Coronavirus: VS sancties tegen andere landen zijn zeker nu met de Coronacrisis sadistisch en barbaars

Beetje bvreemde kop beste bezoeker, immers illegale sancties zijn altijd sadistisch en barbaars zoals je zo zal lezen.....

Waar men in de wereld poogt saamhorigheid te kweken om zo het Coronavirus te kunnen bestrijden, blijft de VS landen als Iran, Venezuela en Cuba (plus nog 27 andere landen) illegaal sanctioneren, zodat men daar grote problemen heeft om het Coronavirus te bestrijden...... Zo overlijden er onnodig veel mensen als gevolg van een tekort aan medicatie en medische apparatuur aan het Coronavirus, dan wel zullen overlijden aan wat men COVID-19 is gaan noemen......

de VS is zo onbeschoft dat het een luchtbrug heeft geopend met China en daar grote hoeveelheden (grondstoffen voor ) medicijnen weghaalt en toch handhaaft deze terreurentiteit de sancties tegen China...... 'Leuk ook dat dit in de reguliere westerse media wordt gemeld.....' (niet dus!)

De fascistische psychopaat Trump durft openlijk te zeggen dat de sancties niet opgaan voor zaken die de volksgezondheid in zo'n land zullen schaden, terwijl ze dat wel degelijk doen! Sterker nog: er zijn in Venezuela al meer dan 40.000 mensen overleden door VS sancties en ik vrees dat ook in Iran de cijfers niet veel lager zullen zijn.... Let wel: ik spreek over doden die vóór de Coronacrisis zijn gevallen, ofwel het aantal doden zal door deze crisis nog veel verder stijgen.....

De G20 durfde te stellen dat het van het grootste belang is dat we onderling solidair moeten zijn en dat internationale samenwerking van het grootste belang is, terwijl de VS zelfs de sancties tegen de armste landen niet wil opheffen........ Waar deze illegale sancties zoals gezegd in Venezuela al voor de Coronacrisis 40.000 slachtoffers het leven hebben gekost...... Illegale sancties opgelegd door de grootste terreurentiteit op onze kleine aarde: de VS!! Ofwel die 40.000 doden bohoren tot de zoveelste massamoord die de VS deze eeuw heeft gepleegd, waar de teller door illegaal VS optreden nu op ruim meer dan 2,5 miljoen dodelijke slachtoffers staat..... Waar Nederland middels militairen en ons belastinggeld ook een grafsteen of 100 (naar schatting) aan heeft bijgedragen........ (en dat in landen waar het westen niets te zoeken heeft!!!)

April 01, 2020 "Information Clearing House" -   Dozens of U.S. government-chartered flights have begun to airlift vital medical equipment and supplies from China to the U.S. as the latter becomes the world’s biggest case load of infections from the novel coronavirus. There are grim forecasts for the number of deaths in the U.S. as the pandemic is weeks from peaking there.

China is cooperating with the U.S. in organizing the massive medical transfer, naturally of course, given the humanitarian crisis. You would think therefore that a little reciprocation would be in order from Washington. After all, China is one of those foreign countries that the U.S. has imposed sanctions on over alleged human rights violations. Would it not behove the U.S. to show a bit of solidarity and gratitude by dropping its sanctions regime against China?

And not just China. There are are some 30 countries and territories that currently sit on a U.S. sanctions list, mostly due to Washington’s accusations of human rights violations. Some of the targeted nations have been under sanctions for decades, such as Cuba, North Korea and Iran. Others have joined the dubious club more recently, such as Russia, Yemen and Venezuela.

Surely at this unprecedented time of a global pandemic threatening millions of human beings regardless of nationality, it is time to show genuine solidarity and compassion for others. The very idea of imposing sanctions on other countries is not only anachronistic. It is utterly barbaric.

In any case, U.S. sanctions imposed unilaterally without the mandate of the UN Security Council are arguably illegal. Even before the coronavirus outbreak and its accompanying disease, Covid-19, the American deployment of embargoes to disrupt commerce and trade of other countries could be seen as reprehensible. Such measures are rightly judged to be collective punishment of civilians which violates international law and the UN Charter.

But now as countries battle against an existential threat posed by the virus, the existing U.S. sanctions can be seen as an abomination.

Iran is a particularly poignant case. It has one of the highest infection rates in the world with thousands of deaths in a matter of weeks. Yet the Trump administration sees fit to not only maintain harsh sanctions on Tehran, it has actually added three more rounds of sanctions against Iran since the epidemic occurred. The deaths in Iran are being multiplied by American policy.

The Trump administration cynically claims that U.S. sanctions do not impede humanitarian aid to Iran. The claim is beneath contempt. The crippling sanctions imposed by Trump’s “maximum pressure” policy virtually precludes Iran from making international financial transactions, including for medicines. Moreover, the effect of “secondary sanctions” means that many countries are intimidated from doing business with Iran out of fear of U.S. reprisals.

Washington has blood on its hands where any country is finding the fight against Covid-19 in any way more difficult. It already had blood on its hands from its illegal sanctions. But what we have now is the grotesque picture of a ghoulish, sadistic American government shamelessly showing its ugly face at a time of global suffering.

At the G20 summit last week – held by teleconference to avoid spreading coronavirus infection – Russian President Vladimir Putin called on the world to drop sanctions at this critical juncture. He said it was imperative for all nations to have access to medicines and equipment without financial restrictions. “It is a question of whether people live or die,” he added.

Putin’s call for discarding sanctions was backed by UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres and other world leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping.

In the end, however, the G20 final joint statement omitted any unanimous mention of sanctions. One suspects that the U.S. – the world’s number-one serial abuser of sanctions – pulled strings behind the scenes to pre-empt any move to banish such measures of financial coercion. Not surprisingly, because financial coercion (less politely, “terrorism”) is an instrumental weapon for U.S. foreign policy, as much as its military intimidation of other nations is.

Instead, what came out of the G20 conference was a joint statement of vapid, disingenuous rhetoric.

It opined: “Global action, solidarity and international cooperation are more than ever necessary to address this pandemic. We are confident that, working closely together, we will overcome this. We will protect human life, restore global economic stability, and lay out solid foundations for strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth.”

Just how does “global solidarity” and “working closer together to protect human life” translate into practical remedial action when Washington continues to wield a veto over some of the poorest and weakest nations gaining life-saving supplies?

If there were any compassion or morality in Washington, it would immediately rescind all its sanctions against other nations in recognition of common humanity. But the hard-heartedness of Washington is unrelenting even at a time of crisis and death. It is based on a self-righteousness that is frightening in the scale of its hubris and hypocrisy.

A certain natural “correction” is due for this endemic criminal mentality of America’s ruling class. And one senses that the correction for its systematic evildoing against fellow human beings is not going to pass lightly.

NAVO uitgaven gaan ten koste van de gezondheidszorg, één van de redenen dat het Coronavirus zo hard kan toeslaan

InformationClearing House heeft een artikel van Sputnik overgenomen, een artikel geschreven door Finian Cunningham, waarin deze betoogt dat de enorme uitgaven die NAVO lidstaten doen, daar Trump hen continu beschuldigt te weinig uit te geven aan 'defensie', ten koste gaan van de bestrijding van het Coronavirus. 

Ongelofelijk nog steeds dat niemand van de landen die beschuldigd worden door Trump, niet aanvoeren dat de VS bijvoorbeeld alleen deze eeuw al 4 illegale oorlogen is begonnen..... Dit naast militaire steun van de VS voor oorlogen in Afrika en de moord op een enorm aantal mensen middels drones (waarbij meer dan 90% van de slachtoffers niet eens werd verdacht....)..... 

Daarnaast heeft de VS ook nog eens meer dan 800 militaire bases over de wereld, dat opgeteld bij de hiervoor genoemde zaken, kost een enorme bak geld, het budget van de VS voor defensie uh oorlogvoering is nu dan ook het belachelijk hoge bedrag van meer dan 700 miljard dollar..... Alsof de andere NAVO-lidstaten ook maar waar het uitkomst oorlog moeten voeren of kunnen voeren en overal en nergens militaire bases moeten bouwen, te zot voor woorden!!

Cunningham stelt dat bijvoorbeeld landen als Italië en Spanje hun uitgaven aan 'defensie' fiks hebben verhoogd en dat dit ten koste is gegaan van de gezondheidszorg zal maar weinigen verbazen......

Trump blaast volgens Cunningham zo hoog van de toren, daar andere EU-lidstaten vooral oorlogstuig kopen in de VS en precies daarvoor zet Trump continu de andere NAVO-lidstaten onder druk meer uit te geven aan defensie..... Voorts stelt Cunningham dat Trump pissig is dat de EU-lidstaten zo weinig medische zaken kopen in de VS.... Hier vergeet Cunningham even dat Trump heeft gesteld dat de beademingsapparatuur die in de VS wordt gefabriceerd, het land niet mogen verlaten. Een paar dagen geleden wijzigde Trump z'n standpunt enigszins met de mededeling dat er ook beademingsapparatuur mag worden geëxporteerd (maar ja wat deze volkomen gestoorde psychopaat morgen zal zeggen is nog een raadsel, echter een terugkomen op z'n laatste uitspraak behoort heel goed tot de mogelijkheden; Trumps wegen zijn, zoals die van de bedachte christelijke god, ondoorgrondelijk.....)

De cijfers van het aantal Corona besmettingen en doden in Italië en Spanje, die Cunningham noemt in zijn schrijven van NB 28 maart jl., is intussen volledig achterhaald...... Zo zal dat cijfer van besmettingen en doden ook in andere EU-lidstaten nog fiks groeien, terwijl het aantal doden in de VS nu al het hoogst is, o.a. doordat men zo heeft bezuinigd op de gezondheidszorg en zelfs heeft bezuinigd op speciale medische organisaties die zich bezig houden met besmettelijke ziekten, zoals de Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)....... Trump dwingt bedrijven nu beademingsapparatuur te fabriceren, daar men hier een enorm tekort aan heeft, alsof een bedrijf als GM daarvoor verantwoordelijk is en niet zijn eigen terreuradministratie........ Zo heeft New York 30.000 beademingsapparaten nodig terwijl het er maar 7.000 heeft.....

En dan durft Trump de wereld, maar vooral China te beschuldigen veel te weinig te hebben gedaan en te doen, ongelofelijk!

Virus Price for NATO Racket

March 28, 2020 "Information Clearing House" -   In a White House briefing this week on the coronavirus pandemic, President Trump went off script – as usual – to rant about NATO allies “not spending enough” on military budgets and “playing games” with the US over defence.
 
Trump complained: “They’re all playing games against us. They've been playing games against us for years.”

It’s hard to know what prompted Trump to dredge up this bugbear. It appears to be related to his questionable notion that European countries are not buying more medical equipment from the US. Trump routinely complains that the European Union is taking advantage of the US in matters of trade, or by being overly reliant on America for military defence.

However, just why Trump should go on a rant about NATO at this precise moment seems decidedly insensitive. Europe has become the global epicentre for the coronavirus pandemic. Italy and Spain have the highest death tolls worldwide, with nearly 7,000 and 3,500 fatalities, respectively.



There are genuine fears that the death rates across Europe will accelerate in the coming weeks and months due to public health services being overwhelmed.

The spectre of the deadly virus is haunting the US too. World Health Organization officials predict that America will become the new epicentre following Europe’s outbreak. Potentially, the death toll in the US could run into the millions.

Trump’s insensitive comments about NATO allies show a lamentable lack of international solidarity. They also betray a damning indictment of this president’s role in boosting military spending by European NATO members – an expenditure that is not only wasteful but which has left these countries vulnerable to the present public health crisis.

What the coronavirus and its Covid-19 disease have exposed is the reprehensible underfunding of public health services by Western states. The lack of hospital equipment such as ventilators and protective gear for medical workers is greatly exacerbating the spread of the disease and the death toll.



Spain is reportedly now spending €430 million ($470m) to obtain medical equipment from China in a desperate attempt to contain a runaway epidemic. Many other countries are in the same predicament. Trying to hastily increase medical facilities and personnel levels which have been let deteriorate over years from chronic underfunding.

(The US is no better, if not in a worse state of public health service neglect. New York City needs 30,000 ventilators to treat virus patients but only has 7,000 machines.)

In this context, it’s far from tangential to point out that Spain, Italy and other European countries have been splurging billions of dollars more every year on military procurement in recent times. That is because of Trump’s hectoring of America’s allies to spend more on NATO. A lot of that extra money actually ends up propping up the US military-industrial complex in the form of purchases of warplanes and missile systems.

Trump wants – and boasts about it too – European NATO members to spend an extra $400 billion on the military by the year 2024. His regular shaming of them for allegedly “taking advantage” of the US for defence is part of this extortionate shakedown.

Spain and Italy, for example, increased their military budgets by 13.7 and 5.1 per cent from 2017 to 2018. That works out at a total spend by Spain of $18.25 billion on its military in 2018. For Italy, the figure was $27.8bn.

The same pattern of a spike in military spending is seen for other European states – all in response to Trump’s boorish demands for these nations to increase “NATO commitments”, which is a euphemism for subsidizing America’s military-industrial complex.

The fact that European nations have meekly acquiesced to Trump’s bullying speaks of the servile nature of their governments towards Washington.

Just think: if Spain, Italy or any other European nation had invested the billions of dollars they wasted on the military to rather instead improve their public health services then the current coronavirus crisis would in all probability not be a crisis. It would be contained by a capacious and well-funded public health system.

That is why Trump’s bilious attacks on European so-called allies is so sickening. He is not only kicking them when they are down. They are down in large measure because of Trump’s bullying and racketeering over obscenely wasteful military spending on NATO. How bitterly ironic too. Spending excess billions on security and defence has left Europe (and America) completely wide open to attack and disaster.

New York Times komt alweer met valse anti-Russische propaganda

De New York Times (NYT) heeft propaganda maken tegen Rusland tot haar specialisme gemaakt. Zoals je begrijpt gaat het dan m.n. om angst voor de Russen te cultiveren, waarbij men bij wijze van spreken geen blad voor de mond neemt.....

De nieuwste manipulatie van het volk bestaat uit een fantasie waarin men spreekt over een Russische elite spionage eenheid die de EU moet destabiliseren. De eenheid zou pas onlangs ontdekt zijn, draagt de aanduiding 'Unit 29155' en zou door het Kremlin worden aangestuurd.

Deze eenheid zou verantwoordelijk zijn voor: -een poging in 2015 om een Bulgaarse wapenhandelaar te vermoorden, -de destabilisatie van Moldavië, -een couppoging tegen de regering van Montenegro en de poging om 'dubbelspion' Skripal te vermoorden....... Wat betreft de laatst genoemde: je weet wel, het meer dan belachelijke verhaal in episodes dat Rusland als dader moest aanwijzen voor de vergiftiging van Skripal en zijn dochter, iets waarvoor tot op heden geen flinter aan bewijs is gevonden, men heeft zelfs met de natte vinger in de lucht de daders aangewezen, waarvoor men de camerabeelden van het vliegveld gebruikte waarop een paar Russen waren te zien en tja met 2 Russische mannen lag er een horizon aan leugens open, een horizon aan fantasieën waarmee men de Russen beschuldigde van de smerigste zaken......

Uiteraard haalt de NYT weer het Russiagate sprookje aan door te stellen dat het bestaan van deze eenheid nog eens onderstreept dat Putin bezig is met een 'hybride oorlogsvoering' tegen het westen middels een mix van propaganda, hacken (o.a. verkiezingsmanipulatie) en desinformatie..... Het publiek van de NYT wordt verteld dat Rusland zich in oorlog waant met de 'westerse liberale orde' (lees: neoliberale, of fascistische orde) die het als een bedreiging ziet...... In andere, maar juiste context gezien, is dit nog waar ook.... (vergeet niet dat de VS zich ook tot grote vijand van Rusland heeft gemaakt en nu, in tegenstelling tot de Koude Oorlog, direct en illegaal voor de westelijke grenzen van Rusland staat.......)

Dmitri Peskov, een woordvoerder van het Kremlin liet onlangs weten dat er de laatste paar jaar een westerse campagne gaande is die Rusland demoniseert en dat deze campagne steeds verder wordt geïntensiveerd, dit met gebruikmaking van o.a. 'valse informatie' die door hem werd afgedaan als behorend tot de 'Pulp Fiction categorie'. De Russische ambassade in GB heeft onlangs een compilatie gebracht van valse westerse artikelen over Rusland en haar internationaal handelen, waarbij NYT inderdaad opvalt door de grote hoeveelheid van deze artikelen.......

Het is zeker dat de geheime diensten de reguliere massamedia in de zak hebben en dat geldt nog meer voor de NYT, Time Inc. en CBS..... In een schrijven uit 1977 van de gelauwerde journalist Carl Bernstein, vertelt deze o.a. over de inspanningen van de CIA om systematisch honderden reporters, columnisten, eindredacteuren en omroepnetwerken zodanig te bespelen dat men de beschuldigingen en andere anti-Sovjet inspanningen gedaan door geheime diensten als waarheid verkondigt en daarmee vooral de Sovjet-Unie demoniseerde...... 

John Stockwell, in de 70er jaren een CIA medewerker stelde al eens dat de VS een vijand nodig heeft om de oorlogsmachine draaiend te houden..... Eén van de redenen om de TwinTowers en gebouw 7 van het WTC op te blazen, immers met het verdwijnen van de Sovjet-Unie viel een vijand weg die cruciaal was voor de VS wapenindustrie.... Daar de 'oorlog tegen terreur', die gevoerd werd middels grootschalige bloedige terreur tegen andere volkeren, niet genoeg opleverde aan contracten*, keek men opnieuw naar Rusland als 'de ideale vijand' die een wapenrace, of zelfs een kernwapenrace, mogelijk maakte..... Immers zo goed als deze doodsindustrie draaide ten tijde van de Sovjet-Unie (in verhouding tot de situatie nu) werd nog niet gehaald en dat heeft de wens doen herleven om Rusland weer als de grote vijand aan te wijzen en dat is gelukt, met medeneming van China, Noord-Korea en natuurlijk Iran.......

Voor deze zaken zijn bewijzen te over, neem de leugens voorafgaand aan de zoveelste illegale oorlog van de VS, waar de media deze leugens als waarheid verkondigden, neem de tijd voorafgaand aan de illegale oorlog tegen Irak..... Bij mijn weten is er geen mediaorgaan waar men deze leugens als waarheid verkondigde, die daarvoor een rectificatie heeft geplaatst, men doet net alsof de 'journalistieke neus' bloedt....

Lees het artikel dat Finian Cunningham schreef en dat eerder verscheen op Information Clearing House, waarin deze dieper ingaat op de zoveelste valse beschuldiging aan het adres van Rusland.... Terwijl juist het westen, met de VS voorop, bezig is de boel in eigen land en elders te manipuleren middels nepnieuws, desinformatie en het steken van verkiezingen, plus de daarbij horende angst- en haatzaaierij, zaken die wel bewezen zijn middels vele meters aan documentatie, neem alleen al het enorme archief van WikiLeaks.

Tot slot nog dit: de leugen die Rusland als een macht aanwijst die expansie nastreeft is des te belachelijker als je ziet dat de VS deze eeuw al minstens 4 illegale oorlogen is gestart.... Geen regulier westers mediaorgaan zal dit feit zo melden, nee men wijst met de vieze vingers naar Rusland, terwijl de VS bij die door haar begonnen illegale oorlogen al meer dan 2,5 miljoen slachtoffers heeft gemaakt.... Propaganda 101: The New York Times pumps another ‘evil Russia’ plot

October 10, 2019 "Information Clearing House" -  The “newspaper of record” New York Times arguably holds the record for peddling anti-Russia scare stories. This week the NY Times delivered yet another classic spook tale dressed as serious news.

Among its splash articles, under the headline ‘Top Secret Russian Unit Seeks to Destabilize Europe, Security Officials Say’, readers were told of an elite Russian spy team which has, allegedly, only recently been discovered.

It’s called “Unit 29155” and purportedly directed by the Kremlin to “destabilize Europe” with “subversion, sabotage and assassination.”

According to the NY Times, this crack squad of Russia’s most ruthless military intelligence agents were involved in an attempted assassination of an arms dealer in Bulgaria in 2015; the destabilization of Moldova; a failed coup against the Montenegrin government; and the alleged poisoning of former double agent Sergei Skripal in England last year.

The article states: “Western security officials have now concluded that these operations, and potentially many others, are part of a coordinated and ongoing campaign to destabilize Europe, executed by an elite unit inside the Russian intelligence system skilled in subversion, sabotage and assassination.”

The NY Times adds: “The purpose of Unit 29155, which has not been previously reported, underscores the degree to which the Russian president, Vladimir V. Putin, is actively fighting the West with his brand of so-called hybrid warfare — a blend of propaganda, hacking attacks and disinformation — as well as open military confrontation.”

This is all because, the readers are told, “The Kremlin sees Russia as being at war with a Western liberal order that it views as an existential threat.”

In response, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov dismissed it as more of the “pulp fiction category” which Western news media have manufactured with seeming increasing intensity over recent years. Peskov pointed out that Moscow has repeatedly stated its desire to normalize relations with Western states and the European Union in particular, contradicting the theme of the NY Times’ piece.

Indeed, the Russian Embassy in Britain recently published a compilation of false articles peddled by Western media over the past four years. The NY Times features prominently as one of the main purveyors of scare stories about alleged malign Russian activities, from hacking into presidential elections, to targeting American power grids, to covert collusion with President Donald Trump.

For students of Propaganda 101, this week’s tale makes a case study of how disinformation is disseminated in the guise of “news reporting.”

First of all, the NY Times reporter, Michael Schwirtz, gives a meandering account of lurid dirty deeds performed in various international locations allegedly carried out by the supposed “elite” Kremlin hybrid warriors. But tellingly, there are no details evidencing Russian involvement. It’s all lurid speculation spiced with fear-mongering, which reads like a pallid John le Carré spy novel.

Then, the usual giveaway that the NY Times is engaging in disinformation, it quotes anonymous security officials for apparent verification of its claims about “Unit 29155”. This is tacit admission of who the real authors are: Western spooks.

Next, a neat effort to give the lame story some legs is to quote named public figures. But these sources don’t confirm the existence of the alleged Kremlin unit; they are merely invited to speculate on its existence and presumed malign purpose. One of those named sources is MI6 chief Alex Younger. Yes, that’s right, the paper of record is quoting British military intelligence as a reliable source for public information. Another named source is Peter Zwack, who is described as a former US military intelligence officer who worked at the American Embassy in Moscow. Zwack is quoted as describing Russians as “organically ruthless” (whatever that means), while the paper actually admits that “he was not aware of the unit’s existence.”

The purpose of throwing a few names into the reporting mix is to lend a veneer of credibility to the nebulous, unverifiable, scary stuff that the anonymous spooks feed the reporter.

A special mention must be given to a third named source quoted by the NY Times. He is Eerik-Niiles Kross, an Estonian lawmaker and former military intelligence chief in Tallinn. 
He styles himself as “Estonia’s James Bond,” and is known for his salacious Russophobic warnings of “imminent invasion of the Baltic states” – over the past three decades. Kross is quoted to speculate on the existence of the alleged Kremlin hybrid warfare unit. Of course, he dutifully serves up his notorious anti-Russian fear-mongering. But he is not confirming. His speculation is pseudo-validation of information that is essentially fictional.

All in all, the latest installment of anti-Russia propaganda from the NY Times this week is a damp squib among many previous baseless reports of alleged Kremlin malign activity. If it serves any purpose, it is perhaps a choice illustration of how disinformation is sneakily, insidiously presented as ‘news’. The fact that this should appear in a Pulitzer Prize-winning, supposedly premier, American newspaper is the disturbing part.

But it is no surprise to those who have long studied how the US corporate media has been under the control of state intelligence agencies for many decades, especially after the Second World War and during the subsequent Cold War against the Soviet Union.

In a seminal essay in 1977 for Rolling Stone magazine, award-winning journalist Carl Bernstein documented how the CIA systematically cultivated hundreds of reporters, columnists, editors, publishing executives and broadcast networks to function as conduits for disinformation – much of it directed at demonizing the Soviet Union.

“From the outset, the use of journalists was among the CIA’s most sensitive undertakings,” writes Bernstein.

He added: “By far the most valuable of these associations, according to CIA officials, have been with the New York Times, CBS and Time Inc.”

How the CIA goes about planting false stories in the American and European media is outlined in this candid interview by John Stockwell, who was former National Security Council coordinator for the agency during the 1970s. Stockwell also added: “Enemies are necessary for the wheels of the US military machine to turn.”

You may wonder, if the Cold War ended nearly 30 years ago when the Soviet Union dissolved, why then do the NY Times and other Western media outlets continue to pump out anti-Russian propaganda? But that assumes the Cold War was primarily about the US opposing the ideology of communism. It wasn’t. It was, and still is, all about imposing control over the masses so they don’t ever challenge the power structure that deprives them of full democratic rights and decent livelihoods.

In a recent interview, philosopher André Vitchek makes the point that Western politicians and media like the NY Times keep harping on Cold War scare stories about evil foreigners in order “to distract their citizens from thinking about their increasingly limited freedoms and diminishing standards of living.”

The Cold War continues, and anti-Russia hysteria is but a distraction, as was the anti-Soviet hysteria. The aim is to distract the public from the real Cold War which is a war by the elites against democracy ever being actually realized among the masses.

Houthi aanval op Saoedische raffinaderijen: een grote blunder van de VS

De premature beschuldiging van de VS (al binnen 2 uur) dat Iran achter de aanslagen op de Saoedische raffinaderijen zit, heeft alles te maken met de schaamte van de VS dat al haar peperdure wapensystemen, zoals Patriot-raketten en de beste radartechnologie, geleverd aan Saoedi-Arabië, geen antwoord zijn op aanvallen met drones........ Waaraan toegevoegd moet worden dat deze drones van een legermacht zijn (de Houthi rebellen) die zich qua materiaal niet kan meten met Saoedi-Arabië laat staan met de VS...... Kortom de VS staat flink voor paal! (en de wapenindustrie van de VS is bepaald niet blij, dat kan ik je verzekeren!)

De claim van de VS dat Iran, of sjiitische krachten in Irak achter de aanslagen zitten, kloppen niet met de 'geografische kant' waar de olie-installaties werden getroffen: de westelijke kant, waardoor Iran en Irak afvallen als landen van waaruit de aanslagen werden gepleegd.

Het meest frappante aan de aanslagen op de 2 raffinaderijen is wel dat de eerste drone de Patriotraketinstallatie heeft vernield, een installatie die de boel moest bewaken, waarna de rest van de drones ongestoord kon doorvliegen.....

Vergeet wat betreft deze schaamte van de VS niet dat de petrodollar, ofwel de dollar als munt waarin de prijs van olie wordt weergegeven, vooral is te danken aan Saoedi-Arabië, de grootste olieleverancier ter wereld..... De VS wil dat ten koste van alles zo houden, immers als de dollar niet langer de munt is waarin olieprijzen worden weergegeven, is de lust van andere landen om dollars te verzamelen verdwenen en zal de VS eindelijk met haar enorme schuld worden geconfronteerd, waarbij het land zelfs deels of geheel failliet zou kunnen gaan........

Nogmaals: wat een schande dat de aanval met drones tegen de spuugrijke en dictatoriaal geregeerde terreurstaat Saoedi-Arabië zoveel aandacht trekt, terwijl men niet lult over de genocide die dezelfde terreurstaat uitvoert in buurland Jemen.......

US defense failure… Why Washington has to blame Iran over Saudi attacks

September 15, 2019 "Information Clearing House" -   The devastating blitz on Saudi Arabia’s oil industry has led to a flurry of accusations from US officials blaming Iran. The reason for the finger-pointing is simple: Washington’s spectacular failure to protect its Saudi ally.

The Trump administration needs to scapegoat Iran for the latest military assault on Saudi Arabia because to acknowledge that the Houthi rebels mounted such an audacious assault on the oil kingdom’s heartland would be an admission of American inadequacy.

Saudi Arabia has spent billions of dollars in recent years purchasing US Patriot missile defense systems and supposedly cutting-edge radar technology from the Pentagon. If the Yemeni rebels can fly combat drones up to 1,000 kilometers into Saudi territory and knock out the linchpin production sites in the kingdom’s oil industry, then that should be a matter of huge embarrassment for US “protectors.”

American defense of Saudi Arabia is germane to their historical relationship. Saudi oil exports nominated in dollars for trade – the biggest on the planet – are vital for maintaining the petrodollar global market, which is in turn crucial for American economic power. In return, the US is obligated to be a protector of the Saudi monarchy, which comes with the lucrative added benefit of selling the kingdom weapons worth billions of dollars every year.

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Saudi Arabia has the world’s third biggest military budget, behind the US and China. With an annual spend of around $68 billion, it is the world’s number one in terms of percentage of gross domestic product (8.8 per cent). Most of the Saudi arms are sourced from the US, with Patriot missile systems in particular being a recent big-ticket item.

Yet for all that financial largesse and the finest American military technology, the oil kingdom just witnessed a potentially crippling wave of air assaults on its vital oil industry. Saudi oil production at its mammoth refinery complex at Abqaiq, 205 miles (330 kms) east of the capital Riyadh, was down 50 per cent after it was engulfed by flames following air strikes. One of the Saudi’s biggest oilfields, at Khurais, also in the Eastern Province, was also partially closed.

There are credible reports that the damage is much more serious than the Saudi officials are 
conceding. These key industrial sites may take weeks to repair.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo got it half right when he claimed, “Iran launched an unprecedented attack on the world’s energy supply”.

Yes, it is unprecedented. But Pompeo and other US officials have most likely got it wrong about blaming Iran.

Some Trump administration officials told US media that “cruise missiles” were responsible for the giant fireballs seen over the Saudi oil facilities. One was quoted anonymously as saying: “There’s no doubt that Iran is responsible for this… there’s no escaping it. There is no other candidate.”
In a hurried effort to substantiate accusations against Iran, satellite images were released which show what appears to be the aftermath of the air strike on the Abqaiq refinery complex. US officials claim the location of the explosions indicate the weapons originated not from Yemen to the south, but from either Iran or Iraq. 

Even the normally dutiful New York Times expressed doubt about that claim, commenting in its report: “The satellite photographs released on Sunday did not appear as clear cut as officials suggested, with some appearing to show damage on the western side of facilities, not from the direction of Iran or Iraq.”

The accusations made by Pompeo and others are assertions in place of substantiated claims.
It is noteworthy that President Donald Trump refrained from openly blaming Iran by name, merely hinting at the possibility. If Pompeo is so adamant in fingering Iran, why didn’t Trump? Also, the president made a telling remark when he said he was “waiting for verification” from Saudi Arabia “as to who they believe was the cause of the attack.” Again, if US officials are explicitly accusing Iran then why is Trump saying he wants “verification” from the Saudis?

For its part, Iran has flatly dismissed the allegations that it had any involvement, saying that statements by Pompeo were “blind” and tantamount to setting up a conflict.
Iraq’s Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi also rejected claims that his country’s territory might have been used by pro-Iranian Shia militants to launch the air strikes.

The Houthi rebels in Yemen have issued unambiguous statements claiming responsibility for the air raids on the Saudi oil installations. They were specific that the weapons were drones, not missiles, adding with details that 10 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were deployed.

Notably too, most US media reported initially that the attacks were by drones flown from Yemen. Associated Press reported a level of sophistication in the attacks whereby drones were used first to disable the US Patriot radar systems before other UAVs proceeded to execute the air strikes. 
It therefore seems that US officials are attempting to switch the story by blaming Iran. It is reckless scapegoating because the logical consequence could elicit a military attack against Iran, in which event Tehran has warned it is ready for war.

The rationale for blaming Iran is that the Yemeni rebels (which Iran supports politically) are just not capable of using drones with such dramatic success against the Saudi oil industry. The culprit must be Iran, so the rationale goes. This is a follow-on from alleged sabotage by Iran against oil tankers in the Persian Gulf earlier this summer.

However, a timeline shows that the Houthis are more than capable of launching ever-more powerful ballistic missiles and deeper penetrating drones into Saudi territory. The rebels have been using drones from the beginning of the war which the US-backed Saudi-UAE coalition launched on the southern Arabian country in March 2015.

Over the past four years, the Houthi aerial firepower has gradually improved. Earlier, the Saudis, with American defense systems, were able to intercept drones and missiles from Yemen. But over the last year, the rebels have increased their success rate for hitting targets in the Saudi interior, including the capital Riyadh.

In May this year, Houthi drones hit Saudi Arabia’s crucial east-west pipeline. Then in August, drones and ballistic missiles were reported to have struck the Shaybah oil field near the border with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as well as the Dammam exporting complex in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. 

The Yemenis claim they are taking the war to Saudi Arabia and the UAE after years of relentless air strikes on their homeland which have resulted in nearly 90,000 dead. A recent UN report censured the US, Britain and France for possible complicity in war crimes through their military support for the Saudi coalition.

There must be trepidation among the monarchs in Saudi Arabia and the UAE that the rebels from war-torn and starving Yemen are now coming after them with drones that could demolish their oil economies. What’s more, the much-vaunted American protector is not able to deliver on its strategic bargain, despite billions of dollars of Pentagon weaponry. That’s why Washington has to find an excuse by casting Iran as the villain.
