrukken, sterker nog: de landen die de VS niet welgevallig zijn worden gedemoniseerd als dergelijke regimes, terwijl daar in de praktijk vaak helemaal geen sprake van is.....

Zie wat betreft het voorgaande Syrië, waarover dit niet eens gezegd kon worden, echter tot op de dag van vandaag houden de westerse massamedia en het grootste deel van de westerse politici die leugens hoog.... (vergeet niet dat onder Assad alle geloven hand in hand naast elkaar leefden en het volk gemiddeld een redelijk inkomen had....) Door de acties van de VS, die de opstand op poten zette en regisseerde, waarna deze grootste terreurentiteit op aarde een oorlog ontketende tegen het regime Assad, ligt het land voor een groot deel in puin...... Gelukkig leven de teruggekeerde vluchtelingen, in de door het reguliere Syrische leger bevrijdde gebieden, nu weer hand in hand met buren die een ander geloof aanhangen.......

De reli-fascistische dictatuur Saoedi-Arabië, dat een bloedig beleid voert tegen Saoedische sjiieten en in buurland Jemen een genocide uitvoert op de sjiitische bevolking, wordt nog steeds gesteund door het westen (Nederland levert zelfs nog steeds wapenonderdelen aan die reli-fascistische dictatuur)..... Nogmaals: terwijl dat land een genocide uitvoert in buurland Jemen......

Ook de taal die bij e.e.a. wordt uitgeslagen heeft ervoor gezorgd dat de westerse bevolkingen achter de illegale oorlogen van de VS en de NAVO-lidstaten tegen moslimlanden staan. Moslims worden aangewezen als de terroristen van de wereld, terwijl er amper of geen aandacht is voor de waanzin van westerse landen die illegale oorlogen tegen moslimlanden voeren, waarbij onnoemelijk veel meer moslims werden en worden vermoord, dan die door alle 'moslimaanslagen' in het westen bij elkaar opgeteld, sterker nog, dat aantal moorden kan daarbij zelfs niet in de schaduw staan.....* Niet vreemd dus dat die grootschalige westerse terreur, aanslagen uitlokken op de Europese straten......

Voorts wijst Webb op de andere fascistische aanslagen op moslims en hun gebedshuizen (of andere instellingen van moslims, Ap), immers de aanslag van afgelopen maandag op de 2 moskeeën in Christchurch waren bepaald niet de eerste. (ook in Nederland werden er aanslagen op moskeeën gepleegd, al waren die niet in gebruik ten tijde van de aanslagen)

De motivatie van fascisten die aanslagen plegen zoals die in Christchurch, is gericht tegen vluchtelingen uit moslimlanden, zonder aandacht te schenken aan het feit waarom zij zijn gevlucht: grootschalige westerse terreur o.l.v. de VS, waarbij zoals eerder opgemerkt alleen deze eeuw al meer dan 2,5 miljoen moslims zijn vermoord.......

The Christchurch Shooting and the Normalization of Anti-Muslim Terrorism

(MPN) — What is without question the worst mass shooting in New Zealand’s history took place on Friday when shooters, 28-year-old Australian Brenton Tarrant among them, opened fire at two Christchurch mosques. Four, including Tarrant, have been arrested for the heinous act, which claimed at least 49 innocent lives. Tarrant was responsible for killing more than 40 victims, among them several children, in a rampage he live-streamed on Facebook, sending chills throughout the Muslim community, particularly Muslims living in Western countries.

Tarrant’s motives and ideology, laid bare in a 74-page manifesto, show a concern over the fertility rates of non-white groups as well as the immigration of non-whites to countries like New Zealand and Australia, which he likened to an “invasion” that threatened the white majority in those countries. However, Tarrant — in his ignorance — failed to grasp that many of the Muslim immigrants he targeted had come to New Zealand after fleeing Western-backed invasions, occupations, or persecution in their home countries.

Notable among Tarrant’s views is the fact that he is a clear ethno-nationalist, promoting his view that different ethnic groups must be kept “separate, unique, undiluted in [sic] unrestrained in cultural or ethnic expression and autonomy.” Tarrant also claimed that he doesn’t necessarily hate Muslims and only targeted those Muslims {i.e., immigrants) that chose “to invade our lands, live on our soil and replace our people.”

He also stated that he chose to target Muslims because “Islamic nations, in particular, have high birth rates, regardless of race or ethnicity” and to satiate “a want for revenge against Islam for the 1,300 years of war and devastation that it has brought upon the people of the West and other peoples of the world.” His views are remarkably similar to those of Norwegian terrorist Anders Breivik, which is unsurprising given that Tarrant named him as an inspiration for the shooting.

Though many — in the hours after the shooting — have sought to place blame and point fingers at notable demagogues like President Donald Trump or “counter-jihad” alt-right figures like Laura Loomer and Jacob Wohl, it is important to place Tarrant’s motivations in context.

Indeed, while Trump’s rise to political power has brought Islamophobic rhetoric into the public sphere in an undeniable way, it is a symptom of a much broader effort aimed at propagandizing the people of the United States and other Western countries to support wars in and military occupations of Muslim-majority countries. This manufactured Islamophobia, largely a product of Western governments and a compliant mass media, has sought to vilify all Muslims by maligning the religion itself as terrorism, in order to justify the plunder of their countries and deflect attention from their suffering.

It is a classic “divide and conquer” scam aimed at keeping Westerners divided from Muslims in their own countries and abroad. The horrific shooting in Christchurch is a testament to its unfortunate success and pervasiveness, as well as a potent reminder that it must be stopped.

Indeed, this manufactured Islamophobia has made it so that Muslims in their home countries are in danger of dying from Western-backed wars and, if they flee to the “safer” West, they have targets on their backs painted by the very war propaganda used to justify Western military adventurism in Muslim-majority nations.

Islam, the media and “Forever Wars”: Who’s the “real” terrorist?

Since September 11th and the advent of the “War on Terror,” mass media reporting increasingly began to conflate Muslims and Muslim-majority nations with war, terrorism and violence in general. Indeed, 9 out of 10 mainstream news reports on Muslims, Islam, and Islamic organizations are related to violence and Muslims who are named on mainstream media are all-too-frequently warlords or terrorist leaders.

This near-constant association of Islam and violence has created the false perception that the religion of Islam, by its very nature, is violent and that Muslims too must then be violent and thus dangerous. This media-driven association has had very real and troubling consequences. For instance, a 2010 study by the University of Exeter found “empirical evidence to demonstrate that assailants of Muslims are invariably motivated by a negative view of Muslims they have acquired from either mainstream or extremist nationalist reports or commentaries in the media.” In other words, Islamophobic media reports are directly related to hate crimes targeting Muslims.

This is no accident, as such biased reporting on Muslim-majority nations also began as Western-backed wars in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan sought to put these countries’ natural resources, namely their oil and mineral wealth, into the hands of American corporations. It should be no surprise then that top funders of media outlets that have routinely promoted Islamophobic narratives are also those who have profited considerably from the “War on Terror” and Western-backed regime-change wars in other countries.

This concerted effort to vilify Muslims has had the potent effect, likely by design, of reducing empathy among Westerners for the largely Muslim victims of Western military adventurism in Muslim-majority countries. Indeed, while mainstream news outlets often trumpet the imminent dangers Americans face from “radical Islamic terror,” the death toll of innocent people — most of them Muslim — that have been killed by the U.S.-led “War on Terror” is several orders of magnitude greater than the number of Americans who have died from all terror attacks over that same period.

For instance, from 2001 to 2013, an estimated 3,380 Americans died from domestic and foreign terrorism, including the September 11 attacks as well as acts of domestic terrorism carried out by white nationalists and supremacists. If one excludes the September 11 death toll, the number of American deaths over that same period stands at around 400, most of them victims of mass-killers who were not Muslim.

By comparison, an estimated 8 million innocent people in Muslim-majority nations died as a result of U.S. policies and wars in the Middle East and North Africa from 2001 to 2015. Yet, the magnitude of this loss of life of these “unworthy victims” is minimized by media and government silence, and the creation of a climate of Islamophobia in the West has only served to deepen the ease with which mass murder is accepted by the aggressor countries’ populations.

Beyond the staggering disparity in the death tolls caused by terror groups and Western-backed imperialist wars is the fact that many of these very Western governments that purport to be so concerned with “radical Islamic terror” have often created and funded the most notorious terror groups of all. Indeed, the U.S. government helped to create Al Qaeda and continues to protect its Syrian branch — Hayat Tahrir al-Sham — in Syria’s Idlib province to this day. In addition, the CIA was just recently revealed to be helping the Islamic State regroup in Syrian refugee camps. Furthermore, the U.S. has long turned a blind eye to the funding of terror groups by allied states like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The role of Western money, arms and policy in the creation and maintenance of radical Wahhabi terrorist groups is often entirely ignored by Western media portrayals of Muslim-majority nations, thereby creating a false image that such violence is endemic to these nations when, in fact, it is often imported state-sponsored terror.

These nuances of the situation are rarely heard in the narratives parroted out on mainstream media and those who regularly consume mainstream news sources are more likely than not to support those narratives. For that reason, it is easy to see how someone like Donald Trump — who is said to watch television for eight hours every day, much of it Fox News — has espoused the views that he has. Thanks to the manufacturing of Islamophobia of mainstream media, racist policies like the so-called “Muslim ban” have found wide support, as this false narrative has conflated Islam with violence so often that many have come to believe that only by banning Islam can violence and terrorism in the U.S. be reduced.

However, the recent shooting in Christchurch, as well as the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting and other recent acts of domestic terrorism, should alert us to the fact that it is the hate manufactured by this false narrative that is itself endangering American lives while also covering up the mass murder that has been perpetrated by the U.S. and other governments around the world for decades.

Israel’s leading role in stoking ethnonationalism

While the realities of post-9/11 America, as well as the rise in visibility of white ethnonationalism during the Trump Era, have done much to normalize attacks on immigrants, the country that has done the most to normalize anti-Muslim terrorism over this same time frame has been the state of Israel.

Israel, from its founding days, has long been steeped in neocolonialist ideology that is remarkably similar to the ideological basis behind other settler states like the United States, Australia and New Zealand. This system of beliefs holds that the native inhabitants of the land — whether the Palestinians, the Sioux or the Maori — are “primitive” and incompetent and that the land would have remained “wild” and undeveloped were it not for the “fortunate” appearance of European settlers. As MintPress noted in a previous report on the subject, such narratives cast these settlers as both superior and normal while the natives become inferior and abnormal, thus obfuscating the settler’s status as foreigner and conqueror.

In Israel’s case, this ideology has promoted the idea that all Arabs are “sons of the desert” while the desert simultaneously represents a barbaric obstacle to “progress” and development. However, the state of Israel, under the lengthy tenure of current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has seen these long-standing and somewhat hidden underpinnings of the Zionist state burst out into the open.

The result has been the overt expression of ethnonationalism in such a way that Israel has become an inspiration to white nationalists in the United States, like Richard Spencer, and far-right ethno-fascist leaders like Brazil’s Jair Bolsonaro and India’s Narendra Modi. The inspiration has been mutual, according to reports and testimonials published by Jewish newspaper The Forward.

For years, through its military occupation of Palestine, Israel’s government and military have sought to paint all Palestinians, including children, as “terrorists” or “terrorist sympathizers.” Take, for example, current Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, who wrote in 2014, “This is a war between two people. Who is the enemy? The Palestinian people …”

A more recent example came from former Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, who asserted just last year that “no innocent people” live in the Gaza Strip and that every inhabitant in the enclave is somehow connected to Hamas, even though nearly half of Gaza’s population are children and teenagers. Such rhetoric has become par for the course and numerous examples show that Shaked and Lieberman’s views are increasingly accepted and “normal” in today’s Israel.

Yet, the clearest indication of anti-Muslim terror’s normalization in Israel is the recent rise of Otzma Yehudit, or the “Jewish Power” Party. This party, founded by devotees of radical American-born Rabbi Meir Kahane, has now merged — at Netanyahu’s urging — with the Jewish Home Party and stands to become part of Israel’s ruling coalition if Netanyahu manages to win in the country’s upcoming elections.

In the office of Itamar Ben Gvir, one of Otzma Yehudit’s leaders, is a framed picture of Baruch Goldstein. In an act that bears a striking similarity to the events in Christchurch, Goldstein — a long-time devotee of Kahane — entered a mosque in the West Bank city of Hebron in 1994 and opened fire, killing 29 and injuring more than 125 worshippers. After the act, Kahane’s Kach party — the predecessor of Otzma Yehudit — was labeled a terrorist organization by the United States and Israel.

Despite official condemnation, Goldstein’s atrocious act has been the subject of praise and inspiration for subsequent extremists who, under Netanyahu’s government, have become increasingly normalized. Goldstein’s gravestone reads “He gave his life for the people of Israel, its Torah and land” and continues to be used as a site of pilgrimage and homage by the very extremists that Netanyahu is openly courting for political gain.

While the followers of Kahane are making a comeback in Israel, several notable Arab political parties have been banned from participating Israel’s upcoming elections, with some being accused of “supporting terrorism” owing to their opposition to Israel’s decades-long military occupation of Palestine. Yet, by elevating clear terror supporters among the ranks of the Jewish Power Party (Otzma Yehudit), it has become increasingly clear that openly supporting and advocating anti-Muslim terrorism is no bar to legitimacy and political power in today’s Israel.

No ‘clash of civilizations,’ only manipulation and exploitation of differences

The tragic and barbaric shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand is yet another horrific and glaring reminder that the “divide and conquer” war propaganda that has sought to promote the so-called “clash of civilizations” between Christianity and Islam, West and East, has not only been monstrously effective but continues to be monstrously destructive to people on both sides.

However, the media’s manufacture of Islamophobia, in seeking to Wite-out Muslim suffering and reduce Western empathy for innocent Muslim civilians, has increasingly placed targets on the back of Muslims everywhere — in the West and the East — making it increasingly difficult for practitioners of the Islamic faith to feel safe regardless of where they live.

With most Muslim-majority countries now killing fields in Western-backed wars, ruled by oppressive, Western-backed dictatorships, or under threat of Western-backed regime change, even those Muslims who have sought a safer, quieter life in the “civilized” West have now found themselves targets thanks to the very war propaganda used to justify the destruction of their home countries.

While the murderer Tarrant had stated that he hoped his horrific crime would help stoke “civil war” in Western countries, this tragedy should and must serve as a wake up call for people everywhere that the real forces responsible for the destruction of many Muslim-majority countries and the current chaos present in many Western countries are not generated by civilian populations or religions but instead by the global oligarchy that engineers and profits from this chaos. These oligarchs loot from the people of the West just as they do from the people of the East and it is time to recognize that they are the real threats to a more peaceful world — not regular people praying, whether it be in a church, a synagogue or a mosque.
