ABP investeert door leden gespaard pensioen in de fossiele brandstof vernietiging van onze aarde....

Het ABP, een verplicht pensioenfonds voor o.a. docenten en ambtenaren, investeert nog steeds in fossiele brandstoffen, ondanks dat het fonds beloofde daar mee te stoppen..... Onder andere Shell wordt genoemd als bedrijf waarin het ABP investeert, daarmee verliest het ABP ook nog eens geld daar het aandeel het laatste jaar fiks is gedaald....... Ook het koningshuis heeft daardoor een fikse berg geld verloren, immers dat huis is grootaandeelhouder Shell, hoewel datzelfde koningshuis de duurzame (vals-) groene boodschap preekt......*

Niet vreemd het voorgaande als je weet dat Corien Wortman, een CDA leeghoofdhufter van de eerste orde, aan de top staat van het (pensioenfonds) ABP.......

Fossielvrij en 350.org zijn een petitie gestart waarin van het ABP wordt geëist niet langer de door de leden gespaarde gelden te investeren in een industrie die willens en wetens de (snelle) klimaatverandering niet alleen heeft veroorzaakt, maar deze ook nog eens verder aanjaagt, anders gezegd: het ABP investeert in de dood van vele miljoenen mensen...... Met deze investeringen investeert het ABP in een Nederland dat tegen het eind van de eeuw voor een groot deel onbewoonbaar zal zijn geworden vanwege de zeespiegelstijging, die veroorzaakt wordt door de steeds sneller verlopende klimaatverandering.......

I am angry. Furious. Do you know why? As a biology teacher I am working on the future of my students. But at the same time I am funding the climate crisis through my own pension with ABP.

As a teacher I am stuck with the ABP pension fund: I cannot choose a different fund. I have emailed ABP, I called and I wrote to ask them to stop with their investments in oil, coal and gas. Under pressure from people like you and me ABP set up a sustainability policy. And they reduced their fossil fuel investments from 10% to 5%. But my money is still going to polluting oil giants like Shell: corporations that keep on looking for new oil amidst a climate emergency. And that is making me furious. 

I need you. By myself I won’t be able to convince ABP. But if we are loud enough together ABP will have to listen, because it is our money. We need thousands of signatures and public actions to let our voices be heard. Will you join me?

A fossil free pension is possible: under pressure of people power ever more European pension funds are stopping their fossil fuel investments. At the end of 2019 the Danish MP Pension announced that they would sell their shares in numerous large fossil fuel companies, including Shell and ExxonMobil [1]. If we manage to convince ABP, as the largest pension fund of Europe, to divest, other financial institutions will feel the pressure to follow suit.

Whether you are building up a pension with ABP, whether you are a pensioner, or whether you are - as we all are - contributing to the pensions of civil servants and teachers via your taxes: please join and sign the petition. Call on ABP chairperson of the board Corien Wortmann to stop fossil fuel investments.
